omg ive seen this same shit in a completely different game, where ppl get like "no she IS a LESBIAN" despite her canonically liking men, the biphobia really jumps out in some bitches when they try to use compet as the ONLY reason a queer woman would like or even LOVE and marry a man. MEN ARE HOT, BI WOMEN LIKE MEN AND ARE STILL QUEER.
Queer identity in media been so limited for so long that when you finally see it, it can be both beautiful and painful to see something you relate to, but not who you are on screen. Queer experiences overlap constantly but that overlap can highlight the differences when you're given so little.
Like, just using lesbians and bi women:
Some lesbians never date men. Some date both men and women. Some date men for their whole life.
Some bi women never date men. Some date both men and women. Some date men for their whole life.
You can see where different queer women would relate to a character who's attracted to women and has dated a man, but just because there's a relation doesn't invalidate the differences where a bisexual women would be attracted to men but a lesbian woman wouldn't. It's something people at large need to be more accepting of recognising different queer identities even within the same labels.

Yasopp and Banchina actually being in a lavender marriage is so good thematically. I mean- Usopp's whole thing is lying, right? And we know Banchina loved Yasopp despite becoming a pirate to follow his dream. In fact, she just admired him more for that. But if you add this layer of,, Yasopp being gay and repressed during most of his life and lying to himself to the point of needing an escape when Usopp is born because he doesn't want to be the type of father that lies to his kid,, Then it. it just gets better.
Like- It gives you an even stronger reason for Yasopp to leave and for Banchina to admire him and it adds this scene of Yasopp coming out to Usopp when they meet again. And it might not be like. Surprising or anything for Usopp because queerness is something Usopp is very open to, thank you very much (being the 19 y/o bisexual boy that he definitely is). But it does give Yasopp more room to explain himself and open up and be free of the burden he carries. And it's not like Usopp resents him because he doesn't seem to do so, like, at all. But he definitely has had issues with his father leaving.
And the whole lavender marriage thing is a whole mix of lies, learning to be yourself, opening up, and being brave. And so while Yasopp was going on a journey to discover himself and be free, Usopp was doing the same for a different reason. And idk, I think it makes everything just a little tiny bit better.

I love seeing pictures of like a fictional character or a real person or whatever, and going "I'm not attracted to them but I know that people who are must be going CRAZY over this"

i’ve been a trans content creator across many different platforms for four years now. and every time i jumped on a new platform, i used to have the same naive hope that i’d find a place on the internet where trans people are safe. but it’s never safe. there isn’t any platform that i’ve been on that i haven’t faced harassment and where my friends and others like me haven’t been unjustly banned.
the first reaction that i had to seeing the stuff about prestrogen was “ah here we go again”. and that’s such a jaded response. and it’s so easy to feel defeated because i’m furious and i’m tired.
but also i think it’s important to remind myself (and anyone else who needs to hear it) that every time i’ve seen this happen, along with the understandable and justified outrage of the trans community, i have also seen incredible resilience and solidarity from both the queer community and from allies.
we should be angry. but we also need to remember that love and support within the community IS resistance. and it’s every bit as powerful and important as righteous fury.
dont isolate yourself. take care of yourself but also check in on your friends.
im mostly telling myself but also im sure some one else needs to remember this too.

You know nothing about the situation, mayeb you should come to gaza and see how they treat lgbtq+ members?
How fucking dare you.
When I say nothing excuses genocide, I mean nothing. I don't give a shit if homophobia is rampant there. Children and so many more are DYING. How can you not grasp that?
Homophobia exists everywhere, but it is not in everyone. Generalizing a whole population for the discrimination of a certain demographic is irresponsible and close minded. Those children that are crying for their dead mothers did not call us slurs. Those premature babies that by now have died because there's nothing to power their incubators didn't do shit to us. Even if they did? NOBODY deserves this.
And what of the victims of that discrimination? Our queer brothers and sisters who feared to love openly now no longer having the chance to love at all?
If you care so much about the state of the queer people in Palestine then why are you leaving them to die as well? Because that's not what you care about. Because that sympathy and solidarity only applies to those you deem human enough, right? The rest is abandoned.
Don't you dare justify your bloodlust by mentioning this community. Say with your whole chest how you really feel. And do that without the veil of anonymity. The Zionist Israeli in my comments and DMs on Instagram at the very least cussed me out to my face. Let everyone know who you are and what you truly stand for. Unless you are ashamed. Because you should be and you better be.
