Playing with the fancast thing again!
I woke up with the idea in mind that Tom Ellis should be on IWTV somehow, because I'm an idiot and I like to fancast, but unfortunately as I don't watch many movies and series, my list of actors is limited to a very small circle!
But let's play a little...
Erin Kellyman and Amelia Kellyman as Maharet and Mekare and I don't think I need to tell you why... (The one in the middle is Milly Kellyman and she's an athlete.)
(left) Erin - October 17, 1998 - 1,68m (British)
(right) Amelia - June 6, 1993 - not sure (British)
Tumblr media
Tom Ellis - November 17, 1978 - 1,91m (British)... I have no idea who he could play, but like Ben Daniels (Santiago), he's the kind of actor who has the charisma to make you feel sympathy for the devil (if you know what I mean), so he could be something like Santino haha.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
May El Calamawy - October 28, 1986 - 1,69m (Egyptian/Palestinian)... I've loved her since I saw her in 'Moon Knight' and thank you Marvel for that, she's a great actress and I'm just in love with her, it's that thing, I just want her in every possible production. I can't say she'd be a good Akasha because I don't think she'd fit that role, so she could be some gender-swapped character or maybe Chrysanthe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jameela Jamil - February 25, 1986 - 1,79m (Indian/Pakistani born in UK)... Make her Lydia (Pandora) and make her kick some ass, make Arjun her little dog and in the end she can be with Bianca (I don't think she should be with Marius because he deserves to end up alone).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eva Green - July 6, 1980 - 1,70m (French/Jewish descent on his mother's side)... How can you live without wanting this woman on your screen? I have no idea who she could be, but make her one of the old ones, a powerful one who puts fear into you, make her kick a lot of ass too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Charles Dance as Magnus - October 10, 1946 - 1,91m (British)... It's so sad because I can only see Magnus as him, but if Christos Lawton is Magnus in S2 I'll be satisfied too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Paul Bullion as Thornevald - June 4, 1988 - 1,91m (British)... Come on, he looks so much like Thorne, it's like he's going to start crying at any moment! And I wish the series would not only put Thorne and Cyril together, but make them a couple, because I would love that so much, them being the best clumsy duo at protecting and following Lestat around while being a complete mess, they need to stick together, I love them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gillian Anderson or Kristin Bauer van Straten as Gabrielle. To be honest, from the first time I saw Kristin I saw Gabrielle in her.
Gillian Anderson - August 9, 1968 - 1,60m (American/British)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kristin Bauer van Straten - November 26, 1966 - 1,75 m (American)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oded Fehr as Nebamun (Gregory) - November 23, 1970 - 1,87m (Israeli)... That crush from 'The Mummy' that you never forget. Gregory being the biggest dad!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had some funny fancasts for Marius from the moment I read him in 'The Vampire Lestat', but the only two that never left my head were Fawad and Pedro, sorry! Two completely impossible actors, but something in me screamed that Marius should be Latino (crazy) and I unfortunately won't change my mind about that.
Fawad Khan - November 29, 1981- 1,78 m (Pakistani)
Tumblr media
Pedro Pascal - April 2, 1975 - 1,80m (Chilean/American)... Every time I read Marius and the image of Pedro pops into my mind, I start to giggle (I love you Pedro!).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sometimes I see Marius in Adam Cowie too, but unfortunately he's not an actor… June 3, 1988 - 1,88m (British/Model and Dante's face in DMC V).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's all for now, there are a few other characters that I wish I could fancast, but unfortunately I don't have any references and they are:
Seth. I keep wondering who would be the ideal actor to be the best couple ever with Fareed! (Sorry, I love them too).
Sevraine. Another great woman I wanted kicking ass!
Avicus and Mael. Along with Fareed and Seth, the two of them are the couple I look at and shout "old married couple energy!"
Cyril. Because I want him kissing Thorne on the mouth!!!
Rhoshamandes. Poor dear Rhosh, poorly used in the books, I wish he had the same energy as Ben Daniels as Santiago, an actor who would make you love the great villain and that in the series he is that great villain and not just someone who gradually becomes mediocre.
edit 1)
Mahesh Jadu as Cyril, Khayman or Seth - October 26, 1982 - 1,83m (Australian)... My goodness he's beautiful, isn't he???? >///<
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please reblog with more fancasts!

