Modern enemy of the warlords
This is just a little headcanon I have in mind. During the sengoku era, every warlords' enemy is the opposing warlords and traitors. But if they went to the modern world...who or what will they considered as their enemy?
Nobunaga
Dentist.
He has the same VA as Gintoki and there's also an episode where Gintoki went to dentist so it's easy to imagine him wailing like a kid internally.
You will only get him to the dentist because you work together with Hideyoshi to trap him.
No way he would come voluntarily.
Everything about dentist just unsettle him.
The boring waiting room, the sound of the tools, the distinctive odor, and the idea that someone has to gain access to open and meddle with his mouth (only you can gain free access).
Of course it was Hideyoshi who insists his lord to get a check up because his sweet tooth lord won't give up on eating sweets.
cue glaring
But the sound of terror coming from the tools are stronger than any enemy he had faced.
He will cease the glare and throw pitiful puppy look toward you as last resort.

Nope. Not working. Hideyoshi already gave strict instructions to you.
After the treatment, nobunaga never felt this betrayed before. He even prefer Mitsuhide to betray him for real rather than being dragged to the dentist.

Why? If you combine Mitsuhide's trickery and Masamune's recklessness into one occupation you'll get a magician.
Seriously tho...he will get a heart attack if you bring him to watch a magic show with dangerous stunt as a surprise.
It was a bad surprise idea because...

You need to silence him down before he interrupted the show and start his lecture about safety.
You'll have to tell him that everything is scripted and safe...most of the time.
"But it's still unacceptable to see people play around with their lives like that."
He also dislike them more when you told him that there are also those who can hipnotize other people.
Even a simple card tricks will annoyed him.
Maybe it's because it gave him the same familiar sensation like being fooled by Mitsuhide.

Have you heard the news?
Lately in Japan there's this group who terrorize sushi restaurants by licking the soy sauce bottles, tea cups, and sushi on conveyor belt (the culprits already got arrested).
Masamune as the chef of the group and the one who appreciates food the most, definitely won't tolerate this act of disrespect toward foods.
If the culprits are still running loose, he will hunt them and whoop their asses.
"so you lads were the naughty nasty kittens who ran around licking things? You should have told me. I have better "catnip" for you lads to lick. Oi Ieyasu, give me your best batch of sauce and pepper."
You better believe the culprits find enlightenment after tasting Masamune's "special" course.

Pesky sales
Whether it's shady neighbors who tried to recruit him to join shady group or average sales who diligently offer their products...all of them annoyed him.
"No, I don't need it. Leave me alone."
You started to wonder why he seem to be attracting the attention of those sales.
There were always several sales flocking on him wherever he goes.
Maybe because he looks soft and an easy target for them?
He became more grumpy and decided to wear a hat, glasses, and mask whenever he goes out.
In addition, there was that one time when someone offer free pack of tissues on the street.
He accepted it but he was curious why there is a phone number on it.
He asked you and you told him that's a phone number to order a "service" from those ladies.
(โ„ โ„โ€ขโ„ะ”โ„โ€ขโ„ โ„) He was blushing hard and found those sales tactic as unbelievable. He became more cynical and suspicious toward any kind gesture from modern people.
Mitsunari
Scammer
He might also have the same problem as Ieyasu since he also look like an easy target. But he managed to unintentionally blinded them with his angelic smile and steer them away...almost like they are being manipulated. Of course that's also thanks to your help for teaching him what's right or wrong in this era.
But even Mitsunari can found something as unpleasant.
It was during a date. You brought him to a traditional japanese festival.
There were a lot of stands but a particular stand picked his curiosity.
It was like a gambling game with prizes.
He was observing how it works. He noticed that something is off.
He confronted the owner by asking a barrage of questions and ended it by presenting his calculations to prove that the game is rigged.
Winner: Mitsunari.
Yes, it's similar to karma akabane but Mitsunari did it without ill intent.
Mitsuhide
Ah...he is a hard one.
He is too composed and smart for his own good.
But...even Mitsuhide should have his own fair share of struggle in the modern world.
Fangirls with moe power.
Act suspicious and smug all you want, but you are weak against strong and straight forward affections, right Mitsuhide?
His mysterious allure might attracted fangirls, otaku, and even creepy stalker fans like sasaeng.
He learns that people in this era can be more aggressive in their approach when it comes to forming a relationship or admiring someone.
Poor kitsune.
He can't keep up with the power of moe.
You offered to console your exhausted kitsune.
Like Ieyasu, in the end he decided to disguise himself when he goes out.
Kenshin
Pretty much everyone and everything.
He hates the police for forbidding him from carrying his sword.
He hates those scouts who keep trying to scout him into modelling, host, and even boyband.
He hates those small fry criminals like molesters (if they touch you, they die).
He hates those who keep staring at him with glimmering eyes.
Imagine a scene from ouran high school where there is this yakuza guy who glares at a bunch of girls, but the power of moe is stronger than his glare. It's similar with Kenshin.
He has similar problem like Mitsuhide, but Kenshin is too...rebellious to hide himself. Hiding is not in his nature.
He won't disguise himself unless you ask him.
"How dare you order me around. Are you trying to get in my way?"
Oh yeah..he will also hate rules like limited purchase.
Shingen
This one is unusual. I can't see him as disliking someone strongly. So...
Low ceiling.
Yep, it's a struggle for all tall people who came to Japan.
Walking in the hallway? He need to bent a bit.
Sometimes his head bonk into hanging direction plates.
Just...don't take him to a capsule hotel if you want a steamy night with him.

