Something I love about Iván is how loyal and protective he is over the people he cares about. Like once he recognizes you as one of his people, he'll legit go to the end of the earth with you. He's very ride and die.

And I am going to end my El Internado rewatch posts on Ivan and Marcos, who started the show by wanting to punch each other’s teeth in and ended up as best of everything, incandescently happy and utterly free, having burned down the Nazi school from hell to the ground.
This was a rare show that held up on rewatch - I still laughed and sniffled and shipped and raged and swooned. It had some awesome performances and characters but was held together by really solid writing that knew what to keep and to discard and aaaaaaaa such a pleasure!
And yes, Ivan x Julia are still in my Top 5 tv OTPs and Ivan in top 5 fave TV characters. Here we are.

Sigh. Carolina.
Caro, Caro, Caro.
You and your friends are being watched and having your rooms searched and objects seized by someone with at least assault on their minds. Your friends come to the (wise) conclusion that the questions you all have been asking and the answers you all have been seeking aren't worth dying for. So what do you, Caro, do? Do you support their decision? Or shame them as cowards for prioritizing their well-being? If you chose the latter, then you are definitely Caro. 🙄
Also, the way she lights up when Marcos makes it clear he will continue to investigate, as though he were doing so for truth, justice and bravery when he explicitly states he's only interested in pursuing any of it because he and his sister have no choice about living at the school, so he can't afford to ignore danger. Literally the only one with a relatively reasonable reason to continue and still, the best course of action is to tell an adult and hope for the best. But then we wouldn't have a show, so I guess, thank you, Caro???

Finally watched Knives Out. I enjoyed the hell out of it (so much that if it weren’t for the deep-seated horrors present in the SW’s fandom bs, I would actually consider watching TLJ lol. Either way, I’m going to keep an eye out for RJ’s films from now on). There are a couple vague allusions ahead I guess? But I’ve tried to keep the post spoiler-free.
The way it’s filmed is just *chef’s kiss*. I can’t wait to rewatch it. I think I felt in love in the very first second. The scenery! The music! The dogs! THE DRAMA!! And how and when the motif was repeated. The motifs and the props just... knive throne! donuts! GO! The house’s decorations! Shoe! Mug! I need to make gifs of this film desperately.
It’s campy in the best way possible. I wasn’t expecting that, I expected something a lot more typical/closer to the genre/whatever. This is much better.
Is it weird if I say I feel proud of Ana de Armas? LOL. I’ve been a fan since her days in El Internado because she’s really pretty, but err. Let’s just say she wasn’t the best actor back then ^^U. She’s improved a lot and I’m glad she’s making it in Hollywood and interactiong with all this Big Name Actors (she shared scenes with Jamie Lee Curtis and Michael Shannon!! I’m so happy for her *-*).
I loved her character, Marta, too. Her scene with Walt was one of my favourites, the twist... And the ending! I’m torn on what I’d want her to do lol. On the one hand, fuck them all, you know? On the other... she could lord this over all of them lol.
I have to say, Evans does a much better job playing an intentional asshole than an unintentional one lol. Seriously, he nailed it as Ransom. It’s been a while since I’ve wanted to punch a character so badly xD. The scene where they read the will and he starts to crack up, and later tells everyone off in the car, was A++
Daniel Craig’s character was really good too. I loved his method and his drive and his instincts, and his dramatism ofc xD (is it weird if I say that I ship him and Marta? Because I kinda do. I loved his outburst in her defense and how much he genuinely liked her. And how he called her his “Watson” lol. I enjoyed Marta/Ransom too... Marta had just great raport with everyone, tbh --I was not expecting to feel so touched by Marta & Harlan’s relationship, for example).
The mystery wasn’t much of a mystery to me, because I was... let’s say rooting? For a particular scenario, the entire time. And it panned out :P (and in a way that was basically WELL KARMA IS A BITCH. Cathartic af). But it was still really enjoyable to watch it all unfold. And I knew the film came in with social commentary and found it a lot more poignant that I expected, so kudos.
ETA: I’m so, so glad I never heard anyone call it “the next Clue” until now lol. I would’ve gone in with a much more skeptical attitude and might not have enjoyed it as much.

El Internado, finding a way to make epidemiology riveting.
Perhaps they should have put the makers in charge of COVID briefings, people would have definitely sat up and took notice!

Proof that Paula is the most precious thing to ever precious? She figures out her parents must be dead - because they would have contacted her otherwise - and she's incredibly sad... But she urges their guardian, Hector, not to tell Marcos they are dead but to instead let her brother continue to believe the gentle lie that their parents are on a secret island, in order to spare him pain. The kind lie they gave to a scared kid, well, that scared and sad kid is trying to wrap her brother in its warmth even as she decides to quietly, secretly bear her grief.
I die, I love her.