Good morning! As the person most knowledgeable about Armand I know, can I ask about something in PL that stumps me? When Lestat goes to Paris after Allesandra nukes the fledglings there, he mentions a sobbing auburn haired person there, but given the distance from NY and the way it's not brought up again it doesn't seem to be Armand. I don't think it's Bianca's lost fledgling either, since they seemed to be dead already. Is this an editing goof where Armand was the one to find Allesandra in an earlier draft? Some random vampire? Thanks in advance!
Hi! 🖤
I'll confess, I outsourced this one to @somevagrantchild who has a much better grasp on TVC as a whole than I do (whereas my focus is famously limited to Armand and his paramours).
So this is the paragraph in its entirety that I pulled up for my own sake:
Tumblr media
I never thought it about being Armand, but I did immediately dismiss it as some random vampire. @somevagrantchild clarified for me that it's Sevraine holding Allesandra and Bianca — "auburn hair" is likely a typo on Anne's part since she was having Lestat flashback to Armand and the catacombs a few paragraphs prior. (Moment of silence for Anne refusing to take editorial feedback post-QotD).
I did search through most of the other books quickly so I could say: "other characters are allowed to have auburn hair", but apparently that's not the case because I found nothing.
Bonus, this is in no way related to your question, but Gabrielle makes her appearance one paragraph over and I can't resist adding it in because Lestat's relationship with her makes me insane:
Tumblr media
Two hundred years old and he's still getting slapped around by his mother. Scandalizes me every time I remember it.

Regarding the previous anon, I am starting to feel a little bit frustrated with the lack of prominent female characters in VC (and I still haven’t read beyond IWtV, but I do know the basic outline of most of the books). I am personally very excited for Gabrielle, but also Pandora and especially Bianca and her relationship with Armand.
Knowing though that these characters except for Gabrielle won’t be featured much later is a bit saddening to me. Also, for what I’ve gathered VC doesn’t seem to have any prominent f/f relationships either?
Not that this matters TOO much in VC since all the vampires in the books seems to be sort of non binary (a-gender?, I’m cishet I don’t know all terms well, apologies). Maybe I am reading too much into this…?
Gabrielle and Sevraine are lovers in later books, here is a post with background on Sevraine and relevant book quote.
And given Gabrielle is also more or less transmasc (imho) there’s a lot the show could do with it.
Bianca and Pandora could also be interesting if built properly. Honestly, I am excited what they’ll do, bc they are aware that they need to bring in some non-males (there was an interview at some point) ;), and I bet they’ll do a fantastic job, as with Claudia (so far at least).
But yes, apart from that most vampires end up not caring too much 😅 🤷🏽‍♀️ - so there’s a lot of potential in and by itself imho.
Also *coughs* Fareed *coughs* ;))) (in regards to … actual shenanigans I mean. And of course hormone therapy is more or less canon possibility, lol)

Watching Big Bang Theory 'Not hot enough for Angelina Jolie?' and totally imagining VC characters acting it out with a script I made in my mind. Anyway, here's what I imagine which is which (not based on character similarity, it's just the way I imagine it for a little giggle)
Sheldon - Marius
Bernadette - Louis
Howard - Lestat
Amy - Armand
Raj - Daniel
Leonard - Gabrielle
Penny - Sevraine

The Caves (Free Day) | Sevraine&Rose | Vamptember
As Lestat was building his ancestral home, restoring it back to glory it hadn’t ever really seen, Rose had gone exploring. She had stayed around for a few months, trying to help direct things, but it seemed as though she was always in the way or Lestat had other ideas than what she thought of. Fine, if she wasn’t wanted around the castle then she would go exploring the world. Or at least Europe.
Viktor was back in California, helping Fareed with some modern medicinal miracle or another. He didn’t mind her planned adventure, and said he might join her at some point, if she was easy to reach. She planned to be. Rose couldn’t imagine becoming completely wild like Gabrielle. The most she could handle was glamping, and even then it seemed such a waste of time when she could just book a beautiful hotel room with views for days.
