portrait practice with SILO characters rahhhh (for each i tried to work from reference as much as i could and then switched to tracing so that they Looked Right.)
#juliette nichols did unthinkable things to my mind and body (reference to bigtop burger: kid)#you know the post about scifi being sweaty women in tank tops covered in dirt. yeah#the silo writers: ok so theres an antagonist who wears all black. and is the only one in universe to do so. and he has big beautiful eyes#they visited the 'My Favorite Character factory' and stole the secret recipe. i feel so catered to#the main character is a grimy autistic engineer with tattoos (for the first 2 episodes. then she gets a new job 😔) and i love her a lot!!!#its a mystery scifi. it's not what i usually watch but the worldbuilding was really good#you could tell the set and costume design had a lot of love put into them#and the plot was intriguing to follow#do i recommend silo?#yes. its a good show :)#these are portrait practices from august. faces are still currently my least favorite thing to draw but they are slightly easier now#silo#silo apple tv#art#my art#silo fanart

Windy at my house + power flickering = no comm work = quick laptop doodle
#my characters#i genuinely hoped the wind would die down but like ??? nah?#and the last time we lost power without an actual storm it WAS bc of wind#and so i just get so panicked over please dont fry my tablet with a power surge#if it calms down by tonight i really wanna work on art since i spent almost all day yesterday struggling with a pose and i finally#think i thought of something that could work and then (gestures to the wind) fuck me#also in regards to these two you have seen me drawing deacon a lot recently and i only drew armya once so far#she is a devoted follower to fulj which is really rare since fulj no longer has a large following nor a temple#so when fulj finds her its comforting and reassuring and she adores armya a lot#however the fact that fulj relentlessly teases deacon and calls him names is like..... ok wait would you really be mean to me if it wasnt#for her ? like would you still pick on me? :c and shes like lol yeah dude absolutely#deacon is just constantly dunked on by the lightning group and hes so sad because he wanted to be friends :c#but also the guy wouldnt really recognize the followers if it wasnt for the traces of lady fulj#so if they would wander into the city without having been possessed recently he probably wouldnt even cast a glance their way#nothing personal he just straight up doesnt decipher looks fast at all#he could think they look familiar but then not know why ESPECIALLY if they wear something he's not used to them in#like if armya showed up in something other than her loose white jacket he would not be able to go AH YES ARMYA immediately#he identifies people by hair or clothing details so it kinda messes him up if people remove whatever identifying trait they have#long hair getting a hair cut? suddenly a whole new person#and armya knows this very well since he never looked her way unless fulj was possessing her or trailing her#so she does like to tease him as just. we are both in servitude to a deity and same rank but like. bro youre too easy to mock#(fulj agrees)

also im so fucking enamored with the idea of linebeck having long hair. like not shoulder length not a bit past the shoulder like when his hair gets wet and it flattens out the bits that stick out its like. oh hes never cut his hair before. its a general thing but i also just rlly like it
#like. it still curls out at rhe ends he has thr cowlick and that kinda hides how long his hair actually is#he maintains the length of it and refuses to cut it any shorter and generally opposes the idea of like. wearing it in a ponytail#maybe its bc i think he has nb swag and ig im the reverse of most ppl and my mental default nb tends to be amab not afab#anyways i am talking longer than like botw link and shit like. i like it. its fun#like. when he meets aryll and they start chilling ig like she follows him into outsets forest and while he draws seagulls#he lets her like. play with his hair and she can do braids and sruff and is just occupied for a while and hes chill with it#so long as she puts it back to normal but w/e#its not like. long long but its like. when wet a bit past the middle of his back#linebeck#salty talks#damien likes his hair and plays with it a lot and always offers to comb it out for him- he did it a lot when they were kids#in turn linebeck takes care of and plays with damiens hair too but damien just doesnt have as much#he just occasionally trims his hair but is the one in charge of post ph crew haircuts#it all started with him cutting damiens hair short when they first met. gayass

#dungeons and dragons#dnd#dnd pc#flora#flora dunnan#ttrpg#my art#a moment of hesitancy before following the rest of her companions back into the feywild#as of me drawing this I still haven't figured out how flora's gonna process the loss#of the first person she thought truly cared about her for who she was inside and not her position#especially immediately after learning that she looks so much like Noore's sister#so it wasn't even actually who she was on the inside that drew noore to her#it was because she so strongly reminded her of someone else entirely#my kiddo has a lot of processing to do#and so do I tbh#idk I've been thinking a lot about how I tend to explore different aspects of myself in my dnd characters#and while Brina has very much been me trying to accept being unapologetically myself#and like unmasking my adhd#flora has been a journey of love? and like. what it means to give love and how to learn to receive it from the people around her#and also to some degree the difference between being used and being loved#specifically through the lens of her caregivers in that regard for backstory stuffs#tbh this doesn't stop at dnd characters bc I did it with Cora too without thinking#with her it was a big exploration of like... no longer bottling up emotions and learning how to wield them like a blade#just like... a lot of learning to cope with responsibility and how to not lose oneself through that#and also - in regards to her romancing bull - a lot of just. deciding to no longer care about what other people think of decisions#and like all of these are still things that I need to continue working on in myself#but it's interesting to think of how it's like... less daunting to explore big things like that through a character first#idk#I havent purposely sought to do this with any of them it's just kind of a pattern I've noticed esp when I particularly connect with an oc#anyways

actually not done with the art talk: nice to see other artists shaking their heads at that terrible thread on twitter advising people to chase trends and that if your art isn't doing well on socials then you need to rethink what you're drawing and draw more popular subjects because man, fuck that shit. the only way to find your real audience is to draw what you want to draw. chasing trends and socials is a good way to kill your love of art and make your art suck
#if you go professional you'll spend enough time drawing shit you don't care about for clients anyway christ#also not to be real rude but one of my colleagues is very much a trend chaser artist and while yeah she has a lot of followers her art#is almost as empty as ai#i would rather be a nobody than draw souless same-face pretty women all day fuck me#(this colleague has also admitted that she doesn't really enjoy art anymore so yeah... no thank you)

#keese draws#oc art#oc#ocs#oc posting#eternal gales#Ive been thinking of tweaking alpha's design to have a hoodie for a while but Im still not sure if I wanna commit to it or not tbh#my main though is that I wanna showcase alpha's interest in clothes and fashion more in her design but also idk if it should be a constant#basically idk if I want alpha to wear any sort of more skin covering clothes as her default look#generally speaking staliens tend to find stuff that covers decent chunks of their bodies to be rly uncomfortable since their sensory hairs#are how they percieve the world around them#but clothes still do exist in a practical sense just not with nearly as common use as in humans#and following practical clothes came clothes as fashion which includes a lot of practicle clothing too#but its not the kinda thing that anyone is generally expected to do always yknow? thats why helmet has a clothe rental place just generally#most staliens arent gonna wear clothes outside of events or work its just not worth it#but also alpha could just. commit anyways just cause she thinks its cool or a way for her to reclaim some sense of autonomy over herself#idk Ill decide at some point fjfnfjd
