I like to think all the main four (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy) are protective over eachother in a way.

They're all protective over Tails of course, the youngest, their little brother. They won't stop him from throwing an explosive at you if you're an asshole but if you do or say something that gets his ears to fold down the slightlest you have exactly 5 seconds to run.

Amy can easily squash her hammer at any creepy guy that comes to her, but why waste her breath when her 3 boys will gladly hunt him down? They all give Amy princess treatment aside from the usual friendly taunting and I will die on this hill.

We all know Sonic has a tendency to run into situations without thinking. Tails, Knuckles and Amy sometimes have to straight up go on babysitter mode in the middle of the battle to make sure their spiky blue friend doesn't run straight into a pit full of spikes or something. Also, add the fact that Sonic has been stated to be "too trusting" sometimes and how his belief that everyone has a little good in them and deserves a second chance can bite him in the butt. Sure, Sonic might have granted you his trust, but that doesn't mean his three less-trusting-more-logical teamates won't look you dead in the eye and warn you and I quote: "break his trust and we'll break your back."

Now as for Knuckles, we know he's the oldest, strongest and most serious of the group, but we all know years of isolation led him to have the naivety of a child. Some folks might think that seeing the red echidna around is the perfect opportunity to use their scamming tricks, but oh, if only there wasn't a speedy hedgehog, an 8yo carrying guns and a girl with a giant hammer hanging around him constantly like some sort of bodyguards. The M.E's guardian going to the surface is a rare occurance, so if you dare to even THINK about ruining this with your con artist stuff, you WILL end up with a broken bone.

Because the way they all gently took care of Sonic, when he was weak, has A BIG grip on me. I know they’re from different dimensions, but even if it’s just symbolic: The way the people he protects on daily basis, who said plenty of times he inspires them, didn’t even hesitate to take care of him and save him… I am not normal about this.

Static thrummed in the hedgehogs limbs, a heavy vibration under cobalt fur weighing him down like lead. Ice scorched through his veins. It was so cold, almost cold enough to burn, but he could not fall to the corruption. No. Not yet. They needed him.

He clutched to the remnants of his memories with shaking hands, yet pieces slipped through like sand. Sonic had to remember. He couldn’t forget who he was doing this for. Amy. Knuckles.

Tails.

The thought of his little brother drove a surge of determination through his core, fire temporarily beating back the ice sludge in his blood. Sonic was dying. He could feel it. Still, he’d rather let the cyber corruption rend his body limb from limb as it fought to with this world to drag him into cyber space. Rather allow the Guardians to crush him underfoot. Rather have his very soul torn from his body. Anything but letting his friends, his family, his brother down.

The End could kill him, he wouldn’t begrudge them that. But he’d tear apart the very reality they lay in, destroy the gods themselves, before he allowed anyone to harm his family.

Sonic kept walking.

the thing about sonic prime is that sometimes it feels like the shatterspace variants really did have a lot of thought put into them and theyre meant to represent different aspects of the characters personalities or what they would be like if they didnt have a certain trait or a certain trait was exaggerated to an extreme degree. and other times it feels like the writers put zero thought into what they were doing and nothing really means anything. or at least doesnt mean anything on purpose

Maybe I’m wrong but from The looks of it the sonic fanbase just didn’t like Amy making the moves. And half of y’all would still hate Amy’s guts if she was overtly fawning over sonic and if sonic ended up actually having a more positive reaction to her crush Instead. from what I’m seeing which might be wrong y’all just wanted Sonic to be more domineering and Amy to be more subservient and watered down. I don’t hate Amy’s new characterization at all but some of the takes I’ve seen just give off this vibe to me. We can talk about Amy’s flaws sure but Amy being open, truthful, and passionate about sonic being her hero isn’t one of them. Once again I’m open to being wrong but damn like what’s wrong with being a fangirl?

Amy managing to get through Shadow's fake misanthropic feelings and reminding him of Maria through her optimism and belief in everyone's goodness is a classic, of course.

But I think I'll go for her defending Gamma against Sonic. She stood between Sonic, her friend and childhood hero and crush, and Gamma, a robot she met a few hours earlier who wanted to take the birdie away (and, in Gamma's story, nearly killed Sonic). That is insanely brave of her! And she did it because that one Eggman robot showed her mercy once, and proved himself to be more than a simple machine under Eggman's orders. That was enough to give her the courage to tell Sonic to stop. And Sonic doesn't understand why Amy got sentimental all of the sudden, but she trusts her enough to do as she asked.

And she says they are friends now ;A; and she promises they'd meet again ;A; but they don't ;A; but Gamma's birdie can be seen in the Last Story with her ;A; ;A; ;A;

knuckles is the least protective over him. he knows tails can protect himself just as well s the others, though he does still keep an eye on him during fights.

when it comes to people bullying him however, he’s more than happy to step and lend a hand with getting rid of them :)

amy is in a similar stance as knuckles. she knows how strong tails is (and how he can be if he’s pushed) but he’s still only eight so goddamnit she’s gonna hover a little bit to keep him safe

anyone who dares attempts to bully him with her near earns a very lengthy lecture + a large bump on their head ^^

sonic has seen everything tails has built. he knows what that kid is capable of, but he also knows how big of a target that makes him. not to mention being sonic’s little brother, so sue him for being protective but he wants him safe

if you attempt to bully tails with sonic around, you’re an idiot. it didn’t work well for the first people who tried, it won’t work for anyone else.

shadow could care less if tails can take care of himself or not. he already lost one little blonde kid with blue eyes, he’s not going to lose another one.
