the thing about the fall is that literally he was in a doomed narrative of his own making and this random little girl loved him so much she reached right in and plucked him out of his story. he was on a road doomed to die. he was walking out of life with his eyes open and his fingers crossed and she looked at him and said show me your hands! he has a daughter!! she loves him!!! let him live. promise? and it works. she can see stars when she rubs her eyes and it's her story, too.

Quote from I Saw Ramallah by Mourid Barghouti
I came across a tweet by prominent Palestinian professor Refaat Alareer quoting the above and relating it to how there is no such thing as "Israeli left"
The tweet was made by Refaat mere weeks before he was killed by an Israeli air strike on his home along with members of his family.
Meanwhile, the "Israeli left" has been running around frantically trying to assure us that they hate this "war" as much as we do and that they have been "protesting their government" every week.
What they're not saying though is that this "discomfort" they feel towards their government's actions and this supposed "opposition" to it has never been about Palestinian lives and will never be.
All of their ~leftist, progressive~ pretence is not about ending the occupation and genocide, it is, however, all about making occupation and genocide more palatable so they can go to their retreats on stolen land and not feel ~that bad~ about it.

The practice of giving sedatives to people detained by police has spread quietly across the nation over the last 15 years, built on questionable science and backed by police-aligned experts, an investigation led by The Associated Press has found. Based on thousands of pages of law enforcement and medical records and videos of dozens of incidents, the investigation shows how a strategy intended to reduce violence and save lives has resulted in some avoidable deaths.
At least 94 people died after they were given sedatives and restrained by police from 2012 through 2021, according to findings by the AP in collaboration with FRONTLINE (PBS) and the Howard Centers for Investigative Journalism. That’s nearly 10% of the more than 1,000 deaths identified during the investigation of people subdued by police in ways that are not supposed to be fatal. About half of the 94 who died were Black, including Jackson.

Another thing is that when this aggression started, we were so worried about winter and how displaced people in tents will survive it. Earlier this week the temperature in Gaza hit 38 degrees (100 Fahrenheit) and we are now wondering how will displaced people survive the heat in those tents.

Watch this short report to get a glimpse of what Israel has been subjecting Palestinians it has taken captive since October 7, whose numbers have now surpassed 8,400 from the West Bank alone.
The conditions in Israeli prisons have intensified and men, women, children and elderly people are subjected to starvation and torture. 14 Palestinian captives have in fact died in Israeli prisons since October 7, which is an alarming and unprecedented escalation to the already dire humanitarian crisis taking place in Israeli torture chambers.
The family of the 74 year old man in the video, Omar Assaf, did not even recognise him. He describes the past 6 months feeling as though they were 6 years.

"Thank you. Thanks for each one of you, because you've made us, me and my people, feel that we're free, we're heard, and we're going back to our homes and land."
"I've spent the whole night thinking about every video I see- you're shouting for Palestine, you are protesting for Palestine, you are dancing, singing for Palestine. I feel it here, in my head. I'm going back, and I'm free. And one day we will celebrate it in real, in Gaza, together."
"Keep going. And we will too."

This is Heba, she's a sweet lady who's really suffering right now. Her and her family are trapped in Rafah. Their recent attempt to return to northern Gaza didn't go so well.
She tells me she's sick and tired and that Rafah is currently infested with mosquitoes and they're all scared of the coming israeli ground offensive so please donate to help them get their whole family out 🙏 and share please.
