Let's take a moment to honor the sacrifice of our brave schoolchildren who lay down their lives to protect our right to bear arms.

I am a legal responsible gun owner that wants every American citizen to own firearms if they so chose and can reasonably be assumed to not murder people due to mental health issues. I've been thinking about gun regulation a lot given recent events.  Here's what I've come up with so far. The second amendment was designed to protect the populus from tyrannical government and to keep a reasonable amount of self protection so any new regulation should come with the caveat that 18 and up can be legally provided with firearms and ammunition from other legal owners given that protection of self and protection from tyranny can be established. Essentially if the government goes full 1984 every adult can legally get a loaded gun in their hands. So new regulations could raise the age of high capacity round firearms(anything over 6 rounds) to 25 with empathy testing from licensed counselors. Ammunition sale could be limited to 30 day waiting period for anything over 50 rounds(one box) and we track it so you cant just buy a box everyday tobget around the 30 days. Any ammunition bulk purchase(250 or more) would be allowed with a 90 day waiting period and additional empathy screen. Going to a gun range would allow you to buy as much ammunition as you want to run through your firearm that day. No ammunition leaves the range. 18-21 will only be able to purchase ammo with signature of a legal gun owner that has met the empathy/age/background checks and 30 day/50 round waiting period. Slowing down the ability of young and mentally unhealthy people to access firearms and large amounts of ammo would help curb the mass shootings that occur. Specifically ammo regulation can help because a lot of the mass shooters are stocked with more ammunition than they ever get to fire and any legal gun owner that wants to create a stock pile could still do so over time with empathy screening. Remember murder is illegal. Individuals that use firearms to murder people are not law abiding citizens. The vast majority of gun ownership in this county is by law abiding citizens that are statically more likely to stop crime that perpetrate crime. A2 protects citizens right to keep and bear arms against tyranny. We can do that while also protecting school children in classrooms from unstable people. We have to.

Active Gunman

About half an hour later, the school reported an "active gunman" at the scene, who was in custody at 1:06 p.m., the Uvalde Police Department confirmed on Facebook. The police are to hold a press conference at 5 p.m. local hour. All students were housed and a meeting center was established at the Willie DeLeon Civic Center. Tuesday's shooting is the deadliest in Texas history and comes four years after 10 people were shot dead at Santa Fe High School near Houston. Insane how the only notable change since Sandy Hook is that kids are now formally trained to hide, barricade doors, fight, or run for their lives. That was the solution. To literally put the responsibility on them to figure it out and wish them luck.

Life After Life, by Kate Atkinson It's odd how nearly every character in this novel has the ability to quote literature -- especially Shakespeare. Of my various Brit friends I don't know any who could quote poetry, drama, or tid-bits of novels; no, not a single one, although they do know lines of dialogue from East Enders and Monty Python.

Nevertheless, these novel characters, particularly Ursula, live lives of luxury. No sign of Dickens here! Well, without such "trappings" -- is money really a trap? -- she could not have used her reincarnation to get close to Hitler.

I'm not giving anything away: the first two pages tell you about all anyone needs to know, as foreshadowing, to keep the reader-pump primed for all the events as re-combinate, hashed, diverted, inverted, and etcetera.

A fun book.

A number of police departments in Ohio responded to calls reporting active school shooters Friday, alarming parents, students and employees.

Active shooters had been reported at Catholic Central High School in Springfield, Belmont High School in Dayton, Princeton High School in Hamilton County and Licking Valley Local Schools in Newark Friday morning.

None of the calls appeared to be legitimate, nonetheless.

“Authorities believe it was a hoax. Police reported this prank call also came in about non-DPS schools,” Dayton Public Schools officials stated in an announcement.

“The Dayton Police Department is aware of the trend for these kind of false alarms and shall be investigating the incident and trying to identify the unknown caller,” the city of Dayton stated.

“Everyone is safe,” the Dayton Police Department assured the general public.

Springfield Police confirmed they also received a similar call.

“Springfield Police have received a call of an active shooter at Catholic Central High School. This is a false call. Dayton has received a similar call, which has also proved to be false,” officials stated in a press release.

All 4 reports had been later determined to be hoaxes. No injuries had been reported and no shots were fired.
