Dark SBI where Philza is a nice normal human man whose family slowly gets replaced by super natural creatures. The youngest is the first to go, replaced by 'Tommy', a shape shifting imp who decided he liked the skin of the kid and decided to keep it. He lives for chaos, but his motives falter when he experiences genuine love for the first time. Then 'Wilbur' replaces another son in classic changeling fashion, the boy taken to fulfill the whims of the fae and leaving in his place a bitter boy who knows he's an inferior version. Finally, the last son becomes plagued by dark voices that grow worse and worse, leading him succumbing to possession by 'Technoblade', who thinks he'll make the perfect new vessel after the last one was destroyed. 'Technoblade' doesn't want to lose his new vessel so soon after the last one, 'Wilbur' was trained from birth to mimic the human he would replace, and 'Tommy' wants an identity he can fall back on to play innocent if he gets in trouble. It takes awhile before the others realize all three kids are imposters. There's friction, of course, but they eventually make a pact to continue pretending to be a sweet and unsuspecting family.
The thing is...Philza isn't dumb. There's this awful feeling in his gut, and he has a sharp eye for details that don't add up. He's increasingly certain these things aren't his children. He quietly gathers evidence, and the moment he's sure...he does nothing. Philza carries on in a careful pantomime of a perfectly loving family, terrified of what they'll do to him if they realize he knows their true natures. He smothers his fear and offers them warm smiles and boundless mercy and tender affection the likes of which the imposter children have never known before. Slowly, it becomes a easier for everyone to pretend.
Maybe, if Philza's kind enough, they won't kill him, or worse. Maybe if he's good enough, their evil natures will soften. Maybe, if he's patient enough, they'll give him his real kids back.
And the moment they do, he'll slaughter every last one of the monsters who destroyed his family.

SBIWhumptober Day 1: Scars + Day 2: Superpower Backfire
Technoblade is twelve when his life is ruined.
There are programs, initiatives for the Gifted. For those granted otherworldly powers that are beyond the scope of mortal capabilities. Usually the Academy scoops them up when they’re barely children, sequestering them away to inundate them with shadowy, nebulous ‘training regimens’. Usually, none of them are seen again - they grow into Heros, their identities hidden and their faces masked.
Technoblade is one of the few exceptions. Somehow, he was never found. Never recovered by the Academy. And while later, he’ll realize this for the blessing it is, now all it means is that he is growing and young and powerful and has no idea how to control any of that power at all.
An accident seems inevitable. It always is, in these circumstances. The Academy has many flaws, but one rule holds true - without training, a superhuman is doomed for failure. And Technoblade’s failure comes in September of his twelfth year.
A lapse in temper, a lapse in judgment. A building leveled, and Technoblade himself half buried under rubble. It’s a miracle no one died, Techno included. A gift from the gods, the papers said.
But miracles weren’t enough to spare Techno entirely. His hands were mangled by the sheer force of the magic that flowed through him. The doctors said he would never channel properly again.
And with that announcement, the Academy lost interest. He was neither a prospective Hero nor a threat. No more powerful than a regular human, the papers said. Craft City’s brightest star extinguished. The gift we never knew we lost. Techno is left behind, with bile in his teeth and bitterness in his heart.
(They underestimated his determination)
~=~
Years later, a Villain will emerge with scars on their hands and an axe to grind, and the City will realize - oh. Oh.
He was never extinguished. He was merely, for a time, eclipsed.

Burden the Hand
The fabric on top of the cage was pulled off with a flourish. Technoblade flinched and closed his eyes at the sudden light. Gasps and murmurs and laughter grated on his heart as he struggled to clear his sight and mind. “-we were able to procure an avian hybrid for your royal highnesses,” The auctioneer said finally. Technoblade squinted, trying to see through the blurriness of the brightness. “Pulled directly from the traded territory of the Retired Tundra, only began presenting as a hybrid one month ago! This hybrid's instincts are well within the timeframe to make a perfectly docile pet.” Technoblade is an Avian hybrid. They are considered divine inside the Antarctic Empire. He did not live in the Antarctic Empire. He lived in Hypixel, where the Hybrid Market was alive and well. Technoblade is taken to be sold at the International Council, a meeting between many of the biggest kingdoms in the world. He meets the Emperor of the Antarctic Empire.

