Satogou Week 2023
Hello, everyone! The Satogou Week tumblr is back again this year!
As you know, Satogou Week runs from December 1 to December 7th... buuut, don't worry if you run out of time and post later in the month! What's important is having fun as a community!
Prompts:
Day 1) Letter / "more than kisses, letters mingle souls."

SatoGou Week 2021

Ever since Ash and Goh became partners, they've been growing, changing and living lives they didn't foresee before their fateful encounter.
Before meeting Ash, Goh was reaching for a future where Mew would be his first pokémon. That was his dream. The path to Mew started and ended with Mew... that is, until Ash put the thought into his head that Scorbunny wanted to be his partner. Although Goh still wasn't ready to give up on his goal of making Mew his first pokémon, Ash played a role in helping Goh consider other possible futures.
Little did Goh know at the time, he would've been holding himself back in so many ways had he not changed his mind. Part of his growth as an individual comes from the pokémon he's caught and come to care for, play with, and battle alongside. He's living a much fuller life now, and it's partially thanks to Ash bringing to his attention here that Scorbunny wanted to join Goh.
All of this helped Goh prepare in ways that he wouldn't have been able to in order to try out for Project Mew. All of this helped Goh feel a little less socially isolated as his heart was touched with kindness. All of this helped begin the healing process that would allow Goh to trust others again.
A journey without Ash and Scorbunny would've led Goh down a much different road in life.
Before meeting Goh, Ash hadn't yet figured out what was next for him in life. The Champion of Alola was back in Pallet Town living life without any real direction. After meeting Goh, their combined insights on the legendary pokémon Lugia led Professor Cerise to ask them to become research fellows at his newly opened institute. Ash and Goh held two very different perspectives on pokémon; one based more on emotion and feeling, the other on analysis and data collection, and the professor saw the value in both perspectives.
This in itself was a change for Ash that allowed for growth and a chance to experience a different side of life, but it wasn't until Goh researched the World Coronation Series and explained to him how he could battle Leon that his growth as a trainer and person would continue in new ways. Ash had no idea how he could reach his dream of battling Leon and his tendency to fantasize about it rather than learn how to go about it was holding him back on making his dream a possible reality... until Goh stepped in and explained how the ranks work and how to reach Leon.
It was Goh that helped Ash change his mindset from dreaming about something to taking action, and it's because of Goh that Ash started growing again by competing in the WCS.
A journey without Goh may have meant no WCS for Ash and he would've been that much further behind in his goal of becoming a Pokémon Master.
Ash and Goh are partners in more than one sense. They owe each other so much yet they've given each other even more. They celebrate both the big things and the little things in life because they know life is worth celebrating, especially when they're together.
And they'll never stop looking out for each other because of how much they mean to each other...
... or how much they want the journey they're on together to go on forever.

[Summary]
Project Mew is dangerous, obviously it's dangerous, obviously Goh is reckless and risky in pursuit of his goals, but he doesn't understand why Satoshi has to go and risk himself along with him. Satoshi wishes Goh would be less reckless, but there's some hypocrisy to the idea.
“No one would’ve thought it was bad to let me go. Even if something had happened, no one would have blamed you. I knew what I was doing was reckless, I just… I had to.”

Day 2: Trust / “Sometimes, reaching out and taking someone's hand is the beginning of a journey. At other times, it is allowing another to take yours.” ― Vera Nazarian
“They’re waiting for you out there.” They both know this. There’s no reasons for Goh to state the obvious.
Then again, there’s no reason for Ash to be hiding in the dressing room, when a stadium full of people has come to see him.
“I can’t do this.” He confesses, small and vulnerable. And Goh has to do a double take because there’s no way those words have just come out of his friend’s mouth.
“I don’t know anyone else who can,” He replies. It’s not meant to be encouraging. It’s just a fact.
Goh works with facts and numbers all day, he understands probabilities, and why some events are more likely than others. He’s a rational, data-driven man.
He’s run all the numbers for today and, with Ash’s experience, his current roaster, and the way he’s prepared for this moment for the last ten years, all the calculations say he’s got an eighty percent chance of winning the battle today.
Goh is a rational, data-driven man, and today, he has decided probably can take a holiday, because he is one-hundred-percent sure Ash will win the match.
He knows it, because he knows the man sitting with his head buried in his bent knees in front of him better than he knows himself.
He knows it, because he’s put his life on the line for this man before, without a moment’s hesitation. That’s how much faith he has in him. That’s how much he trusts him.
He knows it, because this is the man he loves.
“Come on. I didn’t come all the way here to watch you give up.” Is what he says, “And neither did you.” He adds.
“Goh - ”
“You are going to win.” He promises. The numbers - and his heart - say so, and there’s nothing but calm confidence in his voice when he says the words to his anxious friend. “You’ll win today.” He repeats. “Now, come on.”
There’s a hand stretched in front of Ash’s kneeling body. Tan and steady.
Ash has held that same hand many times. Sometimes to get out of trouble, sometimes to jump straight into it. It’s a comforting constant in his life. It’s the hand of a friend that hasn’t left his side. Not even when things have been at their hardest.
It’s the hand of the one person in the world he trusts unconditionally. The person who would never lie to him.
And if he says Ash will win today, then he will will today.
He reaches out, hands clasping, sealing a promise as blue-eyes meet brown.

SatoGou Week 2021
Day 7) Journey / “Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage” - Lao Tzu

"Right! And you too!"
Goh and Ash, encouraging each other to chase after their respective dreams (episode 6).
Simple words, right? Sometimes the simplest words have the most meaning, and mean even more when they are joined with actions. Ash and Goh not only believe in each other's strength to succeed at their own goals, but they give each other courage to not give up on their respective journeys.
Sometimes it's hard to be strong and find the courage to not give up, even when one's companion is there beside them. Ash and Goh have both had moments like those, and that's okay, because one will always look out for the other during these times.
When Goh was feeling down about all the lab's data that they collected together potentially being gone forever, Ash was there to help him focus on something that always brought him joy: caring for his pokémon.
When Ash had a series of loses and his dream of battling Leon seemed to be fading, Goh was there to take his mind off of it all by convincing (more like dragging, but hey, tough love works sometimes) him to go investigate a mystery in another region.
Having a special bond with someone isn't just about being there for the good times and celebrating the successes; it's about not leaving their side during the bad as well. It's easy to stumble now and again on life's journey and it always helps to have someone there to extend a hand and help you back up.
Ash is that someone to Goh and Goh is that someone to Ash.