It's like in a room full of lord Shingen.
Poor boy can't take the heat and wanted to leave immediately.
He is more astounded when you told him that they don't even flirt genuinely.
Seems like a fitting job for his lord. Of course, he won't allow it if his lord really did want to become a host.

Last Monday of the Week 2023-07-03
There's situations but I'm handling it and everything will be fine
Listening: Missed the latest song from We Kill Cowboys, Pink Codeine. I love We Kill Cowboys but they do most of their music live and release albums almost never, and even when I still lived in South Africa they mostly play around Cape Town, so I have not heard much of their new shit barring what lands up online.

They changed labels to Mongrel Records recently. Mongrel handles a lot of the heavy rock stuff around ZA, some good bands including Acid Magus, Springbok Nude Girls, All This For Nothing, and Ruff Majik.
Reading: Kaiju Preservation Society, sci-fi fluff from Scalzi. A guy down on his luck during The COVID gets recruited to go along as grunt labour on a scientific expedition to parallel universe Greenland, where there are giant kaiju roaming around in tropical forest.
Very loose spec bio that is nonetheless fun to read about, Kaiju are giant nuclear-powered walking biomes covered in various parasites, commensalists, and mutualists that scour the nearby area for food and give some to the Kaiju in exchange for mobility and protection. Like if mycorhizzal fungi were wolves.
At its best it is a light workplace comedy on a research base, and a moderate action romp. There is a story but it's not anything special. It is fun that our Protagonist has a literature masters and is there mostly to move heavy objects. I enjoy the feeling behind scientific expedition living and I'm still a little bitter about not getting on the Antarctic expedition so I enjoy reading stories about similar environments.
Very much "I wrote this in COVID when all I could think about was COVID and I wanted to imagine a guy for whom pretty much everything goes okay." I enjoyed it enough, with modern sci-fi style snark and snappy one liners.
Watching: Nothing, fell behind on the Fast and Furious watch because it's hard to write about #4, since it's just #1 again.
Also assembling a bunch of Ikea furniture, I have a home office desk now and more than the bare minimum space to stash clothing. In a month or two I'll also have a desktop computer, but that's future me problems.
Making: Made bread as part of what will hopefully be an ongoing project to improve my breadmaking. I can almost always make something vaguely serviceable but it's always pretty random whether I can get bread to behave the way I want it to.

Playing: Also very little, did another bonus level or two in Terra Nil. The challenges are much more interesting in the bonus levels, they force you to consider some much longer view tasks like "leave enough low lying soil intact for wetlands" and "manage river access for your cleanup" but still not too challenging on normal mode.
Tools and Equipment: When I was choosing a kettle I insisted on one that had a minimum boil volume of no more than 500ml, the one my parents have has a rated minimum of 800ml which is positively wasteful when I mostly boil a single cup for tea. Anyway the one I got has a 250ml minimum boil which is so good. You can do one cup of tea and drain it basically dry. Winning. Great for my sense of accomplishment.

That something bad was the Saturnian Black Sun cult's brainchild, namely Nazism and MKUltra. Why do you think a common thread runs through the German BND, American CIA and the UK's GCHQ? MKd assets like Monarchs are often shared between multiple agencies. This is very much the case for Ben and Cunter, especially given the latter's family ties to the Nazis via Lord Mottistone. The fact that Adam chose the Black Sun logo for his production company indicates three things. He shares the same beliefs as Cunter, serves as another proxy Handler for Ben and uses SunnyMarch to launder money for their illicit activities. This includes proceeds from the sale of Intel and Kompromat, trafficking of all types, fraud, racketeering, extortion, prostitution etc. Why cults? Because they foster groupthink even in disturbed individuals with antisocial traits. Their extreme rituals serve as Kompromat to keep adult members in check while causing their youngest recruits to dissociate, priming them for MKUltra Programming. Why do you suppose Cunter's loaners have been diddled in plain sight? They are being turned into brainwashed tools just like her. The real leaders mainly see their organization as a means to an end. They manipulate dimwits like Cunter who delude themselves into thinking that their genetic syndromes are somehow "divine". This tea is especially timely given what just dropped on DW:

The Making of a Luthier

Luka joins a club for making stringed instruments. Along the way he makes a new friend and learns about the people in his life and about himself.

