Reclaimed Roots, A Legacy Challenge.
One fateful day, as you flip the pages in the local newspaper, your eyes fall upon an advertisement for an affordable farm on the outskirts of town. This farm had fallen into disrepair, abandoned and forgotten by its previous owners, who had inherited the farm but chose to not take care of it. Despite its rundown state, a flicker of hope ignited within your heart. Your dream of owning a small farm to raise your future family may become a reality!
You call the owner’s of the property and they start asking for more money. This went from being an affordable farm to a pricey one! You decide to take a leap of faith and go for it. Packing your belongings immediately and setting out for the neglected farms of your dream. When you arrive, you see just how neglected the farm truly is. You find a weathered farmhouse, its paint peeling and windows cracked, surrounded by overgrown fields and rotten fences. But you see beauty hidden underneath it all.
You see a vision of what this farm could be. A fresh coat of paint, rescued animals, beautiful old oak trees flourishing, children riding their bikes and fishing in the pound. This is where you want your new life you begin.

Reclaimed Roots: Legacy Challenge
Hi! It's been a hot minute (more like years) since I've committed myself to a challenge but @faestelle's sim Kali inspired me to try out this cool challenge I found by @simsyworld. (I only changed some of their outfits as I try to play with the least amount of clothing CC in my game, but everything else is the same.)
Kali is an aspiring farmer who found this fixer upper farm in Henford-on-Bagley and spent their life savings on it to live out their dream life on the country side. They are a very athletic and energetic sim and very excited to rescue as many farm animals as they can. They love spending time in nature. Although the situation of the "fixer-upper" was quite daunting, Kali was more than ready to rise to the challenge.

"Protect the Sacred's first complete playtest is here! Protect the Sacred is a anticolonial pulp adventure game that looks to emulate the mood and tone of the pulp movement beyond just as the globe-trekking adventure of stories like Indiana Jones, Johnny Quest, and Tomb Raider, but also pulp as horror, mystery, sci-fi, drama, and even romance.
In Protect The Sacred you work as a member of The Memento Group, an organization that, nominally, is an international nonprofit who is mostly interested in historical preservation, cultural outreach, and the building and support of museums and landmarks. As well as deconstructing and interrogating the colonial legacies of various academias and how they continue into today.
In truth, while they do that work and more, they are also a community-facing resource of specialists who look to protect, preserve, and reclaim a world of magic, monsters, and mystical artifacts on behalf of who they belong to and on that community's terms. Because for the Players of Protect The Sacred, all the intangibles of culture are all so very tangible.
Play as adventurers armed with folkloric magic power, deeply rooted in their connections to the culture around them. From wielding a legendary magical item, to practicing a cultrual magic, to taking the form of the fiercest monsters from your people's stories.
Explore the mythic realms talked about in the legends of heroes and gods as part of the Grand Outside, a magical otherworld in a mutually affecting relationship with the material. Explore a secret wizards nightmarket for clues and rumors on a trail for a stolen remains. Brave impossible and strange dungeons formed by stories that need to be told and stare truth straight in the eyes. Plan a heist to steal back the pilfered and stolen.
In this game I look to ask people to consider themselves, their relationship to culture, and what it looks like. I want you to consider and think on the meaning and value of the stories, lessons, and skills we pass on to others. I want to ask how we could challenge the ways we build and engage with history and these stories. This is a game where you fist fight fascism in many forms. It's a game about telling stories and building heroes. Are you ready to Protect the Sacred?" --- Information about joining the playtest can be found in the link! I'm excited to show y'all what I've been working on for about 2 and a half years.

