Strong advice from Mars. Usually I don’t ask the cards or planets questions or favors. I usually start the day with a clear mind and allow them to connect on their own terms. Always approaching the grand celestial temple with humility. Taking my seat in the pews not expecting to hear a specific message from the cosmos and positioning myself in the highest receptive state I can.

Today though, Mars has ended it’s journey that we’ve been speaking on for so long. It will now reenter it’s shadow after clear revision and carry with it the lessons it revealed. We’ve seen Twitter go into a tailspin, the crashing of some crypto markets, a divided newly elected republican congress, the retreating armies of Russia in Ukraine, and, as Katy (@snakeoilcreations) just pointed out, a mass cancelation of flights all across the U.S. due to technical issues. Some of you may mor may not of heard about Brazil experiencing a mirrored electoral year with “Stolen Election” claims by Bolsonaro which concluded with they’re very own “J 7” storming of their own capital in an attempt to stop the election.

Finally, but probably not the final event. A protest against a mess of decisions made by the Peruvian government on January 9, 2023 led to the police killing 17 protesters in state sanctioned violence. Since then the number has grown to 47 deaths as the state of Peru tightens its fist. Calling a “State of Emergency” and suspending rites to its people.

With all of this and more going on in the distant world I decided to clarify my intentions today. So I wrote a note to Mars saying “Thank you Mars. For your observations and lessons in Gemini. Where should I direct my focus till the next Mars Rs?”

The response is wonderful. The Ace of Swords sits in the answer box of mental focus. Here the message says focus on bring your ideas into manifestation. The Knight of Pentacles sits in the “Actions I should take” answer box. They refer to the steady hand of work and agriculture. A steady incline of amassing resources and general saving up. The center Decan of The Knight of Disks is Virgo I. This is a Mars ruled decan in another Mercury sign! In the Waite-Smith deck it is of a man just hammering away at making physical disks. It’s a wonderful expression of Mars energy through fundamental labor that you need in order to complete your goals and build something new.

The Ace of Swords also rules over the season that we’re in. Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Through this season comes careful planning (Capricorn), refining our Ideals (Aquarius), and manifesting our dreams (Pisces). So till the Mars retrograde of 2024 I need to do the little things and effort needed to bring to form the vehicle for my future path.

I hope you try this reading. I know Mars has some intimidating correspondences. However, like every other sphere and sign. They are all apart of our lives and it’s better to respectfully engage with them instead of hiding or worse ignoring their influence on the world.

I have this argument in my mind on who would be much more stronger between Pharaoh Man and Gemini Man. As I’ve read the Incredible Shrinking Mega Man and that Wily mentioned that Gemini Man’s was based off of Pharaoh Man’s. Who do you think is more stronger besides of Gemini’s ricochet laser-type weapon and him splitting a duplicate clone(even Pharaoh Man’s punch of awesomeness)? I can see them well competent and that they could be much more of a powerful dynamic duo, in my books at least :)

Hmm, good question!

I hadn't really thought who might be stronger head to head between those two. Maaaaybe Pharaoh Man would have an edge with more experience/deadlier programming, however the ability to rebound on Gemini Man's Gemini Laser could also give him the tactical element of surprise. Teamed up would be very interesting indeed, they'd be pretty formidable :)

Almanac Magical Timing Revisited

Working in Tune With the Moon

This post revisits and expands past discussions on this blog about how the lunar system of the traditional almanacs can be applied in folk magic. These texts have a long use in popular astrology, magic, and even folk medicine. And this approach to magical timing remains relevant for practitioners today, when the information is never more than a few clicks away.

In the days when small family farms dotted the American landscape, a fruitful crop meant the difference between success and starvation. People naturally looked to the heavens for help, and the traditional almanacs – The Old Farmer’s Almanac, The Farmers’ Almanac and their cousins – provided useful lunar information that informed a host of traditions. Farmers used the Moon’s activity as a guide not only for planting and harvesting, but for many areas of life (from the most fortuitous day for a wedding, to the best time to have a tooth pulled). In parallel to this down-home practice, lunar timing can be found in grimoires and other magical texts dating back centuries, so it should come as little surprise that the almanacs earned a place in folk magic as well.

It’s important to say at the outset that almanac-based timing is entirely lunar – not solar like popular horoscopes – and relatively simple, without the complicated calculations of full electional astrology. The two key elements are the Moon’s sign and the Moon’s phase, which you can find in your favorite almanac or online. (My favorite site for this is Astro Seek. In print or e-book form, readers might enjoy The Witches Almanac alongside the traditional farming options)

Let’s begin with the moon’s signs.

Attributes of the Signs

The Moon travels through a new sign of the Zodiac every two or three days. Each sign has four key attributes to consider:

Element: Each sign is associated with one of the four classical elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. Broadly speaking, farmers who “plant by the signs” prefer to plant in Water or Earth signs, and prune or harvest in the Fire or Air signs. For magical and planning purposes, the correspondences of the elements can be used.

