Not sure if you're still doing headcanons, but I was wondering if I can hear your takes on Rainer?

Sure thing!! I love Rainer a bunch actually I really should think about him more.. lol.. Anyways! - He's enby! He changed his name from Daniel to Rainer and I hc him to use they/he/it! :} (Honestly baller name to change ur name to) - For some reason kids seem to like them even if they aren't too big of a fan of being around little kids, Mike and Care would beg them to play with Littlest Pet shop toys. They usually gave in. - Out of all the pets made in Petscop, Randice was his least favorite. They don't even know why they just hated it for no damn reason while making Randice. - They mostly did things in the dark, anytime you'd enter his room the blinds would be shut. - Rainer is the world's most unorganized person, though for some reason they always know where everything is in said unorganized madness. - I think they'd be good at ping pong, no reason for me to think this, I just think they would. - Rainer was usually the one to help Mike pass hard levels in video games, Mike would always call them a wizard for this. - Them and Care got along pretty well when they were around each other, they liked listening to her talk about whatever. - Last but not least!!! Rainer hates milk!! Don't give him that shit he will gag and probably insult you for doing so!!

the doors in evencare are really interesting to me. the first time we're told paul cant open doors, its on the door that just so happens to be the door that leads DIRECTLY out into the newmaker plane. its the only door in evencare thats closed off to him. the only way paul is able to access the newmaker plane is by walking all the way to the end of the building, inputing a code, and then leaving out the door clear on the other side.

to me this could be two things. a metaphor for rainer guiding the narrative, or to make paul wait.

the game does this a lot, and i mean. considering how hasty paul is, it makes a lot of sense. he has to wait for the cellar door to open on its own, he has to watch the windmill for 2 and a half hours, waiting for the child library to take him to a room, waiting for the door of the house to open, waiting in the closet for marvin to capture care A. that ones especially interesting since he even says he knows what the game wants him to do. hes well aware of his own haste, and seems to be a big agitated when hes forced to slow down.

i truly believe the game wasnt just made for marvin. it eventually became something for care, whos paul now. he may have been aware of his haste and set it up to force him to wait, in turn forcing him to really understand all the little details, and discrepancies. i mean, paul doesnt even realize the wording on signs in evencare change to strip the pets of their personhood. it felt like a sort of test for him. a test he failed.

I think Petscop is really cool because it doesn’t have an explanation. Or at least, not one that we’ll ever be given in full likelihood. After all, wouldn’t doing so defeat the purpose of the series itself?

At the end of the day, we are spectators to something that does not concern us. The only people Petscop is concerned with are those who receive the disk: the people who Rainer desperately needs—or needed—to contact. These are the people who know the family, can solve puzzles based on their family knowledge, and who could possibly save others from enduring the tragedies that befell Michael and Care.

For Tony to explain any of it to us in detail would be counter to the narrative of the series. Even if Paul wanted to explain the reasoning behind his decisions in the videos, he can’t. The family doesn’t want him to, and go so far as to censor vital clues that would help solve this immense puzzle.

It’s important to remember that Petscop is an unfiction series, not an ARG. Throughout its original run, the community had zero bearing on the events of the story, and nothing was ever confirmed aside from a few tiny details Tony wanted to clarify (such as his regret surrounding the Candace Newmaker reference.)

ARGs have clues. They demand viewer involvement to uncover the full narrative. Coming hot off the heels of game a series like FNaF, which DID have ARG elements, led viewers of Petscop to think this puzzle had a solution.

In truth, everything was already set in stone. After all, some things you can’t rewrite.

I’ve watched through the entirety of Petscop so many times that I’ve lost count. But in my frustration over failing to solve it, I found beauty in its mystery. Is it an analogy for being trans? For child abuse and indoctrination? For gaslighting? For DID, and the complex trauma that caused it? For separating yourself from a family that could only do you harm? For the devastating power of delusion in the mind of a caretaker? Hell, was Paul even meant to find the disk to begin with?

We don’t know the answers to any of these questions, and that’s okay. If Petscop resonated with you on any of those fronts, or even some that I haven’t considered myself, then I think that’s a good thing.

As far as I’m concerned, unless I have a sudden epiphany, the answer doesn’t matter. I’ll just try to take any lesson from it that I can.

I HAVE SO SO MANY I APOLOGIZE IF THIS IS TOO MANY. I also love it bc unlike eckvanet petscops actually FINISHED so i get to look at it so hard with my eyeballs and take it really in. its so good

So I'm a STRONG believer that Paul is Care. I don't think theres any timeline funkiness or overlapping thats happening, I also don't think they were ever seperate entities at all. Paul is simply .... just Care. She grew up to be a man, and due to Pauls repressed memories he was unable to figure out if Care was meant to be him until he found his room, with the flower vase. And thats why it unsettled him so badly to find- it was the vase used by his own father to abuse him. I think a lot of Pauls confusion or lack of understanding that Care is MEANT to be him is due to his own repressed memories, but also because petscop is a game. We have no idea if care or carrie was ever actually his name, especially when considering Rainer is not actually Rainers name either. Its Daniel. I also think the trans coding in petscop is very prominent with rhe idea of care, a scrappy boyish cursing girl who acted strange and pulled out her own eyebrows was attempting to be reborn as a little girl named Lina who is very feminine looking and exclusively depicted in pink. Marvin says that Care cursing is "disturbing" despite both Marvin and Daniel being big swearers. I also think Petscop perfectly encapsulates the feeling of being a trans person abd coming across a pre transition save file on one of ur old childhood games. I also think the voice actor of Paul is also very telling. I may be rude for assuming, but he sounds like he has the transmasc rasp. Its really hard for me to make sense of anything else, except for Paul being transgender.

