Chapter 10: The End

My head snapped towards the direction of his voice. Beads of sweat were on his forehead and his breathing was heavy. I felt disgusted. “I didn’t hear you knock. What are you doing with-”

“Shut it! You stay away from Veronica you sick freak!”, I pointed at his direction accusingly, slowly backing out towards the front door with the photo still in my hands. As Mike was stuttering with his words, confused at Pedro’s words, his eyes glanced at what I was holding and he chuckled rather nervously, “Don’t tell her, please. There’s no way she can know.”

“You’re sick.”

Before I could say another thing, Mike bolted towards me and instead of running out the door, I stood in self-defense and raised my clenched fists to stop Mike’s punch which was heading for my face.

— A few minutes later —

Normal POV

You arrived at your apartment and started hurrying up the stairs, already anxious for what you have planned tonight. You swung the door open but was greeted with complete silence. The place was empty which is a good sign but then you saw Pedro’s shoes and backpack which were in their proper places, oh no. You rushed over to the bedroom and then the bathroom and every room in your flat. There was no sign of him anywhere but why was his stuff here? You trotted back to the kitchen to check your phone which you only just realized that you left it before going out with Sophie. The screen flickered on and you muttered, “Fuck.”

You facepalmed and groaned as you leaned on the kitchen table after you saw the countless notifications from Pedro. Yet you wondered where he was at this exact second when you read the text, “I’m heading home.”

You thought he might have went out to do something you weren't entirely sure what. Anyways, you trotted back to the bed room along with your lingerie to get ready for tonight. As you adjusted the straps of your bra and while looking at yourself in the mirror, you heard the front door open abruptly and slammed shut almost immediately along with heavy footsteps making you feel confused and worried which urged you to come out of the bedroom with a robe covering your half-naked body and into the living room. You gasped to see Pedro with a small bruise on his cheekbone, a small cut on his nose and his lip. You eyes widened in disbelief and shock before you ran up to him so you would inspect for any other injuries. But before you could place your hands on him, Pedro pulled you in for a soul-crushing hug. He huffed on your shoulder and hummer a soft,"I'm so glad you're safe."

"What happened to you? H-How did you get this- and this? Did something happen? Who fucking did this to you?!"

"I'll explain everything to you later, I-"

"No! José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal you are explaining everything that happened to you right here this instant..", tears rolled down your cheeks as the feeling of worry turned into grief and anxiousness. Pedro rested you head on his chest and brushed his hand through your soft hair as an attempt to comfort you before leading you to the bedroom to explain everything to you.

— A few minutes later —

"How could Mike do this? I don't understand anything at all. I just can't believe any of what you just said. I—",you sobbed on Pedro's arms as you clutched the little photo which Pedro found at Mike's apartment. Your heart was broken. Completely devastated. But yet felt a little bit relieved that Pedro came back home safe and Mike controlled for the meanwhile.

"Aside from calling the police, I can't think of any other way to keep the both of us safe for a longer time. Considering that you wouldn't do a thing such as the latter.",you looked up at him and slumped yourself on his lap as he brushed his hand through your hair.

"For now, let's just focus on the play. And if you're okay with it, we could vent everything out in a way that we both would like..I think we both need to relax..",his eyes with passion as he stared at you on his lap. Your eyes flickered and immediately you sat up to straddle him and rest your palms on his shoulders. Pedro's lips crashed with yours but in a gentle way, your tongue tangled with his and both your hands roamed around each other's body. Each piece of clothing slowly removed and thrown on the floor, your legs entwining as the both of you laid back on the bed…

— A few weeks later —

It was opening night. Lights flashed everywhere as you entered the theater, not by yourself but with Pedro, the both of you holding hands and smiling at the people saying your names. Hours later, the whole play was finished and the curtains closed as well as the actors' exiting the stage. Before your boyfriend could fade into the backstage, he looked behind you with a glimmering smile plastered on his face. The same way you looked at him as you locked eyes with him.

