Rupert Giles x fem!reader, slight Wesley Wyndam-Pryce x fem!reader
Word Count: 2.6k
Warnings: younger reader (12 years younger than Giles but super legal ofc), btvs season 3 spoilers, jealousy/insecurity, drinking, light insinuation to smut
Author’s Note: I know this is literally not on the list of things I was supposed to write and I’m going to get to the requests tomorrow I think but the fact there’s so little giles content makes me wanna DIE. anyway here’s this <3 watching buffy season 3 and feeling things for him.
Summary: Set in season 3 when Buffy gets Wesley as the new Watcher. The reader, the assistant librarian and also Giles’ girlfriend, gets hit on a bit by Wesley and Giles gets protective™.
Genre: mostly fluff!
I don’t own these characters. They belong to author/director/creator

“They’re sending in the new Watcher soon,” Rupert murmured. He was sitting on the couch in front of you. You could only see the back of his head but you could tell what kind of look he had on his face. Contempt, annoyance, some disappointment lacing his features. He had a glass in his hand, his arm over the back of the couch. He glanced back at you in the kitchen. “I fear I might be a tad unbearable for the next couple of days.”
“You’re always unbearable,” you quipped, grabbing your own glass as you finished pouring it. “That's what I like about you.”
You knew Giles was extremely worried about Buffy’s new Watcher. It had been the topic of conversation ever since Buffy’s test. It had also been a general point of contention; how could he let her go through that? Though now that he was being punished through various other means, you laid off on the argument.
“Do you know who it is?”
“No. They won’t tell me. Fear of my reproach I imagine.” He shook his head a bit. “I can’t believe they’re allowing someone else to come in after Gwendolyn Post.” You stayed silent. It was better to let him just talk through this himself, without any kind of argument or solace from you. “Buffy will never trust someone as she trusts me. Trusted me that is, I suppose. I never should have gone through with it. No, don’t say anything. I’m just conceding to your earlier point, I know.” You rolled your eyes.
“Relax. The Watcher won’t be here tonight…” you put your hand on his arm. “So let’s not talk about him hm?”
“You’re being suggestive. Is it because I conceded to your point?”
“One of the various reasons,” you explained. “Relax Rupert. I have no ulterior motives, I’m not a vampire, I’m not possessed. I’m just a girl in your house with some light alcoholic suggestion.” He nodded slowly.
“You know, I don’t need that much convincing.”
“I know.” You grabbed his drink and put it down on the coffee table. He admired you with an eyebrow raised until your phone rang. You groaned, picking it up beside the drinks. “It’s Buffy.” He let out a soft sigh.
“Duty calls.”
“Hey, it’s my phone. Maybe she just wants to gossip.”
“Moments like these I remember we’re from slightly different generations.” You rolled your eyes and answered the phone.
“12 years is not that many years. Hey Buffy.”
“Arguing about your age difference again?” she said over the phone.
“Always. Ever the straight.” You kicked your legs up onto his lap. He grabbed his glass back from the table and took a drink.
“I have said you have odd taste in men right?”
“Once or twice. What can I do for you?”
“Was gonna ask if you want to go to the Bronze with Willow and I before patrol. I fear this will be my last night Watcherless.”
“Does she know I can hear her?” Giles questioned. You shrugged.
“I would love to come but I think I’ve got my hands full over here. Men's feelings are hard.”
“Tell me about it,” Buffy muttered. You could almost see her rolling her eyes over the neverending Angel ordeal.
“You should go,” Giles said. “I’ll be fine.” “I made plans I don’t like to break,” you pouted. “Rain check Buff?”
“Sure thing.”
“Have fun.”
“I would say you too but that brings awful images to my brain.”
-
You came into school a little bit late. You were working as library assistant, at Snyder’s hope to keep Giles the least destructive as possible. Giles woke up ungodly early and usually had several cups of coffee before you even saw him.
You pushed open the doors to the library, holding your bag to your side. You slowed at the sight of a man you didn’t recognize by the check out desk. Your eyebrows furrowed as you tried to place the suit. Familiar, but foreign. The man turned around, revealing some glasses and an even looking face.
“Good morning,” he said, just as evenly.
“Good morning…” You craned your neck to look behind him, wondering if you had suddenly entered a world with a different librarian.
“Are you here for the librarian? He’s out at the moment.” He stumbled over his words a bit, making you unsure of his dedication to the sentence.
“Who are you?” He cleared his throat.
“Wesley Wyndam-Pryce.” He offered his hand. You shook it, warily.
“Wesley Wy-” You paused and thinned your lips. Maybe it was the British accent that gave him away or maybe it was the suit. “Are you the new Watcher?” His eyebrows raised.
“I take it you know about the slayer” You shook your head.
“Just a tad. I swear I’m not a threat, just a friend. Y/N.” He nodded once, looking you over.
“What kind of friend?” You scoffed a bit.
“You Watcher’s have a type,” you observed.
“Hm?”
“Where’s Rupert?”
“Out.”
“What was it? Westley?”
“Wesley. Wyndam-Pryce.” You nodded, pointing a finger at him. He smiled shakily, looking down. You opened your mouth to speak when the door opened again.
“Oh man. You’ve met the new Watcher,” Buffy observed. Wesley straightened up and cleared his throat. “Getting along?” “Well,” he observed. Buffy raised an eyebrow at his stiffness and then glanced back at you. “I wonder if the Watcher’s have a book that says what kind of girl they’re allowed to go for. Maybe Giles just stuck a picture of you somewhere and this guy read it wrong.” You rolled your eyes.
“Do you know where Rupert is?”
“Nope. He’s not my Watcher anymore, remember?” she said, defeated. She passed you further into the room. You put a hand up in defeat.
“He could be dying and none of us would know.”
“I’m sure he’s alright,” Wesley promised. “Are you and Rupert…”
“Yeah,” you said curtly. As if on cue, Giles walked into the room, holding a stack of books, looking completely in his natural habitat. “Thank God. Giles.” He halted when he caught sight of the two of you.
“You met the replacement.”
“I did. He’s a little stiff.” You squeezed his bicep. He watched you do it. “I was looking for you.”
“Is everything alright?” He put the books down on the counter. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Just wasn’t sure where you had run off to and I like keeping tabs.”
“That’s unhealthy,” Buffy noted.
“Your boyfriend is dead,” Giles retorted. She shrugged with a point taken look on her face. You turned back to him. Wesley gave a once over at the two of you. Giles had put a hand on your upper arm, a gesture that was familiar to the two of you. You took the top book off his stack.
“Whatcha reading?”
“You’re miraculously calm.”
“One of us has to be.” You took the book and walked over to sit beside Buffy. She was eyeing the new Watcher intensely, like the whole world could come down at her mere gaze. Knowing her, you wouldn’t be surprised.
“He’s gonna say something stupid,” she muttered.
“Hm?” you asked. Wesley was looking at Giles.
“Don’t you think she’s a bit on the younger side for you?”
Silence went over the room as the words seemed to hang in the air. Giles stared bullets into his former colleague.
“I don’t think that’s any of your concern,” he said coldly.
“She looks closer to the slayer's age. My age. I have every right to ask, as a proceeding member of the council and part of the investigation towards your extermination.” Giles took a step forward, too close. You were suddenly reminded of the ‘not so booksmart’ person he used to be, the one who would throw a punch before working with words. You stood back up.
“Keep her out of your mouth or so help m-”
“Alright,” you intervened. You stepped between the two of them. “I’m only 12 years younger but you flatter me. Giles, a moment?” You grabbed Rupert’s arm, gently pulling him in the direction towards his office. It took him a moment, not wanting to digress from the standoff. Eventually he followed.
“Don’t leave me here all by my lonesome with this guy,” Buffy pleaded.
“Vetoing your contribution here slayer,” you called back. She let out a huff, returning to staring bullets. You shut the office door gently behind you.
“That’s a tad dramatic,” he pointed out. “I’m fine.”
“I’m not going to put words in your mouth but I’m allowed to observe, yeah?” He pursed his lips, shoving his hands in my pockets. You nodded. “Other Watcher, bad. Wiles Westley Watchamacalllhim is making you, Rupert Giles, sad. You want Buffy to remain under your watch, lack of better word, and this new man is now stepping all over your toes in that regard. Observations correct?”
“Generally.”
“What am I missing?” He shook his head.
“It’s not important. Move on with your speal please.”
“Buffy won’t trust this man the way she trusts you. She never could, you have too much history. You have the upper hand here, despite the council not backing you up. He’ll never be half the Watcher you are,” you promised. You grabbed his hand. “Speal over.”
He nodded gently, rubbing the bridge of his nose.
“You do have a way with words.” You laughed gently, shaking your head.
“I’ll try to be more Bronte later.” He squeezed your intertwined hands, a defeated smile on his lips.
There was a knock on the office door. You rolled your eyes and released his hand. You swung open the door to meet Wesley on the other side.
“I have to speak to Mr. Giles.”
“He’s all yours Wes.” You patted his chest as you walked past, back to Buffy.
-
As the day wound down and everyone started home, you were stuck in the library still. You loved the place but the more you spent in it with two Watchers, the more you were starting to see its lesser qualities. Giles had followed Buffy and Faith out to have a generally mentor-like talk.
Leaving you alone with Wesley.
“So you know of Buffy because of Giles?” he questioned. You raised your head from the book you were reading. You had hardly noticed him watching you. He had a cup of coffee in his hand, standing disgustingly straight. You sat on the steps.
“I was assistant librarian. Almost died by vampire. Happens to the best of us.”
“He fraternized with a colleague?”
“Continues to do so. Don’t look so jealous, Wes.” You put the book to your chest. “You’re ruining the perfect balance of the scooby gang you know.”
“Perhaps it needed to be out of kilter. I don’t see it going swimmingly right now.” He walked over to you. You looked up at him, observing his very even stature. You wondered, not for the first time, if Giles looked like this when he was a little younger. “What are you reading?”
“Rereading.” You glanced at the book. “Wuthering Heights.”
“Classic.”
“Yes sir. One of my favorites. Helps me forget about the neverending impending doom,” you muttered. He looked awkward for a moment and then sat down beside you on the steps. You raised an eyebrow.
“I’ve always enjoyed a bit of light fiction reading.” You opened your mouth to speak, reading the signals he was not so eloquently putting off. You were interrupted by the library door opening.
Giles slowed his walking speed at the sight of you. Wesley stood up, embarrassed. You gave Rupert wide eyes, a gentle I don’t know sign.
“Go do Watcher duties won’t you? The girls need someone to watch them before patrol.” Wesley wanted to argue but noted the look in Rupert’s eyes and decided against it. He gave you a nod and then passed him to leave the room.
You were alone with Rupert. Finally.
“Wuthering Heights?” he asked gently. You nodded, a small smile on your face.
“Am I so predictable?”
“You’re a classic.”
You leaned against the railing, watching him with admiration in your eyes. There was something special about emotions fluttering around the room, knowing there was something to be said and something understood. You softly patted the stairs beside you. He walked over, sitting down without a word.