Luka considered the flier in his hand as he walked down the hallway of his school until he came to the advertised door. Other than the bold heading of "Making Music Mean More," it was a nondescript piece of paper with a room number and a vague paragraph about joining a clubโ€”but Luka knew better than to judge anything by appearance alone.ย 
When he peeked in the doorway, though, it wasn't quite what he expected. Scraps of wood littered the small room and strange tools took command of most of the area. His eyes bounced from one work in progress to the next; even pulled apart he knew how to recognize a guitar.ย 
He knocked on the doorframe, but when no one answered, he took a tentative step in, then another, and before he knew it his hand was lying on an almost-finished piece.ย 
"You have a good eye," a voice said, jolting Luka out of his train of thought.ย 
A blonde girl his age was watching him, her soft blue eyes hiding a laugh behind plastic safety glasses as she paused in her work. Although he didn't quite understand what she was actually working on. Something with a machine that shaved bits of wood off the large piece she was pushing through. The heavy leather apron she wore was covered in sawdust, and when she flipped her braid over her shoulder he could see flecks of wood entangled in her hair, too.ย 
She flicked a switch and the machine powered down. "You here to join our little club?" A quick nod to the paper in his hands made him glance down at it, too.
"Iโ€ฆ wellโ€ฆ what is this place?"ย 
"Officially it's the school's wood shop."ย 
"And unofficially?"ย 
"It's where M. Carpentier lets me make stringed instruments in my spare time. But the headmaster found out and now I need to recruit enough people to make this an official club before she'll let me continue 'wasting school resources.'" She rolled her eyes and propped her glasses up on her head, pushing her bangs out of her face to level him with a look. "So, what do you say, are you in?"ย 
He blinked back at her, then looked down at the unfinished instrument under his fingers. It must've been hers. The labor it must've taken to create, the time she'd put into it already, and all alone in this workshopโ€ฆ she must really love it. He'd never thought about making instruments before, but now that he wasโ€ฆย 
He needed music in his life. But he never wanted to performโ€”commanding attention on stage turned his stomach and he liked being home too much for a life of touring. Maybe this was something he could do behind the scenes that would still help others discover their own voices and talents. Maybe this could be something he could do for him. Making music mean more.ย 
When he looked back up, the girl was watching him with a pleased smile on her face like she already knew his answer but was still waiting to hear him say it.ย 
"Yeah," he finally obliged her. "I'm in. I'm Luka, by the way."ย 
Her smile grew. "Allegra. You know, like the musical term? But with an 'a' instead of an 'o.'" She flicked her glasses back down and offered him a spare pair. "Come on, I'll start you off over here on the belt sander. Less chance you'll cut anything off."ย

It took three months of time stolen in between school and helping out on the Liberty, but finally he was familiar with every machine in the shop and he was ready to try his hand at making his first guitar.ย 
Before he could start, though, he still needed to choose a type of wood to use. It was surprisingly a more difficult decision than he thought it'd be. Was he looking for a warm sound or a deep resonance? Something light and springy or something more durable? The wood shop had plenty of scraps, but when he ran his hand over them none of them seemedโ€ฆ right. He couldn't explain it. But someday he hoped this instrument would be someone's voice. It felt important that he got it right.
Later that week, while he was still weighing Allegra's advice about prices versus sounds, his sister brought someone new on deck and shyly introduced her as "Rose." He couldn't help but smile as Rose flounced around the houseboat like she'd always belonged there, dragging Juleka along by the hand, her bright pink a sharp contrast to Juleka's preferred black, her effervescence practically contagious.ย 
Watching them, it was as plain as day in the way their melodies played against each other: his sister had a crush. Not mutual, butโ€ฆ Rose was fond of Juleka at least. It was more than that, though. They fit together.
Contrast. His eyes widened. That's what he needed. Warmth and mellowness contrasted against something bright and springy. Rosewood and maple. The rosewood he'd have to source, but there was plenty of maple around the shop.ย 
He gave Juleka a jumbled explanation and fumbled with his bike lock in his rush to get to the workshop.ย

