Zim just cosplays an alien for Halloween, and because Technology its scarily realistic, but he has the face-covering mask thing easily removable so whenver Dib's not around he takes it off because A) its way hot and stuffy and B) Its fun to watch the class think Dib is insane

Tbh zim probably would if he didnt hate Halloween. Because of how dark (and traumatic) halloween was for the boys in the show I like to imagine that this Zim has had terrible halloween experiences and just. Hates the holiday all together. He prefers to stay home and gorge on candy with Gir while watching bad horror movies

“The Nightmare Begins” is honestly my favorite episode out of all of them, despite being the first (next to the pilot, of course).

Just, the set up is so goddamn funny to me??? This cartoony alien race is having a convention (like, barely a business convention. its like fans going to a cosplay convention and meeting their favorite voice actors kind of convention.) about invading other planets and getting their assignments based on their height of all things, their leaders act like dicks, zim interrupts everything to demand a mission and totally ignores that he’s not even remotely wanted? BECAUSE HE NEARLY DESTROYED EVERYONE BEING OVERZEALOUS ABOUT HIS MISSION?? and he gets faulty garbage and still makes the best of it, dedicated completely. (and hes so cute about it. Hugs his sandwich and tells Gir to ‘please stop singing’).

AND THEN HE DECIDES TO WILLINGLY SUBJECT HIMSELF TO GOING TO MIDDLE SCHOOL.

(and honestly, despite the fact that he interrupts class frequently and is overall an obnoxious student, I can bet that idiot takes his homework seriously. AND LATER IN THE SERIES HE HAS TO GET A HALL PASS AND JUST??? RESPECTFULLY WAITS FOR HIS TEACHER TO GIVE IT TO HIM. DOESN’T EVEN YELL ABOUT IT. (I mean I know shes intimidating and also Tall so that may be why but I just like his relationship with her. She doesn’t drop kick him for hugging her when he’s reminiscing about his creation and also sometimes she just sort of humors him and is brutally honest with him.)

I like that human Zim, under his intellectual science major self, is a feral nerd. He’s theater trash, has more than likely cosplayed homestuck (his current hair is probably fucking inspired by a character from it ffs) and probably understands GIR’s anime references. We love the duality of a man.

What he knows of anime, he pretends he knows only from Gir, but he had such a phase in high school you can start playing some naruto op and he just starts belting it out before catching himself.

Hiyaa! Mod Tsumugi here, soo it took me awhile to figure out what headcanon I wanted to do to start off my blog. But luckily I thought of one that’s really important to me, and I wanted to write it out!

So I decided to do Junko Enoshima, Tsumugi Shirogane, Maki Haruwaka, and Tenko Chabashira reacting to a Fem!Friend/Crush coming out as a Lesbian/Pansexual/Bisexual with lots of comfort because, yeah. Who doesn’t love fluff? But anyways, let’s get onto the headcanons. Hope you all enjoy <3

Junko Enoshima

- Junko was super excited when you called her over to tell her something important!

- What could it possibly be? Something. . Despairing perhaps? Or have you finally realized you love the perfect model?

- When she got to your home, she just burst through the door almost as if she lived here.

- She ran over to your couch, where you were nervously pulling on the hem of your top.

- “S/O!!! What was so important that you needed to tell me?! Your like, never this nervous!”

- She loved teasing you, but when she noticed tears brimming your beautiful, sparkling eyes, she knew something was up.

- That’s when she got excited, seeing the tears of her loved ones only made her feel so. . Despaired!

- “J-Junko-San. . Uhm, s-so. You mean a lot to me! A-and I, w-well uhm. I, l-l-like gir—“

- She just busted out laughing, stomping her feet and wiping the fake tears from her blue eyes.

- “S/O!!! You are soo stupid! Like really, I already like, knew and everything! Don’t be so serious, I don’t care!”

- While that’s not how you wanted to come out, your just glad that she’s still loves you for who you are.

Tsumugi Shirogane

- Oh boy! When she heard you knocking, she was super excited to have your company!

- She had so many cosplays for you to try on, maybe you had a few reques—

- “ Tsumugi, are you okay?”

- When she heard your shakey voice, she kinda got nervous.

- “Aha! Of course S/O, I’m all good! Anyways, you look pale. Are you okay? Did som—“

- She suddenly felt her self being pushed on a stool that she had no clue was even there, she watched as you locked the door and regained yourself.

- “Tsumugi. . There is something, super important I wanna tell you. It means a lot to me and. . I just, I think you deserve to know.”

- She was happy that you trusted her enough to tell her something so important, she sat up straight and gave you a smile. Listening very intently!

- “Uhm. . Well, Tsumugi. . I’m. Ehm, I-I’m. . Gay! I-I like girls!”

- Oh, what a pleasant surprise! She looked very proud and and gave you a sincere smile.

- “Really? I’m so glad you trusted me enough to tell me, this dosent change a thing and your still my best friend. I’m very proud of you!”

- For awhile you two just stood in a tight embrace, tears of joy running down your cheeks.

Tenko Chabashira

- Tenko can’t wait to see you! She absolutely adores you, from your beautiful hair, those eyes she could get lost in, everything about you was perfect!

- When you told her to meet you at your home after school, she was filled with so many emotions! Happiness, anxiety, worry, she was feeling everything!

- Tenko called out your name, knocking on the door a few times. She only got more excited when you opened the door.

- She brought you into a bone crushing hug and let out squeals of happiness.

