Lucky 19 (Raphael Varane x Reader)
Tumblr media
**I was very excited when I got the request to write for my second favourite Frenchie. So much so, that I wanted to add some French too 😅 I used to be better at it so if I got anything wrong, don’t hate me 🤗 Anyways, enjoy! I had a blast writing it and I hope you enjoy reading it too ❤️**

"Hello, bonjour! You're going to have another Frenchie with you on the team soon", says Alessia when she sits next to me at breakfast.
"What do you mean? Who are we signing?"
"Well, not us as in our team. But like, United".
"Can you speak simple English? It's too early for riddles".
"The men's team is signing Varane".
I almost choke on the apple I'm eating.
"They are what?"
"Why do you look so terrified? Do you not like him?"
That's not exactly the problem. "I just didn't see that coming. Huge singing, though".
Alessia nods and starts to eat. But I can only think about Rapha being here…in Manchester. In Carrington. Especially after what happened the last time we met. And also the previous one. And the one before that…
                                **
A couple of days later, we are at Old Trafford for the first match of the season. United vs Leeds. Should be fun.
But before the match starts, I notice a lot of commotion near the tunnel.
"What's going on?"
"Oh, you know. Varane is going to say hi to the fans. He'll come here after he's done", says Katie.
Why am I the last one to find out about everything? Oh right, because he hasn't answered any of my calls or texts.
When Rapha goes out to the pitch, he's holding his new shirt. Number 19, like me.
The whole event gives me an excuse to stare at him. God, he looks so good. That suit he's wearing looks perfect on him. And his smile…I need to stop. That's what got me in trouble before.
"He's so hot", I hear one of my teammates say.
"Who said that?", my tone is harsher than I meant.
"Me?", says Ella, scared by my question.
"No, I didn't mean you. I thought I heard someone insulting us. Don't mind me. English is still hard to understand for me".
English isn't hard to understand for me, and they know it. But they allow me to use it as an excuse.
"I'm going to the toilet before the match starts".
I need to splash some cold water on my face. I can't spend my days acting like this because he's here now.
"Salut, ma belle" (hello, my beautiful).
"You don't answer any of my messages for days and now you come here and call me pretty names? Not very nice, is it?"
"I didn't want to talk to you on the phone but in person".
"Why?", I say, noticing I'm moving closer to him. Damn it! It's like he has a magnet.
"Because I love seeing the way you blush whenever we are together. You're adorable".
"I'm going back with my friends".
"Mon ange, sit with me" (my angel).
"They don't know we know each other, Rapha".
"Who cares? We are both French. It makes sense that I want to be with someone who speaks my language".
I try to go back to my seat because I don't trust myself near him. But he's not a quitter. I soon notice my arm being grabbed by one of his big hands and he moves me to a corner where no one can see us.
"I've missed you, ma belle".
"I haven't".
He nods, laughing and leaning down to kiss me. And of course, I offer no resistance and kiss him back immediately.
"I like it when you don't miss me", he smiles, pressing his forehead against mine.
"It's that stupid suit you're wearing".
"Do you like it?"
I nod, hypnotized by his eyes staring into mine.
"I might let you take it off me later…if you're a good girl".
I roll my eyes and follow him, noticing he's going the wrong way. So I’m now the one that takes his arm and leads him to our seats.
When we get back to my teammates, I introduce them to Rapha.
"So you knew each other?", asks Leah, raising an eyebrow.
"We've seen each other a few times at the French Federation".
He nods, smiling at all of them.
The match is fun. Six goals and the fans are incredibly loud the whole time. It's one of the biggest rivalries in England and it shows.
But for me, the match is also a big challenge. Rapha can't stop leaning to whisper in my ear. I tell Katie we are just chatting about the match, but we aren't.
"Can you stop? This isn't the place".
So he stops…only to start pressing his leg against mine. To anyone, he's just a typical man thinking his legs being spread takes priority over everyone else's comfort, but I know him. He's doing it on purpose because I'm wearing very short shorts. So I can feel the fabric of his trousers on my skin, bringing back so many memories.
"Arrêt!" (stop!)
"Je veux pas" (I don’t want to).
Our little stare contest is interrupted by the referee signalling the end of the match and we both get up to clap the team.
"Come home with me tonight, please", he whispers in my ear. And I can't say no. He knows I can’t say no to him.
                               **
I wake up when I feel strong arms around my waist, pulling me closer to the body next to mine.
"Bonjour", he says while kissing my neck.
I just close my eyes and enjoy the moment, leaning back, closer to him.
"What do you say to breakfast in bed?"
It's not the first time he offers that but it's the first I accept.
"Sure. I can help you make it".
"No, you stay here. I'll be right back".
When he's gone, I get up to go to the bathroom and pick up one of his shirts to wear. I don't even know where mine is.
Soon, he opens the door again, tray in hand.
"Is that just for me?"
"Yes, I'll just have coffee now and I'll eat at Carrington. I have training in an hour and a half. You?"
"Same".
"I can drive you there", he offers.
"I need to get back home and pick up my things. And it'll get people talking if we arrive there together".
He only nods and takes his coffee again to have a couple of sips.
"Do you want more fruit?"
Ever since I was a kid, I've always had dessert before the main food.
"No, I'm good. Maybe when I'm done with the omelette".
So I start eating but when I'm about to put the third piece of food in my mouth, he speaks again.
"You didn't ask me why I signed for United".
"Why did you?"
"Well, I wanted a new challenge and to play in a new league. But I had no idea where to go and then United called me".
"Not surprised they jumped at the chance to sign you, really".
"And I said yes before they even said more about their offer".
I notice his eyes on me and turn to look at him.
"Why?"
"Because you are here".
I drop the fork, startling myself with the noise.
"Sorry".
But when I look at him again, he's just smiling.
"I never wanted us to just have a casual sex type of relationship but the distance didn't make anything else possible. Now…we are in the same city".
I nod, not knowing what else to say. It's true that it never really felt like just that. I mean, we do text a lot and care about each other's lives and careers. That's why it hurt so much to see he didn't even tell me about coming to United.
"What are you trying to say, Rapha?"
"That I want us to be a real couple, ma chérie. But if you just want something casual…I guess I can try but I can't lie and pretend I'm happy with that" (my darling).
I move the tray to the floor, so I don't knock it with my legs when I move. And then I sit on his lap.
"I want us to be a real couple too".
"You do?"
I nod and lean down to kiss him. I have dreamt of this moment more times than I'll admit.
"But let's keep it private for a while, ok? Our teammates can be really annoying".
"I can do that…even if it'll be hard to keep my hands to myself when I see you around Carrington".
“Well, you don’t have to keep them to yourself when it’s just the two of us”.
                                  **
I somehow manage to concentrate enough on training. My head is definitely somewhere else. But not too far because the men train on the pitch next to ours.
"Can you come with us for a second?"
"Me? Sure".
I would rather go to the shower but I follow the lady who came to pick me up. And when I get to the pitch she's leading me to, I see Rapha is there too. Did they already find out about us?
"Why are we here?", I ask him.
"Relax. They just want a photo of their two French number 19 together".
"Oh".
He laughs at my worried face. I mean, it's not as if it's forbidden for us to be together but I don't want to have to give explanations to my employers about my love life.
"Ok, hold your shirts and smile".
We do and the photographer takes a few photos.
"Perfect", he says. And we move to go back to the dressing room. We're both sweaty from our training.
Rapha lets me walk in front of him and when we get to the door, he places his hand on the small of my back. He removes it quickly realising how that might look.
"We're not even going to make it past day 1 without people knowing".
                               **
"We were always trying to get you to hang out with us more but you always found excuses. What changed?", asks me Paul while we are having food in the canteen. It's true that I'm spending more time with my fellow countrymen now but he's exaggerating.
"I ate here with you two plenty of times. And we've been to so many parties together. Don't make up stories".
"Not as many times as you do now…".
"I think she likes Rapha better than she likes us", adds Tony.
I just shake my head. Even if they are right.
"Can you blame her?", asks them Rapha, making us all laugh.
He also puts his hand under the table to stop my leg from bouncing like it does whenever I'm nervous.
"So, should we have the party this week or the next? I need to know when to invite people".
"I don't know, Tony. Both dates work for me", I say. I love his parties.
"Invite some cute boys, we need to find her a boyfriend", laughs Paul. And I can notice Rapha's hand stops caressing my thigh when he hears that.
"I already have one", I say, making them overreact.
"Since when? Who? We need to give him our approval".
"I'm pretty sure you'll love him. But he's not ready to meet you guys yet. He's a bit shy".
"I'm sure he's a great guy", says Rapha trying not to laugh.
"So many hearts will be broken in the national team after this news".
Paul is always talking about all the players from our country that, according to him, fancy me so I'm not surprised by his comment.
"Yeah, well. They'll have to deal with it", says Rapha, and the little hint of jealousy I can detect makes me smirk.
After lunch, we all go back to pick up our things to leave. Rapha and I are using the excuse of us living close to one another to drive together. Also, he's still not used to the city and driving on the left so I've offered to help him. Very selfless of me.
Without warning, he pulls me to the side when he finds a little corner where we can hide and he starts to kiss me.
"Someone could see us".
"They won't", he says, before kissing me again.
"Are you jealous of the attention I get from other players on the national team?", I tease.
"Don't…".
"I didn't know you could get so possessive and jealous. Who's the one that you hate the most right now, then?"
"If you don't stop that", he says, while still kissing my neck, "I'll go on the WhatsApp group right now to tell them about us".
But that only makes me laugh…and I'm not the only one laughing.
I push him away from me when I hear a familiar laugh and steps coming closer.
"What are you two doing here?", asks Alessia while Ella looks at us suspiciously.
"Finding good WiFi", I say, realising I still have my phone in my hand. "I need to send a message but it won't go through".
"And you need help for that?", asks Ella, pointing at Rapha.
He thankfully reacts quickly by grabbing my phone and moving it higher.
"We're trying different heights to see if it works".
"Is this a French thing or is it just you being weird?", asks Alessia.
"Definitely a them thing", says Ella, still staring at us.
My mum saves the day by sending me a random text that makes my phone ping.
"We got it. See you tomorrow, ladies".
                                **
“Why is everyone obsessed with pairing you two together all the time?”, asks Paul when we tell him we have to do an interview for the French TV after lunch.
“We play in the same position”, I say, while Rapha says “we’re really good-looking”.
“She has a boyfriend, Rapha. Back off”.
He lifts his hands, claiming innocence, and I can only laugh.
After lunch, I go to the dressing room quickly to make sure I look ok. And when I get out, he’s waiting for me.
“Ready?”
“I guess. I’m not really in the mood and my hair looks awful”.
“Come here”, he says, opening his arms.
“Rapha…”.
“Just a friendly pre-interview hug”.
Well, that sounds good. So I hug him and before we separate, he kisses my head.
“You look perfect”.
Everyone is waiting for us and only 5 minutes later, we start the interview.
“I’m guessing it’s pretty helpful to have some French players here who can help you adapt to the new country and team”, asks the reporter.
"Yeah, she definitely helped me a lot when I got here. Her, Paul, and Anthony, of course".
"That's nice. French union in Manchester".
I laugh.
"You both play in the same position. What do you admire the most from each other's style of play?”
We both start to answer at the same time.
"You go first", I say.
"No, you go, ma chérie".
When I hear him, I try not to react to it but can see the presenter staring at us. A bit weird for a colleague and friend to call me that.
"Well, your ball distribution for sure".
“I would say your tackles”, he says, still shocked by the way he messed up. “I would be sent off if I tried to tackle like that, but you do it in a smarter way”.
The reporter continues to ask football questions mostly and I’m worried he’ll use Rapha’s slip to ask something else but he’s a big professional and doesn’t do it.
“Thank you for the interview, guys. I’m sorry it was live or we could have cut that part, you know?”
“It’s fine”, I say. Because it is. We couldn’t keep it a secret forever so who cares? Now people know.
I go join Rapha who is looking at me with his best “I’m sorry" face.
“Don’t worry. It could have happened to me too. And people were going to find out eventually”.
“You sure you don’t mind?”
“I don't”, I say, smiling at him. But before I have time to kiss him, a voice startles us.
"I knew it!", yells Ella. "And it's been confirmed by the French people of Twitter because I obviously have no idea what you two were saying in that video".
“Ok, detective Tooney. Great job!”

