I thought I should just let you know, I was at a bar with my dad in [redacted city] today and there was a sticker on the wall that said Reverse Mermaid, captioning a picture of exactly that. And then on the walk back to the car we passed a small knit-wear and needlepoint art boutique and it was called Magpie. Two references to two different really good book series in one night! I wonder what it means (probably nothing except that I have a really sharp eye for things that remind me of other things).

do you have a completely out there theory or headcanon about silverborn. just for fun
Hmm. Not sure, because at this point everything feels out there lol. Yesterday I was theorizing that the surname in the [redacted] snippet could be "Swan," and that could be Mog's mom's maiden name. That might be the latest craziest theory. The latest more serious (but still out there at this point) Silverborn theory might be the most recent edition to my masterpost, where I mention that "silverborn" could be another term for "born on Eventide," perhaps in connection with the Celestials. It also maybe could refer to being born in the Silver District, born in the Republic..... idk. I'm probably being too literal and in a year we'll find out the actual term means something totally unexpected, lol.
Some other random theories / headcanons about the series:
Squall is from ye olde Jackalfax
Hawthorne will lose a limb and Jupiter will lose his knack
The Weaving and Ruination Divinities are met together, with one unweaving what the other one is weaving
Regarding Arts and Sub-Arts, plus the theories of Knacks being derived from Arts: Murgatroyd breathes ice. Inferno is heavily associated with breathing. What if ice powers are like….. a total negative / reverse of Inferno ?
Mildmay and Ravi were like one Unit apart. Did they know eachother? How did people who grew up knowing Mildmay react to his betrayal, what are their perspectives, etc? And is this a new shi-- [is knocked out and dragged away before I can finish]
And if you want a silly headcanon: some characters have glasses to me and I literally can't imagine them without them. Lam has large round fake ones, Holliday has a collection of stylish cat-eye frames, and Rook has a pair of somewhat fancy, yet antiquated-looking half-moon glasses, where she can peer intimidatingly over them (this is just her normal expression, but it spooks some of the Basement Nerds all the same). I don't think that the Scholar Mistresses change clothes at all, but as much as I love canon, I eagerly ignore that bit <3

One thang led to another and before you know it, @boflicker and I went from brainworming to actualising that into a fic, Irredeemable. I've done a fair few art collabs, but this one is extra special to me; not only is Bo an excellent writer, but a stellar collaborater, and we are very often haunted by this story and it's characters while they're out there in the big wild kicking ass and taking names (love you BoBo) :3

1. This is from my novella Carpe Vinum Motion Picture! (?? working title) which is set a few years after Cotton Mendings (the plot is just Oscar being a menace to society). Adonis isn't even a Cotton Mendings character, he's from TTaSS (me and @writing-is-a-martial-art's WIP), so I might not keep this scene idk.
Oscar could confuse him for Percy if he tried. Adonis had large blue eyes and thick black hair similar to Oscar's, but he had seen this quartz rose-petal softness before. The room draped over his body like brushstrokes he had long ago memorized: frail floral curtains, garden-shaped chandelier, amphora vases holding clusters of pale roses. Myth boy, sculpting a museum around his skin. Fragile, tragic. Beautiful, mostly.
2. Same WIP. Tw for mention of injuries/implied physical violence ??
"That does not matter at all right now," he said. Not the chill in his words when he spoke with [REDACTED]. Just a knot in his brow. "Are you alright? If they've hurt you in any way…"
What? What then? What would he do, Salvatore, martyr in reverse, Joan of Arc inverted? Sit around, smoke his cigarettes. Say something cruel. Eat God over dinner with a socialite named something like Clementine, Natalya.
"I think I'm alright," said Percy. Nevermind the red skin around his wrists, nevermind the bruise on his stomach, the bruise on his cheek.
3. Carpe Vinum again. Tw for mention of alcohol.
He could steal someone's wine collection. Drink it in a graveyard, lose track of himself, wake up sitting in the Seine. Let it gurgle around his empty body, let it arrogate him, water guts seeping into human guts: in the end, a glass and mineral statue, glowing, glowing. From the bridge, someone would stare and fall in love. Kiss his petrified lips.

💭: What was the original concept for your OC? Has it changed at all since then?
Étoile hasn't changed very much from inception to now, in the sense that they're still a nonbinary elf who is the child of a skyrim oc, a paladin who wants to do good in the world. I've made a few comments about how they become an oathbreaker and how if they were in a tabletop game they'd fall from Neutral Good to Neutral Evil, but I don't see that as changing so much facing the consequences of their actions, perspective and how highly they value self-preservation and the protection of their values and loved ones.
🔮: If they were to feature in the art of a tarot card, which one would it be and why?
Picking the Four of Swords:
Upright: rest, relaxation, peace, sanctuary, recuperation, self-protection, rejuvenation.
The Four of Swords indicates it is time to gather new strength and prepare to face a new challenge. You have faced crisis after crisis, and it is wearing you out. You can face a new challenge only after getting away from everything and embracing a new atmosphere. The single sword at the knight's side indicates a singularity of purpose and a great focus in life.
Reversed: wise administration, circumspection, economy, avarice, precaution, testament.
This card can mean getting in touch with your purpose in life.
Étoile is not given rest throughout the events of b/g3, nor in post-canon (very likely). They seek to do good, but don't always have the fortitude to take the most virtuous path in life. They need that time to rest and reflect and gather strength and meditate on their broken paladin oath and who they seek to protect and why; whether it's only themself, ultimately.
😬: Did they ever make a major decision in their past that they regret? How are they handling it now?
They definitely make a huge one during the events of b/g3 but that's a spoiler. Pre-canon? Not really. I think they felt largely in control of their life, and at the mercy of circumstance and bad luck previously. They were young (for an elf), and then the Fates said, "Take some responsibility," and ... they stumbled.
💍: Among their current companions, are there any that are narrative foils to your OC? How so?
Maybe Shadowheart. They're both kind of going through the same thing, but while Shadowheart is rediscovering herself and finding new purpose in her [redacted], Étoile is losing themself and losing their faith in there being purpose and balance in people and the planes.
