Art Dump Part Two!
I have quite a few more, so there's going to be a Part three and (maybe) four. Anyways, I hope everyone likes these!
Tumblr media
Here's! Nova with Manaphy! I think this was my first time drawing them as a Luxio and I don't think I really liked the design much. I really have to figure out better designs for my team's evolved forms.
Tumblr media
Here's a sketch of Nova after Venus disappears. I wasn't planning on posting any of my uncolored, messy sketches, but I really like this one. I might save it to my tablet and finish it.
Tumblr media
Here's August the Chimchar! I was doing a Pokemon Pearl Nuzlocke and was thinking of possibly making a PMD-style comic of it, but I failed the run, so... August didn't really survive.
Tumblr media
Speaking of PMD and main Pokemon games, here's a PMD version of Gladion.
Tumblr media
Here's a shiny Hisuian Zorua! This was my brother's favorite and now that he's gone, I care about Zorua a lot. I'm thinking of maybe getting a tattoo or something of one eventually in his honor.
Tumblr media
Shiny Mew! I didn't really have a reason for drawing it. I was just doodling random Pokemon while I was bored and liked it enough to color.
Tumblr media
Pawmi! I think I drew this a few days after I beat Pokemon Violet. I just really like Pawmi's design.
Tumblr media
Walrein! I had a friend who liked Walrein so I doodled one for her.
Tumblr media
Bulbasaur! I just really like trying out new styles on Bulbasaur, huh? I wanted to try some colored line art and made this guy.
Tumblr media
And Pikachu! I doodled this in about ten or so minutes I think? I wanted to try drawing Pikachu's official design.

Brambleflower aka. Brambleclaw redesign! Here he is malewife-ified Brambleclaw! I made him a more dull dusty cream tabby to reference my Tigerstar’s dull coat! I also wanted him to have a different coat color from his mom and Mothwing while still being blonde! He also has a little flower that he wears in honor of him mama :)
I know I already posted about my character/ plot changes for Bramble but I think I might change his plot even more... I just want him to be likeable! I want you to feel bad for this man! I am basically completely changing his character too lol, he is now a soft spoken anxious guy who is wayy to naïve (he doesn't notice how evil his brother Hawkfrost is bec “He’s my brother, he loves me :)”
I think I will have him never be in contact with Dark Forest Tigerstar, because I don't think this version of him would stupidly just hang out with his evil dad?? Like he knows how bad Tiger is! His mom, sister, and Firestar told him as much! He would NEVER trust Tiger! I think instead Hawkfrost just manipulates Bramble by using the “We are brothers” card to his advantage, as well as Bramble’s desperation for a sibling connection.
Also I might have him only start officially dating Squirrelflight after his fight with Hawkfrost and subsequent stepping down from Deputyship.
Idk , I will write up a new summary for his character later! I am just very determined to make him a loveable guy instead of his abusive asshole self in canon!
Image ID below v
[Image ID: A digital drawing of Brambleflower aka. Brambleclaw from Warrior Cats. He is standing with his left side showing, and he has a shy expression on his face, along with a shy smile. He is a big long furred tan and cream tabby tom with yellow and orange eyes. He is mostly a light dusty tan color, with a lighter cream color closer to his stomach, and on the bottom of his legs, he has white on his muzzle , long cheek fur, neck, stomach and paws. He has dusty brown stripes and a long hair tuft, of the same color, covering his right eye. He has a scar over the bridge of his nose, as well as two scars on his ide and a torn left ear. His scars, inner ears and nose are all pink./End ID]