I was tagged by @Ifg1986. Thanks so much! This is sooo fun! 🥰
(Rule: Tag 9 people you’d like to get to know better!)
Top 3 ships: In chronological order from when I started shipping them, my fleet is:
1) LARRY STYLINSON - ummmm yeah I mean if you don't know what this is search it up because HOLY FUCK HOW COULD YOU NOT SHIP HARRY AND LOUIS ITS LIKE DAMN WHAT THE FUCK AND ITS SO AMAZING HOW THE FANDOM IS STILL GOING STRONG (TOXIC AF BUT STRONG)
2) MCLENNON - all right listen one second I was a Beatles fan and the next I'm falling into the hole that is the ship between Paul McCartney and John Lennon. This is a fun ship for me, believe it or not paul and John had a special bond and still do. Also THE ANGST IN THIS SHIP IS REAL AND RED HALL IS A FANFIC BDSM MASTERPIECE
3) CHARMIE - listen I didn't choose this ship. It chose me. You have no idea how much I fought this ship, tried not to actually ship armie and timmy but FUUUUUCK THE EYE SEX AND THE CHEMISTRY AND JUST EVEYTHING!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH-
Lipstick or Chapstick: Chapstick. My lips get very easily chapped and I used to lick them a lot when I was younger so i NEED CHAPSTICK.
Last song I listened to: como la flor by Selena (I'm listening to it while typing this)
Last film watched: ShawShank Redemption. I finished watching this like 30 minutes ago hahahaha it was sooooo good!
Currently reading: Dare you Lie... I actually lost interest in this book but it's some YA murder Mystery lol So today I started to read some book about Robert F. Kennedy which I find him more interesting than his older brother president JFK
What shows are you currently watching: ummm nothing as of late which I weird for me hahaha but I am thinking of rewatching 'El Internado' which is SO FUCKING GOOD
tagging: ummm i know its says tag 9 people but I'm only tagging three lol sorry im a rebel 😜 but I am MAJOR BLANKING OUT ON NAMES @visionsofcharmiee @raquelsantos92 @monicamelancolie

bubbagumps replied to your post: i’ve finished ana de armas’ filmography, i’ve...
Your dedication to watch her entire filmography is the dedication I aspire to have in life! Which was your favorite?
asdjash it’s more like restlessness. Blade Runner 2049 obviously :D idk if you care enough about it i just want to talk about it here are my short opinions on everything she’s done:
her Cuban projects (Una rosa de Francia, Madrigal, El edén perdido) are pretty much the same. she plays a young woman paired with a much older man and wants to leave the island. she also does nudity in all of these films which is suspicious. totally skippable
El Internado: worth a watch. if you’re into teen mystery shows and you like drama, you’re gonna love it. a guilty pleasure kind of show, but i like it guilt-free
Mentiras y gordas: ugh. idk i feel like this genre of ‘edgy youth’ european comedies and that’s one of them. 2/10
Hispania, la leyenda: Nerea is my girlfriend! she deserved better! basically Ana plays a spanish girl who gets captured by romans on her wedding day and is turned into a slave/praetor’s wife’s maiden, then she escapes and joins the fight against the roman empire. there were powerful moments like ‘i’d rather die a free woman than live like a slave’ and ‘if i can die for my country i can fight for it’. she basically starts a women warrior group but then they abandon the whole idea after 2 episodes. very soapy, and not that great. women are beautiful though
El callejón: actually fun? vampires. confined to just one location horror movie. 5-6/10
Faraday: Ana has a veeeeery small cameo. the movie starts promising with a scream 4 quote as its epigraph (which is you know a Choice) but it’s all downhill from there. kinda embarrassing really. don’t watch it.
Por un puñado de besos: solid romantic comedy only not really a comedy. interesting premise, and it kinda delivers on it. WATCH IT!
Knock Knock: Keanu Reeves’ monologue is peak Writing. could be better, i don’t hate it as much as critics do. Ana is cute
Anabel: ????????? what the fuck? creepy in a not good way. post-modern architecture. really weird. probably way ahead of its time or it somehow seeped through from an alternate reality
Exposed skip that Daughter of God: actually pretty good. 2 or 3 plot twists depending on what you consider a twist. a think piece. quite interesting themes. recommend it
Hands of Stone: quite disjointed at places and not very original, but fine overall
War Dogs: sure why not? it’s fun. Ana doesn’t do much bu you know whatever
Overdrive: OMG pre-pubescent boy’s wet dream. wishes it were the fast and the furious. not good. really shitty. ANA IS BEAUTIFUL THOUGH AND I’M GONNA REWATCH IT
BLADE RUNNER 2049: HELLO HAVE YOU SEEN MY BLOG??????
Corazón: one of my faves actually. i know the whole short film is basically an ad for montefiore hospitals or whatever but it’s good. Ana acts her heart (get it?) out. a simple story is elevated by Bradford Young’s cinematography. really recommend it.
Anima, Y de postre, qué, Perrito chino: are short films, sure......... not life-transforming but not awful either
Music videos: sure they’re 3 minutes long who cares