Handprints | Raphaël Varane
summary: some said jealousy was a disease, but if jealousy had Raphaël leaving handprints all over your body? you were willing to catch it.
Tumblr media
WARNING: 18+, sexual content
Raphael ran his palm against your flushed back before landing another harsh slap to your ass. You body jolted slightly, the area becoming red with his handprints as he continued to massage the soft skin. You let out a small moan as he slipped a finger into your juicy pussy, aching to be around his cock.
You were a mess, hair down and messy, your evening gown discarded of a while before. Raphael wasn't stopping any time soon with his punishments. And as twisted as it sounded, you didn't want him to stop. It started off all so innocent, you were at a charity banquet when you ran into an old friend, Nick. You were simply catching up on the past years of your life until Raphael came to your side, insisting that you come with him immediately.
"Oh he was not!" You continued raising your voice. "Please y/n don't take me as a fool, he wanted to fuck you right there" Raphael escalated. "We were just catching up for fucks sake" you yelled, causing the room to go silent as Raphael stopped spewing out returning arguments.
Raphael was the jealous type. While some would find it insufferable, you found it to be one of his best qualities. His jealousy towards any man that came just a bit too close to you was extremely hot. You had made Raphael aware of these feelings, letting him have his way with you in return for getting him so riled up. He was rough, just how you liked it.
Your breathing was uneven, your body becoming sore from the marks left on your ass. Your face was burning, cheeks hot as Raphael brought a hand to your throat from behind you. He was moving you into dogsy position, just how you liked it.
His grip on your neck as firm, only bringing you pleasure as he snaked his free hand down to your hip bringing you closer to his body. His hard cock was sprung against your ass, twitching slightly as precum covered the tip.
"Your ass is gonna be different shades of red by the time I'm done with you" Raphael cooed, his raspy voice sending shivers down your entire naked body. Your hands clung to the pillows at the top of the bed as you positioned your body to be as straight as possible, arching your back slightly. "Fuck me Raph, make me yours" you taunted, testing the limits.
Raphael let out a dry chuckle before thrusting into your harshly, shutting you up swiftly. You let a pornographic moan, shutting your eyes as Raphael built up his pace. His back shots were all consuming, you were whining under him begging for more. He filled you to the brim, making sure you were taking everything he was giving. Raphael drilled his cock into your pussy mercilessly. Your satisfied moans and screams were vindication enough for him.
Everything about sex with him was hot. The way his cock deliciously filled you was irreplaceable. No man could have you falling apart at their mercy like he had you. He could've asked you for anything right now and you would've said yes he was fucking you so good. Every back shot bringing you closer to letting go all over his cock. Raphael kept his grip on your neck, tightening with even harder thrust. "So fucking tight, all for me" Raphael groaned, bringing his hand from your waist to slap your ass, leaving you completely cock drunk.
The sound of his cock drilling into your core was lucid, absolutely filthy. The echoing sound of skin slapping was turning you on even more. Your body was begging for a release, clinging for dear life as Raphael only continued. "Mhm, I'm so close" you managed to moan, now completely laid flat on the bed as you couldn't hold yourself up anymore.
"Want you to cum all over my cock" Raphael replied, increasing his thrusts into you. He was pounding into you, you were ruined. "Cum inside me" you moaned out half dazed. "Whatever you want mon cherie" Raphael responded. Raphael moved your body slightly up until he reached your g-spot, your legs were shaking as he finally hit that delicious spot inside of you.
You came undone all over his cock, gushing your juices all over his pulsing member. "Don't stop, don't stop" was all you could manage as your eyes rolled to the back of your head. Raphael managed to ride your through your high before letting go. Cummimg inside of you, you moaned at the feeling of his warm seed coating the inside of your walls.
You felt like collapsing, your whole body aching as Raphael had completely fucked you out without a care. But you loved it, a week without his rough touch had you feeling starved, craving his dominance.