There was another reason for her trip, and this she told no one, not even Lestat. She wanted to see the island where her mother died, or what was left of it. She’d never been back to Greece since that part of her life and she was in a mood to look backwards, not forwards. Rose knew she shouldn’t dwell too long on what could have been or the way her past seemed to call her intoxicatingly. It didn’t matter. She had to find out what was there.
The island was abandoned, in ruins. It scared her at first, not remembering that she was a vampire with talents far beyond what a human could understand. It was beyond her understanding at one point, and she knew she was on the verge of madness before she was turned. That madness… it sometimes felt as though it haunted her still.
The buildings were in disrepair, which was her expectation. Who would live here but the rats and the crickets? The latter chirped around her in the early evening. She had flown here from her hotel, arriving when it was dark, but still when mortals were taking advantage of the early night. No humans were here, a shame, as she was hungry. A fledgling needed to kill at least every night, or at least take from six or several mortals with the Little Drink. Rose often chose to kill, something she and Viktor often disagreed on. He wanted to be a more human vampire. She didn’t see a point in being kind to those who were there for slaking their hunger.
Rose found the home with ease, knowing the streets and the layout well. Her mother had often left her to wander for hours at a time, too high to care what happened to her. It was in those hours that Lestat took a shine to her, eventually rescuing her from the tragedy that was to come.
The place had little resemblance to her memories. How she wished that the memories of her human years were as crystalline clear as those from when she was turned. After the turn, she could recall the color of the curtains, the feel of the fabric on a sofa, far too many details for a human mind to register. But her memories of being here as a small child were fuzzy at best, the layout she understood, but little else.
It was then, as she was examining ruins, that she heard a voice. No, not heard, but felt. A mental voice, projected into her mind.
Rose, young Rose, we are waiting for you.
What?! Who was waiting for her? Where? She couldn’t attempt to send a message, unless they were close, but she thought hard about where she was and how she would be there for a while. She didn’t intend on leaving this island for the night. Even if it meant not waiting for one evening.
When her curiosity was satisfied she flew back to her hotel and slept during the day. A forced sleep, a mandatory rest from all she had processed on an island of woe. But she was determined to answer this voice, hoping it was not the Voice that had plagued all of vampiredom since its inception. When she woke she heard nothing, which seemed odd. She was late to wake, and late to bed. It was one of the few quirks about her furn that kept her sane. She could stay up later than the others, but she would wake far after they had.
Hunger. It gnawed at her incessantly. She needed to feed before she figured out who was calling her. Rose ended up disposing of a vagrant. Not morally correct, but it sated her hunger so it would do. Besides, humans were so small compared to them. It hardly seemed to matter that she shattered this human’s whole existence with a few moments of her mouth on their neck.
She flew back to the island afterwards, sure she would find nothing as before. But this time, on the door of her old home, was a red rose, and nothing more. She inhaled deeply, the scent of the vampire leaving its trace. Her hunting skills with other undead were not up to par, but she had to learn, and she had a guess that this vampire was teaching her a lesson.
She scoured and sniffed what felt like hundreds of miles. Most of the vampires she knew were either at Trinity Gate or helping Lestat with his castle in France. Both were too far away for her to consider the message coming from them. So she soldiered on, knowing that if someone was looking for her, they ought to know that her Mind Gift was essentially nonexistent and that she would need a nudge sooner rather than later.
Rose found one while over the Turkish border. Ruins lay beneath her, though there were many attempts by humans to civilize the area. There were pockets that were successful, and the rising scent of blood only made her hungry, no matter that she had just eaten.
Rose. We are near. Use your preternatural senses.
The voice again. But not the Voice. This felt distinctly female, and strangely chastising of her lack of vampiric skill. She lowered her body in the air as much as she dared, not wanting any humans on ground level to see her. All she noted were small camps, often with a fire, some with camels or horses if they were pricier excursions. Rose did note a small series of cliffs that were hard to reach and with no humans nearby, but on her first pass she hadn’t thought twice about them. On this go around she stopped, inhaled and looked carefully. The natural features seemed undisturbed, but she saw a small groove in the dirt, one that was worn in from use.