Embracing African Heritage: The Significance of Shrines and Religion
Tumblr media
Africa, often referred to as the cradle of humanity, boasts a rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, and spiritual beliefs that have endured for millennia. Central to this heritage are the sacred shrines and profound religious practices that serve as pillars of community, identity, and connection to the divine.
Shrines, both natural and constructed, hold a special place in African spirituality. These sites are often nestled in the heart of communities or hidden within the vast landscapes of the continent. From the iconic pyramids of Egypt to the humble groves of the Yoruba in Nigeria, each shrine reflects a unique blend of history, mythology, and reverence for the ancestors.
One of the fundamental aspects of African religion is the veneration of ancestors. Ancestral shrines serve as focal points for prayers, offerings, and rituals aimed at honoring those who came before. These ancestors are believed to possess wisdom, guidance, and protection, and their spirits are invoked for blessings and assistance in times of need. In many African societies, the bond between the living and the dead is deeply cherished, with rituals and ceremonies reinforcing the interconnectedness of past, present, and future generations.
Moreover, African shrines are often associated with specific deities or spirits, each embodying different aspects of the natural world or human experience. Whether it's Oshun, the Yoruba goddess of love and fertility, or Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of the afterlife, these divine entities are revered through elaborate ceremonies, dances, and sacrifices. Through these rituals, devotees seek communion with the divine and seek guidance in matters of health, prosperity, and spiritual growth.
Tumblr media
However, the significance of African shrines extends beyond the realm of spirituality. They are also repositories of cultural knowledge, oral traditions, and historical narratives passed down through generations. Within the sacred precincts of these sites, elders impart wisdom, storytellers weave tales of heroism and creation, and artists imbue their craft with symbols and motifs that speak to the essence of African identity.
Unfortunately, the colonial era and the spread of Christianity and Islam have often marginalized indigenous African religions, dismissing them as primitive or pagan. Despite this, many communities continue to uphold their traditional beliefs, adapting them to the challenges of modernity while preserving their core values and rituals. In recent years, there has been a renewed interest in African spirituality, fueled by a desire to reclaim cultural heritage and reconnect with ancestral roots.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, African shrines and religion embody the resilience, diversity, and spirituality of the continent's people. They are more than just places of worship; they are living testaments to the enduring legacy of Africa's past and the enduring power of its traditions. As we navigate an increasingly interconnected world, embracing and honoring Africa's rich heritage is not only a matter of cultural preservation but also a celebration of the human spirit's boundless capacity for faith, creativity, and reverence for the divine.

Poem request just for Ominis? No MC, no other characters, just him? Idlove something melancholy.
A burden rests upon a soul wrought and weary, the weight of history bearing down. Endured in quiet agony, a profound legacy is left behind, and my hands are pried open to reclaim.
The significance of it all…
It is where webbed truths remain veiled in shadows, catching stray hopes, preying on promises.
And with the familial bond bared, I am an oversight, deemed over sight, haze so profound, so permanent.
This reality is rooted firmly in tragedy and all that it has toiled.
Thoughts dwell in the depths, where whispers long to linger, embracing my deepest fears with a tender touch that unveils vulnerability amidst villains.
Dark inheritance mars the days past and present, with future on the cusp;
I grapple with the foreshadowing, the black clouds, the miasma that threatens to engulf, encroaching.
But it is overcast; caught in limbo of what was, what is, what could be. Freedom eludes me. Liberation, lies. Escape, forbids.
These shadows entwine, tendrils delicately woven through my veins.
A stagnant inheritance of sorrow. Gold with the tarnish of ash. A kingdom’s throne of thorns.
Enveloped in contemplation, I delve to uncharted territories of my being.
These lungs crave a mere respite of radiance, capable of piercing the unwavering void.
And in isolation, a fragile flicker moves within, celebrating defiance of the oppressive darkness.
To escape this prison constructed by kin, to let my blood, to wash it clean, such filth in purity;
The irony is not lost on me. I beg, sanctuary. I remain, all-seeing.
I have seen… enough.

In the shadows of ancient civilizations, our ancestors left behind not just artifacts, but a trail of knowledge, wisdom, and identity. From towering pyramids to intricate writings on the walls, they etched their story into the fabric of time.
As we stand on the threshold of today, we have the privilege to unearth these treasures, to reconnect with OURStory, our truth, and our culture. Let's honor their legacy by reclaiming the narratives that weave through generations.
These echoes from the past remind us that we're not alone in this journey. They guide us to rediscover our roots, embrace our heritage, and empower our future. Let's walk this path of reclamation with reverence, unity, and the understanding that our strength lies in the legacy that's been passed down.