The music boomed through the speakers as she stood in the corner chatting with Daphne, catching up on one another since her departure from Real Madrid - it had been ages since they had seen one another; for a valid reason as her departure had been spurred on by her split from her former boyfriend Raphael Varane a year ago which ultimately lead her to accept a job offering in Atletico Madrid - the split from Raphael was anything but cordial, their affair started off heated then grew toxic with Raphael becoming controlling over every singe move she made, she had managed to escape him in some form, or so she thought.
Maria and Nacho were celebrating their anniversary, and while she tried her best to enjoy her time, from the corner of her eye she spots Raphael chatting with Dani, their eyes had met; immediately she felt the fear coursing through her veins as she decided to excuse herself in order to find a leeway to escape him as he began to 'subtly' follow her around much to her dismay, she scanned her surroundings seeking out an escape route and that's when her eyes landed on, him.
Sergio Ramos.
The pair had never exchanged a conversation throughout her time working there yet it seemed like fate was pointing her at his direction, she sprints towards him until he finally noticed her with a raised brow, he asked. " What's wrong muñeca? "
" Do you see him? " She blurts out, pointing behind her, " Do you see Raphael? "
He looks behind her then nods, " Yeah, why? "
She inhales then exhales softly before she leaned in, " Kiss me, I need to him to take the hint and walk away "
His brows shot up, he'd seen his fair share of bold women yet none like her, " Muñeca, what are you ...? " before he could even finish his question, her lips press entirely over his, exchanging a searing passionate kiss which after the initial shock, he'd instantly reciprocated, wrapping an arm around her waist while their kiss deepened before being interrupted by the booming sound of the Frenchman who barked.
" What the hell is this? "
She pulls back then turns to face him with a heated glare, " What you just saw, Sergio and I are dating, we have been dating for a while "
He chuckles incredulously, " You can't be serious "
" She is " Sergio interjects, wrapping an arm around her to solidify the ruse. " And if I were you, I'd turn around and move on "
He looks between her and Sergio, then shakes his head. " No way, this has to be a joke "
" It's not, I like Sergio and he likes me " She states, as if it was the most obvious thing out there.
" Rapha, let it go hermano " Sergio grins, pressing a kiss to her cheek. " She's mine now "
Seething with fury, Raphael storms out of the party much to her relief, she turns around and mutters. " You have no idea how grateful I am for you "
Sergio chuckles, " Don't worry muñeca, come on ... let's go and sit outside "
And so they did, they snuck through the swarms of individuals in the house finding a secluded area in the back garden, she sits down on the ground; he follows then asks her, " What was all that? "
She lets out a soft sigh, " Rapha and I were dating in secret when I worked with all of you before, it was heated, passionate and I thought he was the one ... " she paused in order to collect her thoughts before adding on, " A year into our relationship, he started to become controlling, told me what to wear, how to act, and avoid talking to any of you unless it was related to work "
" Wow " He murmurs.
" I managed to get myself out, found myself feeling more comfortable in Atletico which is why when he saw me tonight, he thought I would be easily swayed " She chuckles softly.
Sergio grows silent, contemplating on what exactly he should say, however his thoughts were interrupted by her once again.
" I hope I didn't make you feel uncomfortable " She broke the silence with a nervous tone.
" Muñeca " He chuckles, placing his hand over hers. " I told you, it's fine besides ... " he trails off.
" What? " She asked with a raised brow.
" I actually ... -um- " He pauses, swallowing the lump in his throat. " I like you muñeca "
Her eyes widened, " Huh? "
" I know ... I know " He chuckles, " We haven't spoken throughout your time in Real, only a few moments but ... " he sighs with a soft smile across his lips. " I can't even begin to express how much I admired your work ethic, I was ... I was a hopeless fool, everyone could see it but I couldn't tell you cause I was afraid of how you'd react "
Her heart softened at his admission, " I had no idea "
He shrugs, " I didn't want to tell you to be honest, but now you do ... and " he exhales a soft breath, " I'm not expecting you to jump into a relationship immediately but maybe, we can hang out "
She bites her lip, hesitation evident across her features - it wasn't that she was against spending time with him, it was the fact that he was Sergio Ramos, the man every woman wanted, a notion that sent her through a tidal wave of insecurity, " I guess we can try but I can't promise that I'll be fully in cause I'm still healing "
He smile softly, " I don't mind waiting, I'll wait forever if I have to "
She smiles back, " I appreciate it "
A wave of silence falls over them, before she looked up to find Sergio leaning closer - " Sergio? " she whispers.
" Shh " He hushed her, resting his forehead on hers while his thumb caressed the apple of her cheek, " Let's just ... let's enjoy the silence "
She refrained from talking, relishing the way he was gently caressing her cheek while his hand securely wrapped around her waist, suddenly he pulls back slightly to press a featherlight kiss on her forehead sending shivers rolling down her spine, " I promise you muñeca, through better or worse, I'll always be there for you "
She smiles at his words then murmurs, " Thank you! "

Schmeichel slams Man United star after latest display
Tumblr media
Manchester United great Peter Schmeichel has slammed Antony after the Red Devils drew 2-2 with Sevilla in the quarter-final of the Europa League on Thursday. The Red Devils appeared to be cruising to victory at Old Trafford after Marcel Sabitzer netted two vital goals in the first-leg fixture. However, Tyrell Malacia and Harry Maguire put the ball into their own net in the final stages of the clash to make the second leg in Spain next week a difficult battle. The 23-year-old Antony produced a sub-par performance against Sevilla and created zero chances, and registered just one shot on target in the 81 minutes he lasted on the pitch. Manchester United will now travel to Sevilla hoping for a better outing in Spain but without the likes of Bruno Fernandes(suspended), Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, who picked up injuries last night. “It is frustrating to see someone of his talent not making more of it,” Schmeichel told BBC. He further stated that “Manchester United are not a top European team yet” with the way they approach games. On what he thinks about Erik Ten Hag’s management, the United legend said,”That is my worry, the lack of ability to manage the game. We have seen this a couple of times this season.” Read the full article

England Set France Classic Clash for A Semifinal Spot
Tumblr media
Olivier Giroud celebrated as he scored the first French goal against Poland yesterday (📸 Reuters via The Hindustan Times)
The second day of the Round of 16 filled the top side of the bottom half of the draw, which saw the battle between France & Poland and England & Senegal. While the room for upsets is always open, the trajectory of both matches contrasted with each other in practice.
France v. Poland
Tumblr media
Robert Lewandowski waved shortly after the final whistle blew after he scored a goal from the penalty kick (📸 Football Today)
The match was initially fast-paced, where it started with several notable French chances from Antoine Griezmann at 3' and Aurelien Tchouameni at 12'. The most notable Polish chance came from Robert Lewandowski at 20' and Matty Cash at 34', but to no avail. Wojciech Szczesny was also remarkable with the save at 35' and how Piotr Zielinski's right-foot shot to the center at 37' got rebounded and saved by Hugo Lloris. However, right before half-time was called, Olivier Giroud scored a goal at 43' after executing the passes perfectly from Dayot Upamecano to Kylian Mbappe and right to Giroud to be shot, only for Jakub Kiwior trying to play offside but to no avail. The first half then ended with France leading 1-0.

In the second half, Poland tried to match the French pace, coming from the point they left off in the first half and defended well, but France went even more aggressively with several more chances, one of which came from Kylian Mbappe and Giroud's notable bicycle kick. Mbappe went on to score two different goals: one at 74', where Ousmane Dembele perfectly passed the ball to Mbappe to catch the Polish defense department off-guard; and the second right at 90' in an upgraded execution of a previous goal from Lionel Messi. That goal was an addition to his goals tally, scoring 16 goals in 14 matches for France.