Landing by this groove she pushed a boulder out of her way that would have been impossible for one human to move, let alone twenty of them. For her it was nothing, though she settled it back into place when she was through the opening. The darkness was not worrying, and Rose could easily see the path towards an exit.
When she did emerge from the series of tunnels, she was greeted by a grotto, a small stream and pool in which to wade. Knowing there were other vampires here she cleared her throat, opened her mind, and began to strip. She wanted to swim, and there was little that was going to stop her, besides her worry that they might kill her for intruding. But that didn’t seem like the vampire’s desire. Rose was called here after all.
The water was warm against her skin, a small pleasure with how cold her skin is. She sunk her body up to her chin, and though she could submerge deeper, able to hold her breath for ages, she didn’t want to ruin her makeup. The natural pool was teeming with its own life, some she could see, but many more microscopic. Even though they were single celled beings, she felt as though they knew to stay away from her. All creatures, well most, know the vampire is not to be trifled with.
“Hello, Rose.”
She had been so caught up in her own thoughts of creatures that could not harm her she had almost forgotten she was surely in a home of other vampires. The voice startled her, gasping, turning with her hands in the air as if to show her innocence. The woman’s face looked familiar, but she had met so many vampires that she wasn’t sure who it was.
“You are cute. I’m Eleni. I’m sure you recognize the name if nothing else.”
Rose nodded slowly, Eleni laughing lightly. She held a garment in her hands and now she laid it upon a rock near the pool, backing away.
“You have nothing to fear from us here. We invited you here after all. Sevraine will be most happy to see you. Now, get dressed. As beautiful as you are under those waves, we do tend to have a dress code.”
Vampires, she’d learned, loved to wear the most luxurious outfits, often styling themselves for hours before a meeting. Not that she didn’t like the best when she was human, but a vampire’s senses were far more sensitive to touch, enjoying the sensation of the high quality fabrics of high fashion designers.
“When you are ready, meet us in the garden. Take your time.”
Eleni grinned, shaking her head at Rose’s fear before departing with the most elegant steps. Rose panted, in shock, taking only a few moments to catch her breath before she climbed out of the pool, drying herself on her old clothes quickly. She didn’t want to keep them waiting, though she only knew Sevraine and Eleni by name. And by what was written of them in the Chronicles, though she had learned that the books often bent the truth to suit the writer.
The dress was haute couture, a semi-sheer number in cream with pink lace stitched in decorative patterns. It would leave little to the imagination concerning her body, and though Rose had a thought to walk into the gardens naked, but she didn’t want to insult her hosts. They had given her this dress, she ought to see if there were any attachments to wearing it.
It wasn’t the easiest outfit to get into by herself, but she manages well enough. At least to the point where she doesn’t look completely naked. She did note that it was picked specifically for her, the hemline matching her shorter height perfectly. Most of the other women in the coven were all taller than her. Rose didn’t know where the gardens were, but now that she had met Eleni she could follow the scent of her old blood through the caves and on a path that she could tell was well worn, but would have been impossible for a human to see.
Just before she comes to the entrance to the garden Eleni grabs her hand and pulls her in. The first thing she notices, though why she isn’t sure, is the skylight, a hole in the cave letting in the light of the moon and stars. It helps to illuminate the trees and plants that scatter the room, no rhyme or reason for their planting, and though Rose can tell this was made over time with a gardener’s touch, they had let the foliage grow as it wishes.
Lounging all around the room were the luminous bodies of vampires, all dressed as well as Rose has been. There were some she recognized, Bianca, Gabrielle, but most were new to her, though she is sure she would know their names like she had with Eleni. The beauty of the women, there were no men here that she could see, nearly overwhelmed her, leaning lightly against Eleni as she was led further into the gardens.
One tree had been fashioned into a chair of sorts, moss and leaves and flowers creating a lounging seat. Upon it was Sevraine, a fact she only knew by how the ancient vampire projected her name into her brain. She was beautiful, a goddess, her long flowing blonde hair barely covering her breasts as she’s in a dress just as sheer as Rose’s. Rose bows, not knowing what else to do, Eleni giggling beside her as she leaves her there, off to talk with other women in the garden.
