my love languages! giving it’s definitely gift giving—it’s definitely my way of being like “hey btw I always think about you even when we’re not together.” I love a little ‘this made me think of you’ gift idk :)
for receiving I think it would be words of affirmation (or acts of service at specific times). even though I literally can’t take a compliment to save my life lol I literally always think about them.
and okay okay this one is fun—I’m gonna run through a few of my favs. For Osamu I think definitely we would. I feel like he gets flustered receiving little gifts that aren’t necessarily for any special occasion bc he’s like “??? you just want me to have this? bc you like me?” and I’m like yeah I’m literally in love w you you dork. and bc he's quieter i think the words of affirmation from him would just mean sm more. like he wouldn't say it unless he 100% meant it. but i do feel like acts of service is HIS love language—he shows his love through food and i am very happy to receive it lol.
i feel like nanami is very similar in that when he says something you know he means it. also an acts of service guy (the way he treats the first years?? hello?? amazing man im so in love w him). and i feel like he'd lowkey love getting little gifts or whatever, keeps them on his desk or dresser or smth and just loves admiring them. also is a flower giver because he's such a gentleman <3

her family is all about one thing and one thing only: their image
they’re the picture perfect southern, horse and football-loving family but there’s so much that happens behind closed doors
(physical abuse tw) outwardly, her father is a very joyous, domineering personality (has the vibes of a local politician, if you will) but behind closed doors, he lays his hands on her mother sometimes when she says something out of turn or does something he doesn’t like
selin never understood why she never left??? and there’s definitely some resentment in there because while her father has never actually hit her as she grew up (just held onto her arms too tightly or yanked her back roughly a couple of times) and even though she was younger, she knew that wasn’t okay
this image that they’re trying to show the world is so FAKE and selin hates everything about it
it doesn’t help that her mother sometimes takes out her frustration on her, making selin feel like she’s drowning in her mother’s expectations. she has to be the smartest, the prettiest, the wittiest, the nicest in the room and it’s exhausting
she’s an award-winning equestrian and has been since she was younger but doesn’t compete as much anymore
a year ago, she got back with her ex-boyfriend, adler barnes, eventually getting married. it was a very simple (slightly secret because not a lot of people knew) ceremony
(physical abuse tw) she came clean to her parents about it and her dad laid his hands on her because he did not approve of any of it. of adler, of the marriage. it was this big mess and she was battered and bruised until her older brother got her out of there
with her brother’s help, they took pictures of everything. with her brother having been a witness and with her mother also willing to testify, they had a case against their dad
it was an incredibly public trial and because of it, selin was just tired
she pushed everyone away. gone was the sweet, timid woman who just wanted to spend time with her horses and her friends. her heart is now locked up. her dad laying hands on her changed everything for her
she doesn’t care who she hurts in the process as long as she doesn’t get hurt again
and the fact that the trial was so public because their family name is well-known in the equestrian and horse breeding community just made her revert into herself even more
she handed adler divorce papers, moved away from home (just to nightrest which is just like a 15 minute drive away but still) because she needed to distance herself from what had just happened to her family

EEEEK!!!! what to say about it what to say about it
title: untitled (working title is project junebug but will change eventually)
genre: new adult high fantasy romance
current word count! 89,927 words (!!!!) - i am aiming for at least 100k!
how far am i? i've planned for this first draft to have about 27 chapters (and maybe an epilogue?); i am currently writing chapter 23.
as for what it's about...
jane graeme's mother went missing almost twelve years ago, but she's never believed the police when they told her she was presumed dead. when an old relative reaches out with the potential for providing answers, jane gets swept into a centuries-old family mystery and a prophecy that could very well be her own destiny to fulfill.
accompanied by new friends and foes alike, jane must figure out how far she's willing to go in order to figure out what really happened to her mother. or...if this prophecy is about her after all.
and some other notes/vibes about this work:
the vibe is very much dark academia, the main setting is in england (nowhere specific yet cause i'm bad at geography), but there's three branches of families that are all intertwined in terms of magic, and there's the ability to travel between past and present, and there's a world made of floating islands (kind of like pandora from the avatar movie?) and there's love and lust and rage and war and i'm so excited to finish it so i can get to editing and then perhaps beta readers within the next year!!!
and also the reason i'm calling it project junebug for my working title is because jane's nickname that her dad calls her is junebug. wahhh.

“Come outside.” Was the last thing you seen from Mitsuya , knowing what he was planning before you even headed outside. You were in your pajamas - a small tank top and oversized pants. You heard his engine running like a low hum - shaking your head at his antics.
You opened his car door, he always had the most amazing cars. Could you blame him? He was a fashion designer, of course everything had to be up to par. His car had a dark black exterior filled with leather on the seats and white lights on the bottom of the car. “Missed me?” You rolled your eyes placing a kiss to his cheek as an “hello” before closing your door and letting him speed off.
It was very few times you both could both enjoy the feeling of being regular reckless teenagers - rare times when he didn’t come to your door with a slash through his face and multiple wounds for you to nurse. The adrenaline of leaving your house so late at night to do absolutely nothing excited you both.
He placed his hand on your thigh keeping his dominant hand on the steering wheel, “where are we going this time?” He hummed - thinking of your first destination before shrugging his shoulders nonchalantly. “Wherever this car takes us I guess.” You nodded reaching toward the radio for background noise. Watching the minimum cars on the road felt like slow motion , it always did with mitsuya. Trying to speed a hair off the speed limit - for his own amusement and no particular goals.
The car in question took you towards a roof of a parking lot. Seeing site of all of Tokyo, it’s good and it’s bad. “A parking lot?” You cocked your eyebrow before opening the car door, “if I didn’t know any better I’d think you’d be trying to kill me off.”
You placed your hands on the ledge barrier, letting the crisp air hit your warm one. Mitsuya came behind you wrapping his arm around your lower waist pulling you close. “Why would I kill off the prettiest girl I know?” In response, you wrapped your arms around his neck finding his forehead and connecting both. “You’re so corny it kind of grosses me out.” Mitsuya pushed off your chest playfully, only to pull it back closer.
You fondled with his dark black shirt attempting to pull him impossibly closer towards you. “Shut up.” He scoffs still keeping his eye on you, “make me.” He ran a hand over your thigh, “oh?” Before you could respond, he landed a kiss to your lips - making you melt into his touch.
He grabbed your back for balance, holding you on the edge of more so literally falling for him before ending the kiss in small pecks on your bottom lip and biting it softly while disconnecting your now swollen lips - “god you’re such a handful, aren’t you?” ending in Mitsuya dragging his hand to your thighs and squeezing the flesh softly.
