i started playing max payne 2 and was immediately so put off by how he no longer has sam lake's face that i decided to put together a collection of some of the max payne 1 panels that i really liked. enjoy <3
it’s so nice hearing in all the behind-the-scenes videos with remedy’s games how much the actors get involved with influencing their character and knowing their backstory
Some thoughts on “nightless night”the thing that keeps fucking me up besides the spiral thing is that weird aspect of maker meeting creation. with Sam Lake playing as Casey, he is a fictional creation of Zane/Alan but in this film it weird seeing him kinda being intimidated by Ilkka/zane knowing he created the Alan wake character. Also the aspect of someone has to remain in the room so i guess Casey is trapped there now that Zane is out… but what does that mean for alan?
I've been thinking non-stop about Sam Lake's BAFTA nomination for like 24 hours (I blame the post-op painkillers) and I've decided that it's actually not that weird of a choice, because he killed it in Yötön Yö
Sam Lake: To me Ilkka Villi is physical actor of Alan Wake and Matthew Porretta is the voice of Alan Wake. That is who Alan Wake is. There was never any question of Alan Wake being portrayed by anyone else.
Matthew Porretta: This is how it works: Ilkka would paint a picture and then he'll send it to me, and then I'll paint a little bit on a picture and then I send it back to him. There's this kind of collaboration we do. And it's very rare that you see us in the same place together. It's singular and it's ours.
“Easily the worst thing the show did was rush through a dozen and a half of the “smaller” awards, with Geoff Keighley quite literally shouting them at the screen, rapid fire. You could blow through Best RPG, Best Racing/Sports Game, Best Multiplayer Game and Best Art Direction before you could finish a sip of the drink you no doubt needed to get through the evening. These awards are significant achievements for each game that wins them, and no one involved in these “lesser” categories gets to make an acceptance speech, and they’re not acknowledged for more than a split second. It’s callous and beneath something at least claiming to be an award show.”
“Ah, but what if you do win a “real” award? Well, you get essentially 30-45 seconds to make your speech, which seemed like a hard limit after Christopher Judge’s sprawling eight minute Best Performance speech last year. But that led to ridiculous, almost insulting moments like Astarion actor Neil Newborn having to rush through his heartfelt speech, or Alan Wake’s Sam Lake, Sam Lake getting played off early.”
