A Quick Update

Hey there, everyone!

I've been really quiet this year, and I know I'm sure you're tired of hearing this, but I didn't mean for it to be this way. A lot of things have happened offline, and continue to happen, and I am trying my hardest to keep my head above water.

I'm not here to give excuses, I'm here to say that I'm trying my best. I'm writing behind-the-scenes where I can. Believe me, every day I sit down and try my best to get something down in hopes of building a story for you guys. Some days it works, some days it doesn't.

My world stopped spinning, and then started again way too fucking fast for me to do anything about it. My goal for 2024 now is to simply survive it.

I can't say thank you enough to my besties @littledemon-lilith and @ofhawkinsandvecna for putting up with me. My brain has not been a fun place to be this year, and they've been right there with me to love & support me.

I'm working on myself. I'm building my life back. I'm trying not to let what happened keep me down. Some days that's easier than others. But just know I love you guys and I can't wait for the day I make my return.

To my TLB readers: Billy and Steve say hello. Billy waved Tank's fin hello to you all and let Tank send you all air kisses and hugs. The three of them are content in my Google docs, watching movies and snuggling and eating as many green grapes as a Little Billy's tummy can handle.

To my Saved from the Flames readers: Bob and Billy are reading The Hardy Boys and eating ice cream sundaes. Billy can't wait to show you the toys his Grandma and Grandpa brought him after his adoption! They love you and want to remind you to always look for the family you can create <3

Ok some notes from the first concept that never made it into the final cut?

 Yukine under painkillers calls Yato dad, but they never tell him that. Kazuma and Kofuku have an unofficial betting pool for when and how will Yato and Hiyori get together. Once someone asked Hiyori who her biggest fighter inspiration is and she answered “Touno” at the same time Yato answered “me” and they fought over it. Kofuku was supposed to be the one to take Hiyori to her first drinking adventure and she 100% will make it happen once. Yato tried to create a pre-match handshake ritual for his team but they never really accepted it.

In honor of the good news received in today’s Saved from the Flames chapter, here’s a mood board I created when I started planning this story ❤️

how would you consider the dynamic of piper and danse to be different from the first bootyverse fic?

I assume you mean in the second fic that I’m working on, anon?

Stories From the Front (SFtF) was Danse and Piper in kind of a whirlwind, a sudden and impulsive thing culminating after a few days of stress and tension. Their minds were on the Rogersbrook case and not on much else, so there wasn’t a lot of time to really think or talk before It Happened.

Bootyverse 2 Electric Boogaloo (working title.... I’m kidding) takes place over about a week, and the stakes are much lower. They have more time to hang out and chat and think, and a lot more time to kind of figure out what they’re doing. It’s sort of the process of them going from “we’re barely acquaintances and banged that one time” to “we’re friends who bang sometimes.” The process of even figuring out that they’d both like it if that happened and Danse deciding it’s okay for him to find something nice and stable outside of the Brotherhood.

Featuring a heaping helping of Danse struggling with his PTSD, and Piper having some problems of her own this time that maybe he can help with.

(Not like, sexy problems, regular problems. But he’ll help with the sexy ones too.)

It’s a lot more slow burn and meandering than my usual work, so it’s been a challenge. But I’m really enjoying some of the dialogue exchanges and there’s plenty of jokes too.

stardew steddie 👀 and/or sftf follow up 👀👀

I did that stardew one so SFTF it is! I have THE dumbest snippet of ~2004 Eddie who doesn't know how to act on a red carpet for you 🖤 also had barely anything for this one, so it's a little longer than 3 sentences.

“What is he doing?” Jonathan snorts, leaning closer to the tv.  Steve looks up from wiping jam off of his daughter’s forehead in time to see the camera zooming straight in on Eddie. He’s completely unaware, standing with his band off to the side, lip-syncing something at Jeff with total dedication.  “Shit,” Steve mutters, his smile turning into laughter as Eddie starts shimmying around as subtly as possible. There’s no live audio, just a voiceover of the reporter, so it’s impossible to tell what they’re listening to. “Jesus, baby. Look up.”  But Eddie just grins hugely as his band starts cracking up around him. Jeff nudges him when someone walks by too closely, and Steve watches the goofball of his dreams nod politely at some woman in a ballgown before resuming his little one-man show. He still hasn’t noticed the fucking camera.
