- How to wear clothes that are not 100% your style anymore - Only a few months ago, I would have said: declutter anything that is not 100% matching your current signature style. It is easier to throw away, donate or sell items that are not reflecting who we are right now. The reality though, is that once we get rid of said items, no matter how sustainably, we tend to replace them for something else. In order to avoid constant consumption, I decided to restyle old pieces of clothing (still in excellent condition) in a way that is closer to my current taste. I bought those two @ralphlauren knots ages ago and they are still perfect (they are indeed amazing quality) so I am now wearing them in a simple, relaxed way with my fav washed jeans and trainers. I usually list pros and cons of certain items before discarding them. Pro: - neutral colours - casual style - great natural knit (100%cotton) - perfect conditions Cons: - they have a small logo on the chest (so I can’t wear them to work) - they are a feminine preppy style that doesn’t represent me anymore. I opted to wear them only during the weekend and in a very relaxed way that will work with my current lifestyle. Accessories are super helpful to change the vibe of the look: gold plated jewellery, a vintage rattan bag, sunnies and white trainers help to make the outfit more suitable. How to make your own cleaning solutions and cut down on unnecessary plastic packaging:👇 (Recipes by @zero.waste.collective) 1) All-Purpose Cleaner Equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle with 15-20 drops of essential oil. Perfect for most surfaces in your home! Do not use on marble or granite . 2) Label-Glue Remover Equal parts baking soda and olive oil. Mix into a paste and let sit for a few hours before wiping off. . 3) Stainless Steel Cleaner Dab some olive oil onto a cloth, and wipe the smudges. Use the clean part of your cloth and dampen with vinegar and wipe over the same spots until clean! . 4) Mold Cleaner Mix a paste of water and baking soda. Apply to surface and let sit for a few minutes. Clean with a scrubber or old toothbrush. Great for cleaning grout & sink drains! . 5) Glass and Window Cleaner Equal parts vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Did you know you can prevent early sprouting in potatoes by storing your potatoes with an apple? 🥔🍎🥔 . Apples produce ethylene gas, and ethylene gas keeps potatoes fresher and firmer! . To make your potatoes last as long as possible, store them in a dark, cool room, and away from onions! A good place is in a garage, cellar, or pantry 👍 . Lists like these I find are great if you have a way to filter microplastics out of your laundry with something like  guppy bag. I also use it when I’m looking for a new clothing item. Being able to pick natural fibers over synthetics is preferable when there's the option. Even when clothes aren’t in the wash they release micro plastics as you wear them. When looking for new items I try to look for  more natural fibers. This also holds over for other items where textiles are part of their construction. If you aren’t overly familiar with different types of fabrics hopefully this will be useful in making decisions on how to be more responsible for your textile waste!
