living weapon whumpee who's never known anything but pain and violence.
their existence hurts. they were made to be effective, not happy, and their masters decided that keeping them in constant pain provided better results. they're wilder, more unpredictable, and the pain keeps them from thinking straight enough to question anything.
they're only given painkillers, only allowed a respite from their seemingly endless suffering, after a successful mission. it keeps them loyal, and most importantly, teaches their brain to associate acts of violence with relief and rewards.
everyone they've ever met has treated them as a tool, a monster, or both. they don't know how to be anything else.
that is until they're rampaging through a village, destroying, killing, whatever their masters demand of them. whatever will give them a few blissful hours of numbness.
one of the villagers steps out of a ruined building and looks them straight in the eyes. whumpee expects fear, hatred, disgust, the things they see in the faces of every person who's ever crossed their path. but they see something completely different.
compassion.
whumpee is so stunned, they don't think to move or do anything at all as the villager steps closer, gently reaching out a hand to cup whumpee's face.
"oh, poor thing." they murmur, taking in the creature in front of them - part human, part animal, part machine. "they've done a number on you, huh?"
whumpee blinks at them. pain continues to course through their body, but the gentle hand on their cheek distracts them, even if just a little. all the indistinct noise in their foggy, addled mind finally goes quiet.
caretaker had stepped out in front of the being destroying their home with the intention to get through to it or die trying, and the expectation to absolutely die trying.
they did not at all expect the seemingly feral mishmash of metal, fur, and flesh to lean so heavily into their touch that they nearly collapsed into caretaker's arms.

Prompts For When You Need A Whumpee To Fall Like A Sack Of Bricks
For when a slow and steady loss of consciousness doesn't quite cut it (but that's still good, don't get me wrong).
whumpee's still running on adrenaline when they bump into caretaker, nothing but smiles until they catch onto caretaker's horrified expression. they follow their gaze until they see the familiar stain of blood against their shirt. their shock drains the adrenaline from them, and before caretaker's even able to take a step forward their knees have buckled.
a sudden wound — a gunshot, a stabbing — and the pain lancing through them white-hot and agonizing. they're still processing what's happened to them, gaping like a fish out of water when they feel the ground slam into the side of their head. they're not sure when they fell, but every pulse pours out more red and reminds them over and over of why.
a caretaker running themselves ragged with just how many people are hurt or in need of them, unable to take a moment's rest for themselves. their vision starts to swim when they stand up but they ignore it, because it's not that bad yet and others have it worse. they're doing an excellent job pushing through, until they're suddenly not. their vision wavers a little stronger this time, and then into black, barely able to get out a surprised "oh" before they're on the ground.
bending down to grab something and not hearing the approach of someone from behind them. one moment, they're sifting through papers, a drawer, a cabinet — the next, there's a burst of horrible pain at the back of their skull and a deep, sudden darkness.
trying to climb out of bed after a broken fever — common sense tells them to stay in bed but they want a bath so badly. their body trembles the moment they move to stand, and they're barely upright for more than a few seconds before their weakened legs fold and they collapse in a pile of exhausted, aching limbs.
doing nothing, thinking of nothing until there's a bright surge of light and heat, white bleeding into black, so abrupt that it's not until they wake again that they even comprehend that anything happened to them.

okay inspired by another prompt but-
A prince that acts all high and mighty and well to do and overly confident. Someone - maybe a noble, or maybe a commoner, could be anyone that doesn't live in the palace with him - decides they hate his attitude and wants to take him down a notch or ten, so they kidnap him with full intent to torture him.
They get him somewhere alone, toss him around a bit. The prince's behavior has changed like the flip of a switch. His confidence and regal bearing is gone, replaced with cowering and feeble, half-formed pleas and teary eyes. The kidnapper thinks it's just an act to get them to let him go, and they get even angrier about it, so of course they take their anger out on him.
At some point they do strip him down...only to find the evidence of past abuse. Not anything simple either, nothing that could be caused by accidents. His clothes covered whip marks and scars, old and new. And an intricate pattern of brands spanning his shoulders, which looked to be a piece still be in progress.
The prince's change in behavior makes a bit more sense, but does the kidnapper actually care? Or maybe they feel vindicated, believing they're not the only one who thinks the prince needs a behavior adjustment.