“Little Rose. I half thought Lestat would not let you come here for fear of losing you to us.”
“Lestat doesn’t control me. Not anymore. I can do what I want now that I’m turned.”
“Is that right? Would you have come here had we not summoned you?”
“If I had known this place still existed, yes. I didn’t know you all were still here. There aren’t enough of us women, we’re outnumbered, we have to stick together.”
“I would not let this place die, ever. We come and go as we please. I may visit the castle once it is complete. Is he nearly finished?”
“I don’t think so, but I don’t know much about construction.”
“What do you know, little Rose?”
“That this place is stunning. That every vampire here is beautiful. That I’m not sure why I’ve been invited here in the first place.”
Sevraine rises, stepping down from the raised makeshift chair to stand in front of Rose. She kisses her warmly, biting her own tongue and letting Rose have a taste of her ancient blood, seeing in it glimpses of Akasha’s ancient court, of many previous nights in these caves with so many vampire women, of walking streets in cities so old the names have been lost to time. Rose is left reeling afterwards, holding onto Sevraine lest she fall.
“You are here because I want you to be here. Because you are the latest woman to join us in the Blood. Because I say you belong here.”
The ancient whisks her away from the garden, Rose letting herself be taken, though she glances back to look upon the women there, smelling blood in the air as some of them drink from one another. She can tell they are also doing more than just sharing blood.
Sevraine leads her into her private rooms, one of many. This room was dark, only illuminated by candles and a fireplace, the fire having been freshly stoked. She has the sense that Sevraine had told someone to prepare the room for her, though her Mind Gift is far too weak to verify her theory.
“Would you like to taste more of my blood?”
“Of course! I mean…if you’re willing to share.”
“Kneel, little Rose.”
Her eyes go wide, wanting to question her, but what little she had heard and read in the books of Sevraine all pointed to her being the one to call the shots, in all aspects of her life. Rose does as she’s told, the carpet plush in this room, a small luxury as she looks up to the elder blonde.
“Eat, little Rose. Eat as if your life depends on it.”
Rose blinks rapidly. She’s never done this with a woman, sure her lack of experience will show. Sevraine parts the wrap dress she has on, revealing her mound, light blonde curls covering her privates. Rose inches forward on her knees, her hands gingerly resting by Sevraine’s ankles. She nestles her nose in those curls, the scent like a perfume, singular and alluring.
Her tongue parts the lips, tasting blood almost immediately. This blood is different from the blood under her skin, but no less delicious, and Rose is eager to drink as much as she’s able. Her mouth chases higher into Sevraine, her tongue diving inside, her lips kissing her clit. It is divine, but what goddess doesn’t come from divinity?
She’s so consumed with swallowing as much blood as possible she forgets that she’s supposed to be pleasuring Sevraine, though a small tap to the back of her head reminds her. Rose focuses now, the ancient blood both clouding her mind and clearing her thoughts. It is an odd contradiction, but not one she wants to end anytime soon. So she eats in earnest, sucking and licking and trying to make Sevraine happy.
Sevraine has a small orgasm, Rose’s inexperience evident, but she pulls on Rose’s hair, forcing her to stop. Rose looks up to her, blood on her lips, her chin, licking what she can, staring at Sevraine as if she truly is her goddess.
“I think you’ll fit in here, just fine, little Rose. Welcome to my caves.”

"Worried about the Nicki/TVL content" here for clarification. I apologize, that came off like I didn't want to see TVL/Nicki. I'm excited to see Louis' journey through Europe and very excited for the theatre des vampires. I'm also very excited to see Lestat's backstory, including Nicki's part in it. What I meant is I'm worried that the showrunner might have been worried they weren't getting a season 3 so they packed in TVL and Nicki into season 2 so audiences got the backstory for Louis, Armand, and the theatre and how that ties to Lestat because they didn't want to leave questions because they may not get a season 3.