You made your way to the dressing rooms and spotted Pedro's door just up ahead but you slowed your pace as you caught a glance at Javiera and Nico. Sure, you were excited to meet his family but the thought of rejection bothered you knowing the fact that his siblings couldn't possibly do that but still. Nico's girlfriend stepped out of the room and saw you a few feet away, you slapped yourself mentally as she called you out and alerting Pedro and the others. She grabbed you by the arm and pulled you into a soul-crushing hug before you entered the dressing room where you were greeted by Pedro's family and close friends.

They were the first to make a conversation with you especially Javiera and Nico who teased you with a lot of niece and nephew jokes making you blush for the entire time you were with them in the room. Whilst this was happening, Pedro crossed his arms and leaned on the table in front of the mirror as he watched the scene with a warm smile on his face. You saw him and you instantly hugged him, whispering in his ear,"You did great. I love you", making you smile while resting your head on his chest.

"Either the two of you get another room or all of us are eating dinner. Come on!", Javier slipped herself between you and Pedro, looping her arms around yours and Pedro before dragging the both of you out of the room while the others chuckled.

IAs dinner progressed and the night fell, all of you finally decided to go home and say your goodbyes and hopes for more bonding time. You and Pedro made your way home clasping each other's hand and occasional glances at each other, leaving both of you a blushing mess when you arrived at the apartment. He opened the door for you and were greeted by Jake who has joyful when he finally approached his owner. "You played really well tonight. I'm glad you finally got to bond with my family, you have no idea how much that means to me.",Pedro whispered into your ear as he hugged you from behind and pecked your cheek. This made you smile and face him, pulling him into a gentle kiss. You stayed like that for a while, being in each other's arms and sharing a passionate kiss, until a knock came on the door. Pedro broke the kiss and pecked your forehead before whispering,"I'll get it." You sat in the sofa petting Jake, running your hand through his soft fur yet tensed as you heard Pedro swear on the doorway.

"What the fuck are you doing here?!", you hurried up to him and your eyes widened to see the last person you wanted to see, Mike. Mike saw you as well and started to back up from the doorframe as Pedro put himself between both of you to keep you safe. "Ronnie. I can explain. I just need you to listen to me. Please."

"She's not listening to any of your bullshit. Now leave!", Pedro started to approach Mike with clenched fists but you stop him.

"Calm down. Let me handle this… I'll be fine.", you squeezed his arm to assure him and stepped in front of him to talk to Mike. "You broke my heart. You know that right?"

Mike's eyes filled with regret as his shoulders slumped down, "Yeah, I know. It was..crazy for me to do that. I was selfish, filled with lust and... I'm sorry. You probably won't forgive me, Pedro as well. I wouldn't believe it if you did. I went to therapy actually, so you wouldn't worry about me stalking you and your boyfriend. And I'm also leaving New York. I'll move in with my sister out of state, you probably won't see me again unless you want to. Just do this for me Ronnie, take care…", Mike nodded to Pedro who was behind you, leaning on the doorway watching over you in case anything happens. You looked behind and Pedro nodded back. Before Mike could leave, you hugged him as you whispered your final words to him,"Take care of yourself as well. I'll miss you."

"Bye Ronnie."

"Bye."

And with that, he left. For good and for now. You shut the door softly and exhaled as Pedro wrapped his arms around your waist from behind, "You okay?"

"You know what? Yeah. Everything feels perfectly fine.",you chuckled in relief and turned around to face him and plant a long passionate kiss to his soft lips as the both of you slowly lead yourselves to the bedroom to have a celebration for everything good that has happened.

You laid in bed with Pedro, your head resting on his bare chest as you swirled circles around his torso while his hands roamed and brushed your soft hair. Your body fit right into his and you felt content. You looked up at Pedro and smiled, "I'm glad I bumped into you."

"Was it you that bumped into me?I'm pretty sure it was me who—"

"Oh shush. Come here.",you straddled him and shared a hungry kiss with him. The two of you broke apart and stared into the brown space of each other's eyes saying, "I love you."