Although M. Cash attempted a bicycle kick, also to no avail, there was another drama several minutes later, when a VAR official spotted a French handball right at the end of the match. When the contact was confirmed, a penalty was awarded to the Polish side, where Robert Lewandowski executed it in two takes: Lloris successfully saved the first take, albeit it was deemed offside at the end, which prompted a second take. This is where Lewandowski successfully scored a goal for Poland, minimizing the difference to 1-3, and the final whistle blew.
England v. Senegal

The stand-off between England and Senegal was rather slower in construction, but once England went on fire, they never looked back. As much as Senegal tried to raise their level, England eventually dominated the whole flow throughout the 90 minutes of play. Senegal had their chances, but they could not maximize them, hence England took advantage in their counter-attack since.
Although Senegal started with a chance successfully defended by Harry Maguire, signifying a slower start, one of their notable chances in the first half remained Ismaila Sarr's shot that went far and wide right after being assisted by Boulaye Dia, in the position John Stones defended. England successfully converted their defensive position into an offensive where Jordan Henderson attacked right at the penalty box in 39'. Phil Foden's flick out from the left, followed by Jude Bellingham's delivery to the penalty spot where J. Henderson stood by to execute, catching Edouard Mendy off-guard. Right before the whistle blew in half-time, England successfully scored another goal, this time from Harry Kane (who finally added his name to the scoreboard this year), where Bellingham and Foden once again played their parts to break it forward before Kane executed the final shot. As a result, England led 2-0.
8 minutes after the second half started, England became more aggressive, where Bukayo Saka was able to score at 57' after Foden's ball crossed Saka, breaching Senegal's defenses, where the pitch was left off-guard, overwhelming Mendy to some extent. There were several other notable chances towards the end of the second half, where Senegal appeared to raise their level, but they all went too wide, even further above the goal net. Even though Rashford had a last-minute unconverted chance, England maintained their position until the end of the match, securing their quarterfinal place at 3-0, and a clash against France in that round.
England v. France: What's Ahead?
Tumblr media

The French position as the 2018 World Champion would pose a great test for England, especially when they are in peak form. However, their build-up toward this round was something else: England, having started solidly with a 6-2 win against Iran, drew the United States with a rather slower tempo flow, before going on fire again facing Wales. On the other hand, the French aggression knew no boundaries, with a little hiccup when they got defeated by Tunisia (0-1) in the last match of the group stage, having already qualified.
While their last meeting was in the friendly match of 2017, where France eventually won 3-2 in a close match, England only won once out of the seven meetings in this millennium, followed by two draws and four defeats. To prevail, England must be able to absorb the French side's quicker pace, or it would be costly. Judging by the last few matches, France would likely have a rapid start, where England's defense department will be tested before the conversion to offensive play becomes the next aspect of attention. Regardless of the outcome, this match can be seen as a classic nail-biter for all the suspense it will bring.

Rashfords one hundredth Man United aim sinks West Ham
Marcus Rashford’s one hundredth aim for Manchester United sealed a 1-0 win towards West Ham because the England ahead made his push for a World Cup place on Sunday. Rashford has been certainly one of United’s most improved gamers this season after a number of years within the doldrums. However the 24-year-old continues to be not assured a spot on England’s flight to Qatar for the World Cup in November. Rashford, who was disregarded of England’s most up-to-date Nations League squad, took the prospect to remind Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate of his qualities with a tremendous show capped by the first-half winner at Outdated Trafford. With Southgate watching from the stands, Rashford’s seventh aim in all competitions this season was completely timed earlier than the England supervisor names his World Cup squad. After netting towards Sheriff within the Europa League on Thursday, Rashford mentioned Erik ten Hag was a “pleasure” to play for as he hailed the United supervisor’s position in his revival. Because of Rashford, the twenty second participant to attain a century of targets for United, and a collection of very good saves from david De Gea, Ten Hag’s aspect are as much as fifth place within the Premier League.  Unbeaten of their final eight video games in all competitions, United are one level behind fourth-placed Newcastle within the race to qualify for subsequent season’s Champions League. West Ham supervisor David Moyes has nonetheless to win away towards United within the Premier League, shedding 12 of his 16 visits to his former membership. United needed to experience their luck at instances, with their defence creaking because the much-maligned Harry Maguire made his first league begin since August 13 instead of the injured Raphael Varane. – Pink-hot Rashford – Rashford carried the primary risk for United and he lower by means of the West Ham defence for a strong drive that hit Craig Dawson and looped simply over the bar. Rashford went shut once more with a header from Diogo Dalot’s cross that compelled West Ham keeper Lukasz Fabianski into motion. Cristiano Ronaldo was making his first league begin for the reason that goalless draw towards Newcastle on October 16, having been granted a return to the crew following his temporary exile after refusing to return on instead towards Tottenham. A wasted cross from Ronaldo introduced an finish to a promising assault and triggered groans of frustration from United followers, whose angst grew when Anthony Elanga volleyed large from an excellent place. However Rashford settled United’s anxiousness within the thirty eighth minute with a perfectly-timed run to the far publish, the place he leapt above Thilo Kehrer to fulfill Christian Eriksen’s very good cross with a bullet header from six yards. Rashford remained purple sizzling within the second half, skipping previous his marker for a roller that whistled narrowly large from the sting of the realm. Ronaldo was left shaking his head in disbelief after squandering two good probabilities in fast succession as he headed over after which shot large. If these misses had been indicative of Ronaldo’s decline, the 37-year-old stored attempting and his deflected shot virtually crept over Fabianski. Stated Benrahma was West Ham’s dangerman and his long-range effort was effectively held by De Gea because the guests loved a interval of sustained stress. In a tense end, it was De Gea who ended as United’s saviour because the Spaniard denied Michail Antonio with an excellent cease, then made an excellent higher save to maintain out Kurt Zouma’s header. Dea Gea saved his finest for final when he dived to his left at full-stretch to make an excellent save from Declan Rice’s goalbound blast. Originally published at Irvine News HQ

[ad_1] MANCHESTER (England): Marcus Rashford scored twice as Manchester United made it 4 wins in a row and ended Arsenal's good begin to the Premier League season with a 3-1 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday. Gabriel Martinelli regarded to have given Arsenal a Twelfth- minute lead after ending off a swift break however the effort was disallowed following a VAR evaluate. Martinelli compelled two saves out of United keeper David De Gea because the guests started to dominate nevertheless it was the house facet who drew first blood by way of debutant Antony. The Brazilian winger, signed from Ajax final week, was discovered on the proper by Rashford and coolly drifted a shot into the far backside nook. Arsenal deservedly drew stage when the excellent Martin Odegaard threaded a ball in direction of Gabriel Jesus within the field and after a problem by Raphael Varane the ball fell to Bukayo Saka who slotted dwelling. Manchester United recorded the biggest win of Ralf Rangnick's reign in his final home match as interim boss as Brentford were beaten at Old Trafford.
A brilliant opener from Bruno Fernandes was followed by a second-half penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane's first United goal as the hosts cruised to victory.
Ronaldo also had a goal disallowed as he moved onto 18 Premier League goals, four behind Golden Boot leader Mohamed Salah.
The result keeps alive United's slender hopes of Champions League qualification at least until next weekend, while Brentford could still go down, even though their 40 points is almost certainly enough to retain their status as a top-flight club.
For the third game running, home fans protested against the club's owners, but while there were plenty of anti-Glazer family chants and green and gold flares in opposition to the Americans, the mooted 73rd-minute walkout did not materialise in any significant number.
Mata's fond farewell
United's victory moved them on to 58 points with two games remaining, meaning they still have the chance to match their tally from the 2013-14 campaign under David Moyes, which is their lowest since the 59 they struggled to in 1990-91.
This was actually one of their better displays, helped in no small part by Juan Mata, who was making his first league start of the season in what was probably his last match at Old Trafford.
Mata could have had an assist to go with his precise passing and invention, only for Ronaldo to be judged marginally offside after he had scored from the veteran Spain international's pass.
Ronaldo got his goal anyway, sending Brentford keeper David Raya the wrong way from the spot after the Portuguese had been fouled by Rico Henry.
That doubled a lead given to the hosts by Fernandes.
With a contract to 2026, Fernandes is one of the pillars of incoming manager Erik ten Hag's United.
His first goal since February was a beauty, slamming home Anthony Elanga's cutback with a first-time volley.
Raphael Varane's deflected shot brought United their third - and with the protest not gaining the anticipated momentum, there were still plenty of fans in the stadium as the home players went on their post-match lap of appreciation for a season that most connected with the club cannot wait to end.
Big decision awaits for Eriksen
This was only Christian Eriksen's ninth match for club and country since his return from the cardiac arrest he suffered while playing for Denmark against Finland at the European Championship in June 2021.
Yet the Dane has already done enough to show he can operate at a level above Brentford.
Within 10 seconds of kick-off, he had lifted a pass over the United defence that threatened to create an opportunity for Bryan Mbeumo before Victor Lindelof came across to cover.
It was a pin-point curling Eriksen cross that Ivan Toney headed over from a central position, a deep free-kick at the start of the second half that the striker was unable to keep on target and a long-range free-kick from the Dane that David de Gea had to palm away.
Eriksen's contract runs out in the summer, although it does contain an option to extend it for a further year.
The big question is whether the 30-year-old repays Brentford - and Thomas Frank's faith in offering him a way back into the game - and commits to another season or he accepts an offer from a bigger club, which will surely come his way.