“You know what I’m going to say,” he breathed. You grabbed his hand, staring down at it as you traced the lines of his palm.
“Wesley will never be you.”
“Are you speaking for Buffy or…or for you.”
“For me.” You wanted to argue aggressively, assure him that whatever he was thinking was wrong. You felt the opposite, you would never love someone like you loved him. That Wesley, no matter the difference in your ages, it would always be Giles. That the age truly wasn’t even that big of a deal. You were consenting adults with fully formed frontal lobes.
Instead you leaned down to him and put your chin on his shoulder.
“I love you,” you whispered. He did a double take with his eyes, not moving his head so as to not disturb you. You hadn’t said that yet. “You don’t have to say anything-”
“I love you too.”
You smiled brightly. You kissed his shoulder and then sat up all the way.
“Can you read to me?” He glanced up at you, wondering how you had moved on so quickly.
“Hm?”
“I just like to listen to you talk Rupert,” you murmured. You handed him your book and slid down the stairs so you were sitting beside each other. He cleared his throat curiously. “One second. I’m gonna go grab one of your sweaters from the office, I like to get cozy. You got any blankets in there Rupert?” You got up and walked away. He smiled to himself.
“Under the desk.”
“Ah ha!” you peeked around the corner. You emerged wearing one of his gray knitted sweaters. “I love that you have blankets in your office. Hm. I love you I think.”
“Oh?” You shrugged.
“Yes sir.”
You sat beside him again and put a blanket over his lap.
“Go on. Heathcliff won’t read himself.”
When Wesley returned he glanced through the door window before walking in. Your head rested on Giles’s, eyes closed in content. You looked rather cozy on that step. Giles kept reading, even as you presumably slept.
Wesley turned back to bother Buffy some more.

Hi me again! 👋🏻
I was wondering if you had time maybe to write a small fic (or one shot whatever you’re comfortable with) where the reader is Buffy’s cousin ( also library assistant or whatever you would like ) and the reader and Giles are in a secret relationship ( maybe smut?? ) and they’re navigating that and Buffy finds out and it’s this whole thing. If you’re busy I totally understand or if you just don’t want to, again it’s okay. I really do enjoy your work 🥰.
Not Unavailable, More Unimpressed
pairing(s): Giles x Summers!Reader
summary: what started out as a short term fling has gotten increasingly complicated when the reciprocity and sincerity of feelings is called into questions. pt.1 of ???
warnings: smut, fem!reader, drinking, hand job, a bit of breast worship, clothed grinding, riding, slight choking, age gap (Giles is in his mid to late 40's, reader is in her late 20s/ early 30s), reader has nipple piercings bc I said so and I think they are hot
an: This fic will contain smut so be warned. You are responsible for your own media consumption, read at your own risk.
The man at the bar was a mystery to you. He didn't quite fit into the bar atmosphere. He wasn't one of the barely legals or illegals who snuck in eager to drink, he wasn't one of the old guys who came to hit on the bottle girls, he didn't smell like a smoker or shoot whiskey like a drinker. He was also British, something that left an odd taste in your mouth.
You couldn't call yourself a regular here, more often than not you found yourself at the Bronze, purely per Buffy's request, which had okay enough booze and slightly better music. Here, some place clearly meant for an older crowd called Jack's, is where the older man sat. Alone, he sat at the far corner, sometimes looking longingly at the stage like he was a performer. He didn't look like a performer though.
He was older than you. He was greyed out and looked like he came from when TVs were still in sepia tones. He looked like Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird, like he was always a moment away from scolding someone. It didn't help that he always looked tired, like a lot of his age came from stress. If that was the case, it still didn't make sense as to why he chose a bar to be his spot to wind down.
It was loud. Not in the way that the Bronze was, a type of loud filled with life. A loud spurred by rowdy souls, people who couldn't let loose at home, so they came to one of the only shitty bars in the small town to drink a shitty beer and watch their favorite sports team lose. Not to mention the countless barely legals who got into fights with the bartenders after they failed to get their underage friends a drink. Jack's wasn't a place to have fun, it was the place to avoid doing something reckless during your midlife crisis. You were only there because of convenience, and after being there for a half hour were already beginning to get a migraine.
Job hunting was rough. When you moved to Sunnydale on behalf of your aunt, she offered to let you stay under her roof, but being a grown woman who got up to grown woman shenanigans, it would be more than distasteful to do it in Joyce's home. You were lucky enough that the housing market was great in the area, with all the supernatural happenings so one chose to move to Sunnydale, but that still didn't mean that a decent looking apartment wouldn't cost you a nice sum of money every month.
I could just work here, was your first thought. You were once a young college student also desperate for money, you had bartended, you could always go back if you lacked self-respect. You had a degree dammit, sure you didn't have a doctorate, but you shouldn't need one to get a nice quiet desk job. Neither option was all that fulfilling, but something told you that bartending in a town when demons just roamed the streets didn't seem like a great idea.
The mystery man looked like he had a nice job. Maybe a nice car. Possibly a nice house. He looked financially stable, and fuck was that hot. What did he do? What was there to do in Sunnydale? You could ask.
You looked at his hands to see if there was a ring or any indication that there was someone waiting for him wherever he came from. Maybe a picture of a kid, maybe a photo of a significant other. Nothing. Nothing.
You slinked over to the seat beside him, not meaning to make your presence immediately known yet he still looked up as he felt the heat of someone else beside him. His glasses perched low on his nose and his grey hair tussled. His eyes were green. He was pretty.
"Hello?" He looked at you confused. He took a moment to drink you in. Younger, gorgeous, clearly bold.
"Hello."
"Are you waiting for someone?" You shook your head.
"No. Are you?" and he'd be lying if he said he was.
☽✯☾
"You know, I don't do this often." He said between the rare breaths that were allowed in between suffocating kisses. Whatever he took up in his free time must've involved a great workout regimen. His hand sat comfortably at your neck, and you basked in the warmth that it provided in his cold apartment. His other held your cheek, his thumb mindless rubbing against it in a way that was hypnotizing. It almost had a numbing affect, your skin not being able to get past the feeling making your brain pause as he kissed your lips.
He tasted like fine wine. He smelled like old books. You half expected him to quote a classic at you, you didn't know him well enough to gauge if he was the type. His tongue contradicted his previous statement. These weren't the kisses of a man out of practice, that or he did it so much in his youth it was impossible to forget. Something like riding a bike.
"For a man who doesn't do this often, you're mighty good at it." He smirked; you could feel it against your lips. You wished you could see it, but he had the lights in his bedroom turned low and you weren't sure you wanted to open your eyes in the fear that you were dreaming. It was warm, he was so warm. So warm it was noticeable when his lips left yours and moved to your neck, hovering under your ears. His breath fanning against your neck was enough to send shivers down your spine.
"You haven't even seen how good I am, darling." The pet name alone made you weak in the knees, but you would be damned if you swooned at someone called you darling. Granted, you couldn't help how your mouth went dry or how your pussy clenched at nothing, but he didn't need to know that. He was going to find out, but he can find out later when your lust ridden brain stopped listening to reason and pride.
"Show me, then."
He dipped his head to kiss you, grabbing a fistful of your hair to tip your head back and you let him, grabbing on to his broad shoulders to stabilize yourself. You were pressed between the wall and him, pressing him even closer as you fisted his shirt to pull him closer, but he was hesitant to oblige. He was teasing, you could tell by the way he smiled into your kisses, pulling away like he needed air while you chased after his lips.
"You having issues breathing, old man?" The hand at your neck squeezed, not enough to choke you but enough to make your head even dizzier. His other hand travelled to any piece of skin he could get his hands on. Feather light, his fingers ran across your arms, then your collarbones, before knocking the straps of your dress off your shoulder. His kisses moved slow, his tongue damn near like languid waves that you were somehow managing to drown in.
Still, you chased after him, and still, he ran. His lips ran to the corner of your mouth, to the skin of your neck his hand didn't engulf, to where your strap lay useless. His kisses scorched your otherwise cold skin, his mouth sucking hickeys and then immediately soothing them.
He was so soft. Soft in how his hands found the back of your dress, soft in how his eyes looked into yours, asking permission without even saying a word, soft like the way the fabric slipped of your body and onto the floor. Soft like the bed he laid you on. Even soft in the way he continued to tease you, his knee meeting the crotch of your panties and him meticulously unsnapping your bra as if you couldn't tell he knew how to do it.
He then paused for a minute, finally coming across something he hadn't experienced before. His fingers took the ball of cool metal between his fingers, and you moaned at how it pulled ever so slightly at your nipple.
"What are these?" You chuckled.
"I got 'em pierced ages ago. Drunk night out with a few friends my senior year." He continued to play with the metal ball, well aware of how you keened and ground yourself into his knee.
"So, I can play with them." Fuck. It was how he said it. Like a nerd you might've messed around with in school because he was a good tutor but also because he had that nerdy charm to him. Like playing with your body was a game of Operations he had been so eager to play and was determined to get good at. It was easy to imagine Giles like that, fogged up glasses, eyes concentrated and focused on figuring out what buttons to press to get a prize. There was the curiosity in his lust-blown eyes, and in your lust addled brain you were fine with being his toy.
"Please do." He didn't need to be told twice. Avid learner he was, he went in, his large hands easily covering your breasts. His fingers pulled at the bars, drawing whimpers out of you the more he prodded. It wasn't too rough, Giles was too soft to ever be truly rough, but the feeling of his gaze, your clothed pussy rubbing against his soft slacks, and his large hands over your chest was getting a bit much. And he hadn't even put his mouth on you yet.
It didn't take long for him to realize the feeling of your pierced tits in his mouth was one of the best things he's felt, and it felt even better for you. A wet patch had long since been growing and he certainly felt it too, it egged him on. He wasn't even in you, he hadn't even tasted you, and you were almost there. You were so close.
You grabbed at anything you could, his shirt, his sheets, his hands that held yours as you rocked yourself onto his knee until you saw stars. Then he grabbed your face and swallowed your moans as he kissed and kissed you until you came down. A moment of clarity hit you, and you pulled on his shirt. "Off." you told him simply, and he obliged. You smashed your lips into his, peeling off button after button until the shirt was thrown to the side and his undershirt beneath was discarded with even less care.
"Issues with patience, darling?" You shook your head.
"Not fair I'm practically naked and you were fully clothed." His retort was cut off by your lips as you sat up to meet him, his hands absent-mindedly finding your breasts and yours finding his belt and making quick work of it before he even realized what was happening. You kissed him through it, anyway, still chasing after him as he pulled away to curse at the feeling of your hand around his dick.
"Gods." he muttered, words tumbling out clumsily as you rubbed the tip of his cock. He never had the control to pull away fast enough for an adequate breather, just a second to get a breath out and pray. You were flattered. His hand seemed like it wanted to swat you away, but it didn't have the strength to betray his brain like that. It felt good. Too good. So good he couldn't even think, and Giles never stopping thinking and now he was drawing blanks. He was sure you had mocked him once or twice, which went through one ear and out the other.