"So after we've soaked it, it goes on the jig," Allegra explained, pulling a dripping strip of wood out of the hot water bath it had stayed in for the past hour. "It needs to be wet, otherwise the second you try to put tension on it, it'll just snap."ย 
With an air of expertise, she guided his hands to settle the pliant wood into the shaping jigโ€”one of her own design, she'd told him proudly on his first day. It seemed like a delicate process as Allegra did everything swiftly but in a precise order. Once all the clamps were on, she let out a breath she'd apparently been holding.ย 
"What now?" he asked, still dazed from watching a material he thought would be more stubborn than that bend to her will so easily.ย 
"Now we leave it alone. It'll air dry and harden all on its own."ย 
She smacked his hand away when he went to touch the curve she'd helped him make. Once it dried it would be the swell of the body of the guitar, perfectly curved to fit onto the player's thigh.ย 
Something that should've been too stubborn to bend. His mom's hard-won unyielding independence popped into his thoughts. At some point in her life, Anarka had been in love. Maybe she'd even thought about spending her life with someone. He didn't know anything about his father, but he knew his mother's heart had been broken beyond repair.ย 
She'd been hardened into her final shape, too.ย ย 
And now here he was, exploring a quiet career making instruments. If he hadn't had the upbringing he didโ€ฆ if his mother hadn't been so hurt when whoever his father was walked away from her and her unborn childrenโ€ฆ if she hadn't had to go it all aloneโ€ฆ things could've been different. He could've been different. Maybe Anarka wouldn't have been as focused on raising him to be independent. Maybe she wouldn't have encouraged him to find his own happiness outside of what anyone else thought of him. What anyone expected of him.ย 
"Hello? Earth to Luka?" Allegra waved a hand in front of his face. He shook his head clear and managed to smile. Her eyebrows furrowed as she frowned back at him. "You can't zone out like that in front of a machine, you know."ย 
He paused, his fingers hovering over the still-damp wood, before he opened his mouth to ask a question, then closed it again, choosing his words more carefully than normal.ย 
"Do you ever feel like you're losing parts of yourself when you make these?" he finally asked.ย 
Allegra considered him, and he almost started to apologize for not making sense when she looked over at the guitar she'd just finishedโ€”the one he'd found his first day in the shop.ย 
"I think of it more like finding lost parts of myself," she answered him wistfully. "And letting them go."ย

"This is Ivan," Rose announced proudly. Luka smiled at the gargantuan teen, trying to decide whether to trust his instinct or his intuition. When Ivan waved shyly, Luka's intuition won out and he decided then and there Ivan was a friend.ย 
"He plays drums and writes songs!" Rose was gushing, and Luka just barely caught the worried glance Juleka shot between the two of them. Unneeded, Luka knew, but he couldn't tell her that. Not yet, anyways.ย 
"Welcome to the band," Luka said, extending his hand. It disappeared in Ivan's grip.ย 
It took some cajoling on Rose's part, but Ivan eventuallyโ€”bashfullyโ€”produced a wrinkled piece of paper with a poem written on it. Luka smoothed the crinkles out with the pads of his fingers.ย 
"She screamed and ran away when I tried to sing it," Ivan said, balling his fists in what Luka interpreted as a show of embarrassment rather than anger. "So maybe it's not very good."ย 
Luka's eyes flicked down the paper, then back up at Ivan. He would never bring it up, but he was pretty sure Juleka had told him about Ivan's akumatization. And what caused it. Ivan was in love. Luka smiled as he handed the paper back.ย 
"Did you ever try again?"ย 
By the shy smile that Ivan directed off to the side, Luka figured he had, and had been successful. It was a rare person that was as sensitive as Ivan but as willing to expose himself to rejection more than once.ย 
Later in the shop, Luka picked up the rosewood intended for the fretboard. Solid, sturdy, able to withstand the cut of steel strings over time, but still softer than it looked. Not unlike his new friend.ย 
"Are you using that or what?" Allegra asked from across the room. When he blinked back to where he was, she was watching him curiously.
"Yeah. I was just thinking."ย 
She rolled her eyes at him. "I swear if you start talking in musical metaphors again I'll ban you forever."ย 
"You can't ban me," he said, chuckling as he moved over to his workstation, rosewood still in hand. "I'm the only one who knows how to sweet talk the bandsaw."ย 
She muttered something under her breath about how he was lucky he was cute and he shook his head, smiling, as he started measuring.ย