I just love your writing!!💞💞 Can I request a Raphael Varane Imagine? The reader and Raph really have a bad break up. Raph was seen with other women but he wasnt cheating. She is a singer and breaks down crying on stage while singing a sad song about their break up. And when he saw her like that he also couldnt stay away any longer and they make up? Inspired by many songs of Sam Smith 🙈🙈🙈
This is cavity-inducing levels of fluff, but it’s hard not to be super sweet when we’re talking about our perfect French Disney Prince. I hope you like it love!! 💕
__________________________________________________
One Last Song
Raphael stood in the wings, out of her line of sight, watching her. He didn’t know what had made him come. The last time he had seen her was three months ago, the night she walked out. Their break up was messy, painful. The time away from each other, traveling to matches for him and touring for her, had been too much. Then the tabloids had photographed him with another woman. Nothing had happened, he was merely talking with the woman, but he couldn’t blame her for believing the worst. No amount of begging had made her stay.
Why had she sent him passes to the show? Maybe she was just being kind. Maybe she expected him to bring friends. Would she be angry that he had come alone? Most of the crew still recognized him, and security had let him through with no hassle, but aside from the expected pleasantries no one had really spoken to him.
I’m sending a message to you
And I’m hoping that it will get through
He saw the light reflect off her necklace, and he did a double take. He thought he must be mistaken, it couldn’t be the locket he’d given her. He took a step forward to get a closer look, and his chest swelled with emotion when he realized it was.
In case you hear this
Then know you’re the love of my life
Want to tell you I’m sorry
I miss having you by my side
When you were mine
He saw her fingers brush against the locket, saw that her face was wet with tears. She still sounded incredible though. Her audience was entranced by her voice. Every person was on their feet, either singing along with her or swaying back and forth with their arms outstretched. She was magic when she was onstage with a microphone. She was magic, period.
How had he ever let her walk away? Why hadn’t he fought harder? She had invited him here tonight, worn his locket, she was singing this song through tears… surely that meant something? Surely she still loved him too?
When it was good it was bittersweet honey
You made me sad ‘til I loved the shade of blue
I know you don’t want to talk to me
So this is what I will do
She glanced off to the side, just briefly, but their eyes met and he knew. She was holding the locket now, her voice was breaking. Her audience sang louder for her, pushing her through.
She did still love him. She had to.
Maybe you’re listening
So here’s one last song for you
Here’s one last song for you
The crowd screamed for her, their shouts filling the stadium. She clutched her chest and bowed, raising up to blow kisses and mouth her thanks to them. She waved with both hands as the stage lights went out, leaving just enough light offstage for him to see her turn and run towards him.
She threw herself into his arms and he clutched her to him, the chaos around them fading away. He felt only her, heard only her voice in his ear.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, I never should have left, I love you. I love you.” She was sobbing. “Please, please forgive me, please tell me you can love me again.”
He lessened his grip around her so he could look her in the eye. “Darling, I’ve never stopped loving you.” He pulled her to him again, their first kiss in months sending chills down his spine and making him forget all those sleepless nights without her.
He was aware of the crowd still screaming, calling for an encore. She pulled breathlessly away from him. “I have to… I’m sorry, I have to finish.”
He smiled, brushing her hair from her face. “Go. I’ll be here.”
She kissed him once more and rushed back on stage, where the audience somehow roared even louder. He watched her shine from the wings, bursting with pride. He didn’t know where they would go from here, but they loved each other. They would figure the rest out.

A different kind of proposal (Raphael Varane x Reader)
Tumblr media
**Got a request to write for Rapha again and, you know, it’s such a sacrifice but I’ll do it just for you 😉 I don’t know how I came up with this specific idea but I think it’s one of the cutest things I’ve ever written so I hope you enjoy it 🥰**
Word count: 1857
Masterlist
Wattpad
"What are you doing?"
Rapha was startled by your words and closed the drawer so fast, he almost hurt his fingers in the process.
"You scared me. Why didn't you knock?"
"Do I need to knock to get inside my room now? I mean, the bathroom I get but the room? Afraid I'll see you naked?"
He laughed at your joke, still staring at the closed drawer on the bedside table. You noticed that but didn't want to overthink what could be going on. You trusted him.
"Should we order some food or cook?"
"Let’s order", he said. "I want a lazy evening".
"I'm not saying no to that but I have to shower first. Order for me, please. You know what I like".
I hope I do, he thought, looking at the drawer again.
                                       **
After a couple of days, you forgot about that odd moment. So when you were walking around the room, talking to Rapha's mum on the phone, you just checked his bedside table without a second thought. It's not as if it was his solely. It was on his side of the bed but there were things that belonged to him on the one on your side too, so…
"Are you still there?"
"Yes", you said, staring at the little box you saw.
"Did you find it?"
Oh, you found that and more.
"Yes, it's here", you told her, picking the piece of paper with the phone number she needed and reading it our loud for her.
When you hung up, you couldn't help it. You had to open the box and what you found there didn't surprise you. It was an engagement ring. That was why he had been so weird lately. And when was he planning on popping the question?
You took the ring out of the box and tried it on. It fit perfectly and it was so beautiful. Not that you were surprised because if someone knew you well, it was your boyfriend. And…future fiancé? It sounded good to you.
Hearing the front door open and close made you panic and you took the ring off quickly and put it back on the box.
“Are you home?”
“Yes! I’ll be there in a second”.
You ran down the stairs and almost launched yourself at Rapha.
“Hi!”, he laughed. “Someone’s missed me”.
“I always miss you”, you said, staring into his eyes. “But we’ll always be together so…I won’t have to miss you much, right?”
He didn’t understand why you were saying that now, oblivious to the fact that you had seen the ring and were feeling very emotional at the moment. But he nodded and kissed you anyway. Because that was his plan too, to be with you for the rest of his life.
But a couple of days later, he got home early and you didn’t notice because you were in the garden with your headphones on. He was going to say hi to you when your phone rang and he stopped walking not wanting to interrupt you. It was probably a work call.
“Hey, Lils. Thanks for calling back”.
Oh, you were talking to your sister. Well, then he could approach you and say hi to her too.
“Yeah, I’m still freaked out after seeing the ring”.
She’s seen it?, he thought, scared of what your reaction could have been.
“I know. He hasn’t asked me yet, which is good”.
Why was it good?
“Yeah, I need to do something before he does. But it could happen any minute and I’m panicking”.
You could mean many things by that. Maybe you wanted to wear something special and planned on going shopping. You were really into your fashion.
“I know. I just know I can’t let him propose”.
Why would you say that?
Rapha didn’t want to hear more. It was going to make him feel sick. Why didn’t you want him to propose? You were happy, right? It had been almost three years of relationship with barely any bumps in the road. You rarely fought and…you were talking about always being together just two days ago. Had seeing the ring made you have doubts about the relationship?
Rapha decided to go upstairs. He needed to stay away from you for a second to think clearly.
By the time you made it back to your room, he was lying down on the bed with his arms on his face.
“I didn’t know you were here. Are you ok?”
You rushed to his side, fearing he was sick.
“Yeah, just feeling a little dizzy”.
“Do you need anything? Some water, food…I don’t know. Just tell me and I’ll get it for you”.
But he just stared at you. How could you look so worried about him while you were thinking about refusing his proposal to marry him?
“My love, what’s wrong?”
“I think I have a headache. You should leave me alone so I can sleep”.
“I could cuddle you. Maybe massage your temples”, you offered.
“I would rather be alone”.
His attitude surprised you but you guessed everyone was a bit grumpy when dealing with a headache so didn’t worry too much about it and left him alone.
But Rapha didn’t sleep. He kept hearing your words over and over again. “I just know I can’t let him propose”. Why?
He faked sleeping the few times you went to check on him but he knew you’d be able to tell he was awake when you joined him in bed later.
“You should eat something. I can fix you something quickly…”.
“I’ll go get it. It’d be good to move a bit”.
He left without even looking at you. Why was he so weird all of a sudden? It had to be more than a headache. But when you asked him, he said everything was fine. And you wanted to believe it but he was a terrible liar.
“Do you need anything before I sleep?”
He shook his head and you got inside the bed, instinctively moving closer to him to cuddle. And even though he stiffened a bit when you first touched him, he let go of that fear of losing you for a second so he could enjoy the moment. He didn’t understand why you said what you said, but he could feel how much you loved him. And that had to count for something, right?
                                           **
Things were slowly going back to normal but you could still feel Rapha being a bit distant. You just didn’t understand why and he wouldn’t tell you either. So your mind went to the only possible option…he wasn’t going to propose. He changed his mind. So…should you even continue with your plan? Or was it going to lead to heartbreak?
“I’m off to the office”, you told him, kissing his cheek. “Will you be back tonight at the usual time?”
“Yes”.
“Don’t be late, please”.
“Ok?”, he was confused by your request. “Is there a reason for that?”
“I just…we need to talk. And…yeah. Just be on time”.
Talk? He thought you were going to bring up the ring. Surely, it had to be that. But your tone was so strange, he feared there was more.
“Ok”, was the only thing he could say.
“See you later. I love you”.
“I love you too”.
But then why were you acting like this if you loved him? His head was a mess full of all the worst outcomes. And so training was a nightmare. He couldn’t concentrate and just wanted to get back home to you. But he also feared coming back home to you.
You were also so nervous. What if this didn’t work out? What if he hated it or felt offended by what you did? But you wanted to do it.
“Rapha?”, you asked when you heard the door open but no more sounds. “Don’t come closer!”
Closing the door to the living room, you ran to the front door where a confused boyfriend was staring at you.
“Are you breaking up with me?”
“What? What would make you think that?”
“Why don’t you want to marry me?”
Where was he getting these ideas from?
“Who says I don’t? Rapha, what are you talking about?”
“I heard you speak to your sister and say you didn’t want me to propose”.
That was why he was acting so strange. You felt such relief knowing the cause for his behaviour that a small smile appeared on your face.
“Is it funny?”
“Stop talking and come with me”, you said, extending your hand for him but he wasn’t sure what to do. “Please. You’ll understand it all if you follow me”:
He finally took your hand and you led him to the living room, where a few packages were placed on the floor.
“What’s that?”
“Open them. Start with 1 and finish with 11”.
So he did that. When he opened the first one he saw an old shirt of his he had forgotten about and one photo.
“Turn it around so you can read the back”.
He followed your orders and started to read, which confused him even more. The photo was one taken on your first trip together and the shirt was one you wore to bed every night you were there. And that you stole before returning home. On the back of the photo, you told him about how much that trip had meant to you. You reminisced about some of the best moments you experienced there as well.
“Number 2 now?”
You nodded.
On each little package, there was a photo and an object that was attached to the memory portrayed in the photo. You could see him smile reading your words and your heart was so full of love for him at that moment.
He took number 11, your number, but you stopped him.
“I picked 11 because that’s our anniversary, 11th of November. Our lucky number. And…what day is it today?”
“The 11th”, he said, realising at that moment.
“Yes. I want to marry you, Rapha. Of course I want to, you idiot. But when I saw the ring by mistake…I didn’t want you to propose to me. We’ve never been a couple that does things the traditional way, have we?”
“No”, he chuckled.
“So I wanted to be the one who proposed to you”, he looked at you, surprised but not too much. It did sound like something you would do. “Open number 11”.
He did and was confused to see a couple of dried flowers but instead of asking, he just picked up the photo to see what it meant. It was a photo of you two at your sister’s wedding. You didn’t catch the bride’s bouquet but the friend who did took a couple of flowers off it for you. Rapha smiled remembering that moment and how you dried the petals to keep forever.
He then turned the photo and saw a very simple question. One he had been planning to ask: would you marry me?
He looked up at you, tears in his eyes like there were in yours, and said yes.

