Stimpy...?
Ren and Stimpy are traveling along the road on a visit to Ren's parents when they have an accident nearby and Stimpy is the one who suffers the consequences. Ren's parents approach them, shocked by what happened while one of them (the mother) calls an ambulance.

ren always felt greatful for his partner, even if it was rare he said so. stimpy was so patient with him, always sticking with ren through all his highs and lows. it was due to that, that ren knew he was loved, regardless of if he deserved it or not.
there'd be rougher nights, ones that took their toll on him, but none had been quite like this one.
shaking on the cold tiles of the duo's shared restroom floor, ren curled up on himself. he wasn't sure what the time was, or how he'd even ended up where he was, but he knew that he needed a breather. the chihuahua was no stranger to overly-vivid nightmares and poor coping mechanisms. he held himself, clenching his teeth to stop them from chittering.
he hadn't even heard stimpy come in.
"Ren.? What're you-" the manx cat mumbled, rubbing the sleep from his eyes before noticing the asthma hound's condition. stimpy quickly kneeled next to his partner, as he waited patiently for any sign of acknowledgment. he knew to take these sorts of situations slow.
after a few seconds in silence, ren tilted his head, his eyes, puffy from crying, meeting the cat's.
"Are you okay if I-?" stimpy asked, gesturing his hands twoards ren's tense shoulders, the latter briefly nodding in response.
stimpy fully sat down after that, leaning against the wall as he helped position ren to sit in front of him. he'd slowly begin working at ren's shoulders, breaking down all of the tension collected from whatever had troubled him.
the two sat in silence for awhile, the manx cat mumbling small phrases of kindness to his partner, as he gently soothed his worries.

Info/HC's about my h!teenage Ren and Stephen(Stimpy) AU:
Ren is mixed with mexican and german descent. Although his family is mainly a spanish speaking household. (Last name has been passed down generations) While Stephen is just white..🫠
Stephen first noticed Ren behind the school trying to light a cigarette, and hasn't left him alone ever since
Ren is a junior (16/17) while Stephen is a sophomore (15)
Unknown to everyone (since he hasn't told anyone) Ren transferred into this highschool a few months ago. For almost all his life he has been attending behavior modification facilities and/or been attending programs to fix him. He was one of the more popular people over there since he was huge trouble. (I don't want this to sound like he was a "cool badboy😈😝" he had/has serious issues.)
Everyone views Ren as odd. Like that one person you see in highschool sitting at the most random secluded spot ever. Being like "wth"
Stephen's family is high middle-class, while Ren's family is not extremely poor but struggles financially.
Ren's neighbor used to have a pet chihuahua, one day it escaped from their house and was running around. Ren wanting to do good chased it and picked it up, on his way to return it to his owner. It didn't end well since that chihuahua ended up biting a small chunk of Ren's ear off.
My AU takes place in 2002, but at the same time might be sometimes modernized.
Stephen has a chubby cat named Stimpy! (hehe)
Despite skipping school a lot and barely paying attention to teachers. Ren is smart. Like you'd be surprised knowing he is intelligent. While Stephen has a harder time understanding school work than the average student. He has a short attention span when it comes to school.
Ren takes anger management classes and is known there for having a really bad meltdown one time when speaking about his feelings.
Stephen has a pretty good home life, although his father is a bit absent.
Ren's father name is Pedro Christoph Höek. His mother name is Valentina Angel Pérez.
The school counselor calls Ren into her office regularly just to check up on him. She's the very rare person that Ren doesn't seem to mind.
Stephen had 2 past non serious relationships in middle school. Usually lasted for about 1 month or less. Ren used to date a girl he met at one of his troubled teens programs. It lasted for 6 months and he was the one to break up with her because she was too clingy.
Well guys this is all I can write for now, I hope you guys find this interesting to read!
Sorry if there's any spelling errors! (*゚Д゚)

Ren and Stimpy anon.
Chai, I feel like sometimes we just get a bad vibe from a show. Why? Idk, it's like the poison from a person working on it just leaks into it.
I remember my friends being obsessed with Drake and Josh and other Dan Schneider shows. Something just felt off to me. Idk why, it was mostly nickelodeon stuff.
I couldn't finish watching Icarly, something in my gut didn't feel right. I tried watching Victorious and same thing. Then bam, all that crap came out. I'm very glad a lot of the victims are speaking out. I read Jennette Mccurdy's memoir and boy. She mentioned a lot of things, but I feel like she omitted things she didn't want us to know.
Then there was that stuff with Amanda Bynes. I still feel horrible about her and I hate how people don't have as much empathy for her and flat out hate her.
I know what you mean. To me, Ren and Stimpy's the piece of media where you can most clearly feel the creator's poison coming through. There are episodes I still can't watch to this day.
God, poor Amanda Bynes. She was so talented and deserved so much better. Hollywood's a fucking cesspool, especially for kids who make it big.