He caught himself thrusting into your hand before he caught himself, grabbing your wrist. "Hang on." He choked out, but you didn't listen. Your hand moved up and down his shaft terribly slow, and it was almost worse. Watching you spit on your hand and collect pre-cum from his tip and spread it like some sick simulation of what it would be like to be in you, and yet he couldn't help but watch his hand completely cover yours as you pumped him. Don't cum yet.
"I said hang on." His breath was ragged and his voice was deep. This time he meant it. "There are condoms in the top left drawer. Take one out for me, love." And you did as such. Did it with so much assurance that you slid it on without him even needing to ask you. Slid your panties off and sank down so fast neither one of you was ready.
You both sat there a moment, feeling your nerve endings tingle and burn, like you were both on fire. But you were on fire together. Like you could feel every atom in your body, like it had all been reduced to nothing but water, you were both feeling everything and anything yet absolutely nothing at the same time. So much feeling any nuance got lost in the moment. Just being there, breaths away, with a complete stranger you were sleeping with because he was pretty and looked financially stable.
You kissed him, a real kiss. Spontaneous. One with a feeling neither one of you could decipher and both assumed meant nothing. You rode it out until you had both exhausted each other, you falling on top of him and him catching you.
"Would you like to use my shower before you go? Did you need a ride home?" You cheesed to yourself. And they say chivalry is dead.
"Yeah, that would be nice." You had already rolled out of his bed in search of your dress and waiting for feeling to return to your legs. "I never got your name."
"Giles. Rupert Giles." You giggled as you shook of your dress after picking it up from the floor. Sounds about right.
"And what do you do for a living, Mr. Giles."
"Do these things typically end in interviews?" He made no effort to get out of his bed, he even had the decency to turn away while you get dressed as if he wasn't just balls deep in you.
"No, but I am new to town and would like to not be broke."
"I'm a librarian." Of course, you are. "Have you any interest in literature?" You did. You were a nerd. You had tried convincing yourself you weren't for years, but you majored in philosophy and minored in classic literature; and no one likes philosophy majors.
"I dabble a bit. Got a degree from all the reading I did if that counts." He looked at you like he knew you were trying to make yourself sound cooler. Nerd calls to nerd.
"Well, plenty of places are always hiring. The turnover rate is quite atrocious here." And even new to town, you believed it.
"I just might."
☽✯☾
You did end applying, you even ended up getting the job. Apparently, your little cousin's high school was in desperate need of a library assistant. You also had the pleasure of freezing when you saw Giles again and watching your little cousin greet her favorite teacher.
It was almost worth it for the look on his face, though.

Giles x reader - happily married
Tumblr media
Would you be up for a Giles married to reader who happens to be buffys aunt? - @sitkafay 💜
It had been a while since you had been in town, you had been away on work and all you wanted to do was go home, find your husband and go to sleep.
So, when you walked through the door of the house you set your bags down and looked around.
“Rupert?” You called.
You waited for an answer but there was none, so you grabbed your bags and took them upstairs, not even bothering to unpack them, all you did was go back down the stairs to put your jacket on the hook and made your way back upstairs.
You collapsed on the bed and let the jet lag take you to a much needed world of sleep, though it didn’t last as long as you hoped.
The door was thrown open, and you could hear the voices of people down the stairs.
“Giles?!” They called.
You furrowed your brows and grumbled a little, pulling the blanket of your head.
“Giles we need help!”
You pulled the blanket down, jumped out of bed at the sound of the voice.
Making your way to the stairs you walked halfway down them and looked at the small group of young adults standing in the living room.
“Well, look who we have here.” You grinned.
They all turned around and you grinned a little, making your way down the stairs.
“(Y/N)!”
Buffy wasted no time in running over crush you into a hug which you were more than happy to respond to.
You hugged her tightly, a smile on your face and you pulled away.
“My god Buffy, it’s been years since I saw you last, you’ve grown so much.”
She smiled.
“And you’ve gotten older.”
You playfully glared at you, and she grabbed your hand to lead you over to her friends and you smiled warmly at them all.
“Guys, this is my aunt (Y/N). You remember the one who was always travelling for work?”
Buffy then turned to you.
“(Y/N) this is Xander, Tara, Anya, Willow and that’s spike. We don’t like spike.”
You looked at the man who was eyeing you up down with a little grin on his face.
He went to step forward and was pushed back by Xander and he went to glare.
“Can’t a guy say hello now? Bloody unreasonable.” He grumbled.
“Not when it’s Buffy’s aunt you can’t, in fact you can’t ever, why are you ever here?”
They began to bicker.
“Children! Children!”
They all turned to you and you gestured for them all to sit down so they did.
Spike huffed and left the house.
“Why are you at Giles’ place?” Willow asked.
Buffy turned to you.
She gave you a sheepish look and you laughed a little, shaking your head at her.
“Please don’t..” she grumbled.
“Oh I’m so going to now.”
You turned to her friends and she jumped on you, covering mouth with her hand so you couldn’t say anything.
“Come on tell us!” Xander grinned.
“No! There’s nothing to tell!” Buffy yelled.
“Maybe she came looking for you?” Tara offered.
“Oh she definitely came looking for somebody else.” Anya smirked.
You carried on pretending to fight with your niece, until she finally gave in and let you go, giving you a pleading look.
You grinned a little and leant back in the chair, looking at her friends.
“So, what brings you guys by?”
“Do you know about demons?” Anya asked.
“Anya!” Willow hissed.
You laughed slightly.
“I know a bit, not much. I don’t think I’ll be much help to you.”
“Do you know where Giles is?” Tara asked.
You shook your head.
“I’ve been here a few hours maybe, I was asleep until you heard of elephants came bounding in.”
They grinned a little at you, and you looked at Buffy.
“Can we hang around until he gets back?”
“Yeah, of course. Just don’t break anything, now, I’m going back to sleep, you guys behave.”
You got up, hugging your niece you went to leave but she stopped you, and you looked at her, sighing softly.
Sitting back down on the chair, you let her squeeze herself next to you and you kicked your feet on the table.
“Go on then, tell me about all your adventures. If I fall asleep don’t take it personally I’m tired.”
So, that’s what they did.
They all excitedly told you everything that had been going on, especially Buffy who wanted you to know everything about everything she knew.
You knew about her being the slayer, and you were supportive of her just like her watcher was, you helped her when you could.
She loved telling you about her life, because you always just listened, no snide remarks or comments, no judging her choices or things she did, you just listened.
They got talking to themselves, and you had fallen asleep in the chair.
Buffy noticed this and shook your shoulder.
“Go to bed.”
You nodded, trudging back to bed and they carried on their discussion.
The door was opened and closed, and when Giles turned around he saw all eyes were on him.
“I’m going to change my locks, what on earth are you all doing here at this time?” He asked.
He looked at his watch to see it was early hours of the morning.
“Demons.” Anya said.
“Help.” Xander said next.
“Please?” Willow and Tara grinned.
He sighed, taking his jacket off he set it on the side and gestured for them to carry on while he went to the kitchen to make drinks.
He brought the tray out, setting it on the table.
“Well, it definitely sounds like demons, I’ll have to have a look through some books, but I’m pretty sure I know who these demons are, they’re rather easy to handle.”
They nodded and Buffy looked at him with a blank face.
“There’s something upstairs by the way, you might want to check that out.”
He furrowed his brows and handed the book to Willow, making his way up the stairs.
Turning the light on, he looked around and his gaze landed on the bed.
A wide smiled spread on his face, and he took his glasses off, setting them in his pocket as he made his way over, sitting on the bed he placed a hand on your shoulder.
“No…” you mumbled.
Giles leant down, gently pressing his lips to your forehead.
“Welcome home…”
You opened your eyes and you beamed a little at him, placing a hand on the back of his head so you could kiss him.
It was a kiss he happily responded too, placing his hand on the side of your face as he felt the feeling of your lips on his for the first time in months.
He pulled away and you sat up, shuffling over so you could tuck yourself against him in a hug.
He smiled, kissing your head a few times.
“You never said you were coming home..” he whispered.
“Wanted it to be a surprise, but the gang of heathens needed you help… and they woke me up…”
He chuckled a little at your disappointed tone.
“Well, I shall send them on their way, then you can go back to sleep darling.”
You shook your head, titling your head back to kiss his jaw.
“No.. it’s fine, help them.”
“Are you sure? I can ask them to come back, I don’t believe they would have an issue with that.”
You hummed a little as you stood up, stretching as you walked off.
Giles got up to follow you, and you stood near the wardrobe, looking for something more comfortable to wear.
With a little grin, he reached out, taking both your hands in his and turned you around, your back against the wall.
He let go of your hands, settling for cradling your face instead and you balled your hands into the fabric of his sweater as he leant down to kiss you again.
You didn’t want it to end, but when someone shouted his name he sighed and pulled away, giving you an apologetic look.
“I do love you, but if I don’t go down they’re going to come up.”
You laughed, patting his chest.
“Get, I’ll be down in a minute.”
He quickly kissed you before walking away and you found some more comfortable clothes to change into before following him.
You wondered into the kitchen to find something to eat, Buffy standing next to you to help raid the cupboards.
“Since your back now does this mean we can go shopping?” She asked.
“As in you want to spend your money or you want to spend my husbands money?”
She grinned.
“Your husbands.”
You hummed, glancing into the living before turning back to her.
“How long until they find out?” She asked.
She was trying to keep it a secret because she knew he friends would never let her live down the fact that her watcher, and old librarian was in fact her uncle.
“I’m gonna go with not long.”
She furrowed her brows and you pointed to Anya.
“She’s seen his wedding ring.”
“I don’t know how they haven’t noticed it before.” Buffy said.
Anya whispered something to Tara, who whispered to Willow who passed it on to Xander.
You walked into the living room, sitting back in your chair as you flicked through some books, silence taking over for a while.
But of course it never lasted.
“Giles!”
In an instant both yours and your husbands head shot up to face the boy who had just shouted in shock.
“What?” You both asked.
“Oh my god they are married!” Willow squealed.
Buffy hid her face and you laughed while Giles turned away in embarrassment.
“Buffy’s watcher is her uncle!” Xander laughed.
You reached up, placing your hand on your husbands, and he looked at you with a smile.
“How does it feel knowing you’re never going to escape him Buffy? You’re stuck with him now.” Anya said.
“Okay I’m going home!”
She ran towards the door while he friends ran after her.
“Congratulations Giles!” They yelled.
The house became empty and Giles sighed, sitting on the arm of the chair and you rested your head against his side.
“I’m never living this down, am I? They’re going to taunt me about this for the rest of my life.”
“Ouch, am I really that bad?” You teased.
He smiled, standing up and offered you his hand which you took so you could stand up.
“Nothing could ever compare to how perfect you are dear.”
“You’re such a suck up Rupert.”
He grinned a little.