"What's up with you today?" Allegra asked, her tone bristling. "You're allโ€ฆ spaced out or something."ย 
He shook his head clear of the melody that was looping through his head before he managed to smile. "Nothing. A new song stuck in my head, that's all."ย 
She pursed her lips. "By 'song' you mean you met someone new, right?" When he only nodded, her eyebrows furrowed. "A girl?"ย 
He hummed in response. "One of Juleka's friends. Marinette."๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ
Clear as a musical note, sincere as a melody. Brave enough to find Ladybug on her own initiative and tell her to help his mom. And something more. He couldn't put his finger on it, but when he'd played those chords for her there was something else hiding beneath the surface. A mystery, or a secret. Something important to herโ€”integral, even.ย 
When Allegra didn't answer him, he realized he'd continued humming, not quite as 'to himself' as he'd thought.ย 
"Marinette, huh?" she asked, her tone light but too careful.ย 
Her eyes darted away from his, and she busied herself by whittling a scrap piece of wood she couldn't possibly be thinking of using as color rose to her cheeks. He looked away, guilty of seeing too much again.ย 
He focused instead on setting another piece of mother of pearl in place for the inlay around the soundhole, admiring the unique sheen as the colors shifted in the light. He liked the way there was something more to look for in each piece. If he squinted, he could imagine he could see the whole rainbow the stones offered, but it was still barely beyond his grasp.ย 
"Yeah," he answered softly, smiling to himself as he ran his fingers over his work. "Ma-Ma-Marinette."ย

"Run the booth?" Luka asked incredulously as Allegra pushed a paper into his hands and started pulling guitars off the wall to show at the fair.ย 
"Sure, why not? You know everything about this place, right?"ย 
He stopped her as she reached for the violin she'd made the past year. Seeing it in her hands, finished, he couldn't understand why she wouldn't want to share her passion with others.ย ย 
"It should be you," he said. "I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you."ย 
She paused, staring at his hand on hers. "Won't Marinette be there?"ย 
He let her implication roll off him. She'd seen him go through trying to date Marinette, breaking up with her, and then worrying about how she was avoiding him. But they were friends again, and Allegra knew that. Heโ€™d rather have Marinette in his life as a friend than nothing at all. And the same was true for Allegra. Theyโ€™d spent two years in the shop together. Sheโ€™d taught him everything he knew.ย 
The guitar heโ€™d just finished was as much hers as it was his. She was in every piece of it.ย 
Instead of telling her any of that, he just shook his head. โ€œI donโ€™t think so.โ€ย 
She broke his grip gently and packed the violin and its bow away with everything else. He felt the tension in the air but didnโ€™t know what to do about it.ย 
Finally, she sighed. โ€œI wonโ€™t be here next year,โ€ she said quietly. โ€œWeโ€™re moving to London, and Iโ€™ll be at another school. So itโ€™s up to you to keep this thing going.โ€ She turned and pressed the violin case into his hands, giving him a brave smile. โ€œSo, what do you say? Are you in?โ€ย

Marinette was talking to Andrรฉ the ice cream man when he spotted her. Smiling, he walked up as quietly as he could behind her, intending to surprise her.ย 
โ€œHello, Marinette,โ€ he said, and his smile grew when she jumped. It was nice being friends with her, teasing her. No pressure on anyone.ย 
โ€œLuka!โ€ she yelped, then looked back at Andrรฉ helplessly. โ€œActually, Luka and I are justโ€ฆ uhโ€”โ€ย 
โ€œBuddies,โ€ he supplied, sensing her distress. โ€œWeโ€™re buddies.โ€ย

"I'm surprised to see you here!โ€ Marinette said. โ€œI thought you already knew what career you're going to have."
"I do," he answered easily, "I'm in charge of my school's booth where I tell people about being a maker of stringed instruments."ย 
Heโ€™d led her there as if on instinct. His guitar was on display. Front and center. His hand gravitated to it the same way it always did and he picked it up, mostly to have something to do with his hands.ย 
"What about you, Marinette? Why are you here? Aren't you on your way to becoming a talented fashion designer?"ย 
"I don't know anymore. There's so many careers that interest me in the world of fashion, creation, decorationโ€ฆ" She sighed. "You're lucky you know exactly what you want to do."ย 
"I just listen to my inner voice." He played a few notes on his guitar, listening to the sound it made more than the notes themselves. "This is the first instrument I ever made." Marinette was watching him with wide eyes and he didn't even hesitate. The guitar was in her hands.ย 
"It took me two years," he admitted.ย 
Two years in the shop with Allegra. Two years of finding pieces of himself and putting those pieces and thoughts into the wood. Everyone he loved was there, some way or another.ย 
The inlay heโ€™d created shone in the sun as Marinette admired the guitar, casting a rainbow between the strings for the briefest moment.ย 
The flier had simply read โ€œMaking Music Mean More.โ€ He hadnโ€™t known then that by walking into that room heโ€™d find what he was meant to doโ€”and what he was made of.