I think that the most heartbreaking thing in Passerine was p!Phil not being there. My mans just left, and poor p!Wilbur, at 16 had to rule the whole kingdom without him.
I remember that the first thing that made me cry was p!wilbur having that fight at the table with p!phil (yep, daddy issues). It really gives us the first look on their relationship in the story, although it is batter at the end. it's only bc Tommy's death and they all have to step together as a family to bury him.
Yeah, it's just the saddest thing for me. i read Passerine when sadist anaunced their animatic, i did spoil tommy dying for myself so it was expected when i got to that part, but yeah it was a really sad and bittersweet fic.
That fic made me read more of them, and then i realized that i hated "bad father phil" fics, and just love my classic SBI angst, with happy ending fics, that have good and supportive father c!Phil in it. <3
LMAO i know that this is so random. Me? Talking about Passerine in 2023? NO WAY?!
But I was just rewatching some old mcyt animations and i came across one form "Kazuallyy", that i had never watched before. I remember that it was always in my recommend, but i never watched it for some reason lmao
But yes, i just watched it and NO ONE TOLD ME THAT THE SONG IN IT WAS "TWO BY SLEEPING AT LAST"?!!
I just absolutely cried my ass out lmao. I'm not okay!
anyways, as much angsty that fic is, i love the core memories that i have with it and it will always hold a special place in my heart, as one of the first and the saddest fics I've ever read.
Thank you if you read all the way through and listened to the mini breakdown that i just had. Well if you did, i hope that you have a good day/night wherever in a world you are rn! <3

dsmp fanfic idea cause we won’t do anything with it, and you guys might. (you don’t have to credit us if you use it, but let us know if you write it?)
Foster system AU, Wilbur and Tommy are biological brothers. They’re separated early into their time in the foster system, where Tommy meets Techno, and Techno sort of protects him, takes him under his wing, etc etc.
Eventually Philza comes along and adopts Techno, and Phil can’t care for both kids, so he has to separate Techno and Tommy.
Once he’s old enough / Phil’s stable enough, Tommy also gets adopted by Phil, but they don’t realize who each other are.
Once they get there, Wilbur was also adopted by Philza, and almost immediately recognizes Tommy, but doesn’t want to get his hopes up, so he kinda pushes Tommy away/resents him, and ends up also being resentful to Techno because Tommy recognizes him, and so Techno gets the brotherly bond that HE wanted, with someone who looks like (is actually) HIS brother.

“How much will your loyalty cost?”
Techno froze at the question and turned around to face Wilbur. He had hoped it was a joke, but Wil’s face was stone cold serious.
“I don’t want your money,” he said evenly.
“What then? Power? Connections? You know my capabilities. Say it and it’s yours.”
Wilbur didn’t even seem upset. This wasn’t the Wilbur who joked around and lived for dramatic entrances and soft strums on the guitar. This was Wilbur at one end of a negotiation he was intent on winning. It was detached, clinical.
It felt like a slap in the face.
“You really don’t know why I’m here, do you?” It came out soft and vulnerable. It was how Techno felt, at least.
Wilbur didn’t reply, just kept that same, intense gaze, as if waiting for Techno to tell him a price.
Technoblade shook his head and allowed the hurt to seep into his voice when he asked, “do you really think I would sell you guys out for some money? That I’d turn so easily—that I’d turn at all?” Then, quieter, “do you really think so little of me?”

got an idea for a fic that I can’t pursue:
Basically, The Blood God is offered his usual blood sacrifice. Screaming, crying, chanting, the whole nine yards. But his cult messed up, because Tommy isn’t actually an orphan. Like on paper he is, but Technoblade can sense it’s not true and is like ‘Bruh stupid worshipers can’t do anything right.’ So he leaves Tommy alone bc he can’t have his followers getting lazy and subpar with their sacrifices obviously. But then also he’s saddled with this mortal kid he doesn’t know what to do with and he feels kinda bad since it’s not Tommy’s fault the cult messed up. So he awkwardly tries to take care of Tommy while still trying to live up to scary blood god expectations and it’s a lot of extra work on his plate. General beauty and the beast type shenanigans of Tommy going from cowering from the big scary god to demanding (and getting) a piggyback ride mid big important ceremony.
Anyway, eventually they figure out why there was a mixup when Philza (normal human man, v angy) fights his way past all the cultist in pure mama bear mode ready to kill the blood god for taking his adopted kid. Only to find Technoblade half way through overacting a bedtime story.
Cue custody battle because ‘hey! That’s MY sacrifice!’ ‘THATS MY SON YOU YELLOW BELLIED FALSE GOD SON OF A-‘
I think some of the cultists end up converting to Phil since he’s somehow way scarier than the nine feet tall blood eyed boar god.