“Isn’t that why you fell in love with me? That and I am ruggedly handsome if I say so myself, with a rather charming British accent.”
“I’m sorry, would you like to marry yourself?”
He rolled his eyes and wrapped his arms around you waist, and you wrapped yourself around his shoulders.
“I love you.” He whispered.
You leant up, brushing your lips against his.
“I love you too.”

Five String Serenade
Pairing: Giles x shy!reader
Request: Not requested. I started writing this when I had covid last year and just found it again! This is another one where reader is inserted into the plot of an episode, this one’s where the wild things are, where we find Giles singing at the espresso pump.
You are shy and go to their music/poetry evenings to try and salvage some kind of social life, only to be mesmerised by the man that comes and plays every month or so. You tell yourself that tonight is the night that you speak to him after his set but you didn’t bank on getting in the middle of a life or death situation.
Tumblr media
You were sat there, patiently waiting for the music to begin. You had arrived early. Early enough that you had already ordered a second beverage from the counter as you waited. You were on your own, but you had managed to fend off any lingering embarrassment at that fact easily by now. You spent a lot of time in your own company and decided that you wanted to try and experience new things even if it meant stepping out of your comfort zone.
The Espresso Pump was busier than usual but your usual seat in the back corner of the room was miraculously still waiting for you when you returned. You slid into the empty seat and smiled softly to yourself. You had made yourself a promise and you were going to make good on it tonight.
You had become a regular at this coffee house, mostly for these open mic nights that they put on, where people would mostly sing or recite their own words with such feeling. You were barely confident enough to take a seat in the audience, let alone get up there yourself but you adored watching and soaking in the atmosphere of these evenings.
The first woman came onto the small stage and you smiled politely and swayed softly but she wasn’t who you had come here to see. Once upon a time, you had just come for the experience but now you found yourself increasingly coming just to catch a glimpse of him. He was so talented but from hearing him speak and the way he appeared so kind and considerate to those around him, you had quickly developed a little crush.
Anticipation swelled inside you as the woman left the stage, you clapped distractedly as you waited to see who was next. Your eyes lit up when you saw that it was him.
He set up on the stage, smiling out at the audience. Rather than introducing himself he immediately started playing. You were hooked, hypnotised from the very first note. As you always were. You swore that he was singing to you, it looked like his eyes were meeting yours but you were well aware you were probably fantasising and he was looking at some point on the wall behind him.
It didn’t matter anyway. All you saw was him and the the strings of his guitar that he expertly played with those skilled fingers. He was so attractive, made even more so as the emotion of his voice touched you deeply.
Those sweet notes caressing your ear as if he they were made for you. Serenading you and only you.
When he finished his set, happily oblivious as his eyes had widened at the arrival of people he recognised meaning that he had to drag his eyes away from you. As your heart still fluttering to the tune of his song, there he was. Alone and packing up his guitar. This was your chance.
You had spoken to him once, you had both picked up each other’s orders at the counter and had to swap them back. He had opened his mouth as if to say something more before he left but shook his head and hurried away before he had chance. He had wanted to ask if you would give him your number or meet perhaps one evening but he realised he shouldn’t have even stopped to order his drink. There was something of a time-sensitive emergency that he couldn’t possibly explain to you so rather than dragging you into his often dangerous and plain annoying world, he left you watching him leave.
You wished you had said something. Anything would have done. But you had clammed up, your gaze fixed on the floor rather than lingering on him in the way you wished you had. You wished you had traced every feature, memorised every inch and committed it to your mind forever.
That was okay though, because today could be that day. Today you would at least tell him how much you loved his music. If nothing else. You walked up slowly, not realising that the small group of young people that had arrived during the performance were there for him. To be honest, you wouldn’t have been surprised to discover that the entire crowd was only there to watch him. It was why you found yourself never missing the first weekend of the month anyway.
“Uh, hi…” You cleared your throat, he didn’t seem to hear you as he packed his guitar away, “Hello?”
“Yes, yes, can I help you?” He turned and saw that it was you and wished to God his words hadn’t sounded so dismissive. You took a subconscious step back from him and your eyes immediately dropped to the floor. You had always been this way, reserved and struggling to express yourself. You shut off when you thought that someone might laugh or reject you in some way.
The truth was, he liked you. Hadn’t stopped thinking about you since that time with the mixed up coffee cups. There just had never been the right moment, much like right now there was always some demon in the way.
His smile warmed you when you glanced briefly back at his face, he appeared more friendly now that he realised who was speaking to him. He was still somewhat distracted, he kept glancing behind you at the kids that were gesturing wildly and acting out a very amateur interpretation of what they had just been facing in the haunted house.
You were so nervous, you didn’t want to be this nervous about this. You wished you were confident and suave and could convince him to drop any plans he may have had for the rest of the evening and spend his time with you alone. But you were determined at least. You weren’t going to walk away without saying anything, not this time. A promise was a promise and even though it was only with yourself, you decided that it needed to be honoured. Or you would forever be torturing yourself with what ifs.
Your palms were sweaty, you quickly tried to dry them on the material of your clothing as you took a deep, deep breath. Your knees became weak and time began to slow but your heart rate quickened. He smelled so good and you looked down before resolving yourself and raising your eyeline to the back of his head where he was leaning over to pack up his stuff.
“I wanted to know if…” You had a tendency to mumble your words but today they had just evaded you all together. Trailed off into nothing. You couldn’t hide your disappointment in yourself and his distracted nature as he continued to hurriedly pack away his guitar.
“I hope my haste hasn’t made you believe that I’m not interested in speaking with you. It’s in fact quite the opposite these young people are in some sort of peril that I now have to attempt to fix most likely before sunrise” he muttered, gesturing to the group that still appeared somewhat shellshocked at even the idea that the man would spend his evening singing in this way.
“Are, uh, they family?” You looked at them, wondering if you had completely made a fool of yourself and these potential children of his would momentarily part and allow his spouse to walk towards to and embarrass you in front of the small crowd.
“I suppose in a way. Not by blood but they do rely on me to a certain extent”
“That’s really sweet…” You said softly, feeling a heat rising in your cheeks as you said it. If he had caught it, he was a gentleman and didn’t comment.
“Uh, if there’s anything that you need help with…” You let your offer hang in the air and he looked up from what he was doing to smile at you faintly. He had a good feeling about you, but alas he couldn’t leave the group waiting any longer. They appeared concerned.
“These aren’t the usual teenage tribulations, I’m afraid. They are more… demonic in nature. Is this something you have any experience in?” He asked you this hopefully and it made you wish more than anything in the world that you were some rogue demon hunter but the truth was, you were so shy that you avoided a lot of the human population never mind the demon population who were much harder to stumble across, say, doing your grocery shopping.
“Well, no b-but my, uh, cousin knew a demon once…” you realised just how stupid you sounded only after the sentence left your mouth. You did, of course, know demons and vampires existed. You weren’t unaware, you were just shy and hadn’t actually ever faced one before.
“Giles! We gotta encounter of the dead kind over here” the group finally interrupted.
“We need to make with the books and the, uh, more books…”
“I apologise, I really must go”
“It was nice to-” You started but, you had blinked and he had already disappeared with the group of teenagers. You sighed, cursing yourself as you started to leave the coffee shop.
You decided to walk the long way home. You enjoyed walking at night. It was a wonder really, living in Sunnydale and being partial to a late night walk that you had never once crossed paths with a vampire. Perhaps you were just lucky.
You kicked a rock sullenly as you wished you had offered to help or just gave him your number or actually done something to show your interest. It just never seemed to be the right time.
Before you knew it you had been walking in circles, wrapped up in your own regret. Your eyes hadn’t moved from the pavement and that was how you had managed to turn the corner and bump straight into him again. And his group of younger friends.
“It’s, Y/n, isn’t it? We appear to keep meeting at the wrong times” He joked, referencing the coffee incident and now, the life or death situation. Easily comparable, of course.
He knew your name. Perhaps it was a potential concussion from knocking into him but you were in a daze at the fact that he had spoken your name. Your name on such heavenly lips. You smiled softly as he introduced himself, though hurriedly, as Giles had a Slayer to save.
You had caught them coming back from meeting Genevieve Holt. Who had ran the frat house when it had been a children’s home. Now, it was just haunted by poltergeists and drunken regrets. Seemingly, because she had punished them for sexual thoughts, the lust brought in by the Slayer and her boyfriend had ignited something and the repressed energy in the house was now releasing.
“Do you know how to help two people compelled to have lots of sex?” One of the very blunt teenagers asked. You later found out she was over a thousand years old.
“Maybe give them a condom, I don’t know” You shrugged, looking a little embarrassed when you realised you had said that out loud. But by the amused looks on their faces you needn’t have been embarrassed.
“They are feeding the energy of once repressed spectres which now haunt the house. The, ah, sex acts as a sort of battery that will inevitably run out. Thus, ending the lives of the two at the centre” Giles explained. Which left the group silent again for a moment as they thought of the potential that their friends may die.
“Oh then maybe a spell or some kind of exorcism…” you said, your face thankfully not betraying how absurd you felt in this sudden situation.
Your usual shy nature had been pushed down, you wanted to help. So you tried your very best to muster up all of the confidence that you possessed.
The discussion became urgent as you followed the others to Giles’ home. You didn’t catch the glint in his eye as he saw that you were joining them. You couldn’t very well just tell them to have a good evening and that you hoped that their friends didn’t die in some sex related haunting now could you? Giles muttered something about a book that he needed to help you all summon the poltergeists and try and make it so that this Buffy and Riley they spoke about had a chance at survival.
“You want the Salem Codex, it has a better translation” You said suddenly and Giles nodded, reaching for the exact book you had just mentioned.
“Check out walking encyclopaedia here”
“I thought you said that you had no experience with demons?”
“I don’t, I’m just well-read” You shrugged again, but Giles’ eyes hadn’t left your form. He was in awe of you. You had a lot of downtime and you liked reading, what can you say? You had been gifted a lot of books on magic by your cousin’s ex. The demon you had never actually met. Doyle or something.
He was growing to enjoy your company, even the brief moments you had spent with him here. Your love of knowledge, the way that you were so calm even under the pressure of trying to save someone’s life. Even though you had always appeared shy before. And you had thrown yourself into helping without even considering backing away. You were a good person.
But he had to quickly snap himself out of it so that he could find the correct spell. While he did so and Tara and Willow joined you to summon the ghosts that haunted Lowell house, Xander and Anya went to go and try and save their friends.
You had always been a little nervous about trying spells. Of course you thought it was cool and you didn’t doubt the existence of it. You were just a little cautious.
You joined them, reciting the words and standing close to Giles. You tried very hard not to be distracted by the proximity, this was very important after all. You settled by just stealing a few side glances as he set up the table you were all stood around.
Tara and Willow looked at each other as they sensed the power that you had added to the circle. Nobody mentioned anything, you all kept on task. You gasped when the ghosts appeared, it was unlike anything you had ever seen. You felt it, their lives, their pain.
