DNA
DNA - What was your Muse's home life like?
Before the unending isolation in Mount Massive, Rick lived in an open floor-plan studio refurbished from an old mill. Upper floors, probably the third. He kept a variety of teas in his cabinets, and his favorite place in the flat was the kitchen. It was the cleanest room of his home.
There was always order. Specific things had specific places, A vase filled with twigs and red ferns near the door, the couch pillows each had a partner they nestled up against in the crook of the couch's cushions. Not a picture frame was ever out of place. In Richard's eyes, his home was the one thing he knew he could control, and he felt content in that thought.
He preferred to not have company over, unless he felt desperately alone. More drugs for him, he justified. The rare occasions he'd have someone over were the quiet, late nights when everyone in the city was asleep. He needed to feel some sort of connection to what he was, after all. Drugs can't mend a person-sized hole in your heart. As life before the engine had it, Richard could never hold onto one person for long enough. He was too messy, she was too loud, he wanted too much cocaine, they wanted to 'Fix Him'--- the list of Not Right People didn't seem to have an end for Rick. Eventually, his days began to bleed together during the florescent blindness of the asylum, and his home became a sore memory of another love lost.
As sore as the more recent memories were of Richard's apartment, the home he shared with his family gushed like a stuck pig if he poked it, and he abandoned that light before it could die out first. He remembers only the fun he'd made with his sister when they were children. That haven is half of the reason he has any concept of his current self at all. A treehouse he and his sister made of twigs and rope felt sturdier than the insured, two-story home his parents owned at the end of a cul-de-sac.
He blocks out the recalling of them, but often will have nightmares of terrible arguments his parents would have, and the terror would take form of the subject they'd fight about; another man or woman usually overbearingly affectionate towards Rick and his sister, a devil or dead man with coins over his eyes and gold nuggets falling from his sleeves, whipping sounds would crack and disorient Rick, blind him, even... It wasn't ever alright.
A horrid memory will creep its way into his mind's eye from time to time, when he and his sister found a lake that buoyed a corpse towards them, all bloated and foul. He dared his sister to touch the corpse, and after her crying and refusing, he pushed his sister onto the corpse. He vividly remembers how he felt when he did it. Frustrated, cynical, bitter. His sister would crawl back onto her feet after getting soaked and pushing the corpse's head into the murkiness below the water, and like a light switch, Rick snapped into the reality of what he'd done. Tears flooded his eyes, and he grabbed his sister up, apologizing profusely. The relationship would never be the same, but she expressed forgiveness the night Richard left his parents' home.
That night was muggy. Cicadas and beetles chirped outside, hiding the back door opening and closing. Rick woke his sister up, and took her to the treehouse they made together. The tweens shared a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey, as Richard told her his plan of leaving, and he swore. He swore he'd find her and whisk her away to another treehouse he'd make just for them. He kissed her on the forehead, and they hugged for a long time. It was the last time they would share a bottle of whiskey. This, he reminds himself, I will always remember.

hello sir i just wanted to ask if you ship miles and blaire... because they definitely will look good in your style
... Anon, what did you just do to me?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I ship most of the characters I like together. Particularly Miles, Jeremy, Rick and Waylon. I'll let you decide to mix and match them together because that's basically how it works in my mind.
In my headcanon, Rick, Jer and Way have some history together and it's a bit complicated. Just imagine Rick being sent to the engine and Waylon being the only one Jer could trust.
Also I originally wanted to add few more panels, where Jeremy adds: "The person who did this to you... He resembles you so much". Because yes, in my HC, Miles is basically the good version of Rick hahaha
Miles then would react disgustedly and says "What a fucked up thing to say; comparing him to me, his victim?"

If you write for Richard Trager, could you do some hcs for him with a quiet or timid s/o?
Richard Trager x Timid!Reader Headcanons
Content disclaimer:
Toxic relationship (but not as much as it realistically would be), Mention of small injuries, Very slight sexual content, Gender neutral reader
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Oh, I feel sorry for you. No matter how much he likes you, you're not going to get away from his sadism that easily.
He'll figure out ways to get you out of your shell. Annoying you until you speak up? Yes. Scaring you to get a loud reaction out of you? Definitely. Putting you in frightening situations on purpose? No doubt.
The asylum is already terrifying as it is, but he'll intentionally lose you to freak you out. However, there is no need to worry, this sadist makes sure you're safe while he gives you a panic attack.