BUG GAME MASTERPOST (AS OF NOV. 2022)
heyhey! this isnt actually anything "official"! i just thought i’d make this for fun and to also spread around bug video games that others, who like the silly little critters as well, might enjoy!
(remember that this is as of nov. 29 2022 so if any game unreleased game on here is now released, it may have been after the date that this was made)
there will be 3 categories: released games, games to be released/are being developed, and honorable mentions
under the released games, i will also be stating if i have finished the game, played them, or simply heard of them (can range from "i have the game wishlisted", "owned but not played", literally only heard of it, etc.)
these bug games will also only list games where most invertebrates are the main focus of the game
other than that, i will be doing the following if possible!:
- i will be providing brief comments for what i think of each game (this is my opinion of each game!! everyone has their own tastes and its alright if you dont agree with what i say! and in no way is my comments for each game professional/an attempt to critique the game in any way ksfhskjd)
- what the gameplay is like (sort of. im not really good at explaining LMAO)
- where you can find these games (game websites may be linked if available instead!)
visual warnings for this post: gif/image heavy, bright imagery click here for the text-only version!
let's begin!
released games
hollow knight - website; finished - a challenging metroidvania! i personally found this game really fun though i did have to take breaks from the game due to some difficult fights and events lsfhdskj. its definitely the type of game thats fun to replay and see how much you've improved since first playing it! i also think the world building, implied lore, and characters are really well done! (i highly enjoy reading people's analysis posts of this game jksdfkj)
overall, i suggest this game if you enjoy challenging fights and platformers, creative characters, games with deep lore, and/or emotional osts!
Tumblr media
bug fables - website; finished - i am emotionally attached to the blue moth. anyways! bug fables is a paper mario rpg inspired game (used to be called paper bugs actually!) and it has charming characters and a good story! this game has a very fun ost and you definitely fall in love with the characters as you learn more and more about them. i find the sidequests very much worth doing and also really fun as it makes you go around and interact with a lot of the npcs in the game! you'll end up seeing that a lot of them have unique personalities and are loveable in their own right :] !!
i suggest the game if you like rpgs, bright characters and settings, bubbly osts, and/or perhaps even learning a dark secret or 2?
Tumblr media
bugsnax - website; finished - silly game about catching and eating bug-shaped foods! or food-shaped bugs? food bugs!!!! the horrors. all the bugsnax designs are super fun and some of them are challenging to catch which i think makes the game pretty fun! there's also a bunch of ways that u could catch a bugsnak, its just up to what you can think of! the horrors. the characters are also pretty loveable and they have really neat stories and getting to know them can change the course of the game (just the ending really actually)
highly suggest the game if you enjoy being a little creative with how you perform a task/solving puzzles, characters that are more than what they seem, and silly creative creature designs!
Tumblr media
creepy castle - available on steam; played - i have yet to finish this game! but from what i've played, its pretty fun exploring around, reading lore tidbits, and doing the duel minigames! it has a neat retro style and you can change the colors/gui settings if i remember correctly!
i suggest the game if you like rpgs, pixelated style games, and/or minigames!
Tumblr media
webbed - website; finished - super cute spider game about saving your bf, swinging around on and crafting webs, and making new friends! did i also mention that youre a spider that shoots lasers from their eyes? webbed is a really charming game that can be completed in just a few hours, even with all the bonus/side things that you can do!
i suggest it if you like pixelated style games, are a completionist, want a shorter game, or just want to be a silly little laser spider!
Tumblr media
apico - website; finished - a relaxing game about keeping bees and restoring bee populations! recently they've added an update where you can help repopulate solitary bees and butterflies, and there's a bunch more content that they're planning to develop and release!! the characters have silly bee pun names and have neat dialogue! (they also have pronouns next to their names when you talk to them <3) bee management is not super demanding and with some mods, you can enhance your experience in the game. personally, i have not played with mods, i really enjoy the base game alone! you can also build pretty bases, listen to the relaxing ost, or trap yourself in menu hell!
i suggest the game if you want something that's more laidback (though there is a bit of management), like reading silly dialogue blurbs, want to have a calming ost to listen to, or just wanna do some beekeeping! (proceeds also go to charities that help repopulate native bee populations!)
Tumblr media
grounded - website; played - grounded is an open world survival sandbox game (theres also a literal sandbox in the game) where you're a teen that's been shrunken down and must survive in the backyard while finding a way to bring yourself back to your original size. the game actually got a full release in back in september and i have yet to play it because my partner has not been able to play kfhskj. but we have played when it was in early access and it was super fun! there are giant spiders in the game but there's an accessibility setting that allows you to make the spiders more blobby in case you have arachnophobia! other than that it's really fun to go running around the game screaming and crying because the giant mosquito is about to 2-shot you. the base building is also pretty fun with a variety of materials you can make your base from as well as decor. there's also a variety of weapons and armors to choose from and create a build to optimally destroy bugs that are not so friendly. you can also tame some of the passive creatures and become extremely overprotective of them. (im not speaking from experience [lying]) there's actually a storyline to follow as well that helps encourage exploration and progression in the game!
i recommend the game if you enjoy open world sandbox survival games, being scared out of your mind when something you didnt see gets aggro'd on you, making neat bases, and/or strategizing and making builds to suit your playstyle! (i also highly recommend playing with friends!)
Tumblr media
space moth dx - available on steam; played - an arcade-like shoot-em-up bullet hell where you play a moth shooting lasers at other laser shooting bugs! this is actually a fairly tough game if you're not familiar with these types of games. i personally have not gotten that far and have yet to play it again kslfhkjs but i think the art is super neat and the gameplay is pretty fun!
i recommend it if you enjoy bullet hells where you literally don't see anything But bullets (there is also space moth: lunar edition!)
Tumblr media
bug academy - available on steam and switch; played - a pretty fun physics puzzle game where you control a swarm of bugs! there are different levels with different objectives and a star-based score depending on how well you do in each one! the only reason i havent finished this game is because im a completionist for it and got stuck on a level i have yet to get 3 stars on ksjfhkj. if you ever get this game, i highly recommend playing with a controller!
i suggest this game if you like puzzles, timed/stopwatch levels, trying to see how far you can chuck something, destroying buildings by chucking items, crying when you knock over your tower on accident, and/or being a silly bug swarm
Tumblr media
crustacean nations - available on steam and itch.io; finished - woah moth!!! a game about crabs???? yeah they're getting a spot on this list, they're sea bugs to me. but anyways! crustacean nations is a fairly short game with only 3 levels (if i remember correctly) and a sandbox mode. you're essentially commanding a kingdom of crabs and you must defend your sand castle while destroying the other crab sand castles. there's also a pit where you can sacrifice crabs and summon a Big One. it doesn't take too much strategy to win each level but you still need to think about it a bit!
i suggest it if u want to play a brief n short army-building game! with crabs!
Tumblr media
kill it with fire - website; finished - a silly game about exterminating spiders. as you progress through the game you get a bunch of new weapons to um. delete spiders with. there's also a bunch of challenges you can do and achievements to get! i've completely 100%'d the game just because it's kinda fun trying to do the challenges and collect all the achievements. the ending is also. a little messed up.
i suggest the game if you're a bit of a completionist, don't like spiders for some reason (i think theyre pretty neat), want to have a stress-relief game (or would it be stress inducing??), or want to see how goofy it gets
Tumblr media
social moth - available on steam; heard of - a lot of my mutuals talk about and adore this game! i have not played it yet but it's wishlisted! here's a copy n pasted excerpt from the steam page: "Social Moth is a narrative platformer where you play as a small moth contending with social anxiety. Set in a close-knit community on the forest floor, the game allows the player to explore themes of mental health, relationships, and finding a sense of belonging."
i think i can suggest this game if you have social anxiety/want to understand social anxiety while also playing a puzzle platformer with an endearing art style and characters!
Tumblr media
buggos - available on steam; heard of - ive had this game wishlisted for a while! here's a copy and pasted excerpt from the steam page: "Buggos is an RTS Auto Battler where you evolve your army into the perfect bug fighting force. You control a young hive mind bent on world domination, and your swarm will mostly listen to your every beck and call. Guide your swarm’s evolutionary path and breed your best bugs for world domination!"
i think i can suggest this game if you like the idea of world domination and slaughter, want a bug army building game, or enjoy pixelated style games.
Tumblr media
i commissioned some bees - available on steam; heard of - did you know there's 10 of these games plus an advent edition?? these games are essentially just where's waldo bee edition and multiply those by like 1000. i've had this game wishlisted for a while but it hasnt been a priority pft. here's an excerpt from the steam page!: "The brief was simple. I commissioned artists to create a fantasy world, and hide as many bees as they can inside it. Now it’s your job to find them all! With 10 art pieces to choose from, and 1000+ bees, you will have a lot of searching to do."
Tumblr media
bee simulator - website; heard of - i own the game but havent played it yet. the most ive done is watch markiplier play it hfkjsd. here's an excerpt from the epic games page: "The hive awakens as the sun's first rays warm the horizon. It's time to test your wings, receive orders from the Queen and begin your first mission. And that's just the start of your adventures. Humans want to cut down the tree that holds your hive, so your fate – and that of the whole swarm – rests on your tiny shoulders!" i think this game is more of an educational game aimed towards families and children but who knows! maybe some of you will enjoy it too?
i think i can recommend this game if you like bees :) and doing minigames/tasks/challenges!
Tumblr media
black widow: recharged - website; heard of - an arcade shooter where you play a spider! i own this game but havent played it yet. here's an excerpt from the site: "Aim for a high score in the old school arcade mode and earn bragging rights with your name at the top of the leaderboard. Or test your skills and rank on the boards in one of 30 intensely creative challenges, which twist the gameplay in new and exciting ways. Collect cash from downed enemies to charge a powerful web blast, or pick up one of a dozen new power-ups including explosive blasts, spread-shots, and fear, trapping all enemies in your web. Every mode and level is playable in local co-op mode with a friend."
Tumblr media
centipede recharged - website; heard of - i've played centipede in an actual arcade but it was not this specific game so i dont know if the experience is around the same. (i own it but havent played it) centipede recharged is similar to black widow: recharged in terms of an arcade shooter as well as the description given
Tumblr media
empires of the undergrowth - website; played - an army building game about ants! in the "main zone", you're an experimental ant species that seems to be able to take on traits of many other ant species. you play levels as real-life ant species and try to grow your colony and complete objectives that are given to you. the rewards you get from these levels are used to upgrade your lab species and after completing a set of levels, you'll be given a challenge using the lab species. i havent completed this game due to being stuck on one of the challenge levels fhksjd but i think its kind of fun
i suggest this game if you like army building games (similar to starcraft or warhammer) and the idea of making a huge ant colony and competing against other colonies
Tumblr media
yoku's island express - available on steam; heard of - there's actually a lot more places where you can purchase yoku's island express (epic games, switch, gog, etc.) but their website is down so i decided to resort to linking the steam page. i currently own the game but have not played it! it's a game about you being a tiny postman exploring around islands, delivering packages, while also making new friends and saving the islands where you reside. it's a pinball platformer adventure game and it seems really cute and fun to play!
Tumblr media
earthtongue - available on steam and itch.io; heard of - this game actually just got recommended to me after this was posted! earthtongue is a game where you watch over a world inhabited by fungi and bugs. here's an excerpt about the game!: "You will spend most of your time watching life grow and eat each other to survive. Your subtle nudges will be required to maintain the balance of this world, but it can handle itself much of the time. Player given goals are limited, aside from maximizing the health of your ecosystem. You may choose to try to create a fungal garden to your liking. You may try your best to breed as many beetles as you can. You might use those beetles instead as food stock for the mantises. You might instead just peacefully watch the story of Earthtongue unfold on its own."
Tumblr media
stonefly - website; heard of - stonefly is an adventure game where you control a bug-shaped mech! here's an excerpt from the site: "Harness the wind and soar through the wilderness of Stonefly, a chill and tranquil action-adventure game about self-discovery, legacy, and belonging. Glide your mech strategically among beautiful flora and dangerous fauna, confronting hungry bugs, adventures, and memorable characters."
Tumblr media
to be released/in development games
hollow knight: silksong - website - the game that the hk fandom says doesn't exist and is actually a collective fever dream (it is 100% a real game, we're all just very excited for it to come out! /srs) the game is going to be like hollow knight (a challenging metroidvania) but this time the player plays as a new protagonist, who was a character in the first game, hornet! this game will have a new world to explore, new mechanics to master, new faces to meet, and much more.
Tumblr media
bugaboo pocket - website - a really cute pixelated game about raising bugs! an excerpt from the site: "Bugaboo Pocket is a digital pet game where you raise bugs from egg to adult. How you care for your pet influences their personality and impacts the ecology around them. Inspired by real bugs!"
Tumblr media
another crab's treasure - website - a game where you play as a hermit crab! you use trash in your surroundings as your shell and each "shell" provides a different effect that affects how you play the game! an excerpt from the site: "Another Crab’s Treasure is a soulslike adventure set in a crumbling underwater world. As Kril the hermit crab, you’ll need to wear the trash around you as shells to withstand attacks from enemies many times your size. Embark on an epic treasure hunt to buy back your repossessed shell, and discover the dark secrets behind the polluted ocean." (i recommend checking out their tiktok, some of the posts there are extremely funny)
Tumblr media
dewdrop dynasty - steam page - a pixelated style metroidvania where you play as a gunslinging bee who lost their wings and finds themselves trapped in an unknown place. you'll meet interesting characters, challenging enemies, and also learn new skills and mechanics as you play the game. goodgis, dewdrop dynasty's dev, also posts a bunch of videos on youtube regarding game development tips and devlogs. (that's how my partner knew about the game and introduced it to me) a fun and charming game that will have mysteries to discover!
Tumblr media
i am a caterpillar - dev's twitter - a game where you play as a caterpillar!: unbothered. slimey. thriving. in your moss. squelched up. wriggling. an excerpt from one of the dev's tweets!: "Become the squidgy lil' caterpillar you've always wanted to be, on a quest to stop your own metamorphosis. Crawl & wriggle all over anything in your path and explore the canopy."
Tumblr media
a webbing journey - website - a cute 3D game where you play as a spider! you'll explore the world, making webs and slinging around on them. you'll also meet some friendly faces to talk to and do quests for them! an excerpt from the site: " You control a little spider equipped with all the typical spider abilities and a little bit more as you travel through various stunning islands searching for the most exotic flowers for your spider date. Along your journey you meet other spiders and animals who provide additional side stories and quests which challenge your spider abilities."
Tumblr media
invertipets - dev's site / toyhou.se - a petsite game being made by @shadybugdev where you take care of bugs and bug-like pets! there's not much on it publicly available yet other than some pet concepts (which can be viewed through the toyhouse link!) but it's something to look out for! (the picture provided is some of the pets and their possible morphs!)
Tumblr media
honorable mentions
an isopod game(?) being made by riley neville (part of sbuggames/made webbed) - this "game" has not actually been announced to be a game that will be published but it looks neat!
a worm game(?) being made by riley neville - same thing as the previous one!
all the games in my bug game collection on itch.io! (if i added all the ones in here i would be making this post forever. but please please check them out!!)
woah its the end!
that should be all i know! most of these games, if not all, are made by indie devs so i highly suggest checking them out and supporting them if you can!
thanks so much for reading and i hope i've helped you find a new bug game to pick up and enjoy! (or to wait for!) <3

Got a few more until tomorrow
1: you said in a earlier post they like spider-man, I don’t know if you played and beaten the spider-man game with the white spider (2018 ps4), but what’s their reaction to that one scene in the game at the end with aunt may? Speaking of that just now playing the “3rd” game on the ps5, pretty amazing! No pun intended lol
2: what type of jokes do they enjoy? puns, toilet humor, dad jokes, dark humor, etc…
3: if there was a video game starting the two what type of game will it be? Like Gotham knights, mortal kombat shaolin monks, maybe like Arkham knight where you play as one character only but you can change characters in certain fights, etc…
4: in universe, did Jake come up with sky bird on the first try?
5: any alternative outfits for Chris? I did saw a flame bird type suit for Jake.
6: I saw an earlier post seeing Jake in a Robin outfit, was he like the fifth or sixth Robin for Batman? Or just become Nightwings sidekick?
Sorry for the lateness @gothicghost2000 but If I may…
1. Oh…tears. So many emotions pouring out of them, as if the earlier final boss fight against Doc Ock was bad enough for those two
2. Primarily they’d wordplay, snarky quips, quick witted one liners (For Example, from the film 300; “Our Arrows will blot out the sun” “….then we will fight in the shade”), dark comedy that often deals with recently deceased on Jake’s case (mainly as a defense mechanism when he’s left with no options but to investigate suspicious passings and has to do examinations of the body(ies) as per his detective skill in forensics) and finally, slapstick, Three Stooges style slapstick
3. Somewhat a hybird between classic Arkham Knight style open world with individual cases across a city or few and some stealth missions, 3D beat ‘em up, and for boss battles, 3D fighting with plenty of space to move around whether on ground or floating in the air a la the Budokai Tenkachi and Raging Blast Dragon Ball games. There’s exists in the menu a Fighting Mode that pertains to that last style of play with a small character roster fetaung not just the Duo but also both close Allies (for example Mar’i and Jon) and foes (some DC staples including Deathstroke and Zsasz or some newer villains they the two encountered recently)
4. He sort of did when he debuted his brand new blue Discowing colored outfit when helping Nightwing and Starfire take down a HIVE Five robbery. All he had prior to that small adventure was his moniker having bird in it so when the villains are beaten and some news reporters ask him about what his mantle is named, Jake took only look at a blue sky above and hastily said Skybird as a means to get out of their bombardment of questions. The next morning, the papers declare him Skybird and the rest was history
5. He’s currently coming up with a dark purple and grey Sleath version of his Nightwing suit which can enable him to blend into the shadows during spying missions since while his blue can theoretically work out fine enough, a darker color scheme can help better if he plans to pick up on schemes being plotted more up close
6. Mainly Jake as a ‘Robin’ was limited in being Nightwing’s particular partner during patrols and capers in Bludhaven, similar to when Cass was briefly operating as a Batgirl in Hong Kong. For the official Robin who does work alongside Batman at Gotham, that honor (at least in this fanon verse of mine but I digress) goes to Jake’s beloved uncle Tim(my) Drake. Jake transitioning to the Skybird mantle further solidified that notion of being technically his own mantle that just so happens to take heavy inspiration, tactics and aesthetics to The Boy Wonder.