BangChan: Growing up in an orphanage, Christopher Bang was already different from the others. His australian accent did nothing to hide his heritage nor did it make him any more popular with the other boys he grew up with. After the districtโ€™s all boys academy, 2PM, came to do their yearly round up of abandoned children to fill their barracks he couldnโ€™t picture his life getting any better. It wasnโ€™t until he ran into 2 other boys named Changbin and Jisung, who were quite similar to himself, that he start to think differently about his life. With the boys that grew to become like his own brothers, Bangchan began to excel in school and soon became the top student of his class. He later meets Minho and recruits him into their little group of strays, and they all mutually agree to make Chan their leader. As Chan continues to excel in school, he eventually earns the title of their classโ€™s Ace, and 2PMโ€™s headmasters offer him and his friends a home as well as a guaranteed job, in exchange for the four of them to work as agents within their organization that is a part of the districtโ€™s secret society. Having no other options, the boys accept their offer. Spending their nights gathering and securing intel for the sale and trade of illegal goods, and causing mayhem wherever they go.

Seo Changbin: Abandoned by his family and left to fend for himself, Changbin grew up a very quiet individual. When 2PMโ€™s school for potential agents came and plucked him from his orphanage, Changbinโ€™s survival instincts kicked in quickly. He was placed in the same barracks as Bangchan and Jisung, instantly forming a friendship with them. They not only motivated him to do better, but also broke him out of his quiet shell he used to hide in so much. Changbin found his combat courses to be quite fun, and decided his specialization in weaponry early on. As the boys grew older he took an interest in improving his body, and began to bulk up as well- leaving his sparring partners looking worse and worse as time went on. The school later dubbed him as the Punisher, and after graduation his headmasters recruited him to do exactly that to their enemies. Though he never received much recognition from his superiors, Changbin was known to be 2PMโ€™s deadliest weapon.

Lee Minho: Quiet, observative, and highly secretive even from a young age, Minho knew his role in life early on. When he entered the school of agents, his classes were scheduled carefully, his teachers already figuring out what kind of agent he would become. Though he was last to join their group of strays, Minho was treated no differently, and though he was quiet, it warmed his heart to find a group to actually belong too. Minhoโ€™s stealth was second to none and it was proven time and time again as his years at the academy went on. He was another student the headmasters made note of as his graduation neared, they knew how useful the silent boy would be to them and wasted no time in getting him under their claws. He of course abided without issue, not for his headmasters, but for the little family he built all those years ago.

Han Jisung: Jisung was quiet for a long time, some thought he would be no help to the academy, and he was almost left behind at his orphanage, until someone found his collection of trinkets he kept under his cot. Jisung would take random wires and metal tools heโ€™d find around the building and create different things in his free time. This was his golden ticket to being accepted and he did not disappoint once he arrived. Though they had extreme trouble with his personality, Jisung excelled in mechanics and anything tech related. After some time, he came around and formed an unbreakable bond with the two boys he shared a room with. Finally letting them, and eventually everyone else see the real, energetic, goofy Jisung. Though his specialty was technology, he learned basic hand to hand combat in case he was ever in the field and graduated with his friends. Bangchan was actually the one to recruit him to work with 2PM after graduating, so that he wouldnโ€™t get kicked out. Of course Jisung accepted. Providing 2PM with their very own golden tech boy.

Kim Seungmin: Growing up in a semi wealthy family within the district, Seungmin always did what he was told without asking any questions. That included going to 2pmโ€™s academy for potential agents. He made some friends throughout his years there, always seeing Bangchan or Changbin in the halls but never really speaking to the group of stray kids in fear of ruining his own reputation. Seungmin found his calling in the medical field. He learned very early on what happened behind closed doors in the academy after many late night wakeup calls to preform bullet removal surgeries, or stitching wounds together in the early mornings. Afraid of what was going to happen to him if he stayed, Seungmin chose to disappear from District 9โ€ฒs radar right after graduation. Until he had a run in with a familiar classmate that eventually changed all his plans.

Hwang Hyunjin: A child that comes from generations of wealth and affluence, Hyunjin was put in the academy of potential agents just like his father and his father before him. As a legacy Hyunjin went through the academy with little to no problems and learned to excel in many different areas. The only issue for him is that nothing of what he was learning in school peaked his interest. He followed through with his families wishes up to graduation, it was then that he said goodbye to the world of District 9 and itโ€™s secret society. Instead he found a secluded place that he knew no one would come looking for him and he found peace within his own ambitions of art and music. That is until he received a call that would change the entire trajectory of his life as he knew it.ย