Rick is willing to go as far as cutting you. It's never anything serious or lethal, just nicks and scratches, to see how you react. Your little squeals and yelps greatly amuse him.
He is also quite touchy-feely. A hand on your hip here, a brush of his fingers on your chest there. He gets major enjoyment out of your flustered self.
It's also common for him to try to get a reaction out of you by verbal means. Dirty comments about your body, teasing jabs regarding your timidness.
These things don't mean he doesn't like you the way you are, he just wants to push you as much as he can, it's the doctor in him.
He quite enjoys your quiet personality, actually. You're his little piece of heaven in this insanity, the only thing to make him calm.

No idea why this made me wanna write it so fast lol
sorry if it's short

Outlast antagonists headcanons
I'm only considering the ones from the first game, because for the other ones I haven't much to say. I consider Father Martin a morally grey character so he isn't here.
Tumblr media
Chris Walker
The little pig plush it's always been his confort toy since he was a child. When he came back from the war Chris used it to mourn himself to cope
If he wasn't killed in the underground laborator and managed to kill everyone there he eventually would stay in the asylum and kill anyone who came near the facility, becoming a sort of urban legend
He really wanted to kill Trager but he was too concentrated on Miles. He barelly know him but he's still very angry with every Murkoff employees to think straight
Chris surely knows everyone in the asylum, judging Father Martin's purpose as ridiculus.
Richard Trager
I actively decided to ignore canon so before the mutation he had grey hair tied in a ponytail and glasses
His dedication to self-learning medicine is at the point that he sewed a ton of cuts himself. Also he told peolpe that he was an actual doctor and convinced them to be analyzed by him
When was a regular employee Trager used to call "kiddo" any coworker younger than him
(I once saw a fanart of this on pinterest) I think Trager is the type of mindfucker that tells kids things like "Don't smoke kids, its dangerous” but then snorts cocaine
The Twins
Not much to say about those guys exept they were sigly abused by their negletful parents who leave scars on their bodies. Later the social services took them and entrusted them to another family, but the damage was already done
They always lived symbiosis, isolatimg themself from the rest of the world, Their adoptive parents tryed to help them, but slowly they gave up. Later the two brothers killed them
They decided to follow Father Martin for basically no reason. They think that being under his protection would have make them untouchable, somehow.
Eddie Gluskin
I am a horrible person and I hc his birthday as February 14th
While he was basically a serial killer, I like to think that he worked in a wedding dress shop. At some point of his life he dropped school and the owner of that shop thaught him how to sew and pack clothes. Eddie could have stabilized himself, but he was already too deranged
Eddie hates women that much because his mother always knew what his father and uncle done to him and when they get to prison she blames him for taking her husband away from her
I actually think he would be a decent father. Of course he's a borderline psychopath and would rise his child in a sick environment full of torture and murder, but I don't think he would ever hurt them (intentionally, at least)
Frank Manera
I do think he murdered his family and cooked them after years of instabiliy
When he went to the Mount Massive he was put in the hands of a pretty sadistic guard who basically starved him in order to "punish him in the proper way"
His hair turned gray due to the stress of captivity
Actually he managed to not being catch by the SWAT but later he died for some kind of diase because of eating raw human meat
Jeremy Blaire
This man screams daddy issues. Like, have y'all present the song "Are you satisfied?" by Marina? Yeah, that's Jer.
While he was friend with Trager he used to be very embarassed of him and his chaoticity. They went on golf club like any bored rich but Jer constantly avoied Trager at parties
Actually treats like shit EVERY employee that's not his superior, but he really targeted Waylon more than anyone. Like one time he challenged him to arm wrestling and kept him busy for an hour and a half to make him understand how a real man behaves
Example of a cisgender straight white male, bye

you can not anwser, if this is out of pocket for you, but i was wondering do you see du'met being in knifeplay? doing it to charlie? can it be mutual?
aw don’t fret! i do like being asked stuff. i mean, it kinda pushes me to think about things, that i might have not thought about before. and overall, it’s a pretty fun question, actually!