Get to know me tag game!
Exactly what it says on the tin, I was tagged by @samblerambles for this one!
Top 3 Ships: I hope this question means just, like, currently, cause no way could I choose a top 3 of all time 😭. Current Nuclear-Levels-of-Brainrot Blorbo ships are: 1) Jeca (Jesse x Beca, Pitch Perfect); 2) Zelink (Link x Zelda, primarily Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom); and 3) Zekkna (Jaina x Zekk, Star Wars Legends/Young Jedi Knights). Honorable mentions go to the polyam versions of these ships tho (JessexBecaxChloe and Jaina's Mini Harem aka JainaxZekkxJag(xmaybe Kyp but I'm not sold on him). And maybe also YonaxSidonxLinkxZelda, which I just think is neat and fun)
Favorite color: yellow! I love a good golden, sunny yellow I gotta say 😁
Last Song: unintentionally, Cake by Itzy (played on the radio at the boba place I went to today); intentionally, Mr. Perfectly Fine (Fearless Vault Track by Taylor Swift)
Last Book: you know what, it's been 7 months since I last read anything, I think that officially makes this answer None until I get around to reading another book 😅.... Or it's the Little Golden Books baby's first biography on Taylor Swift. Which might actually be cringier 😅 (cringe is dead and it's a cute book etc etc but goddamn does this still say something about my ability to read actual books nowadays rip)
Last Movie: The Eras Tour Movie, preceded by The Barbie Movie
Currently Watching: nothing intentionally. I like watching some of the MeTV block of classic 70's/80's/90's shows tho. I'm always down for classic Macgyver and Emergency!
Current obsession: while you might come to the conclusion, based on this post, that it's Taylor Swift, I'm actually still fairly normal about her I promise 😅 I maintain the distinction that I'm a swiftie, but I'm not a Swiftie™. There's a difference. No, the actual answer is only mentioned once so far: Pitch Perfect, more specifically Jeca (and also SwanSongs aka Jesse/Beca/Chloe), even more specifically the secret good sequel to the third movie where Jeca can still win (and everyone is truly, canonically queer in a myriad of ways) that lives rent-free in my head, multiple pages of my sketchbooks, and as the Big Damn Fic™ I've been posting very slowly to AO3 since last year. Don't believe me? I'm gonna add '#jeca' and '#not to Blorbo on main but' to the tags of this post, look through the reblogs and actual blogs I've tagged over the past couple years and you'll truly understand how deep it all goes.
Currently Working On: allegedly, it's chapter 2 of the Big Damn Fic™ I just mentioned, 'these hands had to let it go free and- (This Love came back to me)', for which i just posted the ending a couple weeks ago as its own fic in the series to show that I'm doing something with it.
Country You Want to Visit: Scotland, Norway, and New Zealand. And also maybe Iceland. Pretty much in that order. I'd take a tour of Europe too tbh but those are the Big 3 (4).
Tags for Funsies: @thesorrowoflizards @lord-owlsnake @qcboeifzzz @beautiful-flutey @avian-violet and anyone else who sees this and wants to do it! Go for it! (No pressure tho ofc)

Vygo doesn't have his back scars anymore? :o I know this might be annoying but what other changes are there now with the new cankn aside from the fur instead of spines and the veils for women?
Not anymore, I changed the accident in which he'd gets his scars. No more being dragged by a mammoth. Now he has several scars across his body, and the one over his right eye. Indrys also carries some scars from this accident, the main one being a small limp in her right leg. In this new accident (that I will post here), Indrys fractures her leg, but thanks to Varanar unnatural physiology, she recovers and the limp decreases a with time, but it's still visible if you pay a little more attention.
Other changes include the rite of passage into adulthood: now instead of going into a hunt alone, the adults-to-be need to visit a specific, ritualistic site with a rather difficult access. They need to bring a charm with them and tie this charm to a standing stone in this site, leaving their mark there alongside those of the Varanar that successfully passed into the rite before them. The standing stone is close to an obsidian deposit, and the adult-to-be should also grab a piece of obsidian from this deposit, which they'll use to craft their adulthood knives.
After completing the rite of passage, the male young adults are allowed to wear their honor belts, which are special, intricately detailed belts that mark their status as members of the clan and society. With time and as they conquer more achievements, the belts will become more intricate.
The female version of the honor belt is the veil. The veil marks the passage of the young female from girl to woman. There are specific veils for specific situations: single women, married women, widows, new mothers, grief etc. The design of veil changes with the condition of the woman wearing it, but each of them can also add or remove accessories to make them more personal. It's also worth mentioning that the veil's purpose is simply to show that the woman is an official member of the clan and society, not to hide their hair or heads. Women wear veils very loosely and their hair is still very visible with them. There are no hair, head or veil taboos.
Another important change are the horses. Now their horses are not just normal horses, their anatomy has been modified to make them bulkier and more prehistoric looking. They also don't have the range of colors modern horses have, and most of them share the same trait as the wild horses. They also have five toes, with three hoof-toes touching the ground and two in the process of disappearing.
Now for the new hunting accident: (This is not a formally written story, it's taken from my worldbuilding and story notes so excuse the informality!)
NEW HUNTING ACCIDENT
Vygo and Indrys had gone hunting for a clan celebration. Vygo had already gotten his game, and it was strapped to Sitsi's hindquarters.
He and Indrys had just gotten her game: an argali, a prize whose horns she was eager to have displayed as a trophy inside their yurt. They were strapping the animal to Badu's hindquarters, when they heard the growl of a beast.
The beast had been attracted by the smell of blood, and was going in their direction. As fast as they could, the twins finished tying the argali to Badu, and both climbed up on their horses to gallop away.
But in their hurry, they couldn't tie the argali properly, and it ended up getting loose and dragging behind Badu and Indrys, slowing them down and making it difficult for the stallion to gallop. The beast encroached them and snatched the argali's corpse it in its claws, pulling it down and making Badu and Indrys topple over.
(Tentatively fracture idea) Badu fell over Indrys, fracturing her right tibia and displacing the bone. He became entangled in the rope tying the argali and couldn't get up. Indrys managed to pull her knife from her belt and cut the ropes holding Badu back. He got up and dashed away.
The beast attacked Indrys. She protected herself behind her arms, and the beast injured them, opening some gashes and bleeding them.
This all happened in mere seconds, and it was just enough time for Vygo to look back and witness the scene. He didn't think twice before assuming the war riding position of his clan: standing up on the stirrups and using only his feet to control the horse. His hands are off the reins and free to manage a weapone. He turned back and galloped with Sitsi towards the beast, to try to pull it away from Indrys.
He made Sitsi rear back and stomp the beast, who backed off from Indrys, but then recovered and attacked Vygo and Sitsi back. It scratched Sitsi's chest and she reared back again, beginning to topple over. When Vygo noticed his horse faultering, he unsheathed his knife and leapt off her back onto the nape of the beast. Sitsi fell down, scattering the contents of her saddle, the quivers of arrows and hunting spears.
Vygo wrestled with the beast while Indrys recovered from the attack she suffered. Her right leg ached incredibly and she noticed the bone pushing her skin out. Vygo stabbed the beast a few times with his knife, but it was difficult to do so with just one hand, the other trying to hold onto the beast's fur - fur that is also coarse and thick and makes it difficult to damage its skin. The beast struggled and dropped Vygo off its back, dropping him on the ground, and attacking him.
Indrys could just witness as the beast raked Vygo under its heavy body, its claws shredding his clothes and the skin beneath. The beast bit him and shook him around just like a dog does with the meat scraps it gets from its owners. He threw Vygo around just to jump over him again (think the scene from The Revenant).
Indrys despaired, beginning to weep and cry out for her brother. She reached out for her bow, but it was on Badu's saddle and the stallion is nowhere to be seen. Her mind raced, and took the only decision she could think of: push the fractured and dislocated bone back into place and attack the bear with her knife, and so she did. Enduring the excruciating pain, she got up, held onto the beast and stabbed it several times.
She stabbed the beast on its side relentless, trying to hit its kidneys and the organs that are not protected by the ribs. The beast turned his attention from Vygo to Indrys, but without the suport of her injured leg, she couldn't stay up properly, and fell to the ground.
But when the beast was about to attack her again, a spear came right out of its neck and the beast fell to it's side, lifeless. Indrys looked behind the bear to see a very injured Vygo standing with his hunting spear - which had fallen from Sitsi's saddle-quiver - in hands, impaling the bear.
Vygo let out a heavy and tired breath/grunt and fell down unconscious.
Indrys crawled to him. She saw the many gashes in his body and tried to stop the bleeding with her hands, then with pieces she tore off from her clothes, but it was too much, and she knew she had to take him back to the clan.
She whistled for the horses, and thankfully they both were nearby, and came back to her. She pulled Sitsi's reins, making the mare lay down. She then dragged Vygo over Sitsi's back. She did the same with Badu and crawled onto his back. She tied Sitsi's reins to Badu's saddle and headed to the clan as fast as she could.

I’ve been loving all these mermay daycare assistants! But it hit me that I haven’t seen any full animatronic versions. They’re all partly or fully organic. So I knew what I had to do.
Fazbear’s expands and opens up a brand new waterpark! Along with a kiddy pool and automated attendants. More reliable (and cheaper) than hired lifeguards! You’ll only see Sundrop during your visit to the park though. While the park did originally stay open after dark, after a few incidents involving the automated lifeguards, management decided it would be more beneficial to close before sunset.
Now I’m not planning on a full AU or anything with these guys. But you can’t help but to think up a little lore when you stare at these guys all day. Drawn from memory based off of @bamsara‘s Sun and Moon designs. (Which seem to have become my default... xD Colors are based (very) loosely off the official designs.

"New Friend! Want to play a game?! We should play a game!!"
"Okay, I've got a game for you! Try and sit still long enough for me to re-attach your arm."

Okay so I just wanted an excuse to do another animation. This time featuring Zen fixing something someone! Of course my brain instantly went to probably the most difficult/dangerous animatronic, @glitchysquidd's Inverted Sun!
Their fic "I'm not paid enough" is fucking amazing! I absolutely LOVE it so far. Their Sun is such a cool character. I have a hard time imagining him letting anyone repair him though! And an even harder time believing that he'd be able to sit still long enough.
Maybe Zen convinced him that he can give better hugs when he has BOTH arms...