The witches tried to speak to the ghosts, to reason with them. However, before the exorcism could be finished the table in the centre of the room was thrown across the room and the children had disappeared just as quickly as they had arrived. You just hoped that it would be enough.
After some pacing and waiting to find out if you had given Xander and Anya enough time to reach their friends. You eventually received a call to say that Buffy and Riley were safe but wholly ungrateful for everything you had all done to help them.
Giles smiled at you, he had been observing you closely as you waited. You were incredibly attractive and clearly more powerful than even you realised. As you left the two women and Giles invited tyou to his house, with the red haired one giving him a meaningful look, you started to realise what had just happened.
You had done magic! You had actually helped save someone’s life! It was exhilarating and scary and so many things all rolled into one. Especially as by this portion of the night you would usually have been long since curled up with a book.
“That was probably one of the strangest nights of my life” You admitted once you were sat in his living room with a warm drink in hand. His fingers had lingered on the cup as he passed it to you, grazing yours. It was like electricity sparking between you.
“It was one of the milder perils in this town” He commented, shaking his head and smiling in that way that brightened up his entire face. You were trying your very best not to just stare at him and make him uncomfortable. But it was so hard, he was so fucking good looking.
There was a short silence, where Giles was debating whether to ask if you would like to see him again. You were everything he had ever wanted. And more. He envisioned spending a lot of time with you in his future. However, you had been filling up with all the unsaid things that you had wanted to tell him. And they all finally exploded from your mouth as you beat him to it.
“I- I really like you and I was thinking that perhaps we could go and get a drink together, not that this drink isn’t nice it’s fine – great! It’s really great it’s actually my favourite but I was thinking that perhaps we could actually go out and maybe not a date if you aren’t into that sort of thing but I would just really, really like to get to know you and it would be so good to-”
You hadn’t stopped for a breath but you had been quickly cut off by the man you were attempting to invite on a date as he pressed his lips to yours. He had smiled at your words, you could feel it in his kiss. You reached for him, deepening the kiss and trying to figure out if you were dreaming or not. His cologne enveloped you as you ran a hand through his hair, lips moving against his in such deep and unwavering display of affection. It was as if you were made for each other. It just felt so right.
You tried not to think about the whining noise you made when he slowly pulled back from the kiss, allowing you to take a much needed breath. He leaned against you, humour still in his eyes at your outburst. His eyes closed slowly, as if he were saving this image to memory before he moved to your ear.
“I hope you don’t think me too forward, I have wanted to kiss you since the moment my eyes met yours in the crowd six months ago” He whispered in your ear, then pressed a kiss against your cheek.
You were speechless, unable to explain anything or remember even what your name was, you just reached for him again. Showing him how much you appreciated his ‘forwardness’ by initiating another kiss.

Giles knew immediately he liked you. There was something about you, something, endearing.
You walked in one evening after seeing the assistant required poster on the town noticeboard and when Giles had asked what qualifications you had you responded simply and almost nervously, 'I love books'.
He'd held out his hand and chuckled 'your hired'.
You'd become fast friends with the British librarian ever since. Helping him get books for his students… and the buffy gang, you soon became familiar with the layout of the library.
You spent your evenings curled up in the chair, books piled lazily on the floor, and before long you didn't even need to hesitate to remember the shelf when giles or willow asked for a specific book.
You stayed late most nights, Giles would turn off the main lights and make you a cup of tea while you read and he researched. He looked adorable with his glasses hanging out his mouth when he was thinking .He'd hand you the steaming mug, saucer too, because he's Giles, with a smile each time.
It's been a busy week, every night you've stayed late with giles and buffy and co to help deal with some demon or other.
Finally, the demon was dealt with and buffy and everyone left to have some sort of socialising after a night of battling. You just want to curl up with a book, you've felt off all day and nothing has quite snuffed out that feeling. Usually when you felt like this you'd curl up under the thickest blankets you could find in your place and you'd fiddle with the chain on your neck.
It was a simple piece of jewellery, the small circle hanging in the middle of the chain contained your favourite quote from one of your favourite books in tiny writing. It brought you comfort whenever your hands reached for it. The words brought you comfort.
You'd always found more comfort and affection in books than in people. In the past, life or rather, some people in it, had not been kind to you.
And when that happened, you found your escape in books.
"Tea?" Giles asks, sighing, sending a small smile your way.
"Mm no thanks" you shook your head. You shivered slightly.
"Are you alright?" Giles asks, eyebrows raised, you never turn down a cup of tea from him, it worried him slightly, but he pressed on.
"Mm, just tired" you assured him with a small smile.
Giles is unconvinced.
"Right" he says, and he does that little nod that he does when he's not really paying attention when he's researching and someone talks to him, except this time he is paying attention.
"I'll just put these books back and then I'll get off for the night" you say, your not looking at him though, almost past him. standing up and gathering the books with one hand, the other hand wraps around the chain hanging round your neck, twisting it round your fingers.
"Y/n?" Giles asks, and you're far too concentrated on holding onto the pile of books in your hand you don't notice he's right in front of you.
"Giles" you say, finally looking up at him, your sure that his piercing but concerned gaze can see right through you, right through to your heart hammering in your chest.
Giles takes the books out of your hand gently and places them on top of the shelf.
His hand comes back and lingers on your arm.
"What's the matter?" And he asks so softly you think you might break down then.
Your hand goes back to fiddle with the chain around your neck, it's the only thing you know for a fact brings you even an ounce of comfort ,but Giles reaches for your hand instead, pulling it away, he closes his hand, which is much bigger than yours, around it.
It's a gesture your unfamiliar with.
"I- I'm fine" you whisper
Giles frowns, his hand still holding yours.
"It's alright" he whispers, and the hand that's on your arm squeezes
You close your eyes and let out a shaky breath.
"Hey look at me" Giles says softly.
"m sorry, I don't, i cant- " you go dizzy, your breathing becomes faster, your head spins.
"Breathe,y/n" Giles says. His tone is laced with concern as he looks at you, your chest heaves as he moves his hand to your chin.
"Y/n, i got you" he says softly, his hand swipes at a tear running down your cheek.
"No" you whisper, and Giles frowns again but this time its because he can see you're not used to this kind of… affection, of this kind of.. comfort. And Giles feels a sudden pang of sadness at that, and then an overwhelming urge to make sure you never feel so alone again.
"Come here" he whispers, pulling you into his tight embrace.
You wrap your arms around him like your clinging to a life raft.
"There you go, I got you love" he comforts.
Giles holds you until you've stopped shaking.
"What can I do?" He asks after a moment, still not letting you go.
"im cold" you whisper,
"and tired" you added.
"Come on" he says, ushering you over to the couch in his little office.
Giles shrugs off his jacket and places it over you, when he's satisfied your sufficiently tucked in with his jacket, he sits in the corner of the couch, pulling you close to him.
you bring your knees up to your chest as you curl into him.
His fingers move slowly up and down your arm, comforting. Safe.
"Giles?" You whisper, and he stops and moves slightly.
"Hmm?" He says
"Thankyou" you say softly, and you wrap your arm around his waist and drift off in his embrace.

↳ female reader, requests are open! Thank you so much for reading <3
ᴹᵃˢᵗᵉʳˡᶤˢᵗ
Want to be shipped? Here be the instructions 🦋
SFW
・No matter your age, I think you would be the type of person whose mature and responsible.
・Automatically being the mother of the group. It’s in your nature to want to look after those who need it, especially after Buffy’s mother died. You felt like she needed some guidance; a gentle touch.
・So you would cook things for her, take Dawn to school and pick her up.
・Wash their clothes and do the ironing.
・I think Giles would tell you that you didn’t have to do that. And you shouldn’t feel like you have to do anything you didn’t want to do.
・But you wanted to help.
・And maybe words aren’t your strong suit, so doing for others is how you show your love.
・Nearly always having at least one of the scooby gang at your place. Buffy coming to ask for help, Willow rummaging through the book collection, Xander laying on the couch. It may be annoying at times, but without them, it feels so quiet and lonely.
・I think you would love books; whether it’s reading, writing or just how aesthetic they are. You don’t mind that yours and Giles’ place is stacked with them
・I actually think you and Willow would get on so well. Bonding over your shared love for knowledge.
・Giles is a man who loves being cosy; soft sweaters, sitting infront of the fire, with a cup of tea in his hand.
・Laughing at Giles’ outlandish humour
・You’ve probably been in danger more times than you can count, but that doesn’t stop you from heading straight into the fight
・I think you would have your own special talent/strength that the group needs. Whether it be emotional, your intuition/magical ability, knowledge, etc.
・His voice is very very soothing; especially if you’ve had a big day. He’ll gather you up in his arms and rest his head atop yours
・ “Shhhh, darling. It’s alright.”
NSFW 18 +
・Okay so ... Giles is actually very good at sex
・HE IS SO GODDAMN PASSIONATE
・Loves to dominate you; pull your hair, bite your lips.
・Is a tits kinda man; grabbing, twisting your nipples, burying his face in your breats
・Likes it when you whimper and whine; he likes to make you beg as well
・But he can be so so soft
・Basically show you how much he loves you through his body
・Very good at eating pussy. Would rather do that then you giving him head
・Likes to bite your earlobes, place kisses behind your ear, trail them down your neck
・Giles is literally THE BEST at aftercare; makes you a cup of tea, gets you a cloth and cleans you up, tells you how well you did

Imagine sharing a tender night in with Giles.
Tumblr media
“The bath is ready,” Rupert called. It had been sweet of him to do this for you. He’d set up your favorite candles and made the whole thing very romantic and calming. You really were grateful to have him.
When you walked into the bathroom in your robe, the aroma of the bath and the candles hit you, and you let out a small hum of contentment. Rupert had been midway through undressing when you caught sight of a scar on his upper arm. “How did you get that,” you asked. He followed your eyes to the small scar in question.
“I can’t say I actually remember at this point,” he replied with a half chuckle. “You work with a slayer and you tend to forget the small ones.”
You closed the distance between you with a few steps and you placed a delicate kiss to the faded scar. “Forgotten or not, it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be cared for. Now come, join me.” You untied your robe, letting it slide from your shoulders and become a heap on the floor. Rupert finished undressing himself and got into the warm water with you. You both felt your cares melt away just being there with one another.
Happy Valentine’s Day @micheleamidalajedi

“I don’t know, maybe you should both come out to the college and look?”
Buffy’s voice was borderline pleading. You had gotten used to her strength and independence. It was rare that she wanted help so admittedly. You suspected an ulterior motive, but didn’t say anything about it immediately.
“We can be there by dinner if you think you need it,” you said, honestly. Giles was in the shower. You could hear the sound of the water hitting the bathroom tiles. The gentle movement of his body as the pressure shifted. “But I think you’re just getting used to college and you want some normalcy.”
“I’m a big girl. If I felt that way, I would say it!” There was a beat of silence as you waited, toying with the phone chord. She let out a deep breath. “Willow has Oz. It’s weird!”