screw tradition! (marco asensio)
Tumblr media
based off request from anon: Can you write a Marco Asensio imagine where he proposes to his longtime girlfriend?
PARINGS: marco asensio x OC (bella)
WARNINGS: pure fluff!
six years is a long time to be in love. marco thought, fiddling with the small black box in his hands.
when he met bella six years ago at a mutual friend’s party, marco knew that what he had with bella was something. a year of being young and messing with each other’s hearts passed, bringing them closer together. all of marco’s teammates (especially isco!) referred to bella as marco’s wife, even though the couple had never discussed or considered marriage.
it was night, at least marco guessed. ever since bella and him has arrived at isco’s party, he’d lost track of time. the streets of madrid were busy and the annoying hun of traffic played through isco’s home at suprisingly low volume. as marco walked through their isco’s house, he heard the distinctive laugh of his girlfriend.
marco imagined what it would be like. what it would be like to live this life forever; to be with the woman he loved forever and live out the rest of his life with bella by his side. and to watch as her chest rised against his own whilst she fell asleep. and to hear her ridiculous laugh every time he told a terrible joke.
bella was sat on the kitchen counter wearing one of marco’s t-shirts loosely hanging on her midriff and a pair of shorts, a bowl of strawberries with a beer bottle next to her exposed thigh. she was talking to isco’s wife, when her eyes landed upon marco’s. her eyes were another thing that he found beautiful about her; the small specks of gold in her dark brown eyes along with her unmistakable freckles dotted around her nose.
“i guess i’ll leave you two alone.” isco’ wife stated, taking it as her cue to leave.
bella sighed as isco’s wife left the kitchen, vacating the room which meant that marco and bella were finally alone.
“hello handsome.”
marco jumped slightly, not realising he had been out in a psychedelic trance by bella, who had only said two words. her normal straightened black hair cascaded down her shoulders in its natural curls (which was marco’s favourite hairstyle on bella) covered her deep dimples from the world. marco couldn’t hide his dumb smile as he approached his girlfriend, hiding the small black box behind his back. he knew that now wouldn’t be the right time and marco didn’t really want to ruin such a wholesome moment between them.
trying to fight off the small amount of alcohol in his system, marco positioned his body in between bella’s legs and rested his head on her shoulder. bella couldn’t deny that whenever she was in marco’s presence, a smile would instantly appear on her face. she knew it was wrong to be so emotionally attached to someone, especially with how dispensable people can be nowadays, but bella couldn’t help it. marco asensio was infectious, someone you couldn’t give up easily.
he was the man who would send bella massive bouquets of roses whenever he was away for a game, along with the occasional giant teddy bear. marco was the man who always listened to whatever she gave to say and always respected her boundaries.
marco would always make sure that she was alright emotionally, wanting to talk about everything and anything that could possibly worry bella. marco was just the perfect man and bella knew that she’d never met anyone like him in her lifetime.
bella started with a small kiss on his lips, allowing herself to savour the familiar taste. just as she was going for another delicate kiss, marco smashed his lips onto hers, not giving bella a second to breath. as they pulled apart, bella kept one hand on marco’s shoulder, allowing themselves to catch their breath.
“geez, someone’s in a good mood.” marco chuckled, before bella brought her lips onto his again.
bella hummed against his lips, using her free hand to run through marco’s hair lightly. marco relished for that feeling of contact between the two, using his arms to grab onto her hips and pull bella even closer to him. before the kiss could lead anywhere that wasn’t the kitchen, bella pulled away (much to the displeasure of marco) and grabbed a strawberry from the bowl.
“gosh, how can you manage to switch from sexy to cute in under a second?” marco stated, taking a bite of the strawberry bella had presented.
bella chuckled in reply, planting a delicate kiss on his cheek. nothing else mattered to her expect marco and she knew her boyfriend reciprocated the feeling. marco pulled bella into a hug, allowing themselves to escape into another world, completely forgetting about the people who were now flooding back into the kitchen. until her hand fell upon something hard (that wasn’t marco’s ‘friend’).
“marco, what’s this?”
in such a small amount of time, marco was quickly taken back down to the ground. in bella’s hand, was the small black box he had been carrying earlier. everyone in the room had gone silent, watching with baited breath at the scene that was unfolding. marco was speechless, which didn’t help him in the situation.
“marco, can you say something please?” bella whispered into his ear, stroking the side of his face.
the small strokes along his face brought down marco’s anxiety levels, reminding him that he wasn’t alone. as he stared into bella’s eyes, maroc could feel himself relaxing. bella has that effect in him; when marco would become stressed, bella would always be able to bring him back to a state of calm. marco rubbed the back of his neck, realising how awkward he made isco’s party.
he took the box from bella’s hand and got down onto one knee. but when he watched bella’s confused face become even confused, marco rushed back up to his feet, smoothing down his shirt. just as he was about to say anything, marco got heckled by one of his teammates.
“hurry up marco!”
marco looked over and glared at isco, who had received a slap around the back of the head from his wife. marco took another deep breath and finally said what he’d been waiting what seemed like a lifetime to say.
“i know you don’t like labels, so will you be my married-person-thing?”
marco could feel the oxygen levels drop in the room, his throat going dry and his palms becoming sweaty. bella pulled on his heartstrings even when she didn’t mean to. god, she was breathtaking.
“of course i’ll be your married-person-thing!”
at first, marco was shocked. he didn’t actually expect his very casual proposal to work but there he was, looking his fiancée in the eye. marco smiled, a stupidly happy smile crossed his face. he pulled bella into a sweet kiss, holding onto her face, wishing he’d never have to pull away.
the small diamond sparkled in the nightlight, but not like bella’s eyes. those eyes that he could fall in love with all over again and never get bored. marco would gladly stare into those beautiful eyes all day. but in that moment, marco could’ve sworn that he had found infinity in those deep brown eyes.
six years is a long time to be in love. marco thought.
but it’s worth it.

