After the death of his mother, Garrus moves to the Citadel with his dad. Shepard is a scruffy duct rat who saves him from bullies.
Garrus never stood a chance.
Childhood friends AU. Covers pre-canon until post-game.
Garrus didn’t know why he couldn’t stop banging his head against the wall trying to nail down the Saren case. Everyone was telling him to give it up, calling it an impossible task, and he was just about starting to believe them. His career was hanging on this; the next few days were the most important of his life.
So, really, he should’ve expected her to show up. She always did when something big was about to happen.

N7 Month Day 13: Husk

The ground team had been down on Aequitas for too long.
Garrus had been on at least a dozen missions like this one with Shepard - a mysterious distress signal, anomalous life signs, etc. They never found anything good, but it had also never taken them half a day cycle to clear it. And while he had learned (thankfully, not firsthand) on the SR-1 that questioning her crew assignments was ill-advised, he still found himself hating not being down there with her.
If asked, he would insist that he had a perfectly valid reason for being in the shuttle bay when they finally returned, and that he was not worrying over Shepard, because worrying over Shepard was a sure way to an early, stress-induced grave. But when the shuttle doors opened and Shepard trudged, covered in dirt and ichor, to the elevator without so much as a glance in anyone's direction, he gave up on denying his anxiety. He could count on one hand the number of times he'd seen her skip sanitizing and storing her armor after a mission.
Past caring what anyone thought, he immediately approached Miranda as she removed her own armor. (Garrus had a feeling that her wearing anything but that Cerberus bodysuit was Shepard's influence.) Before he could get a word out, Miranda sighed. "There must have been dozens of husks down there - maybe a hundred." She massaged her forehead, eyes squeezed shut, and Garrus noticed blood had recently been wiped from her nostrils. "We all just need some rest, Garrus."
His shoulders slumped, partially in relief, because while it wasn't good news, it wasn't as bad as he'd feared. "Thanks, Miranda. You… take it easy."
She granted him what was likely the closest thing to a smile she could manage for the moment and continued with her task.

One extranet search and five minutes of grumbling assistance from Gardner later, and Garrus was waving his hand over the lock on Shepard's door to request entry. It took more than a few seconds, but she did appear in the doorway, still dressed in her undersuit with the remnants of an hours-long fight in her hair. "Garrus," she said, her voice flat with exhaustion. "Can it wait? This isn't a great time."
He shook his head. "I don't need anything. Just… here." He held out a steaming mug, and she looked up at him, brows knit in confusion.
"Coffee? I appreciate the gesture, but-"
"It's not coffee," he quickly corrected. "It's…" A blush crept up his neck as he suddenly wondered whether she even liked this stuff. "It's hot chocolate. I heard it was hell down there and I… read that this could be comforting."
Shepard straightened up, just a hair, and reached for the mug. "Wow. I haven't… Thank you, Garrus. I was just going to scarf down a ration bar in the shower, but this is… Thank you." She brought it close to her nose and inhaled, letting out a hum.
His mandibles flickered in a soft smile. "No problem, Shepard. Just get some rest."

Most Popular by far is Lipstick, my pre-relationship Shakarian one-shot from Garrus's POV, from the beginning of ME1 through the destruction of the Normandy in ME2 (also one of my favorites for sure lol)
A hidden gem I would have to say is The Lions of House Cousland, my longfic Dragon Age: Origins rewrite and the beginning of my canon DA worldstate. It tells the story of Talvinder and Savreen, two Cousland cousins, and their journey with loss, grief, fear, and new beginnings. Pairings are Talvinder/Alistair and Savreen/Gilmore.
Another hidden gem is, unsurprisingly, a Talvinder/Alistair (Talvistair my beloved) one-shot, The Calling, set around the beginning of Inquisition's timeline, when Alistair has begun to hear the Calling stirred by Corypheus. It's another on my list of favorite things that I've written!

It was late in the evening when the topic finally turned, inevitably to the galaxy that they could pinpoint in the sky by memory alone.

The chatter of gunfire barely registered as more than an annoyance in the background of their conversation.

It’s not a difficult exercise. Nothing that’s, theoretically, beyond a student who’s made it this far.
8. One Problem At A Time (or all of them at once) - Andromeda Barrix fix-it smutfic with a paper thin plot
In Macen’s defence, he’d assumed that the ordeal he’d been through immediately after waking up in Andromeda - burned by the scourge, bundled into an escape pod by Dea and subsequently captured by aliens who had no interest in communicating with them until he’d heard one familiar word over their radios and decided that it was time to commandeer their ship for himself.
9. What Do You Want Me To Do - Post-FCW Mama Vakarian dealing with Castis' spiralling PTSD
It's like there's a divide between them.
10. A Little Too Much Like Me - No-Reapers verse spectres vs c-sec teambuilding day turned spectre-gang afterparty featuring AviTis and Shakarian with hints of Kryterius along the way.
For once, Castis was woken by the pinging of his omni-tool, rather than being amongst the first to be awake. He also happened to be the sole occupant of the bed.

1 - It’s the End of the World as we Know It
Ultron x Female OC. Ultron Lives AU (Started pre-covid. The pandemic mentioned is not about covid)
It wasn't supposed to be this way. Certainly, it was close to what he'd originally wanted. But there was something just.... wrong, about the emptiness of it all. The pandemic had swept across the world in a matter of months, killing indiscriminately. He'd watched, plugged into every camera, every system, as the sickness spread, leaving only death in it's wake.
He'd thought North America barren of intelligent human life, until, six months after he'd disregarded the entire continent, one of his sentries, investigating some odd signals in a little town in Canada got run over by a woman joyriding around in a Lamborghini.
2 - It All Started With A Barfight Blitz

The last person Lena expected to enter her life was Spectre Nihlus Kryik. She's juggling work, planning a bartending gig at an upcoming Asari Bonding Ceremony, putting up with an over-protective Krogan and somehow managing not to make a fool of herself while dealing with a smooth-talking, flirtatious, Turian Spectre.

The quest to adopt a dog - by the suggestion of both her therapist and rehab specialist - was off to a rocky start. Personally, Shepard did miss having a pet, and she’d always loved dogs, but she’d never thought she’d be interviewing to adopt one with a touchy feely Turian attached to her hip.

Drabble Prompt: Exhausted
(AO3 Link - Some Chakwas POV w/ implied pre-Shakarian. Enjoy!)
Karin managed to make it to her chair seconds before her knees gave out underneath her, and she had the absurd thought that she hadn’t been so grateful to a piece of furniture in years. She closed her strained eyes for just a moment’s relief after hours of delicate surgery, taking comfort in the steady beeping of the heart rate monitor. Cybernetics or no, reconstructing a good quarter of a turian’s face easily ranked in the top five most complicated procedures she’d ever performed, but thank the stars, Garrus was stable.
He would be alright. And so, too, would Shepard.