Protomartyr & Stuck Live Show Review: 7/13, Thalia Hall, Chicago
Tumblr media
BY JORDAN MAINZER
“Tap calls the time,” Joe Casey sang last Thursday at Thalia Hall as Protomartyr performed “Elimination Dances”, a standout track from their new album Formal Growth in the Desert (Domino). Like many of the band’s best songs, its inspirations are obscure, this particular instance taken from a game in a 50′s dance manual: Once you’re tapped out, you stop. Given the Detroit punk band’s generally bleak nature, it’s not hard to find the referenced game a fitting metaphor our everyday life, trying to survive in a capitalist hell world. But consider that Formal Growth was written in the context of the death of Casey’s mother, recorded in an actual desert at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, TX with producer Jake Aron. Casey didn’t aim to create something or find meaning out of emptiness, per se, but answer the question, “Once tap calls the time, how do the rest of us move on?” Luckily for him, and for us, there’s music.
Tumblr media
I’ve seen Protomartyr a bunch of times. I never would have thought to describe one of their shows as life-affirming, but Thursday’s was, from the younger segment of the crowd’s persistent moshing to the unexpectedly anthemic quality of the band’s performance. The live version of Formal Desert opener "Make Way” traded the studio version’s openness for a much mightier, choppier stomp. The crowd reframed the anxiety-riddled namesake refrain of Relatives in Descent chugger “The Chuckler”--“I guess I’ll keep on chucklin’ till there’s no more breath in my lungs”--as an absurdist call to arms. The normally stoic Casey performed the entirety of The Agent Intellect’s “Why Does It Shake?” on the barrier between the stage and the crowd, about as close to spirited as he’ll ever be. Even the band’s chosen setlist seemed authored specifically to amp up the crowd. I mean, they could have played “Let’s Tip The Creator”, which chides the way tech billionaires treat art as a commodity, just as much of a charged bummer as the rest, but its subdued timbres are harder to dance to. Protomartyr’s instead taking the Gang of Four route, favoring, say, the skittering drums of “Fun in Hi Skool”.
Tumblr media
As this was the last show of the tour, Casey joked, “We’ll either be so tight, it will be the best show of our lives, or so tired it’ll be the shittiest.” Guitarist Greg Ahee, bassist Scott Davidson, and drummer Alex Leonard at least made sure it wasn’t the latter, of course. But it was the addition of The Breeders’ Kelley Deal as a full-time touring member of the band that elevated older songs even more than it provided faithful renditions of those whose studio versions she was on. Her voice subbed for the “I have arrived” echo on Under Color of Official Right’s “Maidenhead”, and her backing harmonies beautifully contrasted the ugliness of “Pontiac 87″. And her guitar tones on "Polacrilex Kid” seemed lifted straight from the Hawaiian twang of Last Splash’s “No Aloha”, an inspired replacement for the studio version’s pedal steel. Casey clearly remains eternally thankful. He once said in an interview with NPR, “Basically, the band comes up with amazing music and it's my job to not screw it up too much.” It’s all I could think about as I watched him sip from a Budweiser can, nodding like he was impressed while watching Leonard hammer away during the extended intro of “Jumbo’s”. If he sings on “The Author”, “Time's your enemy / Every gift you see will be taken for sure,” live, he demonstrates the unspoken flipside: Enjoy the gifts while you can.
Tumblr media
Local post-punk band Stuck, who I saw open for Metz last winter, was the perfect primer for Protomartyr. They, too, sing about the effects of the decline of America, albeit with a nervy, wiry yelp that recalls bands like Devo and Squid. Lead singer Greg Obis was quick to point out how honored the band was to open for Protomartyr, one of his favorites. It’s easy to see the influence on their new album Freak Frequency (born yesterday). A track like “Fools Idol”, its descriptions of “violence unending” and “the boss descending,” is very Casey-esque in its brand proclamations. And like Protomartyr now, Stuck is that much more loud and urgent live, foregoing, for instance, the studio acoustic instrumentation of “Scared” for all electric jitters. However, unlike those of the perennially offline Casey, Stuck’s songs are riddled with technology-induced worries. At Thalia Hall, drummer Tim Green’s disorienting use of sample pads was an effective mirror for Obis’ admission he’s “distracted all over again” on “Loose Your Cool”. Green’s motorik drums and Obis’ and Ezra Saulnier’s sharp guitarwork reflected the pain of similar cycles of smartphone despair on “Time Out”. The almost hilariously plodding pace of “Planet Money” made a circus out of the song’s targets, the pundits who comment on the health of the economy as if it truly affects the everyday life of our most vulnerable. And then there was set closer “The Punisher”, the only song that saw Obis sing harmonically, sans paranoid screams. On the track, he deftly summarizes the absurdity of the January 6th insurrection, facetiously winking and nodding, “The future never looked so bright.” Even if the world that Protomartyr and Stuck envelop does everything in its power to suggest otherwise, upon leaving Thalia Hall on Thursday, you could, perhaps, agree.

