Doing this early today. I've had a more or less productive week, so you get two snippets, both from Christmas stories (I'm already in the vibe lol)

First, for the next chapter of A Charity Case:

“I literally have no magic,” Snow says with a forced little laugh. Like he thinks I'm the one who's being idiotic.

“What about those giant bloody wings?” I mock-whisper, leaning over the table. Snow mirrors me, leaning even further forward. Our foreheads almost touch. “Or are they false? Just for show?”

He snorts in my face. I scowl.

“They're real,” he says. “But they don't count.”

“How so?”

Snow shakes his head. “They're just like scars… or a souvenir. A reminder of something I don't have… something I am not anymore.”

I have to sit back and laugh, then. The image is fucking tragic. I imagine Simon Snow wearing a shirt that says “I saved the World of Mages and all I got was this ridiculously stunning pair of wings,” and it makes my chest ache uncomfortably, so I laugh instead.

Second snippet is a post-Snow for Christmas explicit fic, so... It goes under the cut lol (beware of spoilers)

This angle is terrible. My wings are getting in the way, and I'm not sure Baz can see anything.

It's hard to support myself and pull off my pants while holding the phone, all at the same time, so I just let it fall onto bed while I get rid of my clothes. I can see Baz's face up close, eyes intense and fixed on the screen.

I check the image from my own camera, then grin, pointing it at my torso. “Like what you see?”

Baz Mmms as I tweak one of my nipples between my fingers. “Very much. I believe I asked for cake, though.”

9. Mixed Messages - I haven't read Attachments so I'm not as attached (haha) to the characters as I probably should've been to appreciate it

8. The Prince and the Troll - I think I'm gonna need to reread this a few more times before I fully understand it but I liked the parts about the road killing everything but being the last thing to die like wow go off

7. If the Fates Allow - Reagan RETURNS!! I hope Cath and Levi read Simon Snow to their 3 kids and 50 Bison.

6. Midnights - Noel is adorable I love him and also I'm a Swiftie so of course I liked this one

5. Winter Songs for Summer - listening to the same song over and over is a MOOD and the CDs were so cute I need a copy of the track list ASAP

4. The Snow Ball - the dialogue and pacing of this one made me get so invested in it in a way I can't quite describe. Also we stan Judy Garland.

3. Kindred Spirits - I've read this one before but the ending is still so funny to me. Also it's Star Wars what more could you want?

2. In Waiting - oh my GOSH this was so so interesting and creative! I think this is the one that I'm gonna be thinking about the most post-read

Literally no one should be surprised by this it's SIMON AND BAZ. "We can be extra gay for a treat"? "Cured by homosexuality"? The FOREHEAD KISS???? Iconic.

I'm dropping spoilers below because I've reread this 5 times while at work today and need to let my emotions out.

Malcom and Daphne crying and pouring drinks over Baz finally finally finally getting to eat dinner with him. Sophie getting gravy in her hair.

And can we also discuss the fact that this scene proves that these little girls know their big brother is a vampire? And they still adore him? They still climb all over him and practically beg for his attention? That these girls just want to spend time with their brother and aren't afraid in the slightest of him?

FANG BACKSTORY BREAKING MY FUCKING HEART. Baby Baz fucking hiding in the barn. Terrified. And Fiona just fucking supporting her nephew. I 100% cried during this scene.

Edit Add cause I somehow forgot to mention : Simon's fucking obsession with Baz's fangs. Like. Honey. No, his family does not want to watch him drain a deer. That's just you.

"I think I got drunk with Baz's dad at dinner." Had me rolling.

Backtracking. WE HAVE CAREER OPTIONS FOR SIMON. And so help me. I would refuse to talk to this man too if he tried to join the RAF or police force. Like. He really needs to address this hero-savior complex with his fucking therapist. For fucks sake. Stop trying to save people Simon. Just get your fucking fork lift license and RELAX.
