I feel like The Father and Hell both understand and experience love in all the worst ways.

The Father sought to create a life form that would follow and love him unconditionally. It wasn't enough that he had a great cosmic kingdom of angels who are unquestioningly loyal, no, he needed something that knew suffering and mortality and the threat of oblivion, and would still find love at the end; love for him above all else. But after numerous implied failures at that, in his desperation, he instead created the threat of eternal damnation to force them to love him in order avert that fate. Lucifer's words must have been like a splash of cold water, but by the time he realized sheer magnitude of suffering he had unintentionally set into motion, it was too late. He could not destroy Hell; he could not stop the cycle of violence.

That guilt drove him to seek a death that, from the looks of it, eluded him in spite of the hollowness consuming him. And now he is... somewhere, helpless to stop his experiments from consuming one another and themselves in a glorious show of blood and violence.

And then there's Hell itself, who seems to recognize love as an act of violence and cruelty. It is something that derives joy only from the suffering of other living creatures. God gave it so many toys to hurt and break and reform, and Mankind gave it new ones. Why would it understand love as anything but? It gave Minos a facsimile of the son he is most ashamed of, and delighted when he cast it, once more, into a labyrinth. Gabriel flattened all the souls within it's confines beneath his heel and gave those that did bend false hopes.

Now there's V1, tearing its way through the remaining layers and creating a spectacle of violence like nothing Hell has ever witnessed before. How could it not love them all for all the entertainment they've provided?

But deep within its recesses, hidden away from the eyes of Heaven, there was a Gutterman. A machine built for war, who eventually came to love that which it gave it life at the cost of their own. Enough to give the human welded within their coffin the mercy that both Heaven and Hell had denied them; enough to write a single love letter to them, even knowing that it would never be read by its intended recipient.

So, as things turn out, you /can/ teach a machine to love. And they will understand and experience it more sincerely than God or Hell ever could.

My friend who was killed made the news? Its so bizarre to see her name in the news for this reason. She was always brilliant so her name should have been in the news for something like building new rocket parts or rovers for nasa like she'd always dreamed of, googling her name shouldn't lead to articles about her death or them arresting the guy who hit her or him trying to get out on bail and maybe flee the country. Right now I'm just trying to support her family in their strive for justice, while also dealing with my emotions, and it's all just feels so bizarre. No one tells you how bizarre grief can feel. She deserved so much better than this.

But thank you so much to everyone for your condolences and prayers, I truly appreciate it!

You awoke to a heavy feeling on your chest. Before you opened your eyes you already knew what it was.

You wrapped your arms around the body that laid atop you.

“What’re you doing here love?” You whispered against his head.

Dino looked up at you, his face mere inches from yours.

“I missed you too much, I had to come.”

“I’m glad.” You said placing a soft kiss on his nose.

Suddenly your stomach growled.

“I didn't eat dinner because I was too tired.” You said laughing.

“Then let’s feed you something.” He said getting up and pulling you up with him but you didn’t budge.

“No it’s cold out there.” You said refusing to budge.

He stopped pulling you and went to grab one of his sweaters. You sat up and lifted your arms so he could pull it over your head. He brought your slippers to you and slipped them on your feet.

“There. Nice and bundled! Now that’s eat because I’m also hungry.”

He grabbed your hand pulling you out the room and into the kitchen.

“The others went out to eat but I couldn’t do anything until I-“

He stopped mid sentence and turned around. You didn’t expect him to stop so you crashed into him.

“What’re doing?” You asked wiping your forehead where it now sorta hurt.

He grabbed your face softly with both hands, planting a gentle kiss on your lips.

“Until I kissed you.” He finished the sentence after he pulled away.

He couldn’t resist pinching your checks, he simply found you too adorable and your checks too soft and fluffy.

“You’re ridiculous, you know that?” You said scowling as if you were upset despite the fact that you enjoyed every second. Your cheeks were vibrant with blush from both of his actions.

“What do you want to eat?” He asked, ignoring your grumbling noises about the temperature again the moment you entered the kitchen

You flipped on the light and he opened the refrigerator.

“Oh I didn’t get to go shopping today because I was busy but I’ll go tomorrow. That’s another reason why I didn’t eat, also I was too tired to order.”

He looked at you in disbelief and you simply shrugged.

“This won’t do.” He said dramatically. “I have to baby you don’t I?” He asked while he check the also empty except for your favorite cereal cabinets.

“Possibly, yes.” You said very nonchalantly.

“I’ll order dinner. You sit down and think about what you’ve done.” He said with a mock scolding voice before picking up his phone.

“I want pizza.” You said hopping on the counter and pulling one of your legs to your chest.

He glared at you but still ordered your favorite pizza from your favorite shop.

“It’ll be here in 15.” He said putting down his phone.