How to Get Minecraft Capes
How do I obtain Minecraft capes
Prior to this, they were only available to Minecon attendees You can now purchase your very personal Minecraft capes. You can now purchase them in Minecraft Java and Bedrock.
Tumblr media
Jen Rothery
Updated July 11, 20, 22 at 07:13 ET.
How do you get hold of Minecraft capes you ask? There are rumors, whispers that there is a mythical piece of cloth which is worn on the top of Minecraft players on their shoulders. Legends speak of a variety of Minecraft caps that were given to the most fortunate players over the years. Capes can also alter the look of Minecraft Elytra (the magical wings found on the end-ships), as they share the same space on a player's back. It's not a surprise that Minecraft capes are sought after, but it's been a challenge to locate them.
Anyone who attended a Minecon event before Minecon Earth 2017 each received Minecraft capes every year, there was a new color and design. The personal caps are rarer that are presented to individuals to honor their achievements. Reddit user U/billyk_ received the turtle cape after suggesting that Mojang include turtles in Minecraft.
If you're unable come up with a suggestion that's comparable to turtles, or can time travel back to Minecons past it isn't possible to purchase any of these Minecraft capses in the Java edition. They're a bit more common in the Bedrock version, as some skin packs in the Marketplace contain them. If you'd like to have them free, you can try on a cape using the assistance of Minecraft mods, though it'll only be visible to you. There is one currently available Minecraft cape for the Java version, but it's not available for purchase it's not available yet, so keep reading to learn how to obtain it. https://gamemusichall.net/
Transfer your account to Minecraft to gain a Minecraft cape
Mojang announced in a blog post all Minecraft Java Edition accounts will be migrated from Mojang to Microsoft. This is a mandatory change. If you don't switch when the time comes you'll not be able to play Minecraft until you install the launcher.
On the plus side, however after you sign into Minecraft using your Microsoft account, you'll gain access to a shiny new cape - and possibly more as Mojang hints at players receiving 'more than one outfit to show off'. Mojang doesn't automatically create new Minecraft accounts.
This official Mojang blog post will show you how to do it.
How to activate Minecraft capes
You can put on your official Minecraft cape prior to launching the game if you own one. However the capes you have Bedrock capes are only available to the version you have. This is also true for any capes you earn in the Minecraft Java version.
Open the app and then click the button to open the Dressing Room from your main menu. Next, click the tab on the left of the screen with a red cape and the Mojang logo. This will show all of your capes that are available So, pick one and click on equip.
To play the Java version, you need to launch the Launcher and click on Minecraft: Java Edition on the left side of the screen. There are a variety of options at the top including Skins. Click this option to bring up all your skins currently available. From here, you can either create an entirely new skin or modify an existing one. You can see all of your officially-available caps by clicking on the option to select Skin File.
Find a cape by using Minecraft mods
What if your avatar needs a cape but you don't want to shell out for the cape that is free to migrate? You can create your own cape with mods. You can acquire any of the most sought-after capes in the game - or, even better than any cape you can imagine - with mods such as the Advanced Capes Mod.
There's a caveat to this that other players you interact with on multiplayer Minecraft servers will not be able to view your cape unless they have the same mods installed. The only way to have caps that everyone can see is by waiting for official capes to be gifted to you from Mojang as it migrates your account.
That's all you need to know about getting yourself a cool Minecraft cape If you're looking for a cape to add a touch of style to your outfit here are the top Minecraft skins we've found, or you could kit yourself out with a complete outfit of Minecraft Netherite armor. 33 Cheap Streetwear Brands In 2022 (Stylish, Hype, Affordable)
Most Stylish & Affordable Streetwear Brands In 2022
With streetwear holding such a powerful position with younger buyers, the demand for cheap streetwear brands is rising.
There aren’t many other fashion styles that have managed to evolve and stay current while still honoring the origins and iterations that came before them.
This article is for both the die-hards of the streetwear style and newcomers looking for affordable streetwear brands without breaking the bank.
This article will introduce you to 35 budget streetwear brands that are breaking through now in 2022.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
1/33 STÜSSY
Top Quality Streetwear Staples With Edgy Designs UNITED STATES
From $29.95
EDITOR’S NOTE
“Great streetwear brand known for collaborations with other cool streetwear brands – check out their “featured” section.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in California, US, with flag stores in New York, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Milan, and London – Ships worldwide.
Launched in California, Stüssy dominates the streetwear scene.
It all started in the eighties – as a small graphic T-shirt brand – offering worldwide shipping since then.
At this point, everyone knows the history of this seminal Californian brand, built around the local surf and skate culture.
But if you don’t know, Stussy’s reputation evolved from a chilled-out surfer store into a famous urban brand of the ’90s.
Moreover, what’s interesting is that despite the sales kept growing, the label hasn’t lost sight of its origins.
The brand is famous for streetwear-styled tees, bottoms, jackets, hoodies, hats, and shorts at meager prices.
You can also find affordable collaborations with high-end designer brands and lite streetwear pieces.
I like the brand’s tees and hoodies ranging from $30 to $80 and streetwear jeans for women under $150.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
2/33 KITH
Best Affordable Streetwear Sneakers & Technical Clothing UNITED STATES
From $50
EDITOR’S NOTE
“A streetwear label with special treats for the whole family – pay attention to the brand’s official website for discounted streetwear for men, women, and kids.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in New York, US – Ships worldwide.
Once a footwear brand, Kith is a New York-based streetwear brand.
However, true to its origins, Kith is known mainly for its streetwear sneaker collections.
However, you’ll love the brand’s apparel lines, which are quite popular with the streetwear community looking for value for money.
In particular, I love the brand’s collaborations with Coca-Cola, New Balance, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, and even Disney.
In fact, it was these collaborations that turned Kith into a symbol among streetwear style aficionados.
As a recap, with logo-heavy patterns and urban, loose, oversized cuts, Kith is the solution to affordable streetwear sneakers for women & men.
3/33 DENIM TEARS
Affordable Statement Streetwear Apparel In Bright Colors UNITED STATES
From $35
EDITOR’S NOTE
“Great streetwear clothing made in the USA, from 100% EcoLife cotton, for those into sustainable streetwear apparel.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in Los Angeles, US – Ships worldwide.
Denim Tears is a lovely and affordable streetwear brand driven by a social mission.
The creator of Denim Tears, Tremaine Emory, has been championing black culture and racial justice for a long time.
Emory also pushes all the brands he collaborates with to do the same.
He recently posted a design version of Chuck Taylor on IG, inspired by the ‘African-American Flag’ painting by David Hammons.
He then outlined the conditions of release to Nike, requiring they push to defund police departments and put minorities in leadership roles within the company.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
4/33 10.DEEP
Well-priced Streetwear Releases With Meaningful Vibes UNITED STATES
From $2.00
EDITOR’S NOTE
“A streetwear brand of rare heritage that employs modern cuts and a lot of vibrant graphics.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in New York, US – Ships worldwide.
Created by Scott Sasso in 1995, 10.Deep is a New York-based streetwear brand that flowed with the tides of graphic tee trends over the past couple of decades.
While purists now balk at its colorful, almost-eyesore graphics, that’s what rakes in all the ‘hypebeasts’ dollars, whether we want to acknowledge it or not.
And, whether the punk and skate influences drew you in, or you dig the ’90s-referencing anime iconic graphics, 10.Deep has the perfect formula:
“… one part history, one part regular and distinctive drops, and another part super reasonable prices.“
And, truth be told, between history and aspirations, you can’t get any more balanced pieces from a cheap streetwear brand that makes premium look average.
5/33 DIET STARTS MONDAY
Low-budget Streetwear Clothing With Political Messages UNITED STATES
From $10
EDITOR’S NOTE
“The ideal streetwear label for those interested in political pieces and loud prints to subtly showcase one’s rebellious side.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in Washington D.C., US – Ships worldwide.
Launched as a retail and restaurant concept in Washington, DC, Diet Starts Monday was created to last only three months.
However, the mad success the store experienced had it up for over a year.
Moreover, once the store was closed, the continuing demand made the brand continue operating and selling cheap streetwear via pop-ups across the country.
Over the years, the brand has partnered with various companies to release budget streetwear collections – from $45 up to $200.
I invite you to check out the brand’s latest releases which feature anti-police brutality messages and a wide array of “Stop Killing Black People” streetwear tees.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
6/33 A-COLD-WALL
Accessible Luxury Streetwear With Futuristic Styles UNITED KINGDOM
From $120
EDITOR’S NOTE
“A superb streetwear label expert in reversible and oversized designs with a bit of Britishness flavor and taste.”
Shop Women
Shop Men
LOCATION | Based in London, UK – Ships worldwide.
London-based fashion designer Samuel Ross started his British streetwear label A-Cold-Wall with functional design, fabric, and architecture in mind.
But, as the climate changed, so did his focus on streetwear couture.
Moreover, as Black Lives Matter protests crossed the ocean into the UK, the brand reacted by donating to its BLM financial aid program.
The program works by creating ten grants in various categories, from streetwear fashion to urban planning and public administration to food services.
7/33 HYPE.
Best Basic Streetwear Sets For Women, Men, & Unisex UNITED KINGDOM
From $9.99
EDITOR’S NOTE
“A streetwear brand focused on apparel and lifestyle products – backpacks, bottles – to match and augment one’s streetwear attitude.”
Shop US
Shop UK
LOCATION | Based in London, UK – Ships worldwide.
What started as a T-shirt competition back in 2011 now joins the iconic list of cheap streetwear brands with great success.
That’s because Hype. has turned into a fully-fledged streetwear name centered around all-over logo graphics.
The vivid and intense images are signatures of sorts, whether describing floral, geometric, or tie-dye design.
As the T-shirt, in general, goes through a revolution, or at least a reworking, HYPE manages to avoid the plain, solid-color trap.
All these aspects result in both flashy and statement-worthy without losing sight of comfort and price friendliness.
The label also offers a plus-size clothing line for those curvy gals!
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
8/33 OBEY
Stylistic & Affordable Street Style Clothing UNITED STATES
From $25
EDITOR’S NOTE
“Empowered by activism, Obey is a streetwear label with a powerful message and a superb artistic feel.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in California, US – Ships to most countries.
There’s no shortage of trendy streetwear pieces showcasing Obey’s loud logo.
Obey is a streetwear clothing brand started by Shepard Fairey and packed with politically themed illustrations.
Thanks to the ubiquitous ‘Zumiez’ carrying the label at reasonable prices, the company earned a “mal” streetwear reputation, at least in the US.
At times, this streetwear brand is engaged in political and social commentary – see the rise of parody tees for further evidence.
9/33 BROWNSTONE
Best Affordable Classic Streetwear Brand UNITED STATES
From $45
EDITOR’S NOTE
“A rare place for streetwear classics and revisited-OG streetwear pieces that one must have as high-quality investment pieces.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in Los Angeles, US – Ships worldwide.
Brownstone is a streetwear brand on the radar of Lebron James, James Harden, and the cool kids at Complex.
Also, the brand was enlisted to create the official merch for the Roots Picnic 2020.
If that doesn’t make you want to get on board, take a closer look at the designed and sold shirt that raised over $45,000 for various BLM causes.
I also like the brand’s comfy shorts and cozy-cool, hoodies that won’t break the bank.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
10/33 MENACE
Best Affordable Graphic Tees & Outwear Streetwear UNITED STATES
From $11.25
EDITOR’S NOTE
“A great streetwear label for refreshing and innovative capsule streetwear collections out of the mass market norm.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in Los Angeles, US – Ships worldwide.
Menace was launched in Los Angeles by Steven Mena, aiming to propagate a disappearing (maybe) but not-defunct streetwear form.
Over and over, we are told that genuine streetwear has died after shedding its local, subculture-based reputation to a global type of existence.
It is true from multiple perspectives:
“social media-fueled American hypebeast aesthetic, eCommerce making it possible for anyone, anywhere, and the advent of exclusive drops into general streetwear.“
However, for as long as high-end contemporary fashion brands like Balenciaga borrow (steal) metaphors from streetwear brands, I know that streetwear is anything but dying.
I love the label for the graphic tees, outerwear, and caps pulled from hip-hop and punk themes, away from sun-splashed over commercial Venice Beach imagery.
11/33 HUF
Best Budget Streetwear Outfits For Skateboarders UNITED STATES
From $18.19
EDITOR’S NOTE
“A perfect mix of ‘staying ahead of the curve style’ and ‘honor of the 90’s iconic skateboarding and streetwear stars, this is a streetwear brand filled with nostalgic vibes.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in California, US – Ships worldwide.
The founder of the HUF, Keith Hufnagel, grew up skateboarding in the gritty streets of New York City in the late ’80s.
Back in those days, skateboarding was not popular at all:
“It was somehow linked to a weird blend of punk rock and hip-hop, forming a counterculture of outcasts misunderstood by the classic genres and the masses.“
However, this way of living would ultimately shape Hufnagel’s outlook on life and influence his skate streetwear apparel collections.
Nowadays, the shop/retail space HUF brings together some of the most respected brands of the skateboard, streetwear, and sneaker culture communities.
Keith’s brand, HUF essentials work almost like a capsule collection; there, you can find streetwear pieces “Made by skateboarders, for skateboarders.”
HUF represents a more refined and forward-thinking skateboard brand and any individual inspired by the vast array of countercultures that parallel skateboard mentality.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
12/33 SPAGHETTI BOYS
Fun Graphics With Strong Messages UNITED STATES
From $36
EDITOR’S NOTE
“Underground and highly artistic streetwear merch.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in New York, US – Ships worldwide.
If you’re going to do graphic tees, whatever you create better be pretty darn memorable.
That’s the motto of Spaghetti Boys, a cheap streetwear brand started by Kerwin Frost and Ray Martinez.
The label is unabashedly owning the viral-marketed, Off-White-originating, celebrity-endorsed roots – defies all that with expansive, doodle-like images and outlandish designs.
The garments resemble hybrid concert tees with hand-drawn, grotesque-leaning scribbles you might encounter somewhere in the middle of a high school student’s textbook, crafted in a moment of boredom.
Moreover, you don’t have to see the brand’s logo to know the tee is a “Spaghetti Boys” design, as every cut functions strictly as a signature.
13/33 RENOWNED LA
Fashionable Streetwear With Summer Color Palettes UNITED STATES
From $20
EDITOR’S NOTE
“With an adventurous and world-recognized ethos, this cheap streetwear brand has been featured in major fashion publications and magazines for the last 2 years or so.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in Los Angeles – Ships worldwide.
Driven by the ever-so-imaginative creative director John Dean, Renowned LA continues to push street menswear to new heights.
This time, Dean focuses on diversity and sustainability, as seen in the label’s kilter streetwear collection entitled “Against All Odds.”
The collection explores the American Dream and features robust graphic t-shirts featuring pinnacles of black culture since the Civil Rights Era.
The best part is that all proceeds will go to ‘The George Floyd Foundation’ and ‘Reclaim the Block.’
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
14/33 KNOW WAVE
Affordable Streetwear For Culture Lovers & Graphics Fans UNITED STATES
From $19
EDITOR’S NOTE
“A powerful streetwear label drawing energy and inspiration from a multi-artistic international community that has helped build the label so far.”
Shop Now
LOCATION | Based in Los Angeles, US, with flag stores in New York, Los Angeles, London, Moscow, and Tokyo – Ships worldwide.
What’s better? – to borrow from or to get inspired by Peter Saville?
Conceived as a platform for LA art gallery Morán in 2012, Know Wave ties in both a radio station and clothing line that mimics the minimalism of Saville’s work, especially the club posters, album covers, and single art produced for Factory Records.
Appearing on countless tees, hoodies, jackets, and shoes over the past five or so years, the brand takes a shot at recognizable themes such as New Order, Power, Corruption & Lies, with vivid artwork and retro feels.
The prices are a bit more budget-friendly, so there’s always something on the cheap side.
Overall, the garments, while still logo and graphics-based, have a certain understated versatility.
15/33 PALACE
Stylish, Functional & Affordable Street-punk Clothing UNITED KINGDOM
From $47
EDITOR’S NOTE
“A streetwear label that makes sure its street-punk irreverence is striking and loud no matter what or where you are.”
Shop Women
Shop Men
LOCATION | Based in London – Ship to most countries, including the US.
If you’re trying to be the cool kid on the streets again, Palace might be the streetwear brand for you.
Despite being a young brand (started in 2010), Palace has become quite popular, essentially thanks to exciting collaborations with Adidas and Reebok.
I find Palace an excellent brand for cheap tracksuits, crop jackets, tees, cargo pants, and even baseball caps.

16/33 FTP
Confrontational & Unapologetic Streetwear Styles UNITED STATES
From $29
EDITOR’S NOTE
“An independent and provocative streetwear brand that defies norms and authorities.”

LOCATION | Based in California – Ships worldwide.
FTP, or Fuck the Population, was started by Zac Clark when he was only 15.
Clark was making t-shirts for his friends to wear in school and printed “FUCK” backward on them because, you know, teachers and that stuff…
Since its inception, the brand has remained affordable and controversial.
Zac, a gun enthusiast, once posted so many images of his firearms on social media that it led to a raid of the FTP warehouse by the cops, resulting in an arrest and $415k bail.
Another interesting tidbit about this enigmatic label is that Clark wears bandanas to shield his identity, as he is hesitant to be the ‘face’ of the brand.
17/33 POST-IMPERIAL

“I make products that shock people. Once they pick it up, they start learning about the story behind each creation.“
A true labor of love, Post-Imperial uses local Nigerian artists to hand-paint patterns on the clothing before fabrics are hand-dyed through a process developed by the Yorubas.
When done, these unique streetwear clothes are shipped to New York, where everything is cut and sewn.
Whether it is beautiful button-up tops, patchwork shorts, or galactic pocket tees, Post-Imperial has it, plus a breathtaking approach to design.

Born in sunny and posh Cali, The Hundreds is a rare fashion label dedicated to street culture fashionistas.
Started 16 years ago by Bobby Kim and Ben Shenassafar, the brand has stayed on a relatively steady course.
The brand has terrific pieces inspired by skateboarding, surfing, hip-hop, and punk culture vibes, all starting at around $30 or less.
Thanks to the brand’s growing visibility and clout, The Hundreds has moved into luxury streetwear, which has seemed like the next logical and inevitable step.
Moreover, thanks to their latest collaborations, including Disney and Adidas, The Hundreds has gained an aspirational, get-this-drop feel.
While most of the brand’s pieces are affordable, some T-shirts, caps, outerwear, and denim go above $200, especially the color-blocked combinations.