“It’s your first night. You’re gonna be okay.”
“If Giles had answered this phone call then he would already be in the car,” she complained.
“He’s a pushover.”
“I know! That’s why I like him!” You both laughed gently. You wanted to be there for Buffy, your natural inclination was to go to her. She had been like a daughter to you through her high school years, despite the fact that you were mildly close in age. You just happened to graduate a couple of years before she did. But you knew the feeling of independence needed to come from allowing her to fly. She was a big girl. She could do it.
“Buff.” She let out a soft sigh. “I’m not saying you’re on your own. I’m just saying you need some distance and some growth.”
“I’ve grown,” she pleaded. “I’ve killed a lot of people you know.”
“Vampires.”
“Potato potato.”
“You’re a big girl and it isn’t going to hurt you to stay a night with Willow like a sleepover.”
“God, you’re such a mom.” You snorted. The bathroom door opened. You craned your neck to the hallway from where you were sitting on the couch. Rupert was drying his hair, wearing gray sweatpants and a shirt. You raised an eyebrow. He didn’t notice, walking into the kitchen and fishing for the tea bags.
“Have a good night's sleep Buff. If you still need us tomorrow, call.” “I will. Thank you.” She hung up the phone. You put your back on the receiver.
“What did Buffy need?” Giles asked from the kitchen. His voice was smooth, the accent clear. He had sung some in the shower. It was a testament to how close he was with you.
“She was feeling a little homesick,” you admitted. “She’s gonna be okay.” You turned your body completely, putting your arms up on the couch back. You watched him through the kitchen window, his back turned to you. You could see his arms defined as he started to pour some water into his tea kettle. You put your chin on your hands, admiring him.
“We could’ve gone down to see her,” he said.
“She needs space.” He shrugged and glanced back at you. He did a double take when he noticed the wide eyes you were giving him.
“Are you alright?”
“I’m fine. Admiring the view.” He chuckled nervously. No matter how long you had been together, he remained slightly flustered at your words. “When did you get those sweatpants?”
“I found them in my drawers when I cleaned them the other day.” He was still looking for a job after the library burnt down. He had plenty of time for house maintenance and random spring cleaning duties. “Why? Do you like them?”
He came around the kitchen corner. You lifted your head up a bit and nodded, probably a little too eagerly. You reached your hand over the couch and nimbly grabbed at the chords on his pants.
“They look nice,” you said, looking up at him. He raised an interested eyebrow.
“I’ve just put the kettle on,” he told you, though his voice gave him away. Raspy, intrigued.
“So?” you teased. He let out a shaky breath.
“You’re going to be the death of me,” he muttered, dipping down to kiss you. You strained your neck to kiss him back, putting your hand around the nape of his neck. He completely succumbed to you, easily, without more complaint. It had been so long since Rupert had known a love like yours and he was so consumed by it that it almost hurt. Your mouth opened a bit, to give way for his tongue, which entered quickly. You let out a brief breath, pulling away and diving back in. Because he was still standing (though hunched), you had perfect access to his waist line.
You slid your hands up his shirt, to the hem of his pants. He shuddered at your cold touch. His hair was still wet, dripping onto your face as you kissed. You gripped his pants, holding onto the top and slowly, slowly, moving them down. He groaned against your lips at the slow movements. Before you got too far, you stopped kissing him and sat up. He watched as you hopped over the couch so that you could properly get on your knees for him.
He put his hand on your cheek, your jaw. You looked up at him. He turned on his heels so he was leaning against the couch. Your fingers were still on his pants, not daring to move them any lower.
“Rupert,” you breathed.
“Hmm,” he moaned. “C’mon love,” he whispered. He put his other hand on yours. You tugged a bit, teasingly. He groaned.
You finally pulled all the way down, his boxers and pants falling to his ankles. His dick sprang to life. You almost made a comment about how eager he was despite his age, but repressed it. You wanted him inside of you.
You wrapped your lips around him, starting to bob your head without any more thought. You could hear his moaning and it only prompted you forward. He put his hand on the back of your head, bunched in your hair. You used his legs to sturdy yourself.
“Good lord,” he muttered, head falling back. You went on like that for a couple of minutes, always impressed with his ability to last. When you finally came up for air you were covered in him. You looked up with doe eyes that drove him insane. “Get up here.”
“Yes sir.”
You stood up, ignoring the tingling in your knees. He helped you by placing you on the back of the couch. You held your hands around his cheeks, cupping them as he worked at your pants. Once he started he was always eager to get inside you. The words that slipped from his mouth were unintelligible and loving, rough but careful.
You kicked your pants onto the floor. He put himself against you. He met your gaze. He looked at you with longing, lustful. You smiled loopily, your grip still on his cheeks.
“Rupert, c’mon,” you muttered. He took your go ahead and shoved himself inside you, wet by your need. He put his head against your shoulder as he started to thrust, no thoughts given towards anything except his desire. Rupert had never been a quiet lover and his grunts proved it. You hung your head back, feeling as he moved inside every inch of you, each thrust long and hard. What he lacked in speed he had in stamina.
You let out a yelp as he hit the right spot, your hair falling between the gaps of your back. You brought his face back up and kissed him, hungrily, his lips moving around by scarcely finding the right spot. It would’ve made you smile if you weren’t so tied up.
“God,” he whispered, voice coming out desperately needy. Shaky. “I love you,” he groaned. The tension in your stomach grew as he kept hitting just the right spot. With each thrust you grew closer. “Are you close?” he asked. You nodded, quickly, forgetting to stop.
“Is it okay-”
“Go ahead,” you grumbled. You didn’t want him to stop. You were on the pill. You pushed the danger aside and pulled him closer to you with your leg wrapped around his waist.
His thrusts began to get sloppier but you hardly noticed, your own high coming over you. Your legs shook, gripping his body to keep you steady, in case you fell backwards onto the couch. He let out a long moan, indicating his own release.
You let out a sigh, blissful.
He stayed inside you, coming down. You hummed.
“I’ll wear the pants more often,” he said, chuckling. Your laughter mixed in with his as the tea kettle started to whistle. You looked behind him and he followed your gaze, the laughter continuing. He moved out of you, the emptiness almost unbearable. “I’m going to get us something to wash us up,” he said. You nodded once.
You pushed yourself off the couch and walked over to the kitchen. You took the kettle off the stove.

Random thoughts and ideas for Rupert Giles and Nathan Wallace. Anthony Stewart Head’s characters need more love ok. Pls tag me if any of these inspire you to write something. 💜
1. Imagine you and Giles both getting affected by the magic candy that turns you into teenagers and despite the awkward “morning after” when the magic wears off and you remember everything you did, (smoking, drinking, robbery, and…. If you know, you know 😏) neither of you fully regret it as you finally both have the courage to pursue a relationship.
2. Imagine Giles proposing to you by giving you the ring he always wears on his pinky finger.
3. Imagine showing Giles what’s so thrilling about sneaking around in public spaces by kissing him behind the stacks in the library.
4. Imagine dancing with Giles during the prom and while he’s like “For God’s sake, man, she’s 18. And you have the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone.” And tells Wesley to shoot his shot ffs, he does the same with you and either asks you out and/or kisses you for the first time. (But you’d be much older than 18 chillllllll)
5. Imagine knowing Giles since you were rebellious teenagers, and being in a relationship as adults. You were there when you, Giles, and your “crowd” did the demon possessions for thrills and Randall was killed. Then you both turned your lives around. But imagine still having that other side to you, similar to how Giles would take off his glasses whenever he switched to his Ripper persona.
6. Imagine kicking Ethan Rayne’s ass for all the shit he’s done to Giles. The teenager candy, turning him into a demon, etc. Giles just looks the other way like “I saw nothing so I can say nothing.”
7. Imagine performing with Giles in the bar and the Scooby gang being shocked that you both have musical talent. You like to perform together at home too.
8. Dark! Nathan fic where he’s kidnapped reader and keeps her captive in his house because he’s all kinds of fucked up after Marni’s death. Basement Wife trope but he keeps going back and forth between the Nathan and Repo Man personalities so it’s like you’re dealing with a Jekyll and Hyde type situation while prisoner. (Dude kept his wife’s body preserved behind a wall in his house c’mon you gotta admit he’s unhinged)
9. Dark! Nathan fic where he does to reader what he did to Shilo. He keeps reader sick on purpose and lies to her about what condition she has and acts as her doctor so that she stays with him in his house. Captive wife scenario again.
10. What if you were able to stop Nathan from giving the poisoned medicine to Marni? Or what if you were able to show Nathan the truth about Rotti setting him up and tell him that he wasn’t actually responsible for his wife’s death?

Giles x teen!reader - you’re safe now
Tumblr media
Could you do something where Giles finds out that R is sleeping in school because their father is abusive and he comforts them and kind of adopts them, because he saw some bruises or something like that? Maybe he even confronts R father about the bruises? If you are not comfortable with that that's totally fine! Much love! - Anon💜
TW: mentions of abusive parent
Wondering into the library, you ignored the little meeting that seemed to be going on and jogged up the steps, looking for the right shelf.
You slowly wondered among them and you stopped when you saw the shelf you were looking for and pulled out a text book.
“English…” you mumbled.
You looked at the slip of paper in your hand and you furrowed your brows a little bit and made your way back down the steps to the counter and set the book and paper down.
“Hello (Y/N), how are you?” Giles asked.
“Is this book the same as what on this paper?”
You showed Giles the paper.
“Ah… yes.. yes I would believe so. Is it for your English paper?”
You said nothing and pushed the book towards him, and he sighed slightly.
“If you need anything else you’re more then welcome to stop by.”
Giles watched as you put the book in your bag then without a word he left and went back to what he was doing.
“I don’t know why you try to talk to them, they’re not exactly the most social person out there.” Xander said.
“Well, I.. I believe a good conversation can go a long way.”
“Yeah, if you’re looking to get a snarky remark or ignored. (Y/N) doesn’t play well with people.” Buffy said.
“Well I don’t think they’re that bad, they let me borrow some books not long ago.” Willow smiled.
Giles glanced at the door where you had left and turned back to the group that were currently supposed to be on their way to class.
You spent the whole day in classes only half paying attention before the school day came to a close.
You put your bag in your locker and you left the school, going to find somewhere to pass the time.
A few hours later you returned and went back to your locker, grabbing your bag and the folded blanket at the bottom you made your way to the science labs.
They were the best place to stay since you could use the burners for a fire to warm things up and keep yourself a little warmer.
Sitting on the chair, you took a sip of the water next to you, nibbling on some chips as you read through the text book you got earlier that day.
Tapping your pen against the paper you sighed and stood up, moving so you could start tidying everything away.
Giles was making his way back to the library when he heard the sounds of somebody moving about in the room.
He stopped, furrowing his brows a little and he walked over to the partially cracked open door.
He was a little unsure, but he pushed the door open and looked inside to see you putting the burner away that you were using.
“(Y/N)?”
You jumped, spinning around to face him.
