Notice how The Grim is empty and lifeless

Notice how it seems almost as if it hasn't started forming yet

Remember The Grim being dubbed as a clean slate by Nine

Remember how he chose this place to be his world, his paradise, his home.

Notice that it belongs to him now to create it as he wants.

Remember that Grim has no one and has no counterparts or landmarks of the OG world

Remember how Ghost Hill blew up, destroyed from existence when Nine began to use the unstable prism to recreate The Grim.

Remember how the ghosts of Sonic's and Shadow's friends were also wiped from existence and floated away, the essence gone into the energy sucked away by the prism

Remember how much the Grim bots look and act like the OGs

Since the world of the Grim was claimed by Nine to create as he wants before it fully formed, and he created those bots to be his friends, the Grim Bots are the variants of this Shatterspace.

I REALLY REALLY hope we see this form of Sonic come back and more refined.

I mean Nine didn't really know if it would work and he did it super quick so I don't think it'd be too far to assume that this isn't the most sonic can do with " shard " energy.

PLUS it wasn't all the shards they were missing one.

His design is something else because it just feels incomplete like as if not all of his body had the same amount of shard energy

Tbh it reminds me of the cyber-coruption from Frontiers as it covers parts of his body instead of covering it all

I have just made the connection that Shadow is,, in the Grim (I think).

It may not be the Grim- but he is. Hes not in the shatterspace/void anymore. Hes IN the shatterspaces that he previously could not enter?? And when he tried he was like, drop kicked back? BUT NOW HES IN THE OTHER SHATTERSPACES? CAN HE ENTER THEM NOW???

Do you think if the Shatterverse variants ever see Sonic again, they'll be slightly more protective of him? Like hovering around him almost constantly and assuring his safety without telling him and not letting him hit the ground if he falls etc.

The last time they saw him, he was weak and faded and dying. Never again.

See, Nine, the issue is not that i'm "faulty", or "wrong". The issue is... that you made me... Exactly. Like. YOU. SO OUTTA MY WAY, YOU TWO-TAILED FREAK! 'CUZ THOSE SHARDS ARE MINE NOW!

when nine tries to recreate Sonic through the paradox prism, his view of Sonic and especially his view of the world and New Yoke taint the outcome, releasing into the shatterspaces a hedgehog whose moral framework over freedom is detrimental to others, caring only for himself and the freedom he deserves.

Who cares if Nine created him, who's he to stop him? he's free, and maybe everyone deserves this freedom too, but who's got time to think on anyone else when he can do whatever he wants without consequences?

Nine will regret creating him, stealing the shards, and trying to replace Sonic, but most importantly, he's gonna FEAR THE BLUE BLUR!

I’ve got an ominous feeling that something bad’s gonna happen to Shadow in Part 3 of Prime.

A common storytelling trope is (1) having a protector character who supports/safeguards the protagonist and (2) having that protector character be removed or separated from the protagonist somehow. The idea behind it is that the protagonist needs to be the one to save the day or fix the problem they caused or beat the bad guy, and they can’t really do that if their protector is there to bail them out. So the protector gets removed to up the stakes and force the protagonist into battle. It’s why Gandalf goes down in Moria, why parents in Disney movies die, etc.

Shadow is Sonic’s protector character. He doesn’t always act like it, but he is. He literally saves Sonic’s life in one episode, and out of all the characters in the show, he’s the only person Sonic can really count on to have his back. Shadow is the only person who wants the same thing Sonic does and therefore the only one who will support him no matter what. The Shatterverse characters don’t really want Green Hill restored, especially not if it means sacrificing their own lives and worlds. They want the Shards for themselves and their own causes and worlds and goals. Everyone from Dread to Thorn to Prim, Rebel, and Renegade will only team up with Sonic if they’re convinced that doing so will help them get what they want. All of them are every bit as self-motivated as Nine is, just a tad less obvious about it. Shadow is the only one who’s really motivated to save Sonic and Sonic’s world, thereby making him a protector, albeit a reluctant one. Which means it’s fair to assume he’s got a bad fate awaiting him soon.

Granted, they’ve kind of already removed Shadow by preventing him from going into the Shatterspaces, so it’s possible that’s all that will happen. But I dunno, I feel like that’s not enough. At some point, there’s going to be a showdown in Ghost Hill when Sonic tries to bring all the Shards back, and somehow Shadow is going to have to be taken out of it so that Sonic will be forced to clean up his own mess.

Now, I don’t think they’re going to kill Shadow because that seems a little dark for Sonic Prime, plus he’s a fan favorite that they already tried killing off once only to have it backfire. But there are other ways. Will he fall into the black hole again? Will he get injured? Taken prisoner and held hostage by the Chaos Council? Shattered by the Prism? 👀

So many possibilities, all of them heartbreaking. 💔