I think that Lina never died. I don't think anyone ever knew what happened to Lina, but one thing I think about all the time is in the petscop ost video released as the final video, when Belle spells out "boss" in the playstation text chat feature she never actually spells boss. She spells Lina. which leaves me to think that, maybe, Lina and Anna were able to get Belle and Paul into their own custody, and ran away together after the events of Rainers death.

I think that Rainer was deeply involved with the rebirth of Care and Belle. Like. Deeply. In fact I think he initially went in with plans of finding Mike, before even realizing that Marvin was responsible for Mikes disfigurement and death. I don't think Marvin meant to kill Lina, and I don't even know if he did, but I think blindsided by his own madness he ended up hitting Mike and his puppy with his car. And thats where Marvin really took a turn, becoming even more obsessed, and I'd assume that perhaps thats what lead Rainer to hate the process of rebirthing. I"d need to rewatch before i fully commit to this idea though.

I also think that the "Tiara" thing is not as important as it was meant to be in the begining. Early in petscop they set up alegories to a real life true crime case about Candice Newmaker, and there are tons of references to it until ep 10, when the creator said he regretted including it because matpat took the metaphors too seriously and assumed that petscop was about the real true crime case. the creator stopped all references. Which means that Tiara/Belles character had to go through a lot of changes.

What I interpret about the Tiara Belle thing is that.... Belle was eventually adopted in hopes to find Lina, and that Care may have ACTUALLY been for Rainer to rebirth into Mike. I really think that may be the case. I think that they were attempting to rename Belle to Tiara after adopting her to make her "part of the family" (the name also ties back to Linas femininity) and I think something happened along the way- possibly Mikes death, that made Rainer retract calling her Tiara. He lost interest in the rebirthing process and therefor lost faith in all of Marvin's choices, like renaming Belle.

I think its important to remember that the real life connections to Candice Newmaker were retconned, so any ties to the original story whatever they were going to become, never flourished and were taken out. I wont be calling Belle Tiara because of this, especially because of how much the case actually means to me as a childhood abuse and autism activist. Or as someone who identifies as an activist LOL

I think that mental illness is a HUGE IMPORTANT thing to talk about in petscop that I almost never see brought up. Theres some pretty direct references to trichotillomania, but I'd argue it infects every one of the family members. Rainer clearly to me develops some sort of psychosis just based on how his ramblings sound, they're very "word salad" to me, not to mention his christmad suicide. Marvins also clearly not well, honedtly, I find him more fascinating than William Afton because I genuinely DONT think he started off with bad intents. he was only a kid when Lina "died" and I think it really screwed him up and scared him! I think he lived with that on his back the entire time he was growing up and it would follow him too, as a young kid who was the only witness. And I dont think he ever meant to hit Mike ever, but felt rhe need to hide what he did because of his already dodgy past. I think hes so fascinating. Many of the pets in petscop are mentioned to have like personal needs that are strange, or emblematic of mental health issues as well. I think it runs deep in their family.

I think pauls autistic but i think everyone does. ITS SO FUNNY I LOVE HIM BC I ALSO SPIN AS A STIM... ME TOO MAN!!

I don't think the games haunted, instead i think it falls into the same sort of almost supernatural, but not really sort of vibes as paul himself does. i think a better word id use is "psychic." but also not really? i think rainer worked hard on making ai replicas of everyone who played the game, or at least, almost everyone. The Marvin, Belle, and other guardians we see in game aren't actually the ghosts of those people, but Ai built around how those people play the game.

god petscop 22 is so good. extended paul/belle conversation. the car gag. paul getting hit by a car instantly after. paul saying he's not recording but us seeing his gameplay anyway. belle no longer talking as her avatar comes on screen. the repeated looking to stage left. trying to get paul's attention to something not happening in the game. the demo mode loading screen with marvin's face on it. the school footage briefly showing a different newmaker avatar before the counselor's office is entered. "you can pick any game you want, and we can play it together". "accident". "graverobber." placing the windmill and the graves around it. calling martin out. the callback to the savefile name. the shovel being the same as rainer's. the references to cursing. the helping speech. paul instantly quitting after. Dating Rainer Hammond Headcanons

☔ Rainer definitely seems like a romantic type. I mean, we don't really see him talking romance in Petscop but we do see through his writing for the game that he can get poetic when he wants to be.

☔ Point is, he would make no secret of his adoration for you. Happily describing how much he loves every part of you. Calling you his sweetheart, his dearest, and being very protective over you.

☔ He's also a huge dork. And initially he'd be a little shy of sharing his writing and game coding stuff with you but after a bit of encouragement he'd be all too happy to do so, often even going to you for help if you'd be willing. A lot of which tends to be caused by Rainer's own perfectionism.

☔ He's also prone to overwork himself when focused on a game and you'll have to drag him into bed. But luckily you know the secret to getting him to take a break. (It's kisses.)

☔ "Dear, I need to finish this level…" A few minutes of making out later. "Mmmf… I s-suppose I could take a quick break…"