The label draws a strong influence from Brit Punk culture and a touch of Japanese fashion elements.
The main ingredients of Undercover are outlandish lines and designs for the basic T-shirt, and quirky, eye-catching graphics.
Please note that some of Undercover’s rare streetwear pieces can be a bit on the pricey side.
For example, the brand’s affordable luxury and effortlessly-chic T-shirt collections start from €250.

20/33 EMBELLISH NYC

“A rare label that has managed to create undeniable statement streetwear pieces from denim, all at super affordable prices.”

LOCATION | Based in NYC, US – Ships worldwide.
Embellish NYC is an LA-based denim brand that feels fresh and cool right now.
The brand delivers what we call elevated streetwear, even though it reads like an oxymoron and a paradox of some sort; nobody cares…
Overall, Embellish NYC creates clothing meant to be rough-and-tumble casual, influenced by a subculture that nevertheless ends up on a runway at Fashion Week.
Nothing about the label designs seems like direct cash or status grab.
Rather, slim fits in standard and biker styles when riding cruiser bikes for women get ripped, splattered, and faded in varying degrees.
I bet that, with the right tools, you could do something similar yourself.
However, rather than ending up as a DIY project gone wrong, Embellish NYC pulls it off with finesse.

Founder Kacey Lynch, a strong advocate for storytelling, refers to Bricks & Wood as the “South Central” brand.
Lynch thought his idea for a clothing brand was a ‘dope’ idea but refused to put it out there before he had cemented the story he wanted to tell; a rare style that does not compromise quality, genderless, and sustainability.
Nowadays, the brand’s creations are built from high-quality materials by top cutters and sewers.
As such, Bricks & Wood pieces are designed for a lifetime and can be worn by both men and women.
23/33 ELWOOD
Vintage Street-Style Clothes & Accessories UNITED STATES
From $30
EDITOR’S NOTE
“A unique streetwear label with a deep focus on re-creating authentic vintage clothing styles via iconic fabrics and cuts.”

LOCATION | Based in Los Angeles, US – Ships worldwide.
Nowadays, at the heart of streetwear, Elwood, another California-based brand, started in the mid-’90s with a vision to rework casual apparel.
A bit complicated to start with, the concept eventually involved skaters in the design process.
Today, the brand’s initial aesthetic recalls the early 90s looks, with its tapered jeans offering enough space for movement, long shirt tail-style tees, and all-over plaid and checkerboard patterns.
Don’t get me wrong, it is not quite the 90s fashion you remember, but close.
The clothing has a bit more flexibility, and the somewhat minimal look tends to veer away from loud graphics.
I recommend this cheap streetwear brand as a store where you can put together your nostalgia-laden capsule collection – with a fresh touch.
Simply put, Elwood’s designs and prices recall the versatility and accessibility attributes that streetwear had two decades ago.

Those of you in your mid-30s most likely recall the independently run t-shirt shops of the ’90s.

Those old kinds of stores used to carry a mix of band tees, pop culture parodies, and kitschy statement prints, often available only there.
Paradise NYC is just that, a streetwear brand that brings back memories of those bold and sometimes borderline-inappropriate graphics.
Started by the LA skater Sean Pablo, the brand was formerly known as Palisades Paradise, occasionally spelled PARADI3E.

It doesn’t feel right to mention black-owned streetwear brands without recognizing the late Nipsey Hussle’s brand, The Marathon Clothing.
The label was started by the rapper with his brother, Samiel Asghedom, along with A&R of Def Jam, Steve Carless, and marketing strategist and public figure Karen Civil.
Since its launching day, Nipsey’s mission has been clear: to empower the local community and people through smart casual clothes that “have something to say.”

The Air Jordan 3 “Fire Red” Is as Classic as It Gets
Jordan Brand rolls out a high volume of new Air Jordan colorways every year, but ask any true sneakerhead and they’d tell you that it simply hits different when the OGs are reincarnated. In 1988, the Tinker Hatfield-designed Air Jordan 3 was released in four makeups: “White Cement,” “Black Cement,” “True Blue” and the “Fire Red.” And, after 34 years, the Air Jordan 3 “Fire Red” — the sneaker that MJ earned MVP honors, Slam Dunk champion and a Defensive Player of the Year award — is finally making its glorious comeback.
Let’s break down the palette first. The tumbled leather uppers are given a matted white finish and come complemented by dark gray elephant-printed overlays, the latter of which arrive with thinner design lines more akin to its ‘88 version. From there, the titular accents take center stage as they ornament the eyelets, Jumpman logos, midsoles and the Nike Air branding parked on the heels that Jordan purists have been longing for. The overall Chicago-inspired color scheme is always just an element to appreciate in and of itself. Buying Jordans is like copping a Ferrari. Ferraris still look good when fitted in different colors, but when the Italian sports car is dressed in all-red, it’s a bonafide chef’s kiss. The same effect goes for Jordan retros that are styled in Chicago Bulls colors.
Details on the shoe box are also definitely worth mentioning. The original Air Jordan 3 packaging is being brought back to the table with its black lid and cement-patterned lower half. An adjustment to point out is that instead of the Jumpman logo that appeared on the lid of the previous launches, this box features the Nike Air logo. The kicks also come with a printed paper card that shows all of the Air Jordan 3’s tech specs, a salute to the original pairs that were accompanied by the exact same accessory.
The last occasions that the sneaker community saw the “Fire Red” hit shelves were back 1988, 2007 and 2013 (each iteration of which is pictured above) but there were distinguishable differences from the OG in those pairs’ quality, materials, shape and packaging. For one, the cement-covered overlays were dyed with a near-black hue and the elephant print lines were slightly too thick. The biggest gripe that Jordan purists have encountered was the heel counter which was emblazoned with the Jumpman insignia as opposed to the original Nike Air branding. However, sneakerheads that have been patiently waiting on this release can rejoice, because Jordan Brand made sure to not cut any corners with its 2022 rendition. Every detail on the kicks — from the quality to the colors to the packaging — has been meticulously thought out.
The level of nostalgia that the Air Jordan 3 “Fire Red” delivers to the older sneaker generation and introduces to the Gen-Z’s easily makes this one of the top Jordan releases of the year. What makes them even more appealing is their accessibility. These certainly won’t be shelf-sitters so if you’re interested in copping it’s best to enter all the raffles you can and set your alarm clocks for the SNKRS release. Otherwise, resell prices are currently sitting around $50-100 USD over the retail price before the official drop, and will likely remain so post-release. For those that strike out on release day, this is a strong indicator that you probably won’t have to cough up too much extra change to get your hands on a pair.
Peep a detailed look at the pair in the gallery above and note that the Air Jordan 3 “Fire Red” is slated to launch on September 10 via SNKRS and select retailers.

I have now read every single one of Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels, except for Live and Let Die, which I had to stop once I hit the chapter title which includes the N-word. Here’s a list of things you will encounter in these books:
James Bond throws up due to trauma at least once per book
Racism
No, really, more racism than you’re expecting
Yes, even for the 50s
At one point Bond writes a letter in his own pee
“All the real hep-cats smoke reefers!”
Many comments on the nature of American culture, including the “exotic pungency” of American road signs
Extended passages of James Bond being racist against various ethnicities you didn’t even know one COULD be racist towards
No seriously, James Bond inexplicably despises Bulgarians
A lengthy passage in which Bond shares his opinion that homosexuality is caused by giving women the right to vote
Bond gets tortured for the first time and immediately comes over all political and philosophical like, “Maybe communism is good actually, and also the Devil is a good guy?”
At one point Bond gets brainwashed by the KGB into trying to kill M
Bond is a grade-A Karen who delivers all of his restaurant orders with lengthy specifics as to how the food should be prepared, and gets pissy if it’s not up to his specifications.
“a gay, happy little crocodile”
Bond is very excited to learn that in New York there are places where you can watch porn with sound AND color.
James Bond is The Most Boring Man in the World. His hobbies include golf and complaining about food.
Late in the books, Bond’s fiancee is killed right in front of him, and he starts showing PTSD symptoms and, instead of being all macho-man “I don’t need no help,” immediately starts going to every doctor available trying to get treatment
At one point the government tries to offer him a knighthood or some such and Bond messages back that he refuses the knighthood and that “My principal reason is that I don’t want to pay more at hotels and restaurants.” When told that this is too rude, he amends it to, “I am a Scottish peasant and I will always feel at home being a Scottish peasant.”
At one point the Bond girl is tied down by the villain of the book to await being eaten alive by crabs. Bond is terrified for her, but she, being something of an amateur zoologist, knows perfectly well that crabs aren’t gonna eat a living human, so she just chills there on the beach and waits for them to go away.
There is literally a damsel in distress tied to the actual train tracks, presented without irony
An MI6 agent speculates, in an official report to headquarters, that the target may be homosexual because he can’t whistle. Apparently men who can’t whistle are gay.
Bond is drafted to act as the villain’s secretary not once, but two separate times in two separate books.
When Bond is at a boring party at a hotel conference room and is ordered by his employer to liven up the party, he accomplishes this by ORDERING THE HOTEL BAND, who were previously singing a censored version of some song, TO PERFORM A STRIP SHOW FOR HIM AND THE GUESTS WHILE SINGING THE DIRTY VERSION. This is his second idea, after he previously livened up the party by using one of the girls in the hotel band - the same one he wants to strip for him - as target practice by balancing a false pineapple on her head and shooting it.
Bond exchanges a look with a fellow secret agent that is said to be “the recognition that exists between crooks, between homosexuals, between secret agents.”
“A hand-painted sign said ‘SNAX’ and, underneath, ‘Hot Cock Soup Fresh Daily’.”
The backstory of the villain of The Man with the Golden Gun is as follows: there was once a circus elephant who got REALLY HORNY and then went on a rampage and was shot by the cops, and then came back to the circus to  pathetically and tragically attempt to perform its circus act one last time. The child who was supposed to ride the elephant in the circus act witnessed all of this, and when the cops shot the elephant dead while performing its tragic act, the boy grabbed a pistol and SHOT ONE OF THE COPS in revenge for HIS ELEPHANT DYING. And that boy grew up to be a deadly, womanizing, hired gun, with three nipples, whom MI6 speculates must be gay because he can’t whistle. And that’s the villain of the book.
These books will make you hate the British as much as every single villain seems to
Waaaayyy more casual drug use than you would expect
like, seriously, at one point Bond is AT DINNER WITH HIS BOSS in his boss’s fancy-ass club, and he orders an envelope full of benzedrine from HQ and just casually pours it into his glass to drink with his champagne.
M lives with the man who used to be M’s Chief Petty Officer on his last naval posting, and who had followed M into retirement, and I am pretty sure they are boyfriends.
When Bond sleeps with the Bond Girl of Dr. No, she orders him to “Take those off and come in” and “You owe me slave-time. Do as you’re told,” proving once and for all that James Bond is a switch, I rest my case your honor