You opened your arms and he laughed before giving you a hug.

“I’m so happy you're back.”

You pulled him closer and hooked your legs around his hips. He released the hug a bit and looked at you.

“What’re you doing?”

“Well I can’t just sit here bored for 15 minutes.” You said with a suggestive raise of your eyebrow.

A smirk dancing on your lips that he was now staring at. Holding your chin he leaned in but before he could make contact your fingers were at his sides tickling him.

He laughed and tried to instinctively pull back but your legs were trapping him against you.

“You made a mistake challenging me Channie.”

You were referring to the way he said goodbye to you before he left for tour. A sneak attack when you were distracted.

He grabbed your hands stopping you.

“Okay okay I’m sorry, you win.” He said, still laughing. “Now let me kiss you.”

“I suppose I can be gracious and call it here. You may kiss me.”

He rolled his eyes at your haughty behavior but that didn’t stop him from pulling you in for a warm kiss. Oh how you missed moments like this, even if it was only a couple months. It’s been too long and you were feeling it now.

Your hands creeped under his shirt, having fun feeling around.

“Ohh I think you've gotten bigger!!” You said breaking the kiss to pull up his shirt and take a peak.

Despite his blush he still pulled his shirt all the way off before giving you a better view by flexing.

“You noticed huh?” He said with pride on his face.

“Of course. Now come back here so I can kiss you more.”

You didn’t have to tell him twice. In seconds his lips were back on yours, your tongues continuing their fun little game.

Now it was his turn to feel you up, his hands traveling under your sweater and teasing along your underwear band.

You were getting hotter by the moment, the kisses getting longer and the breathing becoming more shallow. Both of you lost in the moment you found your sweater suddenly discarded and his lips leaving hot kisses against your tour neck and collarbone.

The doorbell surprised you both and you would’ve fallen off the counter if Chan didn’t catch you in his strong arms.

He laughed at you but he knew you had a point so he didn’t bother disagreeing.

You hopped off the counter and slipped your sweater back on before going to grab the food.

“This smells amazing.” You said already digging in.

After grabbing you both a drink Chan sat down and started eating as well.

“I’m not finished with you by the way.” He said between bites.

“Perfect.”

Luigi watched with a small smile as Peasley wrap up his arm. The prince doing his best to cover the rather long and deep cut that had been placed. Peasley was thankful that they could no longer see the red.

“I’m still not used to the fact that your blood…is so red.” Peasley said weakly. Gently running a hand along the wrapped arm.

“Humans and Beans are built differently.” Luigi attempted a small laugh, faltering when the prince didn’t share the same feelings. He reached out to gently take Peasley’s hands in his own. Squeezing them softly. “Hey, I’m fine, really. You don’t have to worry.”

“You can say that to me, but that doesn’t mean I’ll listen.”

“Peasley-”

“I hate seeing you hurt,” Peasley said softly, “I know you’re strong, I know you can take a lot, but… All I can think about is how I could have prevented it. How I could have gotten you out of the situation. It’s all that can run through my mind.”

He let out a shaky laugh. Luigi frowned softly as Peasley wiped away at the corners of his eyes. “Sorry, how silly of me. You’re a hero! You see far crazier things than what you faced today and you always come out on top. I just…”

Peasley’s bottom lip trembled from both holding back his fears and the nervous energy that hit him as Luigi leaned closer. Eagerly accepting the gentle kiss that the human laid upon his lips. Taking a deep breath as his hands carefully travel up Luigi’s arms, making sure not to undo the wrappings he’d just placed.

It was quick and meaningful, the kiss. Peasley letting out a shaky breath as if exhaling his nerves and frustrations. Eyes closed as he stayed in the moment, trying to remember the pressure on his lips only a few seconds ago. Smiling softly as Luigi pressed their foreheads together.

“You’re not silly,” Luigi said softly, “I understand what you’re saying, because I feel the same way. About you, and Mario, and Peach, and so many others. It just means you care about people. I would jump into any attack or fight or anything even like it means it would keep you safe.”

Peasley couldn’t help but laugh again, still feeling shaky. “How is it you’re the one who’s hurt yet you’re trying to comfort me?”

“Because that’s what you do when you…when you love someone,” Luigi swallowed softly. Peasley loved how his human’s cheeks glowed with a beautiful red. Even if he was panicking about it only a few moments ago seeing it drip down Luigi’s arm.

“You love me?” Peasley asked teasingly.

Luigi laughed before poking out his tongue. “Of course I do!”

“I love you as well… Even with your crazy need to take attacks head on.”

“I thought that made me chivalrous?”

Peasley didn’t bother with a verbal reply. Instead bringing Luigi into another gentle kiss, cupping the human’s cheeks in his hands.

Hello everyone! We’ve compiled this handy-dandy FAQ to hopefully answer any basic questions regarding this zine that you all may have.