Giles walked in, setting his books on one of the tables and he looked around the room, spotting the corner you had turned into a makeshift bed.
“Wh..what is going on here?” He asked.
You walked over and began grabbing everything.
“I’ll go, just don’t tell Synder…” you grumbled.
“No! No, it’s incredibly dangerous out there with.. with.. thunder and.. and rain and lightening. Come to the library at least.”
You glanced at the man, then to the window where the rain was battering on the glass, threatening to break it.
You sighed, finished grabbing your things and nodded your head.
You didn’t want to go outside in that, and at least you had the ability to ignore him and his questions.
Walking into the library, you sat yourself down at the empty table and set your books on the floor.
“I need you to know that we Uhm.. well.. we’re going to have to talk about this (Y/N).”
You said nothing and he sighed softly.
“I’ll make you some tea, do you want something to eat?”
You gestured to the snacks you set on the table and he nodded, leaving for a moment before coming back.
He poured you a cup of tea and set it in front of you.
You reached out for your cup, and Giles looked at your arm with the deep bruises, both old and relatively new.
He thought for a moment before he spoke.
“Now I.. I know you’re not the biggest fan of the school, I can’t imagine why anybody would want to throw a sleepover in the science lab, did you get caught before the storm?”
You said nothing.
“How long have you been staying here?”
Again, you didn’t reply.
“I can give you parents a call, let them know where you are and that you’re safe.”
You snapped your head towards him.
“No!”
You set the cup down, pulling your blanket around your shoulders.
“If you tell my dad where I am I swear I will run out of those doors and never come back.” You rushed out.
Giles slowly set his own cup down.
“Alright, it’s alright. If you don’t want me to call him I won’t.”
Giles recognised the look on your face and the tone of your voice immediately as fear.
You didn’t want to be found, you didn’t want your dad to know where you were.
“Why don’t you want your father to know where you are (Y/N)?” He asked softly.
“I just don’t…” you mumbled.
You got up and you walked away from him, sitting yourself down on the stairs instead.
Giles got up and followed you, sitting next to you and he clasped his hands together as he looked at you.
“What happened to your arm?”
You pulled your arm tighter towards you.
“It’s nothing…”
Giles shook his head.
“It’s not nothing, (Y/N), if your father is hurting you then tell me, I’ll be able to help you but I can’t if you don’t let me. Please, tell me what happened.”
“Yeah so you can tell the police and they’ll give me back to him…” you mumbled.
“You’ve runaway before?”
You glanced at him before looking away.
“It’s my fault… shouldn’t have made him man…”
Giles turned so he was looking at you.
“Never blame yourself for something like this, this is not your fault (Y/N) you’re the victim here, and you have done no wrong. He is in the wrong for raising his hands to you. If you don’t want to go home that’s okay, I understand, but you can’t keep living the way you are.”
You shrugged.
“What else am I supposed to do?”
“Well.. I.. I can take you in for now, give you a safe space, then we can figure something else out after. Alright? I’ll do my best to make sure you won’t ever be taken back there.”
“Don’t make promises you can’t keep Mr Giles.”
“I can keep it, but I need to know what you want to do, I can’t make you come with me.”
You sighed, running a hand over your hair and you shrugged slightly.
“I.. I don’t know.. I’ll go back eventually… when he’s calmed down again…”
“Absolutely not.” He said sternly.
You looked to the usually calm librarian, and you shuffled away from him slightly.
His face immediately softened.
“I.. I’m sorry… I won’t hurt you I promise, all I want to do is help you, and I refuse to let you go back to a situation like that.”
Giles took his glasses off and pinched the bridge of his nose, running a hand down his face before he took a small breath, putting them back on.
“I assume that he Uhm.. he’s responsible for those bruises on your arm?”
You said nothing and that was all the clarification that he needed.
“I’m not going to let him hurt you again.”
Giles rested his arms on his legs, and he smiled at you.
“I promise nobody will ever hurt you like that again.”
He stood up and made his way to the table and he began to clean up your things, picking them all up.
“Now, we must get going before this storm gets any worse.”
He stopped and looked at you.
“It’s alright.”
You thought for a moment before getting up to follow him.
You decided you would stay with him for a few days to get him off your back, then you would go back to your usual hangouts.
In the car you didn’t say anything, and you followed Giles into his house.
“I’ll get everything sorted for you, if you’re hungry please help yourself to whatever you’d like.”
You nodded and looked around his living room, picking up a few books before putting them back.
Giles came down to find you sitting on the sofa, your blanket still wrapped around you and he walked over.
“Where would you like to sleep?”
You pointed to the couch and he set a pillow there for you, handing you another blanket.
“I’ll just be upstairs, if you need anything at all just shout, alright?”
You nodded again and he left to give you your space.
He could hear the sound of the TV downstairs, and when he went down the following morning you were sleeping in front of it, using your blanket as a pillow.
Chuckling softly, he grabbed the other blanket and walked over, crouching next to you so he could cover you up.
He paused, seeing the bruises on your arm a little better in the daylight.
He could see the bruises, the small slivers of a few scars, and he could see a healing bruise on the side of your head.
He covered you up and walked into the kitchen, covering his eyes with his hand as a shaky breath.
Yes, he had seen what demons could do to humans, but he knew those weren’t caused by a vampire or demon.
And that’s what broke his heart and brought tears to his eyes, they were the results of a monstrous human. A man who was supposed to protect you and instead hurt you.
Taking a deep breath, Giles composed himself and began making breakfast, which is what woke you up.
You stayed sitting on the floor as he brought some cereal out for you and a glass of juice.
You watched as he set it down in front of you before coming back with his own.
“Is something wrong? Do you not like it?” He asked.
You looked at your own food and picked up your bowl.
“I’m not used to someone bringing me food…”
You quickly ate your cereal, you ate it that fast Giles was scared you would choke.
And you did the same with the juice before grabbing your dishes and walking away to the kitchen.
“You don’t have to wash them, I’ll do that.”
You looked at him.
“Don’t I have to earn my keep?”
Giles set his dishes down.
“Of course not, you don’t have to do anything to ear your keep here, all you have to do is go to school and do your best, everything else I can handle.”
You nodded and stepped aside.
You weren’t used to it, and he could see that.
As the days passed you avoided the library when you were at school, but when you were at his that sturdy front you held up was gone.
You were just scared and unsure about everything, if you did something wrong you’d flinch, if you thought he was angry with you then you would avoid him.
But you were getting better.
Giles was working on finding a way for you to permanently stay in his care, so after school while students were getting ready to head home you were waiting for him.
You were walking along one of the walls, hands in your pockets.
“Please do come down, the last thing I want is for you to fall and injure yourself.” Giles said.
He held out his hand and you looked at him.
Chuckling, he raised his hands and backed away, letting out jump down.
Giles smiled, and he held out his keys.
“I’ll be there in a few moments, I’ve left something behind.”
“I’ll wait here.”
Giles nodded and you watched him leave before you went back to looking at people leave.
That’s when you saw a face you didn’t want to see then the crowd heading towards you and you slowly backed away.
“Don’t you dare run again!”
You spun around and ran inside, skidding around corners and pushing past people fully aware of the angry man chasing you.
You ran to the one place you thought off and you burst through the doors, tears in your fearful eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Giles asked.
He set his bag down and you rushed over, hiding yourself behind him, gripping his jacket tightly and the door was thrown open again.
“Cowering behind other people still?” Your dad spat.
“Can I help you?” Giles asked.
“I want my kid, where is the brat?”
Giles reached his hand behind him, placing it on your arm.
“I.. I haven’t seen them, maybe try the front.”
Giles took a step back and you did the same thing, and he tried to back you up into his office but it didn’t work.
“Get here now!”
You tensed, and you let go of Giles, going to walk around him but he took your hand, giving you a warm smile.
“Wait in my office for me.” He whispered.
“He’ll hurt you…”
“Don’t you worry about me I’ll be just fine, you go wait in there, he won’t hurt you.”
You nodded and backed yourself into the office.
“Lock the door, and call the police if you have too.”
You nodded again and locked the door, hiding under his desk, covering your ears with your hands.
Giles turned your your dad.
“Please they’ll just come back eventually.” Your dad scoffed.
“I don’t think they will, no. I sure won’t be letting them return to the likes of you.”
“What the hell does that mean?!”
“It means you have been hurting an innocent child, a child who you are supposed to love and protect and you’ve been hurting them, you’ve made them scared, left bruises and scars that’ll never go.” Giles said.
“Kids gotta learn somehow.”
“No, they don’t. I will only ask you once to leave, never return to this school or for (Y/N), from this point on they will be in my care.”
Your dad scoffed.
“Or what?”
Giles took his glasses off, setting them aside and he walked over to your dad.
“I’m taking the brat home, and they’ll be punished for running away, for being so stupid. I’ll make sure they never step foot near this stupid school again.”
Giles pulled his hand back and swung, punching your dad in the face, then he slammed him against the wall, glaring at him.
“I can make your life ten times as hard as you’ve been making it for (Y/N), I couldn’t really care less about you. I care about that teenager hiding, scared in my office.”
You dad looked up at him, pushing him away.
“Whatever take the damn brat, it’s not worth it.”
With that he left and Giles straighten his jacket before grabbing his glasses and walking over to the door to his office.
He knocked gently.
“(Y/N), it’s just me.”
He heard shuffling and the door opened.
Giles smiled softly and he stepped aside.
“It’s alright now, he’s gone and I’m certain he won’t be bothering you anymore.”
You looked into the library before looking at Giles and you rushed at him, hugging him tightly.
Giles smiled, wrapping his arms around you.
“You’re safe now..” he whispered.
You nodded your head, tears streaming from your eyes as you let go of all the fear and pain you had been bottling up inside of you.
Giles just stood there holding you, letting you cry, because he knew how much you needed to let go, how much you needed someone to hug you and remind you you’re safe

Headcanons for spending the Christmas period with the Scoobies:
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! ❄️
A/N: I think most main characters are mentioned, so there should be a little something for everyone (You seem to get on with everyone, you’re welcome).
She’s a long one, so it’s below the cut.
Warnings: Alcohol consumption and food mention. Also a bunch of super cheesy holiday cheer (yay).