SBIWhumptober Day 27: “It’s fine, I’m not hungry anyways.” + Day 29: “It’s all in your head.”
There is a feeling that Phil can’t shake and a fear that he cannot cast aside.
It’s been there for days. A subtle feeling of delicate wrongness that seeps into his every action, that watches his every move, a predator ready to strike when his guard is down. A sense of directionless paranoia, that appeared at first to be so detached from everything around him - it took him three days to trace its source.
To trace it back to Technoblade.
It makes sense, of a sort. They are rarely apart, so the fear hardly ever eases. And Technoblade is something that Phil’s naturally watchful, avian mind has already accepted long ago as safe. It seems ridiculous for him to ever be a danger.
But Phil’s instincts don’t lie. They’ve always been screaming at him, from the very start.
His personal biases just made it harder for him to hear them.
In the future, he’ll wonder if this waste of time, if this inability to accept the truth, is what sealed his fate. But for now, he’s still observing. He has identified the source - now, it’s a waiting and watching game.
~=~
Technoblade doesn’t eat.
At least, this being that wears his face doesn’t. Phil keeps a close eye on him, even during meals, and it’s the first oddity he notices. Techno usually can’t resist potatoes in any form, and he’s too polite to refuse anything Phil makes, anyways - yet when Phil prepares a potato casserole that he can certify is fucking delicious, Techno doesn’t taste it once.
When Phil tries to innocently ask if something’s wrong, Techno merely smiles. “It’s fine,” he says, too placid, too monotone, “I’m not hungry anyways.”
(His smile looks wrong. His voice is wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong)
~=~
Technoblade doesn’t speak.
Not that he’s the overly talkative type, not like Tommy, but…this is unnatural, even for him. Usually, Phil can expect at least the occasional quip or joke. And the silences with Techno always feel warm, companionable. Warm understanding even when no words are shared.
The silences with the Fake (as Phil has taken to calling them) are heavy and cold and this side of awkward, and since when has Phil ever felt awkward around Techno? Isn’t that in itself a warning sign?
(It feels like an actor following a script of what Technoblade would act like, with no rehearsal and no director)
~=~
Technoblade - looks - wrong.
The shape of his face, the length of his hair, the dirt under his fingernails - wrong. All wrong. Subtly wrong, but wrong. Phil knows his friend. He knows, he knows, he knows.
(He knows, so why isn’t he doing something?)
It can be ignored, sometimes. But out of the corner of his eye, sometimes he sees Techno’s face…warp. Turning empty, dark, eyes wide and bulbous and staring and staring and mocking and staring and -
But whenever he turns to look, he sees nothing but his friend’s smiling face.
(All the doors are locked from the outside. Phil doesn’t know how the Fake managed that)
~=~
He broaches the subject only once. The water boils in the kettle for tea. The Fake stands nearby, leaning against the countertop. Staring off into the distance as if lost in thought. It feels so familiar and yet so unfamiliar, too.
Phil clears his throat, spooning honey into a mug. He doesn’t look at the Fake, instead focusing on keeping his voice perfectly level.
“I know you’re not him.”
The tension in the air thickens until it feels like it’s choking him from the inside out. He does his best to breathe, to focus. “We can talk this through,” he says. “Just tell me where he is.”
Silence. Then, monotone, too monotone. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Phil.”
Something in Phil snaps, cracking in two. He slams the mug down, whirls to face them. The Fake doesn’t even flinch. “Don’t give me that crap,” he snarls, “Do you think I’m stupid? Do you think I don’t know him?”
The Fake stares, and stares, and stares, and Phil can feel something crawling up his spine, and and his heart starting to beat like a hummingbird's wings in flight, and a scream, desperate, clawing, crawling up his throat -
And then they smile (why are their teeth so white?) and say, with magnetic precision (why is their voice echoing?):
“I think that it’s all in your head. And I think that soon enough, it won’t matter, anyways.”
(“You’ve lost, Phil.”)