I want them to take their time with each major plot point and i wondered if cramming so much in was a hint that there was not going to be a renewal. But your response to my first ask was reassuring. I just really need to see the entire story play out before they end the show and I panicked so much advertisement of TVL in season 2 was an indication that this would be the only time we see it. Does that make sense?
Also, what plot points or storylines do you think we will see in season 3 in addition to TVL because the show always has more than one book or storyline going?
Ah ok :) It does make sense, but I honestly wouldn't worry too much.
For example Rolin talked about Lestat and Gabrielle at the SDCC '22 panel and so far there is no hint of Gabrielle - which makes sense, because Armand does not particularly like her... he probably omits her in his retelling of what happened.
But I don't think Rolin is going to omit her :) ... pass on the possibility to ... dip into that mess, too^^
And Rolin has already talked about Lestat's turning (and it being the literal worst of all the vampires' turnings) in the podcast back then, too. TVL is why Rolin wanted to do the show.
So. I wouldn't worry too much. AMC is financially out of the woods, the modus operandi seems to be the same as last season, and they are ramping up promotion, they are still developing the other shows, too. They said they are in for the long run, and there was once talk of 10 seasons... now I am not optimistic enough to hope for that much *laughs*, but... I'd love it :)) Definitely. Supposedly Sam was signed for 5 seasons though (off the bat). We'll see.
As per story lines... well, I mean, they will need to keep Dubai fresh, so that will develop further, and then, of course, in Lestat's past there is a lot they can hook into as well.
Magnus shows up as a ghost in the later books, too, so who knows, they might explore that aspect already (and there maybe the origins of the Talamasca???) in some kind of fashion. It would serve to introduce Benedict and Rhoshamandes here, too, given the later arcs. Marius' arc, of course, though if the rumor re Justin Kirk holds then they are going towards Marius' story and TWMBK (and possibly QotD) in s4 and s5. Gabrielle could be introduced in Dubai, and maybe bring in Sevraine, I mean Fareed is already there, the ancient vampires are there already, somewhere, out of sight, but there is a lot of possibility :)
And, of course, if they actually bring in Fareed again (which might be needed, given Daniel's health status), then Seth cannot be that far, and through Seth we could get an introduction to Gregory and Mekare, and Maharet, and Khayman, and... whoever else.
The Dubai TL is mixed up already, and I for one love it, because it allows for so much.
For example the piano music in the show... I would have loved it if that had been a live stream, of Sybille playing (for example). You know? Little things.
Sam said that there would be (more/other) cameo's coming in s2, so... I fully expect there to be more vampires, probably only apparent to those who know^^. (Just like last time^^)
Also: by now I do think we will get yet another revisit of episode 5 in s3. From Lestat's POV.
Because there is something there that I have touched on, that @cbrownjc has touched on... namely that we will now get to that the fight was more an actual "fight" downstairs, but even more interestingly, we will in all likelihood see why the fight rekindled upstairs. And... here comes something Lestat says in episode 6 into play, namely: "I don't know what possessed me that night."
Now, anyone who has read the last books (which Rolin as stated takes from) knows that Amel's awakening is bloody, drawn to violence, and that he takes over sometimes. He also likes to be in Lestat.
If the basic structure of the fight stays as it is there has to be a reason why that fight rekindled upstairs, and why it continued then with such a drastic power-imbalance, and why Lestat went on about his "nature", something which I have always found weird.
However, if they are already setting up Amel... I have theorized before that they might combine Akasha and Amel, since the actual threats (the burnings) are quite similar and it would be too repetitive for the show.
IF they are, indeed, already setting up Amel, then we will see the "reason" why it all went shit in Louis' POV next season, and then get the personal account of what happened there in s3. Louis won't be able to make much sense of it yet, neither will Armand, nor Daniel, and not even Marius (in all likelihood). But as these lines have not been come into play yet (and this show does not waste lines) I fully expect them to come back.
And then, if Lestat recounts the possession that story line can segue into s4 and s5 of Akasha/Amel rising, they'll probably skip the "core" going to Mekare first, I think Lestat will take it directly, maybe with the threat of Rhoshamandes thrown in or after, depending.
As I said before, I think they know how they want to do the first 5 or so seasons, and this... this is how I think it might come together :))
Obviously this is the "rough cut" - the details will be the most interesting thing.