While I'm talking about misinformation online, let's talk about a factor I don't see acknowledged nearly enough in how it spreads: trust.
I've spent a lot of time studying how to tell a reliable source from an unreliable one. I've taken all the quizzes on the matter I've found. I've even caught and written about a few that were biased as all hell - meta-usage of that skill!
And yet I admit to having believed online misinformation from time to time.
Why?
Because it was shared by someone I knew and trusted.
Problem was, they shared it from someone THEY knew and trusted, who shared it from someone they knew and trusted, who shared it from someone they knew and trusted, who shared it from their friend who they didn't realize was in the early, reasonable-sounding-propaganda stages of being recruited into some fucked up internet pyramid scheme-cult hybrid or something like that.
This is why Discord scam bots like to hijack real users' accounts. This is why hijacking real users' accounts is a malware strategy that dates back to early email viruses. It's a form of sneaky social engineering - we just don't question things that both align with our preexisting beliefs AND are said by someone we know and trust. In fact, by starting on a small, "fine details" level, trust can be used to change someone's worldview, for better or for worse - this is one of the two biggest factors as to why shared interests can be used as a tool for radicalization, right up there with the fact that we tend to develop a sort of metaphorical tunnel vision around things we're passionate about.
The thing is, this is one of the hardest pitfalls to avoid. Even if I consciously know better, even if I know my friends are just as inclined to make this assumption as I am, and so are their friends, and so are their friends' friends, I still catch myself assuming, ah, yeah, I'm sure my friend did their due diligence and isn't accidentally spreading bullshit! Liked and shared!
...except, no. No, everyone else is just as prone to that bias as I am. Just because I'm pretty sure my friends and mutuals all know better than to click on some shady Ray-Bans sale link "a friend" DMed us doesn't mean we're all perfect fact-checkers.
The point of all this is - remember that misinformation isn't just a Stupid People Problem. Your friends can fall for it. You can fall for it. It's very, VERY likely that, at some point in your life, you'll fall for it BECAUSE a friend of yours fell for it, and you trusted that friend. That doesn't make you A Bad Person, nor does it make you stupid for trusting that friend, nor does it make that friend stupid - it means the misinformation sharing machine worked as designed.
The most important thing to do is to recognize this fact and be willing to accept the reality when verifiably corrected.

I find it strange that Wanda and Pietro never thought about getting revenge on the person who gave the orders for two mortar shells to be dropped on their house and the person who obeyed those orders? Killing only Stark wouldn't really avenge the death of their parents, he wasn't the one who directly launched the mortar shells at their house, he just approved the production and sale of the mortar shells. The person who gave the orders for the mortar shells to be dropped into their house and the person who obeyed those orders are just as much to blame for the twins' parents deaths as Stark is. Because even if Stark hadn't sold the mortar shells for them to use in the bombing, it would still happen, but only with mortar shells from another company, like Hammer Industries or A.I.M..
I'm not sure this was properly addressed in the movies but Wanda and Pietro were focused at first in the US Air Force (who had been the ones to orchestrate a number of attacks on Sokovia and devastated Novi Grad) until Hydra approached them and other civilians during an anti US protest and tried to recruit them, it's all in the wiki (x):
HYDRA had found some genetic oddities among the country's inhabitants, which ideally made them candidates for experiments with the Mind Stone. List approached a group of anti-American protesters in the streets of Sokovia, which included the twins Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, in order to convince them that they should not look to their government to protect their rights, but rather fight for them personally.
He offered to provide them with the "tools" they needed to battle their foreign oppressors if they were willing to volunteer for experimentation. The Maximoff twins confronted List, saying they wanted the wars out of their streets, but List claimed that they would need the power to achieve their goals. He exemplified the power he was offering them, saying they had already seen it in Iron Man and the Avengers. The only thing List said he required to grant them a greater future was their consent. Many of the citizens in Sokovia took List up on his offer, including the Maximoffs.
The enemies of the twins were the American forces but probably Hydra steered them more in the direction of the Avengers and more specifically Stark. And once they had their powers it makes sense they would go for something personal to them, and they knew Stark had provided the necessary weapons to destroy their city so they went straight for him and the Avengers. Also it probably didn't go unnoticed by them that after Sokovia nothing happened - or rather, years later Stark gave a press conference after being kidnapped (and a bunch of Americans killed because... who cares if they're not American, right?) to pretend to be a good boy and he just stopped manufacturing weapons, just like that. He didn't face any consequences for it, he kept his privilege and his wealth and his position, he didn't lose anything.
I guess that's probably the worst part and why they focused on him and not so much on a captain or colonel or whoever gave the order to drop those shells on their house: Stark is a very public personality who had been making a fortune out of selling weapons and he was delighted with the life that had granted him, he would go on TV, he'd be praised by the most powerful men in the world, he had built a huge tower with his name on it... it's like a punch in the face, you know. Add to that whatever lies Hydra told them and you got it.