Manchester United vs. Manchester City best bets: Betting odds, tips and picks for Premier League derby
The Manchester derby is always a fascinating battle between two global heavyweights, but the latest edition will feature some added intrigue based on the timing of the showdown.
Saturday’s meeting at Old Trafford (8:30 a.m. ET) for Matchday 11 of the English Premier League season is the third in a series of three matches that were reported to be critical for the job security of Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His Red Devils beat Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday (3-0) and then came away with a 2-2 road draw at Atalanta on Tuesday to stay atop their Champions League group.
Manchester United (5th, 17 points) can next catch its intra-city rivals in the Premier League standings with a home win and stay in the thick of the race for the title heading into the November international break for World Cup qualifiers. A win would allow Solskjaer to keep working in relative serenity during the following two weeks in preparation for a year-end run of matches that will pose a stern test.
MORE: Man United’s full season schedule & highlights
But Solskjaer, who will be without influential midfielder Paul Pogba due to suspension, has some injury headaches to deal with ahead of the big match against the Red Devils’ rivals. Star center back Raphael Varane is out for up to a month with a hamstring injury, and fellow defender Victor Lindelof has a knock that kept him out of the midweek match against Atalanta. Whether Lindelof is available could significantly impact Manchester United’s tactical approach.
Man City also sits atop its Champions League group after a big midweek win against Club Brugge, but it’s coming off a Premier League home loss to Crystal Palace and penalty-shootout elimination in the League Cup (Carabao Cup) to West Ham United. Pep Guardiola’s men will be desperate not to lose more ground to Chelsea and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.
Below are three ways to bet this game, preceded by the basic odds and TV/streaming information. All odds courtesy of DraftKings.
How to watch Manchester United vs. Manchester City
Date: Saturday, Nov. 6
Time: 8:30 a.m. ET
TV Channels: NBCSN
Spanish-language TV: Telemundo, Universo
Streaming: fuboTV, DAZN (CA)
The match from Old Trafford will be carried in English (NBCSN) and Spanish (Telemundo, Universo) in the USA.
All three of those channels can be streamed on fuboTV, which offers a free 7-day trial for new users. In Canada, the English Premier League is available exclusively, live and on-demand, on DAZN. And DAZN offers new customers a 30-day free trial period.
Manchester United vs. Manchester City betting odds
Moneyline: Man United +380 / Draw +310 / Man City -145
Spread (Asian Handicap): Man United +0.5 (+125) / Man City -0.5 (-140)
O/U 2.5 total goals (Asian totals): Over -165 / Under +140
Both Teams To Score: Yes -175 / No +135
Man City is the betting favorite on the road against its rival and a top-five team. The negative press around Man United, the criticism of Solskjaer and the Ronaldo-dependency are all likely factors leading to this kind of line taking shape.
The early betting also projects that it will be a high-scoring game and that both teams find the back of the net.
Pick: Man United double chance win/tie (+125)
Manchester City will go into Old Trafford and dictate possession. That’s just what Guardiola’s team does. And that would probably suit Solskjaer (below) and Manchester United just fine.

The Red Devils have looked more comfortable when they can sit back, stay compact, absorb pressure and counterattack. We saw this to be the case last weekend against Tottenham, and they did not allow Spurs to have a shot on target for the entire match.
MORE: Updated Champions League group standings
Between last season and the current one, Manchester United has a 8W-2L-4D record in Premier League matches during which it holds less than 50 percent of possession. The only two losses (vs. Tottenham and Liverpool) were conditioned by red cards that left Man United down to 10 men.
So while most money on this game will be siding with the reigning Premier League champions Man City, the above trend is screaming for a contrarian play: Manchester United at +125 for a win or tie … at home.
Pick: Man City Under 1.5 total team goals (+130)
If you’re on board with the premise that the match sets up favorably for Man United, then the opponent’s goal total makes for a potentially interesting bet.
Two of those 14 Premier League matches with less than 50 percent possession for Manchester United came last season against Man City. And the Red Devils earned shutouts in both matches: a 2-0 win and a 0-0 draw. Still think Man City is too good not to nick at least a goal? The Under 1.5 Man City team total is available at plus money.
It’d be a surprise if Solskjaer didn’t have Man United in a 5-3-2 (or 3-5-2) formation for the third straight match. He had to abandon it on Tuesday against Atalanta after Varane went down to injury. Without Lindelof available, Solskjaer opted to revert to a 4-2-3-1 after he subbed for Varane. If Lindelof recovers for Saturday’s match (and all indications are that it was a minor issue), then the 3-5-2 is back on the table with Eric Bailly, Lindelof and Harry Maguire.

Pick: Cristiano Ronaldo two or more shots on target (+150)
Ronaldo (above) relishes the big games and his first home derby match since his return to Man United is a massive occasion. And if the game in fact turns into a counterattacking exercise for the home team, the hard-running Ronaldo should excel in the open field. That makes two or more shots on target at +150 a tempting bet.
But there’s an argument to be made that if Man United go with a 3-5-2, the presence of Edinson Cavani alongside Ronaldo at forward could potentially take away opportunities from the Portuguese superstar. Then again, they worked so well together against Tottenham that they could also create more opportunities to share. Ronaldo has been on an island for much of the season and he came alive with Cavani attracting some of the defensive attention.
MORE: Why Cristiano Ronaldo left Juventus for Man United
Additionally, Ronaldo should see significant minutes. The match is likely to be a tight affair, and it’s hard to see Solskjaer pulling the 36-year-old off the field unless they’re on the wrong end of a Man City thrashing. With an international break coming up, there’s no need to save up Ronaldo for upcoming matches.
One last statistical point: In the 10 matches he has started for Man United, Ronaldo has two or more shots on target on six occasions, per FBref stats. That clip is enough to deserve a flyer.

Chelsea cruise at Spurs, De Gea and Lingard star in Man Utd win
Tumblr media
Chelsea powered to the top of the Premier League with an impressive 3-0 win at Tottenham, while David de Gea saved a stoppage-time penalty to preserve Manchester United's 2-1 victory at West Ham after Jesse Lingard returned to haunt his old club on Sunday.
On an emotional day in north London, Chelsea and Tottenham paid tribute to their former striker Jimmy Greaves, who died aged 81 on Sunday.
In a moving tribute, several former Tottenham greats, including Greaves' old team-mate Martin Chivers, lined up on the touchline to join both teams and the 62,000 crowd in a minute's applause.
It was Chelsea who showed the predatory instincts that made Greaves Tottenham's record scorer with 266 goals in 379 appearances between 1961 and 1970.
Greaves started his career with a prolific spell at Chelsea and netted 44 times in 57 appearances for England, featuring in their 1966 World Cup-winning squad.
He would have admired the ruthless way Chelsea killed off their London rivals.
Thiago Silva put Chelsea ahead with a 49th minute header before N'Golo Kante netted with a long-range effort that deflected off Eric Dier eight minutes later.
Kante's first club goal since December 2019 was followed by Antonio Rudiger's fine low finish in stoppage-time.
Thomas Tuchel's unbeaten side sit top of the Premier League after winning four of their first five games, while Tottenham have suffered two successive top-flight defeats.
Chelsea have only conceded one league goal so far this season despite a tricky fixture list that featured trips to Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal.
"I was absolutely not happy with the first 45 minutes," Tuchel said. "I had the feeling we wanted to impress by pure skills.
"In derbies like this it is not always about just skills. It is about aggression and winning duels
"We spoke clearly about it at half-time. In the second half it was a very good performance and a deserved win."
At the London Stadium, West Ham boss David Moyes, who tried to re-sign Lingard after his successful loan spell last season, saw the United substitute curl in the 89th minute winner.
Tumblr media
There was still time for heart-stopping drama when VAR ruled United defender Luke Shaw had handled the ball in the area.
Moyes sent on club captain Mark Noble to take the spot-kick but De Gea leapt to his left to keep it out, prompting wild scenes of celebration from the United players when the final whistle blew seconds later.
It was the United keeper's first penalty save since April 2016, ending a run of 40 successive spot-kicks faced for club and country without a save, including shoot-outs.
Lingard's goal was welcome redemption for the England forward, whose woeful back-pass gifted Swiss side Young Boys a 2-1 Champions League win against United in midweek.
"I had a good time at West Ham but I have to move on and do my best with Man United," Lingard said after securing his side's fourth win in five league games this term.
West Ham took the lead in the 30th minute when Said Benrahma's effort from the edge of the box took a huge deflection off Raphael Varane and completely wrong-footed De Gea.

