im watching stargate atlantis for the first time without watching sg1 or having literally any background knowledge and all I can think about is how john sheppard is definitely a gay man very deep in the closet due to like...... being in the military in the early 2000s. I'm sorry but he only has any kind of tension with the men in this show (rodney and ronon specifically) and anytime he interacts with a woman it's so painfully platonic.
I also have some thoughts about how most of the atlantis crew is probably some kind of outcast with little to no ties to earth and now they're in the literal Mythical City of Atlantis. impossible things are happening. new bonds under new circumstances are forming. very queer to me idk.
also comparing john to kirk IN the text is interesting considering james t kirk was shipped so strongly with his chief science officer (aka his rodney equivalent 👀) that the pairing pretty much created fandom as we know it.
idk ive been at work all day and I'm tired so I feel like I could articulate my point there a lot better but that's what I've got rn

thinking about rodney calling john kirk all the time and how it's very ironic bc kirk and spock are like. The Gay Ship and i started thinking about the rest of the city assuming this is some like... code word between them? like rodney calls john kirk so often (and always around ladies that are flirting) and i think the atlanteans would just be like "well that's clearly code for 'lets fuck later'" and like it becomes so well known that johns fully aware of this and whenever rodney calls him kirk he's like. weirdly jealous and upset about it idkidk i'm just. thinking a lot about rodney calling john kirk the implications

I made a post similar to this before but if Stargate: Atlantis was airing today the McKay love would be so intense. He’s literally THE blorbo blueprint. he’s wet, he’s pathetic, he’s whiny, he’s a coward, he’s the bravest man in the world, he has incredible character growth, he accidentally destroyed a solar system, he saved the world countless times, he’s annoying, he cares about his friends, he’s nd coded. he’s such a fully developed and complicated character played by a genuinely talented actor.
don’t even get me started on McShep lol. the only reason it lost the shipping poll so bar (rip) is because it’s an older fandom. McShep makes me feral fr fr.

David is finished!
This is a charcoal base and then pastel pencils over the top. It's on the really good Sennelier paper, which I don't use often. It takes a lot of layers but if you work it too much the scratchiness starts to come off.
I still have Rachel Luttrell and David Nykl to do, amongst others. But I find out what plans for more chemo etc there are on Thursday... I'm not compromising on Basingstoke, though! I'm going and that's that!
