From what I hear they already voted and should negotiations fail for a new contract come June 30th the actors are joining the writers.

Makes sense. Actors need writers and writers need actors.

It would be cool to see like one person in the WGA/SAG-AFTRA and ACTRA strikes wearing a mask you know? This goes for Pride as well.

It's such a weird world to support and/or be a part of a group of people who apparently haven't even thought about supporting the disabled and high-risk members of their own communities

Every time I see pictures of protests or even creators I used to really respect out in (crowded!) public with no masks I'm reminded that people really just keep practicing causal eugenics like it's nothing. Like we're nothing. Then they turn around and talk about what a huge loss AIDS was to the queer community.

you know, AIDS? that other pandemic that we all fought back against and wore protection against pretty much forever after -- even though it was "inconvenient" and "a buzzkill" and "annoying" -- to ensure we protected one another because we knew no one else was going to do it.

We stand with the Writers Guild America West and Actors Guild (SAG/AFTRA) who are striking for better simple raise in pay wage...

Dude my boyfriend has worked as a background actor. He’s been in multiple projects (coming out i think this and next year?) and he qualifies for SAG membership. He took a break and is currently working at a school instead because it is *already* incredibly difficult to survive just doing background and featured background stuff. We made plans that once there was some money saved, he would go back and join SAG.

The suggestion of only hiring background actors for one day and just scanning them in would have taken away at least 3/4 of the money he made from acting last year.

Idk im just thinking about how hard he worked to get there and his experience with the acting jobs he did, and how little the studios etc. really give a shit about him.

It's crazy that these strikes are happening given that all the writers and actors are asking for is less than 0.3% of the revenue these studios make.
