Little things about Marcille make me so so so sick. Reading a book with the first character that's anything like you at all in even a somewhat respectable way and falling in love. She doesn't know anything about the food her mother grew up eating. She is subtly different from her peers and has never been sure where she fits in. AND despite those experiences she still falls victim to prejudiced thinking. She and Kabru should be besties who verbally fight like rabid dogs.

Marcille kind of looks down on her (not intentionally) as someone who is #in need of Guidance and Being Protected in a way that is sort of... infantilizing and overbearing.#And Falin is sort of bad at asserting what she wants and saying no to things.#WHICH THEY CAN/WILL/HAVE STARTED TO OVERCOME.#Anyway I think Marcille and Kabru could be BFFs who just as quickly click as they shatter each other's souls with their teeth.#People have said much more comprehensive things about both characters but as like #My relationship to my identity is WEIRD. My gender is SCARY. Not only that... I am also autistic.#Kabru when he isn't seen as an adult. Whenever Halsin giggles, or does that little hum of a chuckle, every protective instinct in my brain synapses instantly lights up.

#BG3 Musing #Halsin Posting #he giggles! i cannot describe that laugh as anything less than a giggle or more than a chuckle #i am such a sucker for characters who exist in divides of assumption #you think oh this giant man must have a big boisterous laugh (and like maybe he does) but no! it's a delicate little thing #you think this guy who a moment ago as a bear was growling and snarling and demanding blood be shed is a beast #that enjoys the activity - but the first thing he says to you is to pardon his mess #like i live for that appearances are deceiving cliche i don't care how many times i see it #and i love those little reminders that halsin is - in fact - elven - he is a fae creature #even if he doesn't look like a stereotypical elf he still exhibits elven traits and it's delightful #but also halsin needs to be protected - that is the giggle of a little boy coming from the chest of a middle aged man #also also you ever think part of the reason he's more soft spoken was to avoid scaring people because he's been told that he's a bit scary #so he taught himself to reign it in to avoid being stereotyped because like...that's sad

I like this scene because when I was writing it I was thinking about how fun everything would be once Alberu joins the party ahaha

This poor guy will not only have to deal with Regressor Cale, but Regressor Choi Han AND Kim Roksoo. Those three will never let the opportunity to tease Alberu slip by. Also I find this one scene really funny because Alberu is absolutely thinking to himself ‘what the hell was that’ when he made eye contact with Cale, the young master of the Henituse family who is famous for his brutal honesty and words, is smiling at him in a way that reminded Alberu too much of himself.

Realistically, there should be no way the young master knows anything about him, not when they had only exchanged a few greetings in passing. Sure, the Henituse county was rich, but they had no reason to dig for information on him unless he provoked them. So why did it feel like Cale Henituse knew something very important about him?

In the centre was an enormous table fashioned from a slab of oak, with long benches on either side, and this was where we were directed to sit (...) The room was lined with wooden cabinets and a huge chest of drawers like the kind you might find in a haberdashery shop. On every shelf and every surface were bottles and jars and bowls and pots, and on the walls were olive-green tiles and rows of hooks from which spatulas and measuring spoons hung. Even the windowsill was put to use: here herbs grew in small pots.

Some more art for the AU -- the manor house kitchen! Feat. Maglor helping the twins with their homework while Maedhros checks his recipe book.

(There is also supposed to be a pan rack hanging from the ceiling, but I couldn't work out how to draw that in an isometric cut-away view. Imagine it's there.)

Time taken: approximately 33h, plus far too much time researching antique kitchen utensils.