OPM Volume 26 Bonus Chapter Review: Big Promotion
Thanks kindly to @vibhavm and all the others who work to scanslate and put up chapters for us non-Japanese reading fans. This one has honestly been the main reason I've checked the Reddit sub daily for weeks.
Shall we get into it?
I've said before that the manga rewards the rereader. This chapter is full of people we've seen before but we had yet to be introduced to or understand.
Money Doesn't Matter
Agoni used 70% of his personal fortune to establish the Hero Association. Wow, a billionaire actually coming good! Such a pity that only happens in fiction.
Speaking of money, that's the most interesting thing that pops up right away: the top brass at the Hero Association are more than satisfied with their pay packages. Any promotion has to hook them in with status.
In their own ways, they're also do-gooders. They're a lot like heroes. They may not be able to run up to a monster and punch it in the face, but they all want to know that they're doing something that leaves the world measurably better.
Whether this desire is channelled in a positive, useful way or not that's another question. And it's been fascinating to find out how their individual interests feed into their roles.
McCoy wants the Hero Association over everything else. Oh, dear. I don't know about the blackmail, but the incident at the Z-City police station was ugly enough for me.

Jinzuren wants to find the best people. He must be pretty good at his job to have persuaded Atomic Samurai to join. Additionally, his getting praise for recruiting Genos corroborates something both the anime and webcomic have told us, that Genos was a person of interest to the HA long before he thought of signing up. Again, we've met Jinzuren before and saw that he clocked Saitama right away. Indeed, it was his praising Saitama to the heavens that incited Sneak to attack Saitama. Given how clever Jinzuren is, it was no accident -- he wanted Saitama given a poke to see what he was about.

Busho wants his city safe and wants the heroes in the field given what they need. He's shown up a number of times, most famously when he directed Saitama to the Deep Sea King to see what the hero was made of.

Gobrich wants the hero corps as strong as possible, including the C-Class heroes. We haven't met him before, but his frustrations echo many of our critiques about the Hero Association. Why can't the lower-class heroes just be made stronger? Well, heroes are all individuals -- they will not be obliged to diet, train in ways they don't agree with, drugged, and as for body modification, talk to my lawyer. Apprenticing weaker heroes to stronger ones has also failed. The HA just doesn't know how to support its heroes. It's also worth noting that none of Gobrich's initiatives are quick fixes. More on that later.

Torgeva wants the Hero Association to be a cultural phenomenon. His focus on toy sales sounds silly... until you remember that Disney built a huge hegemon just that way. It's good that no one in hero recruitment listens to his ideas on who to get in.
Exma wants heroes to be well-disciplined. It's a really necessary role -- heroes otherwise have near complete freedom to do as they will. Without someone like her, the heroes wouldn't be worthy of the trust the public puts in them. We have seen her before, but we had no idea about her true nature. It's interesting that even she doesn't have an answer for the random walking disaster class that is Class S.

Sitch wants the world to be safe, no matter who does the saving. Him we know well, and we also know his association with Sekingar. I loved Sicchi for not throwing his subordinate under the bus when the rescue operation went sideways, and here he's being suitability protective of Sekingar.
They may not have the right tools or be going about it the right way, but they do really intend well. Well, except for McCoy, whose willingness to be nasty and underhand should have had him sacked with extreme prejudice.
Ah now the future makes more sense
If you're a webcomic reader, you know that a rival hero organization will be established soon. If you're not, you know that Metal Knight is very worried about some observers of the hero world who are looking for their opportunity.
In their own flawed ways, most of the HA officials aren't going to be easy to corrupt. The idea of leveraging public trust and funds to take over the world will have no purchase on the Hero Association brass. They really are straight-laced. I can see why the people behind the Neo Heroes had to build a parallel organization -- these guys aren't easy tools, save for McCoy who wants to helm something huge. In the webcomic, his desire ended up with him working for someone truly evil and stabbing the HA in the back with the same enthusiasm with which he'd stabbed the police for the sake of the HA.

I can see too why the Neo Heroes baited heroes with gifts and treats. A power suit is a heck of a lot easier to get benefit out of than six months of gruelling training, and you get a definite boost.
But that said, the individuality of heroes, which the Hero Association has to work out how to respect while shaping a reliable corps, is exactly the Neo Heroes subvert. Most of the people they recruit like being part of something bigger and like being part of a group. Most of the people they recruit aren't too keen on thinking for themselves and owning the tough decisions in difficult situations. That's the sort of person the HA prizes, even if it makes them tough to work with.
I say it often, but this *is* going to be interesting. A real eye-opener of a chapter, giving us a much-needed perspective on the Hero Association, its foundation, and its people that will help us a lot in the coming storms.
