Yukine's journey toward acceptance of the life that was robbed of him, this time with finality, exemplifies the emotional and beautifully rendered arc that has defined his character.

Yukine finally accepting the reality of his death. Yukine stepping out from the fridge that contained memories of what was once his life. Yukine freeing himself from the shackles of his trauma. Yukine running to protect the person who cherished him the most in the world. Yukine standing up to an abusive father. Yukine wholeheartedly apologizing. Yukine's growth, and Yato tearing up as he stretches his little arms to pull him for an embrace.

Yukine's gratitude for what Yato did for him is evident throughout the series. He was given a name more precious than any other. He was treated like a human--an ordinary teenage boy. And life after that was one exciting journey after another. Now, Yukine can no longer be entirely consumed by the horrors of his past because he knows that his reality with Yato is so much brighter. Far brighter.

Yukine could break out from that refrigerator because of the true, sincere, and nurturing love shown by the only father figure in his life. Yato has said multiple times throughout the series that Yukine was his priority above all else, and Yukine was the only person he swore to protect the most. Hell, he even went straight to hug him after Yukine apologized for turning into that form! Yato did not need to summon Yukine. Yukine came to protect Yato on his own decision. As he always did.

The journey to their healing will be painful, and this chapter shows that Yato and Yukine will face it together. No more secrets and no more miscommunications. They will help and be by each other's side as they always have, not only as god and shinki but, this time, as family.

also though this dentist is genuinely the best dentist we've ever had.

she was really understanding about us having issues with toothpaste and we asked if she had any recommendations for alternatives we could try to see if those help and she gave us some options to look into so that's cool.

she also took our medical trauma into account and kept checking if we were okay throughout the appointment and asking if we needed to take breaks and we've never had a dentist do that before.

she warned us about what each tool would feel like too and actually warned us if something was going to be painful which like, I would in fact rather be warned that "this is going to be uncomfortable in this way" and "yeah this is gonna feel really bad for a few days but that's normal" than have someone try to reassure us that it won't be that bad only for it to get really painful.

our next appointment is to have a tooth removed and she explained the procedure to us and how that normally goes, and then we asked if we can take the tooth home afterwards and I can only assume from the look on her face that she's never been asked that before, but she was like "yeah I don't see why not, it is yours after all" so that's cool

#personal #thoughts #🍬 post #happy posting #I am really glad she warned us that our mouth would be sore because holy shit she was not kidding #but also we've never had a filling that blends in so well with the rest of the tooth. you can't tell there's a filling there when you look #she put so much work into it and got us to check it before we left to make sure the texture was okay #it took twice as long as the appointments we've had for fillings in the past #we're so used to having dentists just kind of rush to get everything done and being really shitty about our anxiety #which like admittedly I am probably still gonna have issues with medical trauma stuff later because that's just how that is #but holy shit it's such a relief to have a dentist who very clearly wants to make you as comfortable as possible #and is obviously taking your trauma and health problems into account the entire time #we're also used to going to one appointment and the medical professional being great #but then being shitty in the next appointment once they realise we have complicated problems and trauma and stuff #but no she was just as nice and accommodating as last time which is gonna help a lot with feeling less anxious next time I think

pros of learning how to play fighting game:

undergoing a learning experience, trying out something entirely different from anything i have previously played

i get to look at a little guy do cool things on my screen :)

cons of learning how to play fighting game:

i am clumsy as all hell with the inputs

the order in which you press and/or hold buttons to create inputs is less like trying to get a sequence of movements right and more like playing a rhythm game (down then while not letting go of down press forward then let go of down and THEN press an attack button on the other side of the keyboard). i suck at rhythm games. hell world

sometimes, the damn things just... won't register? at all? you do a half circle to forward input and the game says "half circle forward? oh, sorry, that's ensenga :)" or, worse, "too slow, that's a regular heavy slash move :)". brother. why must you do me like this.

the area between the knuckles of my ring and little finger hurts like a motherfucker (though this has hurt in various areas since at least this morning, but i'm willing to bet that practicing quarter and half circle inputs for at least an hour did not make the situation any better)

#swear to god learning to play guilty gear is the ultimate test of will #but i am very determined not to drop it despite all of my frustration #it's not like i haven't dropped games in the past - i find it incredibly difficult to play ultrakill because despite the fact that i grew up #on shooters (from rtcw onward) i suck ass at ultrakill (though it's not like i was much good at any shooter that required quick reaction #time at first - it took me a good long while to get good at overwatch) and whenever i boot it up my mind immediately starts telling me that #all i can do in ultrakill‚ The Game That Revolves Around Being Fast And Stylish And Fun‚ is suck at it #which - you guessed it - means i rarely get the will to play it because i know i'll just end up neither having fun or getting better #and it's become very difficult for me to derive joy from trying to complete any videogame but that's a whole different story #and there's no way in hell i'm starting five because once i start five i'll finish playing five and holy shit i really need to start #visiting my therapist again don't i #too bad! :)#at any rate i'm not giving up on guilty gear anytime soon! it's frustrating but i know i'll start having loads of fun once i've mastered the #basics #also don't ask why i'm playing on a keyboard. controller's worse. this is entirely unfamiliar and weird and i don't have the muscle memory #for it but i will someday!! i will!!!#logs #Black Blank blah-blah-blah #< will be using this tag for any post in which i end up complaining about my life‚ feel free to blacklist it anytime