Origins of Healing Justice - Conjuring the Roots of Healing Justice
The legacies of settler colonial dispossession from land, slavery, and colonization led assimilation makes it difficult to follow our lineages and learn about our inherited cultural ceremonies, knowledge, and resistance practices. Healing justice is conjured into our world through reconnection with our individual lineages to inform how our individual practices can help us heal or transmute intergenerational trauma into fuel to keep our movements strong and resilient. Healing intergenerational trauma and the unique traumas of our intersections of oppression require cultural techniques to fulfill the soul memory of our traditions that were passed down for generations. A quote from Mya Hunter of SpiritHouse NC states, “The theory of change for us is around Culture, Practice, and Ritual, and we call it ‘CPR’. And so everything has to be based in your personal culture,” pg 130. Part of my healing and reconnection journey has been reading The Curanderx Toolkit: Reclaiming Ancestral Latinx Plant Medicine and Rituals for Healing by Atava Garcia Swiecicki and other books about Curanderismo to inform my individual practice. I have been combining the knowledge I was able to pick up from my great grandmother who was a Curandera before dementia took over and she passed away, and the things I’ve learned in alignment with my core through exploration of related books. The Curanderx Toolkit is a very queer-inclusive and gentle approach to our traditions that acknowledges the roots of our practices that came from Indigenous, African, and Catholic traditions.

Portraits Of Royalty, Embracing Heritage
In the mosaic of history, the narrative of African Americans intertwines with a legacy etched across millennia. A legacy that transcends the bounds of slavery, stretching back to the illustrious epochs of ancient African civilizations like Ethiopia and Egypt. To fathom the true essence of African American identity, one must peer beyond the shores of America, delving into the awe-inspiring accomplishments and prodigious civilizations that illuminated the African continent eons before the tumultuous saga of slavery.
In the annals of time, Ethiopia stands as an emblem of grandeur, a kingdom that heralded ancient wisdom and spiritual magnificence. Its sacred city of Lalibela, adorned with monolithic churches carved from solid rock, whispers tales of devotion and architectural brilliance. The Axumite Empire, with its towering obelisks and intricate civilization, was a beacon of cultural and economic prowess, leaving an indelible mark on the fabric of history.
Egypt, known to the world as the land of the pharaohs or Khemet, which translates to the land of the blacks in its ancient origins, stands as an eternal testament to human achievement. While the name "Egypt" was bestowed upon the land by the Greeks, its indigenous moniker, Khemet, reflects a deeper connection to its African roots. The majestic pyramids of Giza, steeped in mystique and enigma, symbolize a civilization unrivaled in its advancements. Nurtured by the fertile bounty of the Nile Valley, Khemet fostered a society that mastered the arts, sciences, and governance, bequeathing an enduring legacy in architecture, medicine, and philosophy to the world.
The significance of embracing this ancient African heritage reverberates profoundly within the heart of the African American community. To acknowledge the triumphs and splendor of these ancient civilizations is to reclaim a narrative steeped in greatness, resilience, and cultural profundity—a narrative that predates the chapters of anguish and unprecedented inhuman cruelty endured on American soil.