BUG GAME MASTERPOST (AS OF NOV. 2022) TEXT-ONLY
heyhey! this isnt actually anything "official"! i just thought i’d make this for fun and to also spread around bug video games that others, who like the silly little critters as well, might enjoy!
- where you can find these games (game websites may be linked if available instead!)
this is the text-only version! click here if you want the gif/image-heavy version!
let's begin!
released games
hollow knight - website; finished - a challenging metroidvania! i personally found this game really fun though i did have to take breaks from the game due to some difficult fights and events lsfhdskj. its definitely the type of game thats fun to replay and see how much you've improved since first playing it! i also think the world building, implied lore, and characters are really well done! (i highly enjoy reading people's analysis posts of this game jksdfkj)
overall, i suggest this game if you enjoy challenging fights and platformers, creative characters, games with deep lore, and/or emotional osts!
bug fables - website; finished - i am emotionally attached to the blue moth. anyways! bug fables is a paper mario rpg inspired game (used to be called paper bugs actually!) and it has charming characters and a good story! this game has a very fun ost and you definitely fall in love with the characters as you learn more and more about them. i find the sidequests very much worth doing and also really fun as it makes you go around and interact with a lot of the npcs in the game! you'll end up seeing that a lot of them have unique personalities and are loveable in their own right :] !!
i suggest the game if you like rpgs, bright characters and settings, bubbly osts, and/or perhaps even learning a dark secret or 2?
bugsnax - website; finished - silly game about catching and eating bug-shaped foods! or food-shaped bugs? food bugs!!!! the horrors. all the bugsnax designs are super fun and some of them are challenging to catch which i think makes the game pretty fun! there's also a bunch of ways that u could catch a bugsnak, its just up to what you can think of! the horrors. the characters are also pretty loveable and they have really neat stories and getting to know them can change the course of the game (just the ending really actually)
highly suggest the game if you enjoy being a little creative with how you perform a task/solving puzzles, characters that are more than what they seem, and silly creative creature designs!
creepy castle - available on steam; played - i have yet to finish this game! but from what i've played, its pretty fun exploring around, reading lore tidbits, and doing the duel minigames! it has a neat retro style and you can change the colors/gui settings if i remember correctly!
i suggest the game if you like rpgs, pixelated style games, and/or minigames!
webbed - website; finished - super cute spider game about saving your bf, swinging around on and crafting webs, and making new friends! did i also mention that youre a spider that shoots lasers from their eyes? webbed is a really charming game that can be completed in just a few hours, even with all the bonus/side things that you can do!
i suggest it if you like pixelated style games, are a completionist, want a shorter game, or just want to be a silly little laser spider!
apico - website; finished - a relaxing game about keeping bees and restoring bee populations! recently they've added an update where you can help repopulate solitary bees and butterflies, and there's a bunch more content that they're planning to develop and release!! the characters have silly bee pun names and have neat dialogue!
(proceeds also go to charities that help repopulate native bee populations!)
grounded - website; played - grounded is an open world survival sandbox game (theres also a literal sandbox in the game) where you're a teen that's been shrunken down and must survive in the backyard while finding a way to bring yourself back to your original size. the game actually got a full release in back in september and i have yet to play it because my partner has not been able to play kfhskj. but we have played when it was in early access and it was super fun! there are giant spiders in the game but there's an accessibility setting that allows you to make the spiders more blobby in case you have arachnophobia! other than that it's really fun to go running around the game screaming and crying because the giant mosquito is about to 2-shot you. the base building is also pretty fun with a variety of materials you can make your base from as well as decor. there's also a variety of weapons and armors to choose from and create a build to optimally destroy bugs that are not so friendly. you can also tame some of the passive creatures and become extremely overprotective of them.
(i also highly recommend playing with friends!)
space moth dx - available on steam; played - an arcade-like shoot-em-up bullet hell where you play a moth shooting lasers at other laser shooting bugs! this is actually a fairly tough game if you're not familiar with these types of games. i personally have not gotten that far and have yet to play it again kslfhkjs but i think the art is super neat and the gameplay is pretty fun!
i recommend it if you enjoy bullet hells where you literally don't see anything But bullets (there is also space moth: lunar edition!)
bug academy - available on steam and switch; played - a pretty fun physics puzzle game where you control a swarm of bugs! there are different levels with different objectives and a star-based score depending on how well you do in each one! the only reason i havent finished this game is because im a completionist for it and got stuck on a level i have yet to get 3 stars on ksjfhkj. if you ever get this game, i highly recommend playing with a controller!
i suggest this game if you like puzzles, timed/stopwatch levels, trying to see how far you can chuck something, destroying buildings by chucking items, crying when you knock over your tower on accident, and/or being a silly bug swarm
crustacean nations - available on steam and itch.io; finished - woah moth!!! a game about crabs???? yeah they're getting a spot on this list, they're sea bugs to me. but anyways! crustacean nations is a fairly short game with only 3 levels (if i remember correctly) and a sandbox mode. you're essentially commanding a kingdom of crabs and you must defend your sand castle while destroying the other crab sand castles. there's also a pit where you can sacrifice crabs and summon a Big One. it doesn't take too much strategy to win each level but you still need to think about it a bit!
i suggest it if u want to play a brief n short army-building game! with crabs!
kill it with fire - website; finished - a silly game about exterminating spiders. as you progress through the game you get a bunch of new weapons to um. delete spiders with. there's also a bunch of challenges you can do and achievements to get! i've completely 100%'d the game just because it's kinda fun trying to do the challenges and collect all the achievements. the ending is also. a little messed up.
i suggest the game if you're a bit of a completionist, don't like spiders for some reason (i think theyre pretty neat), want to have a stress-relief game (or would it be stress inducing??), or want to see how goofy it gets
social moth - available on steam; heard of - a lot of my mutuals talk about and adore this game! i have not played it yet but it's wishlisted! here's a copy n pasted excerpt from the steam page: "Social Moth is a narrative platformer where you play as a small moth contending with social anxiety. Set in a close-knit community on the forest floor, the game allows the player to explore themes of mental health, relationships, and finding a sense of belonging."
i think i can suggest this game if you have social anxiety/want to understand social anxiety while also playing a puzzle platformer with an endearing art style and characters!
buggos - available on steam; heard of - ive had this game wishlisted for a while! here's a copy and pasted excerpt from the steam page: "Buggos is an RTS Auto Battler where you evolve your army into the perfect bug fighting force. You control a young hive mind bent on world domination, and your swarm will mostly listen to your every beck and call. Guide your swarm’s evolutionary path and breed your best bugs for world domination!"
i think i can suggest this game if you like the idea of world domination and slaughter, want a bug army building game, or enjoy pixelated style games.
i commissioned some bees - available on steam; heard of - did you know there's 10 of these games plus an advent edition?? these games are essentially just where's waldo bee edition and multiply those by like 1000. i've had this game wishlisted for a while but it hasnt been a priority pft. here's an excerpt from the steam page!: "The brief was simple. I commissioned artists to create a fantasy world, and hide as many bees as they can inside it. Now it’s your job to find them all! With 10 art pieces to choose from, and 1000+ bees, you will have a lot of searching to do."
bee simulator - website; heard of - i own the game but havent played it yet. the most ive done is watch markiplier play it hfkjsd. here's an excerpt from the epic games page: "The hive awakens as the sun's first rays warm the horizon. It's time to test your wings, receive orders from the Queen and begin your first mission. And that's just the start of your adventures. Humans want to cut down the tree that holds your hive, so your fate – and that of the whole swarm – rests on your tiny shoulders!" i think this game is more of an educational game aimed towards families and children but who knows! maybe some of you will enjoy it too?
i think i can recommend this game if you like bees :) and doing minigames/tasks/challenges!
black widow: recharged - website; heard of - an arcade shooter where you play a spider! i own this game but havent played it yet. here's an excerpt from the site: "Aim for a high score in the old school arcade mode and earn bragging rights with your name at the top of the leaderboard. Every mode and level is playable in local co-op mode with a friend."
centipede recharged - website; heard of - i've played centipede in an actual arcade but it was not this specific game so i dont know if the experience is around the same. (i own it but havent played it) centipede recharged is similar to black widow: recharged in terms of an arcade shooter as well as the description given
empires of the undergrowth - website; played - an army building game about ants! in the "main zone", you're an experimental ant species that seems to be able to take on traits of many other ant species. you play levels as real-life ant species and try to grow your colony and complete objectives that are given to you. the rewards you get from these levels are used to upgrade your lab species and after completing a set of levels, you'll be given a challenge using the lab species. i havent completed this game due to being stuck on one of the challenge levels fhksjd but i think its kind of fun
i suggest this game if you like army building games (similar to starcraft or warhammer) and the idea of making a huge ant colony and competing against other colonies
yoku's island express - available on steam; heard of - there's actually a lot more places where you can purchase yoku's island express (epic games, switch, gog, etc.) but their website is down so i decided to resort to linking the steam page. i currently own the game but have not played it! it's a game about you being a tiny postman exploring around islands, delivering packages, while also making new friends and saving the islands where you reside. it's a pinball platformer adventure game and it seems really cute and fun to play!
earthtongue - available on steam and itch.io; heard of - this game actually just got recommended to me after this was posted! earthtongue is a game where you watch over a world inhabited by fungi and bugs. here's an excerpt about the game!: "You will spend most of your time watching life grow and eat each other to survive. You might instead just peacefully watch the story of Earthtongue unfold on its own."
stonefly - website; heard of - stonefly is an adventure game where you control a bug-shaped mech! here's an excerpt from the site: "Harness the wind and soar through the wilderness of Stonefly, a chill and tranquil action-adventure game about self-discovery, legacy, and belonging. Glide your mech strategically among beautiful flora and dangerous fauna, confronting hungry bugs, adventures, and memorable characters."
to be released/in development games
hollow knight: silksong - website - the game that the hk fandom says doesn't exist and is actually a collective fever dream (it is 100% a real game, we're all just very excited for it to come out! /srs) the game is going to be like hollow knight (a challenging metroidvania) but this time the player plays as a new protagonist, who was a character in the first game, hornet! this game will have a new world to explore, new mechanics to master, new faces to meet, and much more.
bugaboo pocket - website - a really cute pixelated game about raising bugs! an excerpt from the site: "Bugaboo Pocket is a digital pet game where you raise bugs from egg to adult. How you care for your pet influences their personality and impacts the ecology around them. Inspired by real bugs!"
another crab's treasure - website - a game where you play as a hermit crab! you use trash in your surroundings as your shell and each "shell" provides a different effect that affects how you play the game! an excerpt from the site: "Another Crab’s Treasure is a soulslike adventure set in a crumbling underwater world. As Kril the hermit crab, you’ll need to wear the trash around you as shells to withstand attacks from enemies many times your size. Embark on an epic treasure hunt to buy back your repossessed shell, and discover the dark secrets behind the polluted ocean." (i recommend checking out their tiktok, some of the posts there are extremely funny)
dewdrop dynasty - steam page - a pixelated style metroidvania where you play as a gunslinging bee who lost their wings and finds themselves trapped in an unknown place. you'll meet interesting characters, challenging enemies, and also learn new skills and mechanics as you play the game. goodgis, dewdrop dynasty's dev, also posts a bunch of videos on youtube regarding game development tips and devlogs. (that's how my partner knew about the game and introduced it to me) a fun and charming game that will have mysteries to discover!
i am a caterpillar - dev's twitter - a game where you play as a caterpillar!: unbothered. slimey. thriving. in your moss. squelched up. wriggling. an excerpt from one of the dev's tweets!: "Become the squidgy lil' caterpillar you've always wanted to be, on a quest to stop your own metamorphosis. Crawl & wriggle all over anything in your path and explore the canopy."
a webbing journey - website - a cute 3D game where you play as a spider! you'll explore the world, making webs and slinging around on them. you'll also meet some friendly faces to talk to and do quests for them! an excerpt from the site: " You control a little spider equipped with all the typical spider abilities and a little bit more as you travel through various stunning islands searching for the most exotic flowers for your spider date. Along your journey you meet other spiders and animals who provide additional side stories and quests which challenge your spider abilities."
invertipets - dev's site / toyhou.se - a petsite game being made by @shadybugdev where you take care of bugs and bug-like pets! there's not much on it publicly available yet other than some pet concepts (which can be viewed through the toyhouse link!) but it's something to look out for!
honorable mentions
an isopod game(?) being made by riley neville (part of sbuggames/made webbed) - this "game" has not actually been announced to be a game that will be published but it looks neat!
a worm game(?) being made by riley neville - same thing as the previous one!
all the games in my bug game collection on itch.io!

