This entity's name is Reproach and he's from the same dimension as Corner. It's called the Room and it's like an endless multi-story maze that was created by another powerful cosmic entity named Varr.

The Varr does not interact with Non-Earth, but essentially exists within its universe.

Like all of the Room's creatures, Reproach feeds on the energy it receives from Varr's emotions. Mostly shame and grief. The Room most likely exists as a whole to balance him out. There is no way out of the Room, but its inhabitants seek it, most likely even unconsciously. And this very search leads the creatures to clash with each other and to confrontation.

Corner, on the other hand, only fell out of the room because of the Shift. And since his "reality" coincided with Morphus' level of existence, he now travels through other people's dreams and terrorizes all dreamers by partially transforming their dreams into a shattered semblance of the Room.

Also, the inhabitants of the Room don't need to eat. Because they depend entirely on the emotions that Varr feels. But Corner, who has literally fallen out of his natural environment, must now, through his own efforts, achieve terror from those into whose dreams he is sneaking. Otherwise he will starve to death.

And Corner wasn't a strong entity of the Room anyway, because Varr is a majestic deity who doesn't feel the fear that the triangle feeds on.

The entities of the Room also exist in such an environment that they often don't have a wide range of emotions and their character is sometimes horribly primitive. That is, the same Reproach constantly feels only shame and grief because he doesn't know or can't do anything else.

Corner, in this respect, has the opportunity to develop some other traits because he no longer exists in that "vacuum"

ok here's the thing when people talk about fandom genocide apologia. do we think that people who call for the eradication of a fictional culture actually for-real wish death upon us & those who practice a similar culture? no of course not, everyone knows that killing people in real life is bad

however, do we think that they are the kind of people who complain that [x] culture isn't western enough or doesn't fit their personal experience enough and is inherently inferior/oppressive/etc, a sentiment we do see quite often in real life? yes, and in that sense people's fictional opinions can mirror their real life ones. especially if someone proposes 'outlawing a culture until it is forgotten' as the 'good' alternative to physically killing all the members of that culture, apparently without the single whit of self-awareness that that is exactly what happened in several real-life genocides

Oh, if we’re talking about subtle hilarious SHOH moments… I always laugh at the scene during the briefing for Lockwood when Chase, Tallys, and MC are clowning Lavinet for sending such a huge cheque in the mail like “she’s SO naive lol we can cash this and she wouldn’t even be able to dispute it for weeks teeheee” and Shery is just like “…..is it naive for her to trust OFFICERS OF THE LAW not to swindle her??” and everyone just goes dead quiet.

Lol, I'd forgotten about that moment, thanks for remembering it for us! 😂😂 Sometimes the Shepherds are so chaotic that Shery--when she can forge past the excruciating experience of Being Seen--is the necessary moral compass that keeps them in check... the only one who can shame them...