honestly, i think that it’s incredibly wise of DA4 to pit this as a clash between Solas and Varric because they are perhaps the most opposite characters in terms of motivations, values and desires.
Solas is stuck in the past. He wants a return to order, a recognition of the way things were. He believes in absolute truth and scorns change, prefers to live in a dream that offers the comforts of the past than to recognise how the world around him is shifting. The Lavellan romance I feel highlights this most of all -- he tells her that the markings on her face aren’t testaments to the gods, but brands of slavery that had been reclaimed by elven people. To him, it does not matter that culture has shifted or changed, because he’s single-mindedly obsessed with what was. Stifling himself to any growth.
Varric is focused on the future. He sees the way that things shift and hates being constricted or chained down to the past (which is ironic because he is haunted by it, and lets himself be haunted by it). Dwarven pride, Orzimar, legacy, these things mean nothing to him because looking back prevents him from seeing what could be, what can be. The past? What is that but a story to be rewritten, or a setting for something greater? He pushes those around him not to think about what was, but what can be ahead of them.
Tumblr media
To Solas, fighting back against the encroaching dark is remembering your roots and retreating to them. To Varric, fighting back is pushing forward and finding a way to keep growing.
I feel like this schism between their worldviews is best shown in Cole’s storyline, the fight between the two halves of himself. Solas is at home among the fade, with the spirits, yes. But that’s not why he insists that Cole release his humanity -- it’s because to him, a spirit is what Cole is and all that he should be. Humanity is not his point of origin, and to strive towards it is to give up. Whereas Varric encourages Cole to embrace his humanity, because he sees the joy it brings to him. The growth and change, the potential for creating his own path outside of what is expected of him or what he’s considered capable of.
In a way, Varric really is Solas’ greatest enemy, as storytellers have always been the Dread Wolf’s greatest enemy. Solas sees himself as the hero of his own story, the one who will bring peace and order to the world by restoring it to the state he remembers. But Varric has the power to paint him as a villain and turn the world against him.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY - March 8, 2024
In the dappled light of history, female witches have always danced at the edges of society’s understanding, embodying a force that is both fearsome and revered. On International Women's Day, we celebrate the indomitable spirit of women through the ages, including those who have been labeled as witches. These individuals, often at the forefront of societal scorn or reverence, encapsulate the essence of feminine power, resilience, and the enduring fight for autonomy and respect. The figure of the witch has been, in many ways, a mirror reflecting society's fears and fascinations with women who defy conventional norms. Historically, women who possessed herbal knowledge, who lived alone, who defied the gender expectations of their time, or simply who were misunderstood, might find themselves accused of witchcraft. Yet, within these accusations, there lies a recognition of strength, of a profound connection to the natural world, and of the courage to stand apart from societal norms. International Women's Day serves as a poignant reminder to revisit and honor these women of the past. But it’s also a moment to celebrate the 'witches' among us today—the healers, the midwives, the rebels, and the outspoken advocates of women's rights. It's a day to acknowledge the women who harness their knowledge, intuition, and power to enact change, protect the vulnerable, and nurture their communities. The archetype of the witch transcends the caricature of a broomstick and cauldron, revealing a deeply rooted symbol of female empowerment. Witches have been, and continue to be, the wise women among us: the herbalists who know the healing secrets of plants, the intuitive guides who help us navigate life’s mysteries, and the fierce protectors of their homes and loved ones. They embody the connection with the earth and its cycles, echo the voices of ancestors, and channel the strength to transform and to heal. In reclaiming the narrative of the witch, we uncover a celebration of female wisdom, autonomy, and resilience. We recognize the historical persecution of women deemed too independent or too powerful, and we draw strength from their stories. Their legacy teaches us about resistance, about the power of our voices, and about the deep well of strength that resides in women who dare to be different. As we observe International Women's Day, let us honor the witches of yesteryears and today—not just as symbols of otherworldly power, but as icons of the enduring fight for gender equality, freedom, and respect. Let us remember that the 'witch' in every woman is the voice that refuses to be silenced, the heart that loves fiercely, and the spirit that never stops seeking justice. In celebrating female witches, we celebrate the myriad ways in which women across the globe and through the ages have shaped, and continue to shape, our world. With their wisdom, resilience, and power, they teach us that the magic we seek is within our grasp—and it is this realization that truly makes the world change.