TW: potential implied non-con whump, drugged whumpee, coercion.
whumpee who doesn't even realise they're being whumped perhaps?
They are frequently invited to whumper's house under the pretence of some other activity (bonus points if it's some sort of contract/obligation that whumpee is reluctant to back out of) and offered a glass of water or some sort of snack once they get there, but little do they know it's been drugged. Whumpee consumes the offering and subsequently is knocked out, leaving them at whumper's mercy for however long.
eventually, whumpee wakes up, perhaps feeling a little sore, and whumper chides them for not getting enough sleep. Bonus points if caretaker comes to pick whumpee up while they're still asleep and whumper has to scramble for an explanation.
The longer this keeps happening, the more concerned caretaker gets. They know whumpee is getting enough sleep, and whumper is looking more and more suspicious with every strange bruise that whumpee comments on finding once they come home.
who knows what whumper is doing while whumpee's asleep? Experiments? Posing them for photos? Something worse? Does caretaker or whumpee ever figure it out? the possibilities are vast

cw: panic attack mentioned, hurt/comfort, recovery
a small whumpee huddled in a tight space when having a panic attack or being overwhelmed
and a bigger caretaker who wants to comfort them somehow managing to squeeze themselves in too, making whumpee laugh because of how comically they had to fold their limbs

Caretaker comes from a noble bloodline, as does Whumper, who all specialise in hunting mythical creatures. This trait and activity is passed on for generations, but Caretaker has no interest in it and deems it as cruel.
Until Whumper hosted a "celebration" of this activity, where all who are invited are given the choice to bring their domesticated and captured creatures to show off, Caretaker had no clue what the mythical creatures looked like, nor how diverse the species' were.
Caretaker soon finds out. All types of mythical or otherwise unique animals, ranging from kneeling elves to caged fairies to declawed werewolves to chained dragons, among many more. Though, one stands out to them; Whumpee, frail and small amongst the crowd and activity yet tense and alert, sitting dutifully beside Whumper's seat.

What about a hero whumpee currently captured by the villain whumper, and villain gives them a scar for each person killed by villain or their henchmen {or just non-natural cod} while hero’s there.
Of course, it’s not actually their fault but nevertheless; the hero blames themself for each death and it’s only reinforced by the villain cooing “you deserve it.” right in their ear as they cut each and every scar

WE MUST READ WHUMP STORIES THROUGH THE OBJECTIVE EYES OF AN INSPECTOR MORE OFTEN😭😭😭
I haven't read enough whump stories to find out if it's a common trope, BUT BOOOIIII I'm about to lose my mind over it.
I was thinking about my fictional government that gives permission to sell your organs legally and human experiments, then I remembered the inspector in Cadaver Exquisito by Agustina Bazterrica and pathologists who perform autopsies irl. LIKE YOU CAN'T SEE TOUCH THEM AGAIN AND I'LL KILL YOU OR I LIKE IT WHEN YOU CRY LIKE THAT OR PLEASE STOP IN AUTOPSY REPORT, it'll report you how deep the cut is, postmortem changes, cause of death, ect.
THERE IS NO WHUMPER, NO CARETAKER, NO WHUMPEE, JUST A COUPLE EYES TO SEE WHAT'S GOING ON WITHOUT ANY ETHICAL CONCERNS.
They come to check if cages are clean, if whumpees are nurtured enough to not be dead, and if everything aligns with the agreement between whumper and whumpee. We can see the pure results of the torment, why do people get involved in it, and what they'll earn when whumper is done with them.

pet whumpee who is still so naively loving and affectionate towards whumper (or anyone really) no matter what they do to them.
it's not even like they're fawning in the hopes they won't be hurt - they don't even seem to have a problem with being hurt in the first place. they don't enjoy it, and they scream and cry and plead for mercy when the pain becomes too much, but if hurting them makes master happy, then they'll happily tolerate it without complaint.
besides, master is always so sweet to them afterwards, cleaning and bandaging their wounds with gentle hands, wiping whumpee's tears away with their thumb and telling them that they're a good girl/boy, they did such a good job for master.
they just want love and affection. like a puppy who always returns to its master, tail wagging happily, no matter how many times it's kicked or shouted at.
and in the event of whumpee being rescued, they're... honestly so permissive and docile it kinda freaks caretaker out at first.
caretaker was fully equipped to handle someone terrified, or potentially violent, but whumpee is just... calm. they even seemed reluctant to be taken from wherever whumper kept them, but they still went along all the same. their skin was marred with all kinds of horrible scars and bruises, but they still leaned happily into anyone's touch, their eyes full of love and trust for someone they might have just met moments ago.
it leaves caretaker conflicted. whumpee has seen unimaginable trauma, this behavior is surely a result of that, they can't possibly be in their right mind... but caretaker can't help but wonder if they should even bother trying to 'fix' them. whumpee seems perfectly happy this way, and it'd be a lot of slow, painful work to try and make them into a person again.
caretaker would never dream of hurting whumpee. so... is it really so bad to just let them keep living this way? just as caretaker's pet instead?

