Sam / Darlin Headcanons

[In no particular order]

✩ Sam has stretch marks on his hips and across his back from growing so fast after leaving Mont Blanc

✩ Darlin has a high pain tolerance so they literally don’t realize when they’re seriously injured sometimes

✩ Sam has a lot of faded scars on his hands

✩ Sam is the oldest brother, Darlin is a middle child - they both had to leave their younger siblings behind and still feel bad about it

✩ The younger pack members think Sam is the absolute coolest even though they don’t get to see him very often

✩ Sam still has David’s name saved as Mr. Shaw in his phone

✩ Since Sam convinced Darlin to start eating actual food they are BUILT - their muscles aren’t super lean and defined anymore, but they’re noticeably stronger

✩ Occasionally when they’re stressed Darlin will shift and lay directly on top of Sam like a wolf-shaped weighted blanket

✩ Sam hates the question “are you a tea or coffee person?” because people rarely accept his answer of “both”

✩ Darlin was very uneasy about any kind of physical touch after Quinn, especially skin-to-skin, so they almost exclusively wore clothes that covered their entire body for about a year - they feel safe enough to wear tank tops and shorts now

✩ Darlin likes holding both sides of Sam’s face when they kiss

✩ Sam pretends to be more oblivious to modern media than he really is

✩ Before turning, Sam needed glasses - for a while afterwards he would still wear them out of habit

✩When shifted, Darlin is one of the biggest wolves in the pack

✩ When he was younger, Sam used to fight in shady arenas for some quick cash

✩ Darlin knows how to play bass

✩ Sam shaved his head after leaving Mont Blanc and after turning as his way of “starting his new life” - he keeps it fairly long now but makes an effort to keep it trimmed and maintained

Redacted Kisses pt 1

Where the characters and their listener's prefer to give them.

Vincent: Neck

He's already stated before that it's a "Vincent thing." He's a dork about it sometimes. But during the times he's feeling apologetic for things having gotten out of his control, he'll press a kiss to the back of their neck or shoulder while he holds them.

Lovely: Forehead

Lovely still wakes up before Vincent. Having not completely adjusted to vampire life. A forhead kiss before he wakes up is now a daily routine. Lovely also gives them when trying to cheer him up while cupping either side of his face.

Sam: Back of the Hand

Regardless of the position they're cuddled into, Sam will find a way to kiss their hand. Most often as a comfort. Letting Darlin' know that scars or not, he loves every bit of them. Knuckles are also a thing but more so after Same has healed them .

Darlin: Palms

Sam got those blessed hands all around besides playing video games. Darlin' may still have trouble verbalizing everything in that moment and will opt to kiss the palms that have done so much for them. Often enough, it happens when hes already cupping their cheekgiving a complement or reinsurance.

Porter: Fingers

As if kissing the king's ring, Porter will hold treasure by the fingertips and kiss just at the base of their fingers. As rough as he likes to play, these moments are soft and slow. Making it clear that he is growing to care for them dearly. (I'll be surprised if Treasure doesn't become some version of a princess princess sometimes by the end of this.)

Treasure: Chest

This all started after Porter visited, and they requested to be held to get to sleep. It hadn't clicked before that vampires had a beating heart till then. It's interesting to them. The newfound freedom and joy they felt are now shown appreciation of via kiss. A kiss right over his beating heart. Porter doesn't get why they do this, and he's not ready to ask.

I know that everyone thinks that Darlin not talking to William with Sam is because they would deck the old man on sight, but I think that this was actually the moment they realised that they don't want to be a vampire.

Because they look around the Solaire Clan and don't see the close knit family of the Shaw Pack. They see a lonely old man with far too much power and far too grand ambitions. They see people bound together by barely unconditional kindness and the shared experiencence of having your life ruined by a vampire. They see everything they do subdued and layered behind bullshit politics. They don't see a family, but a company.

A world that wouldn't want to live in, with or without Sam.

They don't want to be a vampire.