- “Hi S/O! What did you need to tell me?”

- When she saw your face go white, your hands clammy, and your knees wobble, she got extremely nervous.

- So when you took her by the hand and led her to your living room, she got kinda anxious.

- “S-So. . Tenko. You know your my Bestfriend right? And you told me nothing could ever get in the way of that. . Right?”

- Despite the pit of her stomach sinking, she let out an enthusiastic nod.

- ”Yep! You’ll always be my Bestfriend S/O!”

- Seeing you start wiping your eyes, and kinda sniffling she got up and rushed to your side.

- “ S-S/O! What’s wro—“

- “I’m gay Tenko! I-I like girls! I-I lo-love Girls!”

- Tenko froze, she stopped rubbing your back and kinda just stared at you. After awhile, you were pulled into a tight embrace as Tenko rocked you back and forth.

- “S/O. . It’s okay. Don’t cry, because I do too.”

Maki Haruwaka

- Maki got kinda annoyed when someone threw a note at the back of her head. But when she saw it was you, she just kinda grumbled and picked up the small piece of paper off the floor.

- ‘Hiya! Meet me at the gate after school okay?’

- She turned around and squinted, seeing you put a thumbs up she just turned around and rolled her eyes.

- After two more periods she headed to the gate, exactly where you promised to be standing.

- “Maki! Hey, come here!”

- She sighed, letting out a deep breathe before walking over to you.

- Maki looked at your face, eyebrows knitted, a nervous smile, and eyes looking everywhere but hers. Something was up. .

- “Hey. . So uhm, Maki. Can I uh, tell you something? That you can’t tell anyone. .”

- you finally broke the silence, she looked at you through half-lidded eyes.

- “ Uh, yes? What’s so important.”

- She stood there impatiently as you lightly grabbed her sleeve and looking into her eyes.

- “Maki. . I-I, uhm. I uh, kinda. I’m gay. .”

- Even though you mumbled the last part she caught on, she tilted her head before grabbing your sleeve and walked you to your house.

- “ And that matters how? Your still human, right? Your still my friend either way.”

Orthodoxy and Fandom: The ultimate crossover episode

When I was young and before I became Shabbat and kashrut observant, my family and I would drive to Chabad every Shabbos. I was not interested in praying and instead spent time in the kitchen with the rebbetzen and her daughter helping to put together the Kiddush. It is there that I would ask my questions about the observant practices of religious Judaism, but it was also there that I taught them about my fandoms. One particular time that has always stuck out in my mind was when I was obsessed with Invader Zim. I described the show to them, which is absurd to say the least, telling them about the angry little green alien and his idiot robot dressed like a dog. I told them different quotes from the latest episodes that I had watched, like when Gir screams, “I loveded you piggy! I loveded you!” Needless to say, they thought it was weird (it was), and while they were accepting, they thought I was weird for liking it. These were people who loved me, but the rest of the world at large is not so understanding and accepting.

So while fandoms like Harry Potter, Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and Doctor Who (just for starters) are a huge part of who I am, it seemed that if I ever wanted to enter the world of observant Jewry, which I found beautiful, that I would have to compartmentalize my geek identity from my Jewish identity. Maybe I thought I would grow out of these fandoms by the time that I was ready to be serious and start a family and join a Jewish community. But alas, here I am at 30 and more into them than ever. After all, now I have young sons to share this knowledge with! Now I have the resources to enjoy them more! But, for many years, I had to compartmentalize these identities. My geek identity did not cross over into my Jewish identity, except for when I wondered if it was acceptable for me to partake in certain fandoms, like Supernatural and Games of Thrones, as an observant Jew.

My oldest son, now 5, has embraced the fandoms that I have laid out for him. He has an Avengers backpack and an array of Star Wars shirts. He watched Superhero Squad and Lego Star Wars, inducting him into fandoms as I was inducted as a young child with X-Men and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Saturday morning cartoons. His friends from his religious Jewish school are also into superheroes and so here I was thinking that other parents may be like me! I recently went on a playdate with one of his friends and their mom wearing a Loki shirt (most of my shirts pertain to a fandom) and mentioned to the friend and his mom that I was thinking about getting a Thor hammer key chain. I thought the friend would find it cool. The mom looked at my shirt and I could tell didn’t know what to say. Apparently, the fandoms are okay for the kids, and maybe for the dads, but certainly not for the moms. So, in the religious Jewish community I could not let my geek flag fly.

I felt like Elsa. “Conceal, don’t feel, put on a show, make one wrong move and everyone will know!” (Admit it, you sang that in your head.) Maybe they would think that if I was a geek that I wasn’t really religious. Maybe they would have this view of me breaking Shabbos to watch my shows or to go to a Comic Con or not dressing tznius in a cosplay costume.

I felt like this until I stumbled upon a group on Facebook of women who were just like me. Women who were observant Jewish geeks. Women who used their fandoms to discuss Jewish issues; successfully integrating their two identities and embracing each other. Through this group they find each other across the world. Through this group we talk about the Jewish ethic issues about watching Supernatural or a leaked episode of a show. We discuss making a cosplay outfit tznius but recognizable. We share links for light saber and Tardis skirts. We share jokes and anecdotes about how our geeky and Jewish worlds collided. Most importantly, these women have inspired me to let my geek flag fly in the religious Jewish world. I have to be who I am and I must say that I have never felt so comfortable in both my own skin and the religious Jewish world.