but mmm, i must say, that i very rarely indulge in scenarios, where the characters are fully-aware and/or normalize their kinks. i’d rather they’d either be very unsuspecting, that it’s a kink at all or be like jesus, so embarrassing, must not ACT on it!! why i’m like this!!? *clears throat* i guess, you can say, that i’m not really into ‘kinky freaks’, who embrace these urges/desires with wit and by-the-book knowledge. it isn’t always like this clearly, but i tend to love more ‘random’ and self-explanatory set ups, when the characters sorta dab into it, not knowing any better, or not even knowing what makes them want/do that in the first place. it’s more of a personal fav/pref, than anything else tho. bc already 'established' kink can be fun too. like one of such examples might be richard trager (the outlast), who is kinda canonically have a medical kink/obssessed with it. he's just that kind of dude. a sort of a person, who had always low-key sexualized his sadism. like fingers, tongue, balls part was pretty telling, if y’know what i’m referring to lol. so he would love to mix his ‘gross’ interests with sex, clearly. but like literally every other character, who i wrote is just not on the same mindplane as good ole rick, haha. they might have a kink, but they’re so clueless about it, that you can’t even call them out. and tbh, i don’t see du’met being any different from this, either.
i don’t think, that he sexualizes his ‘art’. or his weapons. or that he even thinks about sex even remotely, when he kills and ‘creates’. i assume, that he always felt some kind of latent lust, when he killed men, esp the first ones. but it was so in ‘the back’, so inferior compared to his ‘study’, and to the act of murder in itself. like, i can’t see him mixing harm and sex intentionally is what i’m saying. but it is fun to think about him accidently doing it with/to charlie and then, being kind of confused about what he feels. but unlike the other times, it’s no longer a mere shiver in the background, it’s so present and real. that he’d be taken aback, bc this never happened before. and it’s illogical. he dislikes stuff, that can't be broken in 'math', haha. so i assume, that he won’t do it again (whatever it would be) right away, bc he has to analyze it first, make sense of it. naturally, he won’t be able to, haha. and naturally, he would do it again, using some sort of inner excuse, that he has to be sure or smth. i can’t help, but imagine, that he will do it with such a hilarious level of pragmatism too, like he’s in a science class and not trying to figure out his own urges. meanwhile, charlie will be just profoundly confused on wtf this even is lol. like, i do agree with some other folks on hc, that charlie is kinda a total virgin lol. but i also hc, that du’met (hector munday) is the nearly same way lmao. i think, that he barely has any ‘experience’ over charlie in that regard. so for them, it’s like a teenagers-inside-their-bedroom-and-hands-on-weird-places kind of thing, haha. when u have no idea what to do, but is eager to do smth at least.
now, specifically for knifeplay, i can actually only see it happening & taking place as you placed it ‘mutually’. maybe, you meant smth different there, but as i took it - is that charlie would be kinda into it too. and this, might or rather, it would be what could kickstart it. charlie's weird reaction. the reason why i think this, is bc if charlie enjoyed it, he would have had a different response to it compared to when a normal person is being cut. du’met is a sadist. but it’s not sexual for him. he just loves, when someone/smth in pain, he doesn’t jerk off to it lol. but if he’ll cut charlie and he whines, but then also softly moans or smth, du’met would pause and be like huh, that’s…odd. charlie’s unusual display is most likely will be the very thing, that would make him curious and even attentive to it. in a fucked up way, this is almost like a positive interaction for du'met. a bonding activity. and for charlie, it’s banally intense. always going to be, bc he can’t be too trustful of du’met’s ability to hold himself back. but it’s part of it. as well, as realization, that du’met actually do try to control himself, when he’s with charlie like this.
but tbh, i’m also a bit bias here. toward knives and light ‘harm’, that can turn very bloody, if you’re not careful. and for charlie’s sake, du’met better watch his hand and how steady it is. but speaking of ‘mutual’ experience here, i can picture du’met prompting charlie to do it to him too, like cut him, mostly for ‘science’, to see if he will ‘enjoy’ it like charlie does. and charlie will end up doing nothing and prob sobbing, bc he’s a wimp lmao. like most people would have used this situation to actually wound du’met, and charlie will be a mess. he can’t do it. which if funny in a way, bc du’met clearly have a very high tolerance to pain, prob ‘thanks’ to his mother. charlie, on other hand, more of a crybaby in that regard, but he can take a lot of abuse, and can even sustain it with these little noises, when it’s du’met who inflicts it. and for du'met it’ll be puzzling. but also thrilling. he’s the one, who causes it after all. just him. and this is too just for him. the same thing, is on charlie’s side. he’s the only person, who survives the touch of du’met’s knife over and over. like. there won’t even be a scar, bc he’s that careful, really.