Tumblr media
- Giles is, naturally hosted the big meal
- Nobody had any plans that year and so he just said that his door was open if anybody wanted to come
- But he had enough food planned out for the entire Hellmouth by then
- Xander was the first to agree, Christmas around his place was not what you would call festive
- Xander had taken to insisting you and the others did Christmas activities leading up to Christmas, you couldn’t tell if this was because he wanted to stay clear of his parents or not
- Either way, you always agreed. That night it was baking and assembling gingerbread houses
- His collapsed about twenty times before he gave in
- While you were fixing his and your own, he decided to convince you all to come on Christmas Day
- Willow reminded the room once again that she was Jewish and wouldn’t be celebrating Christmas
- But when Xander decided that it was less a celebration of Christmas and more a way to warm up your holiday blues together, she agreed
- So did you, Buffy and Dawn
- (It was a rare holiday season that had lined up where you were all single and without your family around)
- After finishing the gingerbread houses Buffy called Giles in to get him to judge the best gingerbread house
- When he stopped in front of the leaning tower of gingerbread that had been Xander’s effort everyone’s jaw dropped
- Xander cheered and gloated his way around the room, conveniently forgetting that it was technically your win
- You had done all the hard work after all
- Dawn sulked in the corner for the rest of the evening after not winning the contest
- Later that month, as Giles was still planning what had turned into a five-course meal at this point, you had been surprised by a visit from Angel
- He was surprisingly big on Christmas and had brought Christmas presents early, muttering something about an LA apocalypse between then and the big day
- He was annoyingly good at gift-giving, he’s more of a listener than a talker
- So you knew you had to get him something equally as good
- You had to race to the store that evening, having not even started your gift shopping yet
- You had Tara and Anya with you, bribing them into coming by buying them something at the Espresso Pump
- You had to get gifts for Angel and his team, you knew Cordy the best and you really missed her (and her high standards) so you needed to pick something very good for them
- The crowds were hard to manoeuvre through and Anya kept elbowing people off the sidewalk that wondered into her path
- It was why you had invited her, she was like a battering ram in these kinds of situations
- She also always had a knack for haggling
- You had found some dusty antique books for Angel and she managed to get the price right down for you
- (but she also warned that if you bought her anything discounted for Christmas you would be sorry)
- By the time you were done it was late and you still needed to wrap your presents
- You grin, having an idea
- You called up your friends, inviting them over to your apartment
- For a ‘gift wrapping party’
- Aka a Trick-your-friends-into-helping-you-wrap-presents-party
- Xander brought alcohol and some gifts for Angel’s team he clearly swiped from a gas station on his way to your place
- Willow had already wrapped hers (cos she loved giving gifts, not because she wanted to be involved Christmas) and she had helped with Buffy’s too
- but they both came for the party element
- (and… to help you obviously)
- Tara and Anya were already with you, seemingly in high spirits despite the three of you having to fight your way out of the mall
- You cranked the Christmas music up and everyone got their preferred drinks, some danced while the rest of you wrapped up your presents
- You had even bought Oz a little gift, knowing that Angel would no doubt see him in LA when he was touring
- You had always been close with Oz and you knew that although he wasn’t big on Christmas, you wanted him to know that you thought about him
- Angel ended up crashing, literally having heard your music from across town
- He was a bit hurt that you hadn’t invited him but once you explained why, you swear he smiled at you
- Maybe just for a split second
- But that was a Christmas miracle in itself
- You hugged him and loaded him up with presents for him and his team
- He was really grateful and you all partied through the night
- Angel seemed to relax and so did everyone else
- There were drinking games and a lot of bad singing to Christmas hits
- After recovering from your party and saying bye to Angel (and wishing him good luck for his apocalypse) you all piled round to Giles’ place
- You promised that you would help decorate
-You and Buffy were in charge of the tree
- While Anya, Tara and Xander were hanging paper chains
- (with anya and Xander fighting over the placement)
- Willow had joined Giles in the kitchen, watching the cookies that they had made
- Willow and Tara had been very close at your party the night before
- You decided you needed to do a bit of match-making
- You asked Giles to help you reach the top of the tree, getting him out of the kitchen
- When Buffy saw what you were doing, she instantly understood and winked at you
- Buffy went over to Tara, under the pretence of saving her from being stuck in the middle of another argument with Xander and Anya
- The witch went into the kitchen, unaware that it had been perfectly orchestrated by you and Buffy
- When you heard laughter coming from the kitchen your heart leapt
- You could only hope they were going to be together again
- By the time you were done, the house looked amazing
- Giles thanked you all with festive drinks and freshly baked cookies
- Everyone kept asking you what you wanted for Christmas, you were apparently notoriously hard to buy for
- They all groaned when you told them your only wish was for snow
- Some days, you were such a cliché
- By Christmas Eve, you had all of your presents wrapped and ready to take to Giles’ for the next day
- You had made a short trip to the hospital to visit Faith, none of you had been on the best terms when she was last conscious
- But you wanted her to know that she had someone thinking about her at this time of year
- You knew how lonely she had always been
- You left a Christmas card on her bedside table and replaced the grapes with ones you had freshly bought
- You squeezed her hand and told her she was invited to Christmas dinner the next day if she could hear you
- You ran more errands through the day, it was your favourite time of year so you didn’t mind one bit
- Most of it was ingredients for the ever-growing menu Giles had been
- He had a lot of spare time on his hands and he wanted to make it a good festive celebration for everyone
- You were laden with loads of bags, weaving through gravestones
- It was at this point you realised if any demon came your way you would be a great target
- You would not let go of the bags if your life depended on it, so a vampire could very easily overpower you
- Luckily though, nobody had stopped you
- Perhaps even demons had a little bit of Christmas spirit
- (Or, maybe, they had better things to do)
- You knocked twice on the door of the crypt before you entered
-  Spike squinted at you before muttering something to the tombstone next to him
-Harmony removed the lid and popped out to greet you
- You weren’t necessarily close with them, but they liked that you weren’t threatening their lives every time you saw them
- So, they let you off on a lot of things that they wouldn’t with anyone else
- Namely, they let you live despite often walking into the crypt they were living out of uninvited
- “Oh, I’m glad you’re here Harm!” you found yourself saying, much to the room’s surprise (mostly your own)
- You reached into your bag
- (that was much more akin to Santa’s sack by now)
- You handed her a wrapped present, it was a unicorn figurine
- She ripped into it and squealed with excitement
- “Spikey, look! Look! Aw, how cute! I can restart my collection after my horrible minions destroyed the others”
- She pulled you into a bone-crushing hug, whispering ‘oopsie’ when you made a noise that told her she was suffocating you
- “Don’t encourage her, pet, she’s already sending me round the bend about the bloody trinkets” He groaned as Harmony released you
- You were building yourself up to say something to Spike but you weren’t sure how to go about it
- You clutched the (gift wrapped) bottle of spirits in your hand, took a deep breath and tried your best
- “Spike, It’s Christmas and because at Christmas, you tell the truth… I wanted you to know that it wouldn’t be the same if you didn’t come to Giles for Christmas Dinner”
- Spike wasn’t convinced.
-He insisted it was a stupid idea, but he did snatch the liquor-shaped gift you bought him to try and convince him to come
- Honestly, as annoying as he could be, it just wouldn’t be the same without him at the meal
- It was a time to have good-will to all men (…women, people, demons and even vampires)
- So you wanted him to know he was invited
- He nodded at your gift and then gestured towards the black stocking hanging against the corner of one of the nicer tombstones in his crypt
- “Lucky dip” He said, a sparkle in his eye that meant only one thing
- It was some kind of trick
- You shuffled over there anyway, knowing that if you didn’t Harmony could probably bite you from where she was stood
- Having a chunk bitten out of you wouldn’t be the best Christmas present
- You reached in, frowning as you felt around inside the sock
- You retrieved your ‘present’, frowning at the object in your hands
- It was a single, unwrapped lump of coal
- “Uh, thanks… Spike. See you at Giles’ tomorrow”
- It was that or an tangerine, so you had lucked out really
- By Christmas morning, you were super excited
- You had always loved this time of year and you were so grateful to your little Scooby family
- You dressed quickly and made your way to Giles’, catching Dawn and Buffy on their way too
- Dawn hugged you and listed all the cool things that she had received from Buffy and her Mom
- (Joyce was on a trip for the holidays, healthy and promising to make it up to her girls in the new year)
- She liked talking to you because you never appeared to just be humouring her, you seemed genuinely enthusiastic about her new gifts
- Buffy mouthed ‘thank you’ to you and linked her arm with you
- You had never seen her so carefree and you were so glad that there had been no evil plots this Christmas
- When you arrived, Giles was busy in the kitchen but he did greet you over the sound of an electric mixer
- Willow and Tara arrived soon after, holding hands which made you smile
- Xander and Anya had even managed to keep the arguing to a minimum when they sat on the sofa in front of you
- It was so cosy and warm in Giles’ living room
- There was a fire, helped along by the coal you had sourced from Spike
- The tree looked beautiful in the corner and everyone was in a good mood
- You couldn’t remember a time when you and your friends had been so happy
- You laid the table as Xander found something festive on the tv
- Willow and Tara had brought dessert and were discussing the recipe with Anya who was looking into trying human hobbies in the new year
- She was apparently going to start with baking
- You all tucked into the meal, it was so much food but the best you had ever tasted
- Giles had covered every single food group
- After you couldn’t possibly eat any more of Giles’ food, you pulled Christmas crackers that Giles had brought
- You all groaned at the terrible jokes and fought over the colour of the little hats
- It was late afternoon when Spike took you all by surprise and entered the house, slamming the door behind him
- He grunted a greeting and went straight into piling a plate high with food
- You and Xander had to hold Buffy back more than once
- And Tara hid all the sharp wooden objects from the immediate area
- Giles gave you a withering look when he figured out who invited the vampire
- You apologised but convinced him that it was Christmas... which was your excuse for everything at this time of year
- It was lucky they were all so fond of you
- When you asked about why Harmony hadn’t come, Spike snorted almost shooting mashed potato through his nose
- He was on his third plate and it appeared to have a blood-gravy poured over the top which you tried not to think about too much
- “Didn’t want to come. ‘Fraid her archnemesis over there was setting a trap to ‘kill ‘er to death’” He gestured to Buffy who shrugged
- She was still 50/50 on whether or not to stake Spike, stating it would be giving the world a Christmas present
- But after a quick look from you, she rolled her eyes and ripped a turkey leg from the centre of the table
- Later on, you all played party games
- You paired with Giles, hoping that he would let you coast through the trivia questions
- Buffy and Xander were a team
- And Anya had to join with Willow and Tara (who were much more interested in each other than the game – which irritated a very competitive Anya)
- Dawn and Spike joined forces and managed beat you all
- Ending in you all accusing them of cheating
- Although none of you could figure out how they did it
- The argument settled down eventually and you swapped presents
- You all had a lot of fun that year and promised that this would be a new tradition
- Except Spike, who claimed that he would eat you all given half the chance
- You ignored this and focused on all the positive things
- Everyone loved your gifts
- And you got some great things, your friends knew you really well
- But your favourite gift came from Tara and Willow
- They led you outside, whispering under their breath
- You frowned for a moment until you saw it
- The first flakes of snow started to fall around you
- You couldn’t believe it, it never snowed in Sunnydale
- Everyone raced outside, making snowmen and snow angels
- You even had a massive snowball fight, where Spike sulked and went home when he realised he couldn’t even throw snow at you all without getting a headache
- You played in the snow until it the magic started to wear off
-You all went back in and warmed up, watching films together wrapped in blankets until late
- You couldn’t stop yourself grinning as you leaned against one of your friends
- It was the best Christmas you could remember