What did Louis say in the trailer?

begin again COOKED as a post-qotd fix-it (fave fic! <3) but i need to know your thoughts on prince lestat/how you would re-do it in the correct way. to this day i still think LESTAT becoming prince monarch of all the vampires is one of the craziest decisions made during the novels. to me lestat is a prince in the same way that jack skellington was king of halloween (that includes the running away to cause delusional hijinks that ultimately jeapordize everyone)
Aaahhh thank you!! That fic is my child that I birthed so I appreciate it more than you know! It's actually BA's one year finished-iversary next week, my baby's all grown up.
I've talked about that before actually in this post about how I would rewrite the whole series, but I can expand a little here!
Firstly, this could've been two books instead of three. There was nothing going on in there that required three entire novels
Things that have to go entirely: aliens, test tube clone baby Viktor, Atlantis. Sorry, not salvageable
I think rather than the Amel thing, it would have been cool if the sacred core had started corrupting Lestat and altering his behavior as host, maybe changing him gradually into a animalistic, violent folklore-like vampire, making him slowly lose his mind like Mekare, or erasing his sense of self to become a blank host. Then it's a race against the clock and vampire magical biology to save him. This could be the first PL book
Ideally, I think this book should be narrated by Louis and focus a lot on his growth as a character as he finishes his personal. It would bring some happy ending closure to the IWTV version of him without being a jarring change. I also think having his POV for the best of his and Lestat's relationship would be a nice full circle moment from seeing him describe their worst. The idea of Lestat losing himself to the core and them potentially coming together too late would add good drama as well. Maybe this is Louis' follow-up memoir describing how they fixed things
The Rhoshamandes conflict can stay for the second PL and final VC book, but I think it could've been less boring if the drama between him and Lestat had been better fleshed out. They have a lot of similarities that weren't used to their full advantage. It would really highlight Lestat's growth to have him defeat what he could've become
When Lestat reunites with Louis, they would actually have some long, hard conversations about their past, ones that continue throughout the PL trilogy
Hopefully an explanation for why Lestat has made this 180 is included, even if it's just the crushing realization of his own loneliness and longing reaching critical mass after twenty years of who the fuck knows what
The cast is pared down to the strongest written and most interesting characters so the story isn't spread so thin, probably Lestat, Louis, Armand, Gabrielle, Marius, Pandora, and maybe a small handful of new characters with significance in the story. I think Seth, Fareed, Sevraine had the most potential to be good additions to the primary roster if she wanted to add on
Cool characters from the original like trilogy like Maharet and Khayman are expanded on rather than killed offscreen to make room for more Anne Rice NPCs. If we're going to kill someone from the trilogy, please God let it be David Talbot
This goes without saying I think, especially from me, but Louis would be restored to his former glory as a true main character alongside Lestat instead of relegated to lobotomized housewife. There was so much potential for him in an active consort role. We also don't get to see how he got to such a peaceful place at the end of PL, so I would like to see him work through some stuff on the page
I would either cut the Rhoshamandes/Benedict storyline because of how redundant it is with how it mirrors the Marius/Armand dynamic or do something to differentiate it as its own relationship. At the very least, maybe the similarity could be highlighted to become a character beat for Armand
As far as Armand in general, I would make him a much more prominent player. I think he's a great fit for a court setting and could create a lot of intrigue as well as adding coolness factor. I'm always torn about whether I like the reveal of his romantic feelings for Lestat, but in the interest of keeping SOME things intact, I would just play it differently. Primarily, I think he becomes way too agreeable (similar to Louis) in how he submits to and idolizes Lestat, so I would love to see him come into more conflict with Lestat in spite of those feelings. Maybe we can see him make some peace with their history and let go of that intense emotion for something healthier
If we're going to keep the sex injections (IVs, whatever), I think we should do more with it than have Lestat prematurely ejaculate into a random woman. I think there's potential for a very interesting new dynamic with Louis and Lestat. It would be cathartic and maybe an interesting part of their healing process and of becoming a real couple for the first time
That's what I can think of for now, but I might update later!