Humor: The four humo(u)rs relate to the four elements. In the classical medicine of Hippocrates, they were thought to be present in the blood and rule our temperaments and health. It can be useful to think of these as part of the “personality” of each sign – as well as how we as physical creatures embody the elements – and work accordingly. Fire signs are Choleric, Earth signs are Melancholic, Air signs are Sanguine, and Water signs are Phlegmatic. Planet: Each sign is ruled by one of the classical planets, which provide another useful correspondence for planning. Since the classical planets also rules a day of the week, you can match the appropriate moon sign to a compatible day of the week for extra oomph.

Body Part: Every sign represents part of the human body, as seen in the curious “Zodiac Man” illustration at the top of this post. Each body part or organ was thought to be especially sensitive when the moon was in that sign, leading to a tradition that one shouldn’t have surgery done on a region of the body when the moon moved through the associated sign. The body part associated with each sign is also often used as a nickname for the sign among old-time almanac users (as can be heard in this podcast interview of Appalachian farmers), so it’s listed beside the name below. Magically, the bodily association adds a useful additional correspondence.

The 12 Signs

Now, let’s take a look at each individual sign and favorable workings or activities to pursue when the Moon is in it:

Aries ♈︎ (the Head): The Ram is useful for achieving rapid and short-term results, shoving a situation forward, boosting confidence, or confronting or controlling an opponent. (Element: Fire, Humor: Choler, Planet: Mars.)

Taurus ♉︎ (the Neck): The Bull is a fruitful sign associated with matters of money and prosperity, material goods, creature comforts, long-term goals, and achieving slow and steady progress that lasts. (Element: Earth, Humor: Melancholy, Planet: Venus.)

Gemini ♊︎ (the Arms): When the Moon is in the Twins, work for communications, travel, social interaction, tasks requiring cleverness, studying, and multitasking and other “Mercurial” pursuits. (Element: Air, Humor: Blood, Planet: Mercury.)

Cancer ♋︎ (the Breast/Chest): The Crab is associated with home life, domesticity, family, and depth of feeling. (Element: Water, Humor: Phlegm, Planet: The Moon.)

Leo ♌︎ (the Heart): The Lion is a positive sign of courage, determination, charisma and creativity, and it’s often said to be a strong sign for love and romance, as well as work relating to children. (Element: Fire, Humor: Choler, Planet: The Sun.)

I've been imagining on what would happen if the show did continued for season 3, and perhaps even season 4. It is said that Proto Man would be switching sides for real this time and fights alongside with Mega Man. I would imagine that even Roll would have little bit more of a purpose to serve. Plus, I would think that several Robot Masters would be involve to change as well like say maybe Pharaoh, Bomb, Gemini, and even Cut Man. What are your ideas if the show did continued back then?

Proto Man switching sides for real is something many fans wanted to see. What would the social dynamic between him and the other good guys be like? Would it be accepting like Bro Bots, or mistrusting like Strange Island of Dr. Wily (which was probably the closer of the two to a ‘true team up’ between Mega and Proto). I suppose this would depend A LOT if Proto Man had reformed willingly, or had been reprogrammed (Mega Man’s plan in The Beginning!)

Either way, hopefully Proto Man would remain his same sarcastic assholish self (in a good way! again, going with his Strange Island behavior over Bro Bots where Proto was being fake) and not turn him into goofy comic relief…

It would have been cool to see Mega Man and Proto Man deal with history behind Mega Man’s “For a minute I forgot myself…you’re more twisted than a car wreck!” line (RS painted Proto Man with a subtle yet dark sociopathic/nihilistic side, his whole ‘Join me Bro or I’ll kill you or let one of Wily’s other robots kill you, doesn’t matter to me either way I’m having a good time lol” which is messed up but also super interesting) but the show had the depth of puddle sooo that’s what fanfiction’s for…

Sadly, I kinda think if Proto had gone good, he would replace Roll as a sidekick and she’d get LESS screentime (in Bro Bots she’s absent for a lot of the action…) though maybe that’s jut a pessimistic take of canon. Maybe he would take up Rush’s screen time instead! The true gift of season 3.

It is said Bass would have eventually joined the show (Mega Man 7 was releasing in North America?). If true, who knows how RS would have done his character, haha.

It’s hard to speculate if any of the Robot Masters would have crossed over as well (and which ones and why) but that would have been really cool to see too! (I’ve speculated before on what if Guts Man had become a good guy)

Any of these developments would really change the formula of the show (hopefully for the better) so it’s too bad we never saw them.

chifuyu is a big sweetheart that honestly will absolutely put your mental health before his. sometimes this can be an issue especially when he's having a rough go, but something about being a solid part of your life and a piece that you know will never abandon you brings him a lot of comfort and also confidence. he's not really one to be all that aware of his confidence issues but something about you makes him a lot more surefooted.
