sometimes when they're trying to appeal to people with obvious moral objections (like, "isn't an infinite capacity for mercy incompatible with torturing people for all eternity?"), some christians will be like, well, we don't know that god doesn't save everyone. you are allowed to admit the faint hope of universalism in the most mealy-mouth disingenuous way as long as you make it clear that the consensus position is that most people are destined for an eternity in the lake of fire or w/e
and this is pretty insulting, because it's like, how stupid do you think people are? a great deal of the produce of the christian religion specifically for the last couple millennia has been long tracts on who is going to hell and why and what horrible fates they will suffer once there; it is clear that, by and large, you do not actually believe all or even most will be saved, and the individuals and denominations that are full-throated universalists are pretty clear about it!
(and sometimes these are not the fuzzy liberal squishes you might expect--the primtive baptists are not known for their love of modern liberal values like gay marriage and in fact are an outgrowth a hardcore calvinist tradition, and even they have managed to produce the primitive baptist universalists, who managed to look critically at this hell business and be like, wait a minute, something's fishy here)

“I hate the bloody Roman civilization ( pitting slaves against each other for fun / Caesars marrying their sisters...I hate how savage the English and Spanish empires were ! What did Japan do in Singapore and Asia in general .... I ALSO hate how the ottomans created wars and enslaved women ( though they didn't force them to convert to Islam as told ) BUT I have a lil bit of wisdom to understand that those practices and those people WERE from the past ! Their mindsets were soo primtive!” - Submitted by Anonymous

leaf19 washes all Jazz away getting lost in the Beefheart'ian desert of Mik Quantius. Struggling through life Mik is literally a survival artist of his own. The streets and underground venues of Köln are normally his matchfield but one night last year shortly before X-mas he landed savely at Villa Plagwitz and moved himself through primtive rhythms, dusty keyboards and his one of a kind deep'n'dirty voice. Find out what's going on in this wonderland of joy!

The Myth of Primtivism by Susan Hiller
The Myth of Primitivism is an anthology of essays collected by Susan Hiller that scrutinises the West’s concepts of primitive art. One of the essays that I enjoyed and can see a connection to my work is Primitive Art and the Necessity of Primitivism to Art by Daniel Miller. This essay argues that primitivism is a necessity in art and discusses how primitive art has been constructed by the West.
The essay begins by explaining how paradoxical art becomes when trying to liberate or raise awareness for a cause. For example, in the nineteenth century when artists were “opposed to agents of differentiation and fragmentation” (Miller,1991). They were against monetary values so they created “handmade and non-utilitarian products” rather than using easily reproduced methods of image making. As a result, they used expensive materials and the cost of their work was exclusive to the bourgeoisie. I have observed that some of the artists that I have looked at in this project also create paradoxes as a result of their work. For example, Qamar’s pop art was intended to be subversive and empowering however by mimicking a pop art style that was moulded by the male gaze, she has created images of Indian women who have generally European facial features but are adorned in Indian jewels and makeup. So even though she is creating subversive narratives with her ethnic minority characters, she is reinforcing the “white gaze”(Fanon,1952) and male gaze” (Mulvey,1973).
In this chapter, Miller also discusses the oriental design and how it was fabricated as a connection between the UK and India. By introducing the reader to Said (1978)’s investigation into how Orientalism came to be. Said found that when Indian fabric was imported to the West the textile industry was amazed by the “greater sophistication in dyeing techniques” compared to the practices used in the West. After introducing the new fabric to the West, they found that the style of design that appeals to the Indian public does not match the ones in the UK. As a result, the UK started to produce textiles that were labeled as “Asian” to seem exotic. The designs created were projections of “what the Indians should have been making for themselves” Consequently the oriental style was birthed, and became a form of “expression of the relationship between two societies”
I found this particularly surprising as I always associated the oriental style with China rather than a cycle of negotiations between the UK and India. I think that due to the historical transnational nature of the textiles industry, it is hard to pinpoint where some inspirations came from. When I was picking a pattern for my first lino, I struggled to pick designs that were “British” other than a stripe pattern or Burberry check. Even though I was advised to use patterns like Laura Ashley’s, I hesitated because I did not have that strong association with these patterns and the UK, most likely due to the influence of other cultures on her designs. I think moving forward I will be more open-minded about the patterns that are relevant to my project because I did not previously realise how fluid the influences are across the whole world as a result of trade, globalisation, and colonisation.

Denver, Colorado's PRIMITIVE MAN unleash a filthy, malignant maelstrom of blackened doom on their debut album Scorn. Thrillingly misanthropic in their approach, PRIMITIVE MAN drench their post-apocalyptic vision of the world in waves of feedback, pummeling guitars and hopelessly frightening vocals. If a bright end of summer record is what you're in need of, run as fast as you can from PRIMTIVE MAN's Scorn—this is grade-a hateful, soul-annihilating music of the darkest order. #primitiveman #scorn #relapserecords #metal #doom #doommetal #vinyl #vinyladdict #vinyldecal #vinyljunkie #vinylpress #vinyloftheday #instavinyl #vinylpress #vinyldistribution #vinylwrap #vinylonly #grindpromotionrecords (presso Grindpromotion Records Hq) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf5z0SZjE1o/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