The goal galvanised the visitors and they were level just five minutes later, with Cristiano Ronaldo poking the ball past Lukasz Fabianski after the goalkeeper had saved his initial shot following a Bruno Fernandes cross.
It was Ronaldo's fourth goal in three games since the Portugal star's return to United from Juventus.
After the dramatic finale, Moyes defended his decision to hand penalty duties to Noble, usually rock-solid from the spot.
"We got a penalty kick and I have one of the best penalty takers in the Premier League and Europe," he said.
"I think if I hadn't made the decision I'd have been more annoyed with myself."
Brighton maintained their surprisingly strong start, beating Leicester 2-1 to move up to fourth place.
Neal Maupay scored a first-half penalty and Brighton doubled their lead through Danny Welbeck early in the second half.
Jamie Vardy scored his 150th goal in all competitions for Leicester but it was not enough to rescue a point.

Big Weekend: Liverpool v Chelsea, Bruce, Arsenal, Old Firm derby
Tumblr media
We really are being buttered up before the international break. Two huge Premier League games, a couple of derbies…. and Nemanja Matic. Game to watch – Liverpool v Chelsea Only two matchdays in, we have already had a few fixtures that have triggered the senses. Especially with full stadiums being a thing once more. But Chelsea’s trip to Liverpool is the first Premier League match of the season to really grab your balls and give them a big, vice-like squeeze. Both clubs have had serene starts to the season, with each scoring five goals in two wins and neither defence having been breached. For Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel, the confidence must be flowing and we can only hope each manager buzzes off it ahead of kick-off at Anfield. There are intriguing match-ups all over the pitch, but the headline-grabber must be Romelu Lukaku, readjusting to the Premier League, against Virgil van Dijk, acclimatising to playing football again. Lukaku was given a comfortable reintroduction on his Chelsea debut last week, being allowed by a patchwork Arsenal defence to take eight shots on Bernd Leno’s goal. Van Dijk won’t afford the Belgian the same privilege. Watching Lukaku attempt to pin Van Dijk around the box will be one of the highlights of the bank holiday weekend. Elsewhere, will Reece James be granted the freedom to make Andrew Robertson’s head spin like he did with the Liverpool defender’s Scotland team-mate Kieran Tierney last week? Can Liverpool’s front three highlight the need for Tuchel to recruit another centre-back before Tuesday? Both Klopp and Tuchel could justify a pragmatic approach with the intention of taking a point to maintain some momentum going into the two-week hiatus. But if both choose to be bold – and each has good reason to be – we could have an early-season classic to ease us into the worst international break of them all. Cheeky tips Son and Sterling to score but Man Utd to draw  Team to watch – Arsenal Before the main event on Saturday night, the matinee holds plenty of intrigue. And perhaps a little less fear for Mikel Arteta than he might have been feeling before Wednesday night. The Gunners went to West Brom in the Carabao Cup after a couple of miserable league defeats to face the buoyant Baggies. But Valerien Ismael did Arteta a huge favour by making 11 changes and fielding six full debutants, all of whom handed Arsenal safer passage than they must have been expecting. Can they take that morale boost and turn it into something tangible at Manchester City on Saturday lunchtime? Not likely. Certainly not if you give any credence to the odds – the Gunners are currently 12/1 to win on Saturday lunchtime. You can see why. Arsenal’s defending has been wretched and their biggest summer signing, Ben White, is again set to miss out at the Emirates. They could have a young goalkeeper minding their net on his Premier League debut for the club and a right-back dealing with Jack Grealish all the while knowing he might be replaced before deadline on Tuesday. Up front, though, Arteta tinkered against West Brom and Arsenal fans can only hope he resists the temptation to revert back. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang through the middle and Martin Odegaard in a central role off the front man, both looked far more comfortable – Aubameyang especially. Will Arteta hold his nerve against his former club? Top ten weird moments of the Premier League season so far Manager to watch – Steve Bruce For almost any other other manager, Newcastle’s home clash with Southampton would be must-win. The supporters were already calling for Bruce’s head in pre-season and since the Premier League kicked off, the Magpies are pointless from two matches having also being bundled out of the Carabao Cup by Burnley. “We haven’t lost on the night,” said Bruce, but his faux optimism is fooling no-one. The Newcastle boss cut a lonely figure before and during the shoot-out and another defeat to Saints will leave Bruce even more isolated, even if Mike Ashley will do all he can to avoid cutting him adrift. It won’t help that Saints are buoyant. After taking a point from Manchester United last week, they smashed eight past Newport on Wednesday night. That was without Adam Armstrong, their big summer signing who returns to Newcastle desperate to show his former club what they are missing after they sold him to Blackburn in 2018 for £2million. Armstrong also banked the Toon another £6million courtesy of a sell-on clause activated when Rovers sold him to Saints in the summer. Money they could use to pay off Bruce if Newcastle go into the international break on the back of another disheartening defeat in front of a dissenting St James’ Park. Player to watch – Nemanja Matic Manchester United badly need a midfielder. But Manchester United almost certainly won’t sign a midfielder. So with Scott McTominay on the sidelines after a groin operation, now is Matic’s time to shine. It has been a very good window so far for United with the signings of Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho. But the seemingly inevitable refusal to strengthen their midfield will leave half the job undone by the time 11pm Tuesday comes around. So between a solid defence and a scary-looking attack, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will likely have to make do with a plodding midfield. One capable of neither screening nor creating. Matic will do most of the protection job and one man he will have to stop is Ruben Neves, who looks tailor-made to add some dynamism to United’s engine room. Of course, Solskjaer could give Donny van de Beek a game. Crazy talk, we know… Man Utd way down ranking of Premier League double pivots EFL game to watch – Derby v Nottingham Forest Forest may be unbeaten in their last eight East Midlands derbies but they go to Pride Park on Saturday lunchtime in utterly wretched form. Chris Hughton’s side are rock bottom of the table and pointless after four defeats in their opening four games of the Championship season. The Carabao Cup brought no respite – they were humped 4-0 at Wolves. The rot started at the end of last season. Not since April 5 have Forest won in the Championship – a run that stretches to ten matches. An 11th in El Cloughico could spell the end for Hughton. Wayne Rooney’s Rams are in a rather better frame of mind after a win and a couple of draws to start their league season. But Derby are better than most when it comes to shooting themselves in the foot. It might not be pretty…
Tumblr media
European game to watch – Rangers v Celtic There aren’t many games on the continent that set the pulse racing in anticipation before the weekend. Sure, settle in for Reims v PSG on Sunday evening when Lionel Messi could make his debut in perhaps the only game we could see him, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe play together in the same attack. The first Old Firm derby of the season, though, seems the most intriguing match this weekend beyond these borders. Not since December 2019 have Rangers and Celtic gone into battle in a packed arena and both have grounds for optimism. Rangers have won five of the last six meetings while Celtic go to Ibrox on the back of consecutive 6-0 victories while Ange Postecoglou gets his feet under the table at Parkhead. Even if the game is sh*te – which it almost certainly won’t be – the sight and sound of a bouncing Ibrox alone will be worth tuning in for. Read the full article