'Til I Drown
Warnings: captivity, torture, restraints, forced to watch, water torture, drowning, potential to drown
"Just hold on, Whumpee. Just a bit longer," Caretaker called as they tried to slip their fingers through the cuffs once more. They had to do so very carefully--they needed full function of their hands to free Whumpee from the tank.
The tank Whumpee was locked in was rapidly filling with water. Caretaker had thought they would have more time when Whumper slammed the lid shut, engaging the lock, and turning on the water hose.
Caretaker was wrong.
Whumpee was already forced to swim, their head slipping under the water every so often. "'s 'kay," they huffed as the spat out more water.
Caretaker knew that Whumpee had inhaled a lot of water. Knew that Whumpee was doing everything they could to keep from drowning. And they knew that unless something changed drastically, they were going to cut it close.
"I'm almost free. Just hold on, Whumpee. The team's on the way, they know where we are."
"Yes," Whumpee hissed as they struggled to keep their head above water. They weren't the strongest of swimmers and this was a test of their strength.
"I'm almost there. Hold on, Whumpee. Hold on." Caretaker repeated the mantra over again. Repeated it over the sound of the blood rushing in their ears. Repeated it over the sound of the sloshing water in the tank. And they repeated over the sound of Whumpee's frantic gasps for breath.
"Got it!" Caretaker shouted triumphantly as their hands slipped free through the cuffs. They stood up, heart hammering in their chest. They did it! "Whumpee?"
Caretaker's mouth went dry. Whumpee hadn't been able to keep swimming. Hadn't been able to keep their head above water. They floated in the tank, eyes wide with fear as they saw Caretaker break free.
Caretaker rushed forward. "Hold on! Just hold on, Whumpee! I'm coming!" Caretaker began to try and break the lock with a piece of broken pipe. "Come on," they growled as they beat the lock over and over again. Whumpee didn't have much time.
"Just hold on, Whumpee, almost there," Caretaker muttered as they swung the pipe down once more.
Whumpee watched Caretaker as the world grew hazy around them. Watched Caretaker as the last of their precious air bubbled past their lips. Watched Caretaker as their lungs burned for them to take another breath. Watched Caretaker try valiantly to break the lock as they could not longer fight the urge to breathe and they took a deep inhale. Watched Caretaker as the agony of not breathing air, but water threatened to consume them. And Whumpee watched as their world went dark and Caretaker broke the lock.

Affrimations for your whumpee! By whumper
inspired by/paraphrased from good old George Orwell 1984
Faced with enough pain, no one is a hero. They'll give you up for relief, and you'll do the exact same.
I'll spend my goodwill by tolerating your struggle or granting you the ocassional moment of solace. Be grateful and choose wisely.
The only proof of your pain is your own perception of it, and your mind is so easily deceived.
You'll never be your old self, because I didn't remold wet clay. You were a cracked pot, already passed through the fire and ruined, so I crushed everything you were to dust and made something nicer to keep on display.
It's not easy becoming sane, but you're a particularly slow learner, and I'm losing patience.
If you're not even strong enough to hold two contradictory beliefs in your mind, you're not strong enough to handle reality.
If you never forget what you are, you'll never be punished for rebelling, and if you never rebel, you'll never forget who you belong to.
The only way you'll be able to hide your obvious secrets and glaring flaws is by lying to yourself so thoroughly that you forget the truth.
Assume I'm always listening, always watching, and you'll never have to be afraid of doing something that demands punishment.
You're your own worst enemy. The nerves, the imperfections, the weaknesses- the very impulses of electricity from your brain to your body guide my hand.
Don't give me a reason to exercise greater control over you. There's no reason I should ever give it up once I have it after all.
If tell you a comforting lie, take it as a gift and make it your comfortable truth, because it's the only comfort I'll waste on you.
Your story isn't a tragedy. A tragedy has an audience and a cartharsis. There's nothing satisfying or sympathetic about watching your same stupid mistakes over and over. And you begged me not to bring an audience.
Never again will you be capable of ordinary human feeling. Everything will be dead inside you. Never again will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity, or courage, or integrity. You will be hollow. I will squeeze you empty, and then fill you as I please.
Love,
Whumper

Whump prompt XVII
Fake relationship but it's a prisoner and a guard. The prisoner desperately needs some favours. The guard enjoys the "affection" and power play.
Until the guard starts falling for their own lies and starts thinking that maybe, they both mean it. They break out the prisoner to start a new life... what will the prisoner do, now that they are free and the guard whose whims they've had to entertain for so long is no longer protected by their surroundings?
Bonus (It Came To Me In A Dream): It's a fantasy death row, and the guards have some say over who gets to be this week's public entertainment on the gallows, making the whole thing a literal life-or-death matter for the prisoner...

Whumper staging an accident for kidnapping purposes.
Crashing into Whumpee during a lonely car ride, tamper with their brakes, or using a hiking trip to let them injure and isolate themself. However they managed to do it, the more or less grave Whumpee's situation is now, they will be calling out for help, happy for someone to aid them.
Whumper is there to gladly hold out their hand, letting their Whumpee walk directly into the lion's den. And if they are severely hurt, (Care-)Whumper can start to help them immediately, the graver the injury the better the resulting bond.
The amount of stalking that went into it alone is worth mentioning: learning Whumpee's routine or manipulating the equipment without a trace.
All the work just to be a good Samaritan that's a bit too eager to help, and when they finally have Whumpee in their grasp, running won't be an option anymore...
