if you’ve been lucky enough to see him live, you’ll know jamie muscato has one of those voices that has a lot more to it in person than in recordings. I think this song is the closest any recording has ever gotten to what he actually sounds like. brilliant cover anyway but it showcases his voice so well
This announcement makes no sense. Has anyone ever seen a second series of a show announced without even mentioning the protagonist and lead actress of the first series?
It could be that they’re deliberately keeping quiet so as not to spoil whether Leila returns or not, but given they don’t even tease it, and the quote from Ciaran McMenamin doesn’t mention her either, I doubt it.
It looks like Finn will be the protagonist for series 2 which is fine*, except it obliterates the entire premise of the show, which was Asian police woman moves to small town in Northern Ireland.
Obviously Amara Karan could’ve chosen not to return, and fair play to her if she did.
But the premise of the show is still outsider moves to small town, and that’s not Finn.
The show should’ve been Leila’s journey, but if for whatever reason she isn’t going to be in series 2 then a new character should’ve been brought in to replace her, and series 2 should’ve been their journey.
*It’s not fine if the protagonist has changed from an Asian woman to a white man.
Taking race/gender out of the argument for a moment. If you look at a show like Death in Paradise, after Ben Miller left they replaced him with Kris Marshall to keep the premise going.
And while I will probably still tune in, if series 2 has Finn and Siobhan getting back together, I’m out. One of the things I liked about series 1 was that they should Finn and Siobhan really should not be married to each other. They should really those exes who get on really well.
Series 1 was great but I suspect series 2 will be a poor follow-up.

Something something I had a crush on a girl in my class and I didn't know how to deal with it so I wrote her a letter that just said "get out of my school"

We stood side by side on the upper deck of the small passenger ferry. The November wind whipped my hair around and I shivered in the cold. He placed his hand over mine on the railing and, without turning, asked quietly,
“Are you sure you wouldn’t like to go downstairs where it’s warm?
I stared out at the steely water, squinting in the sunlight.
“That’s the whole point,” I…