Brain rotting a bedrock bros au where Tommy works late nights at a near by fast food place and Techno works throughout the day so he can be there when Tommy gets home or able to pick him up. They lived like this for years, ever since their parents up and left.
You what they say, it’s a choice to be a parent. Guess theirs decided to only be a parent until their eldest can legally take care of the baby of the family, that doesn’t matter. Techno can be a parent and an older brother, that’s his choice. It will always be his choice.
He also hates that Tommy works so late, hates it even more when he has to walk home from work. His kid brother would always brush off his concerns, saying he’s fine. Joke that if he were to be kidnapped they’d bring him back. Techno would roll his eyes, never finding the joke funny.
That’s the thing isn’t it, it was supposed to be a joke. Tommy was supposed to be home an hour ago. loudly telling Techno about his day, eating the dinner techno made and reheated for him. A plate of his own in front of him, as he nodded along to his little Brother’s chatting. That’s how things always went ever since Tommy started working, that’s how things are meant to stay until Tommy can provide for himself, graduate secondary school, went off to college or decided to move in with a few of his friends only to show up on Techno’s doorstep after a few months with some awful lie about why he has to move back. Because he’s to proud to admit they couldn’t afford rent or whatever.
…okay maybe that last one was his brain running a bit off it’s hinges, but you get the point.
Tommy isn’t home, he’s not by Techno at their cramped dinner table in their small apartment. It’s taken everything in himself not to go John Wick in an attempt to find its brother. He’s taken a less gory route for now, this would be his second loop to and from his home to Tommy’s work. He interrogated his coworkers, all of them confirming that Tommy left his place of work exactly at 10 pm with his usually cup of hot chocolate he takes home with him after every shift.
Techno can feel his world start to crumble as he desperately explains this to the dispatch officer. Not caring how the world will see him, as he all but screams out into the night begging for his little brother to come home.
-
Tommy is scared, comfortable and warm, but still scared. He’s not locked in a basement, chains to walls or half beaten to death. Sure he was knocked out and now he has a nasty headache because of it. Maybe not being held in some dingy, gross place would make him feel better, but it doesn’t. It only scares him more as he glares at the bedroom door. It’s locked, and his shoulder hurts from when he tried to ram his body into it. His face feels tight from the tears he definitely didn’t cry as begged anyone to hear him, to save him. Begging Techno to come and help, wanting nothing more then to see his big brother.
He ignores the heaviness that settles into his chest. Kicking himself for being so stupid, he should have called his brother, hell even call Skeppy and ask for a ride. If Techno wasn’t home, Skeppy has never said no to him, and probably never will. Sure he may tease and make fun, but when Techno and him needed anything Skeppy and his family would always be there to give a helping hand.
A fresh wave of tears well in his eyes as he wishes he could go back in time. It’s not fair, why him? Why couldn’t he have just been able to go home to his brother. The door handle to the room clicks and Tommy freezes. Head shooting up in time to see a two people stand in the doorway. He can feel their eyes on him, it makes his skin crawl.
“See dad, a new son!” One says, there’s not enough light to see which one.
He pales. Nothing is said but a hum, but that doesn’t matter as tears stream down his face.
Son? He doesn’t have a dad, not anymore. He has an older brother who would do anything for him, he doesn’t need a dad.
“Wilbur, we talked about this.” The time is scolding, slightly amused. Like he’s taking about being surprised with a stray dog and not a kidnapped child.
“I know, but I can see how an empty nest has been affecting you. So, look at it this way, you get a new son, and I get a brother!” He assumes Wilbur says.
Tommy is scared shitless, but he can feel his anger bubble under his skin. Staring at the two with a mix of horror and fury. Upset that they think they can just take him away from his home, and talk about him like he’s some fucking pet.
“What the fuck are you talking about!?” Tommy shouts, curling tightly in on himself. “I have a brother! I don’t need a stupid fucking dad! Let me go home!”
The air suddenly felt tense, the silence deafening. But he glares at the two, refuses to back down. He wishes he was at home, one hug from Techno and everything will be alright.
“He’s a brave, I’ll give him that.” Not Wilbur says, in a tone he can’t quite describe.
Tommy wants to scream, he wants to sob and cry, he wants to be held tightly in Techno’s arms. And strangely he wishes for his parents, wanting to hear his mom whisper her reassurances. Wanting to feel his dad’s steady presence, he cries more.
“When my brother finds me, you’ll pay. He will make sure you pay.” He sobs into his knees.
He can hear a set of footsteps, suddenly feeling like a deer about to be ambushed.
“Look at me mate.” It’s not asking.
He looks up, not wanting to find out what would happen if he didn’t.
He’s met with red, crimson, like freshly spilled blood. He feels his heart stop for a moment, suddenly unable to get in a proper breath. His fear leaving him paralyzed at he looks into the eyes of a creature that is supposed to be a myth.
He hears it laugh, before speaking again. “I would like to see him try, after all these centuries, maybe someone can finally get close to killing me.”
And all Tommy can do is stare off into space, realizing he might never get to see his big brother again.

SBI FIC ENJOYERS OF TUMBLR
Hello!! :D my name is Issy, and for a few weeks I have been working on a cool fic called ‘Tear The Seas Asunder’.
The story revolves mainly around a prophecy told to Philza about this kid who has water powers, and he dedicates his life to finding him and keeping him safe from people who want to use him for his ability (cough cough schlatt cough cough).
Tommy has no clue he has powers, and somehow manages to get himself adopted by the SBI, the most feared and infamous pirates of the ocean.
Family ensues. (And a lot of bedrock bros because they mean sm to me)
First chapter is being posted tomorrow, so if you thought this even sounded remotely interesting, it would be very cool if you checked it out :D my ao3 is ‘issybettyx’, so if you wanna know when it’s posted i would recommend subscribing, or just check ao3 tomorrow or friday, either or :)
Some snippets below of chapter 1, spoiler warning obv
