Disaster Twins Headcanon!

You know that video where that dog needs eyedrops and the other dog wants them too so the owner has to pretend to give both of them the eyedrops?

That is a 1000% Leo and Donnie!

When they were really little, Splinter managed to get some mystical cream for Donnie's soft shell that adds a layer of protection or something and tiny Leo would always butt in because that's his twin and they share everything! Too bad the cream is expensive and wouldn't do anything for Leo anyway so Splinter refuses.

He suffers through 3 days of epic tandrums until he finally gets a clue and just pretends. Gives Donnie the special cream and then sneakily switches it for some simple Nivea or something and then does the same for Leo who beams proudly cause they are twins and they share everything!

As they grow older Donnie catches on to their father's ruse but Leo never does. Once Don is old enough to apply the cream himself (with help of his tech) he tells himself that he will not continue this tradition or whatever you want to call it. Leo is old enough. He should have grown out of tandrums by now.

But the first day he applies the cream Leo barges into his lab with the biggest smile.

"Oh, it's cream day! I love cream day, it's like a spa day but the poor turtles version."

And he skips over and sits down in front of Donnie with his back facing his brother. And Donnie rolls his eyes. "Sigh. Listen Nardo, I-"

Leo interrupts him. "Sooooo." he drawls, rocking back and forth a little. "What's new with you, oh brother mine?"

And Donatello remembers afternoons sitting side by side with his brother while their father slowly and methodically covers their shells with two different creams, bickering back and forth, shoulders brushing and relaxed.

Ugh. Sentimental flashback. Gross.

But he silently fishes the tube of store bought cream out from where his father, with a knowing smile and completely ignoring Donnie's protests, had put it.

Maybe he can keep the ruse up a little bit longer. Just a little bit.

"Matter of fact, I'm in the process of inventing something that will revolutionize the world of thermodynamics as we know it."

"Sounds super nerdy!"

"Shut it, Lee. And hold still!"