*reads it over* and this is prob where i’ll stop, or i won’t shut up and will go even futher with this.

XXX
XXX - What's the most raunchiest thing your muse has ever done?
In his heyday, Rick Trager wouldn't hesitate to share scenes of sexual conquest to any old body he wanted to impress. On a noticeably delirious day, the doctor would brag to his 'patients' that folks just couldn't get enough of his cock. He'd snort out an awful chuckle, and drone on with gross, intimate detail of how he'd pull whatever naive little bird he wanted.
All total horse-shit, of course. Trager kept his sexuality like a dragon's hoard, and would rarely allow himself to become as vulnerable as sharing his jewels with anyone who he couldn't read like a vacation brochure. An exception, however, wriggled her awful way into Richard's sex life before Wernicke's infernal machine could have the chance to fuck him.
When Marley fucking Hobgood arrived at Mount Massive, the buzzards flocked. She was an anomaly. Every doctor, every executive that tried to have their way with her (sexually, scientifically, micro-politically) had received a pushback tenfold, delivered personally by her hand. She was wrathful and cunning, quick-witted and unequivocally resourceful. A root which the doctor executive couldn't help but stumble over.
It began with biting dares. Quippy banter that a romantic only wishes they could recreate--- a villain, and the underdog runt which everyone cheered on. Daily visits proved that banter eventually died out, and once Marley caught on, Rick was the only executive she'd even let walk into the small cell, unscathed. She ate up his competitive, aggravating wit, and took it as a game --- an eventual ticket out of Mount Massive.
In October of 2010, a string of tedious, back to back meetings led Richard into staying late one night. Most employees had gone home, and this wasn't the first time Rick had fallen asleep at his desk. On nights prior, he'd take to the cell blocks, ripping away the privacy of night from any patient in house. Sometimes he would antagonize them, causing an entire block to awake in uproar. Even rarer, the doctor would call an escort to spirit away a rather unremarkable victim. The experiments began soon after Hobgood arrived.
This particular night, however, he wandered to Marley's cell. It was more or less a surprise in the groggy, hollow state Rick had been in, but here he was, nonetheless. The officer of this block wasn't around, and peeping inside, he noticed Marley's steady breathing. Having the keycard to most cell-blocks (thank you, Jeremy), the executive took the liberty of stepping inside, the heavy door clicking shut behind him.
And the world outside was silenced. Richard's mind swirled with vertigo before the quiet breaths of Marley Hobgood awakened his dull, drowned out heart beat. In his white coat's breast pocket, the syringe filled with a black, thick liquid became sickeningly real. A bead of sweat fell from his head into his eye. It stung, as his fingers snaked their way into the breast pocket, and curled around the syringe in familiarity.
The months of challenging grins shared between the two flashed through his mind, and his heart beat faster as he stooped to Marley's side and injected the liquid slowly into her veins. The picture-perfect memory of her charming smile was erased as her eyes opened, centering immediately on Trager. Blood rushing into his ears, his lips meet Marley's. You have been the only solace in this hell, Richard thought, as the infection spread over her skin.
The kiss was not enough to save his conscience from this act, however, and so deeper he pushed. The elixir had stolen strength from Marley, and in her final refusal, she took the syringe from her neck and stuck the motherfucker in the eye. She collapsed as Trager recoiled, ripping the syringe from his eye. He threw it to the side of the room and after a strained groan, "bitch, I l o v e you! Yer just too goddamn fun t'leave alone!" He grabbed her face. With a mutated intrigue of disgust, curiosity, anticipation, he absorbed the phenomenon with his remaining eye as the parasite covered, inexplicably, half of her face. She blearily stared at him with an inkling of betrayal, and reached her hand to his face, "you don't love me."
Trager laughed contritely, "you're the only fuckin thing I love," and pressed himself against her, feeling the untainted softness of her skin against his lips, blood dripping hungrily down onto a smooth canvas from the eye Marley claimed as her own trophy.

Heya how about your hc for jer? Sorry if this has been asked before! my eyebrows just raised the highest possible when i heard he and the other two have some history being together or whatever!
