imagine being Misty Fey and leaving your daughters in the care of your asshole sister who frames one of them for murder and is literally just about to do it again, knowing that the asshole sister has a daughter who killed two (debatably three) people and nearly killed another. You keep track of one of your daughter's life enough to notice that that one kid that your niece tried to kill interned with your daughter and defended your other daughter for the first daughter's murder because they met at the crime scene and became instant buddies and the first time you meet your remaining child she doesn't recognize you. You will never be able to tell her who you are because you get murdered that night.

do you ever think about the fact that the entire phoenix wright: ace attorney trilogy happens because gregory edgeworth dies.
#I just… that one event… is the reason for everyone else#gregory dying is the reason miles moves away and eventually becomes the demon prosecutor which is the reason why Phoenix starts taking law#classes and Gregory dying is the reason why the fey family’s name gets sullied and is the reason why misty hides away which is the reason#why mia starts looking into the dl-6 case which is the reason she becomes a lawyer which is now she meets Phoenix which is when he sees how#much faith she puts in her clients and how it saved him which is why he fully switches to law and becomes a lawyer. and the whole reason mia#met Phoenix is bc he met dahlia Hawthorne and the entire reason he met dahlia is bc he just happened to be at the courthouse at that#one specific day bc he was doing personal research into the law bc he kept seeing miles edgeworth demon prosecutor and he wanted to save#him. and the entire reason dahlia was there was bc she was cleaning up lose ends from the fawles case which only happened bc her father left#her mother and took her and Iris away. and he left their mother bc she was Morgan fey and her power and influence was gone bc 1. she was#simply the lesser sister and 2. her family name was ruined and power was the only reason he was with her. and so her left and took his#daughters and remarried and dahlia convinced him to leave Iris behind and then. and then. and then.#just. Omg I know I talked about it once fuckin. Buried in my tag somewhere but YES Trucy and Klaus are the bestest of friends. She's delighted to have him at the anything agency because gosh, it's basically turning into a law office at this point, they were really starting to fall behind in the "anything" department :/ He also 100% takes her seriously as the CEO and calls her "boss" and everything. She's a very bad influence who encourages him to break the law even more than Athena does and he's like yes boss right away boss :D

I feel like the tragedy of turnabout sisters gets really glossed over sometimes (which is largely a result of how it’s told) but I just think about it sometimes and go rabid.
#turnabout sisters#like THERE IS SO MUCH#Mia dying alone and scared because she tried so hard to handle everything on her own#Maya & Phoenix not even having time to mourn#Maya & Phoenix finding her like that#Phoenix feeling Mia grow cold#PHOENIX WAS LATE#Maya listening to her sisters voice over the recording so intently#and during the whole trial Phoenix had to come face to face with what Edgeworth had become#and then *he* was the one on trial and Edgeworth *knew* the trial was basically rigged and still didn’t let up#he looked Phoenix in the eyes in that lobby and told him he knew#and then did everything he could to prove him guilty anyway#told the Judge to give him another day so he could have more time to build a case against him#of course Edgeworth had mixed feelings on what he was doing#but he was still gonna go through with it#because that is what he’s been taught to do#and then he *loses* and it’s a good thing for many obvious reasons#but the path to redemption has it’s own pain in fully grasping all the wrongs he’s done#and this trial is the start of that#And Phoenix walked out of that trial probably having given up on saving Edgeworth until he sees good in him again in the next case#and he goes to the office his mentor died in; *his* office now#and Maya’s there because her sister asked her to take care of him#because they only have each other to mourn with#and because life goes on. Bills still need to be paid.