Scooter Legacy 2020 - generations 1-9
ya know, I was gonna make individual posts about the old generations of this save, since they're coming here from their old home on dreamwidth, but I'm really lazy so we'll just go with the one. a primer post. why not.
for a bit of background, I started this save in the middle of the start of the pandemic, right after completing another legacy, and I blasted through this thing in like, 2 years? I had never felt so fuckin productive. let’s ignore the fact that stopped playing for 1.25 years after generation 8 though. okay.
to the shock of nobody, each colour-coded generation had some story that eventually just devolved into pure gameplay. listen when i tell you i'm a one trick fuckin pony, i mean it. here's what happened:
Generation 1: Percy Scooter and Sebastian Park. my founders. Percy was the sheltered only child of a rich old Chinese woman who hired Sebastian to be her butler and personal service worker. awkward enemies to lovers plot ensues. they had 2 kids: Ollie (who died as a child) and Josie.
fun fact: I was looking at my timeline and it makes perfect sense that Percy's mother, Francie Chen, would've been the younger sister of Chen Ruiyang (Lucky Legacy). they even had the same last name. so I made that canon. duh.
Generation 2: Josie Scooter and Matangi Silva. childhood friends. Mat left town to become a vet, and Josie tracked him down to continue their fledgling romance they had as teenagers. they also had a fuck ton of animals, one of which was the iconic Mayor Whiskers. they had 1 kid: Randy.
Generation 3: Randy Scooter and Collin Pix. Randy, Collin and Ripp Grunt from TS2 were roommates at a college that psychologically broke down students before selling them to aliens for Nefarious purposes. it was kind of a lot. they ran away to Sulani and had 3 kids: Willow, Xander and Landon.
Generation 4: Landon Scooter and Toro Katalunan. childhood friends that reunited as adults that tackled off the grid living together. their friendship and eventual romance persisted through awkward misunderstandings and island ghosts. they had two children: Kai and Sully.
Generation 5: Sully Scooter and Ori Delgado. Ori guided Sully through the jungle in the search of a cure for the genetic condition they were born with (I also brought this up during my flop reclaimed roots legacy). kissing ensued. they had three children: Luca, Brianna, and Damián.
side note: I also started a side story about the Strangerville mystery that coincides with this generation. this family went on to spawn Dakota Dinh, co-founder of the Lucky Legacy. it's all circular y'know?
Generation 6: Damián Scooter and Hari Rotan. I fucking hated this generation because it was Eco Lifestyle. I don't remember the story and I don't want to. they had two kids: Laila and Yasmin.
Generation 7: Laila Scooter and Kawahara Koichi. Laila, a giant fucking twat, goes to university and makes enemies with everyone except the anti-social weirdo that loves robotics. then they terrorised Evergreen Harbour together. they had one child: Xavier, who they sorta neglected ngl lmfao
Generation 8: Xavier Scooter and Fayrouz al-Dimashqi. my FAVOURITE! generation. Xavier, a traumatised individual, moves to San My and has his icy heart opened up by the warm and welcoming Fayrouz. unfortunately, he died before his time, leaving Fayrouz a widow. they had one child: Kaleb.
Generation 9: Kaleb Scooter and Natasha Deleon. Kaleb and his gf Jaesha, family vloggers, are pressured into a wedding for their viewers, which is being planned by Natasha, Kaleb's childhood friend. they run away together from Kaleb's livestreamed wedding. they had three kids: Aaron, Evan, and Naomi.
which leads us to where we are today, with Naomi and Taryn forming Generation 10, and Dexter about to launch Generation 11. let's see where this goes next!