Oh god i always get embarrassed whenever people ask my hc about them ksjdkjf
My headcanon of him gradually changes over time, but overall, it still has the same feeling. Unlike the games and comics, nothing terrible happened to them as much, but still, a bit complicated, not much, apparently, it's because i censor them sm lmao.
I never think much of this, whether they've met before Murkoff or not, it doesn't really matter that much and you can say that Way and Jer are from the same college or at least have met before Murkoff. Probably acquaintances at best.
Jeremy, to his employees, wasn't necessarily mean or a jerk in most cases. In fact, he's seen as respectable and admirable. He smiles a lot, gives compliments when a person does their job right, etc, etc. But when he catches his employee slacking, there will be no end to that. He's not a good guy, everything in Murkoff Account still counts as canon in my HC. He is just, for the most part, apathetic and feels like he's just doing his job. He's actually an honest and responsible worker at best, never cheats his way through his position, that's why if a riot happens and everything burns to the ground, he will stay for keeping his responsibility, and mostly, pride.
Rick is an annoying bastard. But a troubled man with family issues and he hates himself. Unlike Jer who worked hard to be in his position right now, he's using nepotism as a cheat to get into his position. Well, he might still be good at business, btw. It's just that his mischievous nature gets him every time, so he often annoys people around him as he did to Paul and Pauline, hence most people despise him for that. He and Jer wasn't really a good duo - it's because one time Jer scolds Rick for sleeping during office hours, and they somehow became close from then on. Jer is considered a coward by him for constantly panicking over Rick getting into trouble again and again. Forcing Jer to cover for him every time he makes a mess. Due to his interest in biology and surgeries, I think he occasionally borrows some patients to be experimented on - his parents might want him to be a businessman but he wants to be a surgeon, goddammit.
Waylon has been an employee at Murkoff for a while. It could be months or years [I'm not planning to make him an old employee or anything like that, probably only for 2-4 years max]. He never actually suspects anything. Every company is shady, and he didn't expect anything less from Murkoff - they hid their history well. Waylon agrees to join the project walrider because he was short on budget, and has to pay for family expenses and all that, so he resorts to the quickest thing he could find. Of course, through Jeremy's recommendation.
I won't really get into many details since this is an SFW blog, but let's say that this trio, along with the office worker tag, makes me think a lot about them. i HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY BUT I CANT SPILL THEM HERE.
Soooo... everything started when Rick notices Jeremy has a small crush on Waylon. It's subtle, he just likes to pay attention to the man's face and the small details he does every time he passes or sits in his office. He has no intention of getting close to him. But somehow Rick notices this and started being nosy about it. Teasing Jer by saying "I wonder what Mr. Park's doing at this hour" out of nowhere, and then finally invites Waylon to their office just to annoy the man, yea if you ask Waylon, he's annoyed as well lmao. To the point of bribing Waylon to say "Good morning, how are you today, Sir?" to further annoy Jeremy.
Jeremy softens over time, slowly chipping the wall he's created between him and Waylon. It's a slow progress, but Waylon does notice a thing or two changes, that includes an expensive brand of cup of coffee delivered to his desk when he works overtime. They're getting closer through small things. Eventually, it's mostly sexual with no romantic feelings attached, I know some people might get confused about this, but,,,, idk i just feel that way. If it's more than platonic then it's sexual for them.
So, anyway. The Murkoff Account thing with Rick happen, and Jeremy couldn't even defend him at this point. He watches every second of it, he has to force himself to keep calm and distant as a professional. But deep down, it's difficult for him. Rick was the only friend he ever had, even if they were not as close as real friends would. It just feels different.
The worst part about it was he couldn't tell Waylon everything because, at the time, he wasn't part of the project - not that it would change when he joined the project by then anyway... It just, to Waylon, Rick disappeared and Jer never mentions anything about him ever again - being asked about it, he always tells Waylon that he was gone, resigning, boom, no goodbye party or whatever - well, he supposed, for a company like Murkoff, there's no way a goodbye party would be held, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
God the anatomy for this one is p bad so i went ahead and put him a t-shirt and fix his arms position lmao
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Waylon was the second closest to him, but he couldn't fully trust him too much. Waylon does watch things happen, he notices every single change Jeremy went through, subtly.
The truth later makes Waylon betray his trust too, as expected. This resulting Jer being petty by calling him names and insulting him in front of the guards in the Whistleblower opening scene - it's supposed to be THAT personal. Leading this part to happen [this is just a reimagined for the anon who asked about JerMiles, but his feelings about it are still the same]

how about jer and rick’s height? are they at least taller than miles and way?