Thank you so much for following me. What's your favorite and least favorite Ren and Stimpy episodes?
No problem! I really like your art and stories :)
My favorite Ren and Stimpy episodes... Gosh, there's so many, this question is hard to answer!
If I had to pick one, it would be My Shiny Friend.
Tumblr media
Such a gloomy, nightmarish, yet very fun episode (great, fitting color palette BTW)!
I like the two sided nature of this episode. Neither Ren or Stimpy is really in the right. While Stimpy's addiction to the television is concerning, it's not like Ren has the moral high ground either... he restricts when he goes to the fucking bathroom like an abusive boss, and he locked poor Stimpy in the basement for a year with no contact with other lifeforms! Do you know what that kind of solitary isolation DOES to a person?! It breaks them... I think it's worse than the time he tried to murder Stimpy in Stimpy's Fan Club, because that would at least be quick and painless, and he wouldn't have to live with trauma.
Tumblr media
Look at Ren, weeping at and comforting Stimpy, as though he's so concerned for him. He actually thinks he's HELPING by locking him away in the pits of the basement to waste away and suffer. It's so beautifully tragic.
Tumblr media
"Love You Stimpy" Yeah, given what Ren DOES to Stimpy in this episode, that could not be further from the truth. Or maybe he does love him in a fucked up, unhealthy way. Either way, Stimpy is still someone to be pitied. (Also I love the background music in this scene)!
Tumblr media
The suffering begins. Note the decrepit 5'o clock shadow on Stimpy. He has been rotting in this dirty ass basement for quite some time already.
Tumblr media
This nightmare scene always gives me the chills to think about. Not just because a distorted, heavily slowed down version of the Muddy Mudskipper song is playing in the background (love the atmosphere in this episode, did I mention that?), and the fact that we literally see Stimpy getting BLOODY eaten by Muddy, but also because of what it implies.
Stimpy has no real peers outside of Ren, who physically and verbally abuses him 24/7. Really, the only people who he can seek comfort from are idols like Muddy Mudskipper. So imagine being in a vulnerable position after being severely abused. You need someone to lean on so you can feel safe... That someone, for Stimpy, is Muddy. Stimpy states in this very episode he "loves" Muddy. Imagine that person you love, the only person you can count on to find comfort in when times are tough, the one single solace in your life, suddenly turns their back on you and beats the shit out of you and insults you. After you already had to deal with enough of that already. Not you too, Muddy! You can't be like that! You were... supposed to be... the only one... I loved... you... I thought you were different... I guess no one will love me. I have no one. Nothing...
Tumblr media
I love the way Stimpy gets into fetal position. He's so fragile and helpless. But look at that mattress- there's clearly red blood stains on it.
This implies that Ren has been BEATING Stimpy until he bleeds during his time in the basement. I love the subtle little way they implied that. These hidden easter eggs make these episodes so rewatchable, it's like I'm uncovering a new story!
Tumblr media
Love the dystopian, sad colors here. It looks so oppressive and I'm here for it! Stimpy looks like a helpless little kitten who has no idea where he is... I wanna hold his hand
Tumblr media
The way Stimpy breaks when he realizes his fate. Soft, silent weeping. No hope. No soul left. No joy. Just cynicism and sadness overtake him. Poor fucking guy.
I love this episode for the two-sided conflict, the gut-wrenching atmosphere, the ways it makes you feel for Stimpy, and all the dark little implications about the characters in their situation. Everything I like to see in a Ren and Stimpy episode bundled up into one package.
Episodes like Ren Needs Help, Stimpy's Fanclub, Double Header, It's a Dog's Life, and Life Sucks are also enjoyable to rewatch for similar reasons. Stimpy's Invention is also one of my favorites but it's been talked about to death so I won't talk about it here.
Now, as for my least favorite episodes: It's rare I have any episodes in this show I actually dislike, so I will just list them off:
Untamed World: So boring and slow. The joke is "look, all the animals on the island look like ren and stimpy!" Repeat for the entire episode.
Hard Times For Haggis: Character nobody cares about gets the spotlight and all the pity while Ren and Stimpy who are supposed to be the main characters get sidelined. Lame. They spend most of the bloody episode bound and gagged, they have no fucking agency! Who the hell even likes Haggis, he's just a guy who is also a Scottish stereotype, and he's ugly lol...
Sven Hoek: An absolute fan favorite... Why? I'll copy paste what I had to say about Sven Hoek (both the character AND episode) from a deviantART comment I made a while back because he doesn't deserve the extra effort.
"his voice is annoying, he's ugly, he and stimpy have no chemistry whatsoever and don't play off each other at all (anything sven likes, stimpy likes too, it's like watching a two-headed idiot talk to himself. i like stimpy and ren's dynamic more because it provides more contrast).
there is nothing to like about him. as dumb as stimpy is, at least there are other things to like about him, like his kindness, compassion, willingness to help others and talent as an inventor. he's not completely worthless as a person.
what the fuck does sven provide? the only thing he does is be stupid and derp around with stimpy for 22 minutes. he is a waste of space with not a single worthwhile thought or action to bring to the table. i wish ren really did rip his lips out and tear his arms out of the sockets and gouge his eyes out! xd"
This episode basically had no plot. Sven and Stimpy fuck around, that's it. The only entertaining part of this episode is the ending. I liked seeing Ren threaten and verbally assasinate Sven and Stimpy. The characters all going to hell after Ren whizzed on the electric fence was funny too.
Ren's Brain: This is a rare time where I am sympathetic to Ren. This entire episode is about Stimpy intellectually crippling Ren and taking advantage of that for his selfish benefit. I admire Stimpy's intellect in regards to his neuroscience and outsmarting Ren, but the way he treats him like a puppet is not fun to watch. It's cruel. Cruelty is not in Stimpy's character. Why did he do something like that?
Thanks for giving me an opportunity to dump my thoughts out onto the internet like that! I really enjoyed it and I hope to see more asks like this in the future!