One of the things that I love the most about the Classic Mega Man series is its artstyle. It's very anime-esque with a slight twinge of toon, and there's a surprising amount of detail that goes into each art piece drawn by Mega Man illustrator Keiji Inafune (Such as how robot masters and characters like Mega Man and Roll have different pupil types and the infamous 'Capcom hand').
Naturally, ever since 2015, I've been trying my hand in seeing how accurately I can replicate the Mega Man artstyle, and considering I mentioned planning to make a full Famicom styled box art piece for Mega Man Ultimate, I decided it was about time to dive back in to researching Mega Man's artstyle to make said art piece as 1:1 to official artwork as I can!
And where better to start with the centerpiece, Mega Man himself? Back in December of 2020, I drew a Classic styled Mega Man in honor of his 33rd anniversary, and while it was decent enough in its own right given my skillset at the time, this time I wanted to go all out in drawing a full-body Mega Man while keeping a lot of Inafune's art choices in check...
Tumblr media
... which resulted in the best Mega Man I've ever drawn!
Looking at a character like Mega Man, you'd think he wouldn't be too difficult to draw, and design wise, he's not. The simplicity of his armor and few colors actually make him— in theory— pretty easy to draw.
But when you're attempting to match the actiony grandeur that is the key artwork for more recent Mega Man games on top of keeping an eye on proportions, shading styles, and shaping everything just right... then it becomes a tad hard.
So, when I sat down to draw Mega Man, I made the decision to start with arguably the most important part... the head.
Tumblr media
To me, if you're going after a stylistically accurate Mega Man, his head is detrimental in getting just right. This is easier said than done, because his helmet isn't just a circle; it's more ovular and widens toward the top, leaving the base of the helmet to be a bit slimmer.
Above, you can see two preliminary sketches I whipped up in preparation for the digital outline phase. While they look fairly similar, each one has a focus: the leftmost sketch was primarily focused on getting the head to look nice (Which took about forty-five minutes by itself!), as well as drawing a good buster.
The righthand sketch was more focused on Mega Man's pose, explaining the placeholder head and buster. I was originally going to jump right into taking the left sketch and digitalizing it, but when I felt like the hand and legs could be drawn better, I made an additional sketch to merge with the first.
Tumblr media
Woah! Here's something new: just like how I've begun showing the spriting process for some of my sprite works, here's the process I went about when digitalizing my Mega Man sketch after I had finished reshaping everything in my drawing software: from outline to flat color to the end result!
Interestingly, when I first got done drawing Mega Man, I thought it looked great... but I wasn't a fan of how he looked proportionally, as I thought his arms and legs looked a little short. When I had been searching for reference images to base my sketches on, I noticed that Mega Man's legs especially are a bit lengthy, so I redrew 45% of my then-final result with these changes in mind, which resulted in the version shown in this post.
I'm really impressed with myself on how great I got this piece of Mega Man to look, since shading and posing aren't my forte— it feels nice to have one of the tougher aspects of MMU's eventual box art drawn, and I hope you've enjoyed both the art and reading the process behind it!

This Week in BL
April 2021 Part 4
it’s my birthday week! *raises a glass of pink milk*
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Thai
Second Chance Ep 4 - oh noes my babies are all so sad! Teen angst for the win. Tropes included: crying in shower, a very significant hand hold, & striped shirts. (At this point over half the cast has been in stripes.)
Love Machine Ep 1 - not gonna lie, I barely made it through the first half, this is a short run LOW budget experimental web series and it’s not good. Dropped.
Lovely Writer Ep 9 - I like it when LW gets serious because there are fewer dumb sound effects, but oof Aey, poor baby. How many Aeys have I known over the years? Rejected, broken, angry, lonely, and lashing out. On a different note, I haven’t see the “sex drug made us do it” plot device since 1980s Johanna Lindsey. Props to that cocktail rearing its ugly head. (yeh yeh) ZOMBIE TROPE ALERT. (Is this the point where I remind the world at a-play doesn’t have to hurt? Well, it doesn’t! Toys, prep, and lube people. Sheesh.) Anygay, zombie trope is put safely back underground. Please don’t let it rise again? (I KNOW, I’ll stop now.) So this was a rough episode, especially the back end. (Okay now I’ll REALLY stop.)  Seriously tho, BL doesn’t do a massive coming out family drama scene often. I liked LW’s handling of this one. Hard to watch but compelling.
Close Friend Ep 1 (OhmFluke) - very cute snapshot into a LTR featuring an overworked music producer and his student BF. That’s the chassis for this whole series, each one has to do with the song & is a portrayal of that song’s message. Essentially, the theme of this one was remembering to make time for your partner. I enjoyed that. OhmFluke gave us easy casual familiar affection and a kiss, but no BL tropes, just romance.
Tumblr media
Fish Upon The Sky Ep 3 - Pi is a total spazz & the ghost story bit was... well, it was something wasn’t it? Lots of tropes: fixing his clothes, wound tending, drag baby around, piggyback, head in lap, hand hold, and ending on a drunk kiss. I just noticed Pi uses guu/mueng with Mork, but Mork’s a year older. (So I have a new entry onto the linguistic brats list.)  So rude and presumptuous. Also I gotta say this, don’t wear watches when you’re working on a cadaver, mmky boys?
Y-Destiny Ep 4 - look MaxNat have great chemistry, this ep had loads of great tropes (e.g. cheek kiss, rooftop, public claiming via phone), it’s not their fault I’m just not wild about these characters. I do like Nuea’s wanna-be idol wardrobe though. And Sun is sporting the red bag version of Tharn’s black bag that I wanted so bad in TT2. (I wonder if I can score a knock off when I’m over there?) Regardless, I basically grinned all the way through this installment, so that’s another thumbs up from me for Y-Destiny. Who knew I’d come around? Man would I love to see these two get their own series.
Brothers Ep 12 - teacher/student exposed! But the power of boys on phones will overcome all. No KhunKaow for me, so of course I found this ep tragically disappointing.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
HIStory 4: Close To You (Taiwan) Ep 6 - MuRen is officially a yaoi manga character in the flesh. H4′s outright mockery/subversion of tropes “don’t touch him he’s mine,” + “touch my lip & think of kissing” makes the fact that other (way more damaging) tropes are being blithely utilized without critique almost - dare i say it? - insulting. YongJie is trash but I’m the one who feels like trash because I want to forgive him. How aptly abusive & dysfunctional we all are. I don’t know whether to applaud H4 or start drinking. (Maybe this is the show I should invent a cocktail for? Who am I kidding? This is totally a jello shots show.)
Friend or Lover (Taiwan) Ep 2 - I thought this was only a microfilm but turns out it’s a web series. It’s cute. I’m enjoying it.
My Lascivious Boss (Vietnam) Ep 3 - subs take a while to drop but it’s still better than average. I like a secret identity trope, I love a grumpy/sunshine pairing, and the side couple is great but this ep was slow. With only 6 total (I assume) they better get the main couple together next ep or the improved quality of this series will be sacrificed on the alter of pacing issues.
Word of Honor (China) Ep 28-30 - slowed down to focus on bad guys (yawn...ooo Scorpion...yawn again). Then baby gets kidnapped, other baby goes crazy, and old friends turn up. We end on DOOM because mathematically this was an episode 11. All boxes checked.
Nobleman Ryu’s Wedding (Korea) Ep 3-4 - how is this show SO DAMN CUTE & weirdly wholesome at the same time? Another one of those: Will Korea resolve this satisfactorily in 4 short eps? But I seem to say that half way through every Korean BL. These days, I have complete faith. Warm fuzzies for everyone.
Tumblr media
Stand Alones
Color Rush movie is the same as the series. There is a stinger at the VERY end (untranslated) but which I’m assuming has something to do with the missing mother. Is this a possible indication of a 2nd season? Hopefully someone will eng sub the stinger and post it out into the universe. So yeah, Color Rush movie = To My Star style, sadly, not Wish You. That said, I did enjoy watching with different subs. The first version I watched was fan subbed, and they were better on English colloquialisms. Viki’s subs are better on Korean colloquialisms.
Tumblr media
Breaking News
Bunch of new press on Thailand’s I Told the Sunset About You 2 AKA I Promised You the Moon. Here’s a master post on the subject with all the links you could ever want. It will start airing May 27th 8 pm (Thai time) on LINETV.
New Thai Bl Golden Blood got a teaser trailer. Stars familiar side dish Gun Napat (Techno from LBC) as a rich kid who needs a bodyguard. Yeah, it looks to be the Thai version of Where Your Eyes Linger which is FINE. I love me a bodyguard romance. DO EETTT Thailand. Trailer contains ALL the tropes: dry his hair, piggyback, cooking together, and more, plus good smooches. It looks GREAT. Also cheeper to make then KinPorsche and it might get funded due to of residual enthusiasm. Also GOOD TITLE.
Close Friend got another teaser trailer this one for Talay & Yoon (no subs).
Taiwan has a new BL coming out... eventually. Looks to be a new franchise like the HIStory series with different couple(s) each season. It’s the first Taiwanese BL from a major in-country network. The first installment is titled Be Loved in House: I Do (seriously Taiwan, could we talk about your titles?). It stars a familiar face, Aaron Lai from HIStory: My Hero. It’s a grumpy/tsundere boss/employee office-set BL with some forced proximity to push them together. (Nods to Japan.) No release date, but (unlike Thailand) Taiwan usually doesn’t make announcements without content & serious intent.
Tumblr media
Gossip
Taiwanese BL NOVEL Miracle dropped a trailer, no subs or translation. According to YouTube comments it was supposed to be part of HIStory3 but MODC took on its slot. Still it’s kinda fun to see what might have been.
Next Week Looks Like This:
Tumblr media
Some shows may be listed later than actual air date for International accessibility reasons.
Upcoming 2021 BL master post here.
Links to watch are provided when possible, ask in a comment if I missed something.