The Outlast characters are extremely tall for some reason. Specially with the antagonists..
Tumblr media
I don't mind if I make them shorter if we downplay their heights. But this comparison remains the same in my head

Oooo I read your hcs on Jeremy and Waylon dynamic and a bit of an idea sorta came up, it’s a little unrelated but… Do you think Jer would see Miles as some sort of replacement for Waylon and try to go after him? I feel like it becomes way too obsessive and it scares off Miles (but Jer doesn’t see it that way, he’s just gone into incel mode bc of everything that’s happened with his past relationships so far, like ‘why do you all leave me????’) or something lol
TLDR: It could happen! But I have my reasons AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO STOP RAMBLING IM SO SORRY ANON
That could happen if we're taking the desperate route hahaha though I feel like Miles can replace Rick rather than Waylon, since they're both kinda similar, in a way. So basically RickJer is the rich and spoiled version of camerashipping.
So, if the thing with Miles really happens, I think he'd just give everything up and put up a thick wall and just do something by himself. It's up to Miles if he wants to get closer to him or not (huge possibility by the way, Miles is just THAT adamant sometimes, mainly because Jer is a former one of the leaders of a shady transnational company, and he wants to know more about Murkoff)
It's too long so I'm going to place the details of Jer's feelings about Rick and Way under the cut!
So, to put it simply following this anon's question...
Tumblr media
It's nothing climatic tbh. He doesn't lash out or anything like that. It's just... When you knew a person would do something bad to you before they do it, and the thing really happens in the future, you feel almost numb about them. It’s juft poof all the positive and even negative feelings are gone. “I’m not surprised, but I’m still mad” kinda feeling?
He's met people with various personalities, he can predict how people would react and act based on their personalities alone. He knew Waylon would actually send the emails (he just didn't expect worse stuff will happen as well). It's almost like he has no energy to even be mad about it lol but he still wants it to be hurt as much as his efforts were gone to waste (to understand this, please read my ramble under the cut, I'm sorry,,,), so he's being petty about it,,
"Somebody's been telling stories outside of class. Mr. Waylon Park, consulting contract 8208. Software engineer with a level 3 security clearance. Graduated cum laude from Berkley, but still somehow not smart enough to realize that the last thing a fly ought to do in a spider's web is wiggle. Somehow dumb enough to think that a borrowed laptop, onion router, and firewall patch would be enough to fool the world's leading supplier of biometric security. Stupid, Mr. Park. More than stupid, in fact, that was crazy."
LIKE ITS KINDA FUNNY IF YOU THINK ABOUT HIS DIALOGUES THAT WAY. I'd love to imagine that he was genuinely surprised Waylon actually attempted to send them through a shitty plan, it was insane, so at the same time he's laughing at Way's attempt while the actual person is terrified senseless on the floor. akjaksdjkad
I think a lot about Jer and it's really embarrassing......
My take on him is pretty boring and weird, I guess? Jeremy never actually... Feel the need to befriend/love someone, he didn't expect to have one so soon - it was just that Rick and Waylon happened to be people who were close to him, so he made some efforts into their relationship, expected something more from them in return, since he trusted them. Rather than mourning over people who betrayed him, he's frustrated over the things he had sacrificed in exchange for their companionship; All the money, all the covering efforts, all the emotions, the sentiments, etc, etc, are all wasted on people like them. It's not like he's close close with them either, they're pretty much just friends with benefits to putting it in summary lol
One of my friends described it so much better but unfortunately I don't remember how he worded it so bear with me anon I'm sorry, When Jeremy watches as Rick was sent to the engine, he doesn't feel sad. Rick wasn't his friend, but he feels like something is missing - something about it made him feel betrayed - probably betrayed by himself... Even the feeling itself disturbs him because even he couldn't pinpoint what was causing it. It's between "I'm completely fine even if you die" and "I wish you were here" to put it simply. I know I'm sorry if your brain exploded there,,, emotions are complicated tbh
So... it's not really like Jer isn't capable of human emotions, but rather, it's more complicated because he views emotions as something to be suppressed because they can weaken you. Showing emotions makes him vulnerable, thus making him pile up emotions and complicates stuff because he doesn't even understand himself.