Chapter 14: Swordmaster's Teachings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As Ionia stirred back to consciousness, the world around her gradually unveiled itself within the interior of the Swordmasters' Pinnacle. The air, thick with the warmth of a roaring fire, carried the scent of burning wood that intertwined with the rich tapestries that adorned the walls. Rugs adorned the cold stone floor, imbuing the room with a semblance of comfort. At a table nearby, Gramherth Rock moved with the fluid grace of a seasoned warrior, his presence a silent guardian within the sanctum.
Gramherth, his eyes reflecting a myriad of enigmatic depths, tended to Ionia, who felt faint despite the surroundings. Mysterious dialogue slipped from his lips, words woven with the cryptic wisdom of a Swordmaster. "Welcome back, Ionia. The dance between life and death is but the first step in the path you have chosen." The words, heavy with implication, lingered in the air, leaving Ionia to fathom the mysteries veiled within.
A bowl appeared in Gramherth's hands, steam rising from the concoction within. The soup, a hearty blend of root vegetables and herbs, exuded a comforting aroma that enveloped the room. As Ionia partook in the nourishment, the warmth of the soup seemed to defy the chill that lingered in her near-dead body. Life, like a rekindled flame, flowed back into her limbs.
Yet, despite the physical resurgence, Ionia felt a significant lack of emotional connection, as if her former life were a distant memory. Questions surfaced in her mind, and she gazed at Gramherth with a searching intensity. "Why did you almost kill me, Gramherth? What do you intend for me in the future?" Her voice, tinged with a blend of curiosity and apprehension, sought answers within the shadows of the Swordmaster's intentions. The fire crackled in the hearth, casting flickering shadows that mirrored the uncertainties that danced within the sacred confines of the Pinnacle.
Gramherth's eyes, deep pools of wisdom, met Ionia's as he embarked on an explanatory discourse that unveiled the sacred tenets of the Swordmasters. "We are a monastic order, guardians of an ancient art—the pursuit of human bodily perfection. Our journey begins with the stark realization of your mortality, Ionia. You must understand that you are the master of your life, and life is not the master of you."
The weight of Gramherth's words hung in the air, echoing through the cavernous chamber of the Swordmasters' Pinnacle. Ionia, absorbing the profound meaning behind the cryptic teachings, delved into her own thoughts. The realization struck her like a revelation – for the first time in her existence, she held the reins of her own destiny. The Swordmaster training, she understood, was not merely a duty but a pathway to seizing control of her life.
As the flickering fire cast dancing shadows upon the ancient walls, Ionia sifted through her emotions. A newfound clarity emerged, cutting through the veils of uncertainty. Mastery of her destiny, she pondered, began with mastery of her own body. The silent resolution formed within her, a vow etched in the depths of her being. The Swordmasters' teachings, the path to human bodily perfection, became the embodiment of her will, a testament to her reclaiming control over the narrative of her life.
With Gramherth as her guide, Ionia embraced the journey of self-mastery, recognizing that the Swordmasters' Pinnacle, with its time-worn stones and ancient echoes, was both the sanctuary and crucible of her transformation. The air within the chamber vibrated with the unspoken potential of a soul awakening to its own power, and in that moment, Ionia pledged herself to the pursuit of perfection, her destiny entwined with the silent legacy of the Swordmasters.
Ionia, grappling with the weight of her own inquiries, finally voiced the question that lingered in the recesses of her thoughts. "Gramherth, why can't I feel anything? I should be angry or scared, but it's as if I've lost the ability to conjure any emotion."
Gramherth, the embodiment of stoic wisdom, met her gaze with understanding. "Swordmasters begin their journey by ridding themselves of the tumult of emotions. Before mastering the body, one must master the self. The Harpy's Strangler drained more than just life from you; it's trained you to extinguish the inner fire that fuels emotions, rendering them moot."
A realization dawned upon Ionia, and she asked with a furrowed brow, "Is this permanent?"
Gramherth's response carried a reassurance that rippled through the silent chamber. "No, it's not permanent. But you will be trained to detach yourself from your emotions, to ascend beyond their sway. It's a path to mastery, a discipline that goes hand in hand with the pursuit of bodily perfection."
Ionia nodded in agreement, acknowledging the necessity of this transformation. However, an unspoken reservation lingered in the furrow of her brow, a silent questioning of whether this detachment from emotions was truly a blessing. The dance between acceptance and doubt played out within her eyes, and the Swordmasters' Pinnacle, with its ancient stones and enigmatic shadows, bore witness to the intricate tapestry of transformation unfurling within the heart of its sacred walls.
The heavy silence within the Swordmasters' Pinnacle was abruptly shattered as the imposing double doors in the far wall creaked open. A figure cloaked in heavy armor, a man whose appearance resembled that of a bear, lumbered into the room. A wild mane of dreads cascaded down his shoulders, framing a heavy beard that gave him an almost primal countenance. His eyes, feral and untamed, gleamed with an intensity that spoke of experiences etched in the lines of his weathered face.
Gramherth, acknowledging the newcomer, spoke with a tone that hinted at camaraderie, "Frahd Kriska, you've returned."

Frahd's rough voice reverberated through the chamber as he nodded in acknowledgment. "Gramherth." His gaze then shifted towards the center of the room, where Ionia stood, an embodiment of uncertainty in the midst of the seasoned warriors.
Raising an eyebrow, Frahd's eyes bore into Ionia with a keen intensity. "A new recruit, Gramherth?" His words cut through the air like a blade, curiosity and skepticism woven into their rough cadence.
With a nod, Gramherth confirmed, "Yes, Frahd. This is Ionia, our new initiate."
Frahd's wild eyes locked onto Ionia, and with a sly grin, he offered a gruff welcome. "Welcome to your new life, Ionia. Let's hope you can keep it through your training." The words, laden with the weight of unspoken challenges, hung in the air, marking the beginning of a journey into the depths of the Swordmasters' discipline. The ancient stones of the Pinnacle bore witness to the convergence of destinies, the clash of untamed spirits amidst the hallowed halls of transformation.
