here’s Doc as a Warlock for week 1 of @shepscapades character design challenge.
he’s a 20th level Teifling Warlock.
Great Old One Patron, Pact of the Tome.

I get that people might’ve expected artificer or something, but considering his dedication to breaking the laws of reality with aid from outside the “universe” of hermitcraft, i felt that warlock fit him much better.
my thought is that his patron is "The Hivemind", which is kind of a crowd-sourced patron. it’s made up of an interdimensional group of Warlocks who are all simultaneously warlock & patron. they killed a god and divided its power, connecting them & allowing them to pool knowedge and power across the multiverse.