when i saw les mis us this year i saw the understudy for montparnasse and thought he was really good but now that im gonna see it again im hoping we get the og dude so i can see his portrayal as well
#it was ben cherington who i saw if you’re curious#very smooth skin#just dying over his interaction with eponine in look down#he was so sweet and fluffy and eponine giggled at him it was precious#also saw the understudy for eponine and LOVED HER SO MUCH#she’s one of my favorite eponines forever#i don’t like the main girl who played her i heard her in a bootleg and she got on my nerves#but i believe phoenix best is taking over which makes me squeal a little im kind of a fangirl#so i really hope to see an entirely new montparnasse and eponine#i mean ive been wanting to see les mis since i was like 9 and that was my first time (at 24) so i was wailing the whole time#so i probably missed a lot

Ok so like.....*sigh*
So like in the show he basically asks her to marry him and she says yes, and they're both like "Promise? Promise!" but she keeps fucking conveniently remembering and forgetting "the promise to mother" like I know he's intoxicating af and it's hard to hold a thought around this man (I also have a very hard time holding a thought looking at him), but pick a goddamn side and have a backbone about it ffs!! Like you can't waffle on people like this girl!! You literally sat here and engaged yourself to this man and then you go off and do THAT???
I would like to note that so far in the (very drastically different) novel, there is no such promise ever made, and she fucks off to the steppe because she's mad at Ning Yi thinking the whole entire time he had just been cozying up as part of a plot to kill her so leaving bought her time, space, and a power base to fight back and he just eats the misunderstanding like "????? fine, come and kill me when you're ready, at least I'll get to see you again, I am ok with this." which makes a bit more sense tbh.
In a loooot a lot of ways, the tv show is about 1000x more polished than the book, but at least the book has fewer slaps in the face like this. They become a bit more obvious on rewatch, especially after pawing through the novel. (I hope the translator finishes it someday!! They picked it up again this past may after two years of nothing so here's hoping!)
#the rise of phoenixes#spoilers#i needed to talk about some stuff ok#tbh I do like the ning yi of the tv show a LOT more- god bless chen kun#but the book ning yi also has his good points like accepting zhiwei's major choices#in the show it is absolutely not his fault that her mom and brother die- no question bc he tried damn hard to do everything he could#in the book he's got a bit more of the blame because he loses control of his subordinates after showing too much favor to zhiwei#they think he's blinded by her charm and talent and unable to make sound decisions so they act independently without telling him and fuck u#and he accepts that because he lost control of his people that that puts some of the blame on him because he WAS investigating feng hao#just not at zhiwei's expense which is what she thinks has happened- that wasn't the game at all#but he still takes the L with a little bit of dignity and it makes sense for her to get her space and leave#whereas in the show she highkey comes off as a pissbaby after this man wins a whole war on speedrun just to save her#only for her to conveniently remember mommy's promise again and break her engagement and fuck off to the steppe#which leaves him rightly a fucking mess and that was not a good look for her#i really really hope the translator picks the book back up and finishes it#i would love to see how this pans out there as the whole picture even though I know it has a happy ending already#but still!!

Yeah because those cases were actually fun.
You don't get to mock turn about goodbyes and reclaimed if the case your giving me is dull as shit and drawn out to hell.
I literally stopped this case half way through to replay goodbyes because I needed to remember that this series isn't actually bad and boring and it's just this case. Keep her name out of your dirty fucking mouth
#literally i want so fucking bad to play some of the cases in this game#defending trucy? battling Phoenix as apollo? seeing maya? ema coming back? simon and athena defense team? another apollo backstory?#wedding case? im so down for all of that#but accessing it requires me getting through this fucking thing that is quite possibly the most boring vase this series has ever given me#i could power through big top#my limits are being tested here#im also very grumpy because i didn't save and had to skip through a ton of dialogue and that took like an hour#but i hated this case before then too#what if 5-2 lost all its charm?#what if we gave it insane stakes and then never took them seriously?#what if every fucking chracter sucks#ahalbi is fine but he is bland#panye is panye and thus actively annoying#rayfa looks like she might be interesting later but right now is deeply grating#nick is nick. hes good but he needs more to work with and he is weird girlless which really makes you appreciate having them there#i miss athena#i miss her so much man#please weirdest of weird girls turn up and make this tolerable