(As this FAQ has gotten pretty extensive, all of the questions and answers are now listed under the cut!)

FAQ

What’s a fanzine?

A fanzine is a collection of fan works (typically art and/or writing) by fans for fans that focuses on a specific fandom, ship, or character! Most of the time contributors and the team behind a zine are not paid, and the cost of the zine covers production and shipping costs. Any surplus may be donated to charity, or, in the case of a for-profit zine, the contributors and team will be financially compensated.

What’s this zine about?

This zine will be focusing on the daycare attendant (DCA) from Five Nights at Freddy’s in all of their canon variants: Sun, Moon, and Eclipse (including other forms such as the Ruined and arcade cabinet forms and Jack o Moon). We aim to celebrate all canon forms of these characters with a similar number of pieces dedicated to each of their main three forms (Sun, Moon, Eclipse) together or separately.

Will this zine be SFW?

All content produced for this zine will be SFW. NSFW and 18+ pieces will not be included in this zine.

Will ships/pairings be included?

Following feedback from the zine interest check, we’ve decided to focus more strongly on the DCA as characters in general for this zine rather than on romantic pairings. Romantic ships won’t be the primary focus of any pieces for this zine. Platonic interactions and fluff are A-okay.

(Ship lovers please see the question below for an added note on ships!)

Will AUs be included?

Following the zine’s interest check results, for this zine, most pieces will be focusing on more canon-adjacent leaning depictions of the DCA where the designs and/or circumstances are not too far removed from those depicted in canon (for example, where the daycare attendant/s are still working or had previously worked at the pizzaplex, with room for AUs like role swaps where Sun has the more prominent effects from the virus, the DCA working in the theatre or as Glamrocks or on the carousel or something else, the characters being in separate bodies or the same body, etc etc), with some wiggle room for more differentiated AU content and designs to be included in a few pieces so long as it is submitted by either the creator of the AU or with the AU creator’s express permission and depending on the pitch(es) provided by the applicant(s).

(A note on the last two questions: There will be a potential for a bonus PDF or two to be produced focusing more closely on AUs (submitted by the creator of the AU or with the creator’s permission) and/or SFW shipping content depending on contributor interest and availability. This will be separate from the main zine. Interest in this or lack thereof will in no way affect your application and no one will be obliged to participate.)

Will other canon characters / self inserts/ y/n characters / OCs be included?

Other canon characters are completely okay to include so long as the piece still strongly focuses on the DCA! Self inserts, y/ns and OCs may be included so long as:

They have a defined physical design (if drawn) and are either the contributor’s own creation or submitted with the express permission of their creator.

The primary focus of the piece is still the DCA.

What are the general requirements for joining this zine as a contributor?

All zine contributors must be aged 16 or over.

Most zine communications will happen over Discord. Zine contributors should have a Discord account and be willing to use Discord for communications when working on the zine.

Zine contributor applications should include at least one piece (preferably more) depicting the DCA (canon-adjacent or in an AU form where they still have a similar general physical appearance and/or play a similar role is preferred) for a good chance of a successful application. Contributors will also be asked to pitch an idea or two on what they potentially want to do for their piece in the zine which may help secure them a spot in the zine and aid in brainstorming for their piece even if they don’t ultimately use the suggestions they gave for their pitch.

Will this zine be for profit or for charity?

Surplus profits from this fanzine will be donated to charity (when a specific charity has been chosen by the mod team, we will announce this and update the FAQ - suggestions are most welcome!).

Who will be contributing to this zine?

At the heart of this zine from behind the scenes is a team of 8 mods working together to bring you tons of fun DCA content who will be announced in due time!

While exact contributor numbers have not yet been finalised, the zine’s contributor lineup will include something resembling the following:

23 page artists who will draw full-page coloured illustrations with backgrounds as standalone pieces for the zine

5 writers who will each write a short piece for the zine (around 1.5-2k words) which will be illustrated by an accompanying spot artist

5 spot artists who will illustrate scenes to accompany pieces written by the writers working on the zine

2-3 merch artists who will design merch to be produced dependent on the zine hitting certain financial targets

Will mods be allowed to contribute to the zine?

Yes, mods will be allowed to contribute to the zine, if they find that they have the time, but this will not affect the number of other contributors that we take on. Mods will be held to the same standards as every other contributor and must complete the check ins regardless of their mod status. Mods will only be allowed to contribute one piece of work, or may instead opt to be a pinch hitter in the case of a contributor dropping out!

Will this zine be physical or digital?

Dependent on sales, we are hoping on making this a physical printed zine with the option to purchase a digital copy. There will be a selection of bundles available with a range of merchandise.

Are contributors allowed to collaborate?

Two or more contributors may work on a single piece for the zine so long as they work well together! Collaborations will be counted as a single submission.

Will contributors receive a free copy of the zine?

Contributors will receive a free digital copy of the zine and, dependent on sales, will receive a free physical copy of the zine as well. We are hoping to offer discounted or free merch for contributors as well, although this will depend on sales.

In the case of collaborations, whilst each of the collaborators collaborating on a piece will be guaranteed a free digital copy of the zine, each collaborator receiving a free physical copy of the zine will ultimately depend on sales.

When can I apply?

Contributor applications will open on the 25th of March and will close on the 22nd of April.

Can I apply for more than one role?

You can apply for as many roles as you like on the zine (though be sure your application caters specifically to the role you are applying for when you complete each of your applications!), however, you will still only be selected as a contributor for one role. A comment field will be made available in each application form so you can state your order of preference here if you like!

How long will I have to complete my piece if I’m selected?

Zine contributors will have around three months to complete their pieces upon being selected. If you have applied to and are selected to be a pinch hitter (taking a spot in case another contributor drops out) this may vary.

A dumb hypothetical that I think about way too often is the "1 of every Pokémon VS a billion lions" one, because to formulate an answer to this question requires answering a bunch of subquestions to work out just how strong/effective a small handful of Pokémon actually would be in this scenario. Because while there are a lot of Pokémon who could fight a bunch of lions and win, a billion lions is in fact quite a lot of lions, to the point where we struggle to fully grasp the number. Even some of the strongest Pokémon who could arguably take down 100's of lions could still barely make a dent in a billion.

But the subquestions I mentioned don't all apply to the strongest Pokémon (a bunch still do though), but instead to a bunch of specific Pokémon who could be extremely effective in this specific scenario. I will now present some examples:

1. Do the Lions have any way of harming Shedinja?

Shedinja may be a posessed cicada shell with a whopping 1 HP, but it also has the ability wonder guard, which means that only attacks that are super effective can hit it. Lions don't use Pokémon moves, this is because they are lions. Shedinja doesn't need to eat or drink either, it just floats ominously. Therefore, unlike the lions it won't eventually die of hunger or thirst. Are the Lions even capeable of hurting it? And to expand upon this, are they capeable of harming any Ghost type Pokémon? If not, easy Pokémon victory.

2: What about Pokémon that are too hot to touch?

Firstly, I'm not talking about the whole "The Pokémon Sapphire Pokédex says Magcargo is hotter than the sun" thing, because we know for a fact that simply isn't true. However, that doesn't change the fact that there are Pokémon that are at least partially made out of lava/magma (does how you describe their biology depend on where they physically are at the time?). Just like us, stuff that hot is something the lions would want to avoid. How could they defeat these Pokémon?

3: "To protect its Trainer, it will expend all its psychic power to create a small black hole."

Ok, to quickly state the obvious: The Pokédex is pretty far from being a reputable peer reviewed journal. But it is also our best source of info on what Pokémon are capeable of, and it repeatedly states that Gardevoir can create "a small black hole". What a "small black hole" means exactly is honestly really unclear. Is it an actual black hole? If it is than Gardevoir could singlehandedly make a huge dent in the number of Lions.

4: Adjusting the Weather Forcast

So, flooding the entire planet would defeat the lions, and so would a permanent drought. These two are both capeable of causing one of those things each. But both really want to do their thing, and really don't want the other to do their thing. Could they come to a peaceful agreement in the face of a common enemy (the lions), or would they continue to fight? Also, would they even have time to complete their weather based win conditions? Kyogre's would work faster, but flooding the entire planet would take quite a lot of time…

5: The big one, what is usually the ultimate argument in favour of the Pokémon. Is Arceus actually God?

If Arceus is God, than instant undeniable dub for Pokémon with 0 questions asked. But, there's an issue with Arceus's divinity that many people aren't aware of. Arceus has claimed that it is God and that it created a bunch of the other legendary Pokémon, and the Pokédex corroborates this. BUT! The truth of this myth relies upon Arceus being the first Pokémon. This is where Arceus comes into question, because we already had a first Pokémon:

Mew, who has been in the series since gen 1, and who is theorised (in universe) to be the common ancestor of all Pokémon. Mew was therefore the first species of Pokémon, from which all other Pokémon are descended. But then how is Arceus also the first Pokémon? The question of whether Arceus is God or just an absurdily powerful Godlike Pokémon depends on whether you adhere to Pokémon creationism or Pokémon evolutionary theory. Basically though, there's a chance that Arceus may not actually be God, which changes things quite substantially.

Some less important questions that still Kinda matter (a little):

Just how hard is Registeel? It's hollow, but made of "a material that is harder than any known metal" (quote from Bulbapedia) could the Lions deal with that?

Yveltal steals the lifeforce of living things around it, Could it slurp up a billion Lions?

How many Lions could Guzzlord eat?