In the classic episode Nurse Stimpy, what do you think Nurse Ren does to Stimpy? Please give me details
you know Ren is just itching to act up under the guise of healer 😱
he'd most definitely employ some archaic and/or unnecessary medicinal modalities per his poor common sense and lack of nurturing capabilities; bloodletting by leeches, onions in Stimpy's socks and garlic in his nostrils, a tincture of the old Höek homemade family cure-all (imagining something awful with chilis and pork fat and lemon), an unfortunate icy-hot incident involving Ren massaging the stuff into parts where icy-hot does not belong leaving poor Stimpy in agony, feeding him copious amounts of junk errrm 'comfort' food, reading Stimpy the directions on an enema box with dramatic effect in place of proper bedtime stories, wrapping him up in way too many blankets and popping him in the drier to 'burn out the chills' and then sticking several bags of frozen pearl onions and veggie medley in his PJs to 'freeze out the fever' etc etc
Stimpy of course recovers with the morale boost of Ren never having left his side, nor ceased his asinine pursuit of rehabilitating Stimpy. Stimpy knows he's cared for (and essentially won't die) under Ren's watch and that's good enough for him to pull through to full recovery.
Stimpy also coaxes Ren to keep the nurse outfit 👀👀👀

In a few hours I'll be saying goodbye to my dog, Jig (short for Jig the White Devil Hellhound). In December he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, and it's now gotten to the point where the kindest thing to do is let him go. He and his brother Pippin (short for Pippin Moon Moon Hellhound) are about 13 years old, and they actually haven't been apart for more than a few hours at a time since they were born, so needless to say I'm super worried about how Pippin's gonna handle this.
Their mama Darla belonged to the lady who ran the stable where I was boarding Sharif at the time, and I had the privilege of being there when they were born. My mom (a former paramedic) and my aunt Beth (a labor & delivery nurse) were also there, and it's a good thing too, because poor Pippin's head was too big for the birth canal, and he got stuck partway out. Luckily, my mom and aunt were able to save him, his mama, and the two puppies who were behind him (including Jig, who has never forgiven his big brother for holding up progress).
I like to think I've given them both a good life. They're both stinky bastard men (Jig more-so than Pippin), but they're my stinky bastard men, and I love them both dearly. I'm going to miss Jig and the way he'll get up in my lap, squirming with delight, wagging his tail and trying to lick the inside of my nose, all the while snarling like a demon (hence the White Devil part of his name). After a few minutes of snuggles he'll then go and bite Pippin (albeit never very hard), who puts up with his brother's abuse with good grace. In fact, whenever Jig's emotions get the better of him, or when he's in a situation he doesn't like, his go-to move is to bite Pippin. It's kind of a Ren & Stimpy situation, for those of y'all who're old enough to remember that show.
Yet despite his tendency to blame his brother for everything, it's clear they both love each other, because they spend much more time snuggling together than fighting (not that Pippin ever really fights back, lol), and I know Pippin's really going to miss him.
Goodbye, Jig. You were kind of an asshole, but you're still my good boy, and I love you dearly and am going to miss you and your silly antics so much. Say hello to aunt Beth for me.

Do you have any headcanons if Ren and Stimpy's relationshp, likes, dislikes, etc? Also I adore your art!!!
Asdfkdbsl thank youuuu ❤️
I like almost everything about Rempy, really, really, they're my life 😭❤️❤️❤️ but my favorite thing about them is probably the fact that they're like a typical 50s couple. I just asdfls love those romantic clichés, sorry asdkslsjfñsj ❤️✨
Dislikes? Uh... I don't like the age difference between Ren and Stimpy. I mean- yeah, I like that Ren is older than Stimpy, but NOT as much as the cartoon shows in some episodes AH
Headcanons ✨
• Ren's ears are VERY sensitive. Stimpy knows it, and he enjoys rubbing and kissing them
• Ren was the first to fall in love, but he spent a long time denying his feelings. Anyway, he was the first to confess his feelings to Stimpy
• Stimpy has tried to teach Ren things like drawing or knitting, but Ren quickly becomes frustrated, even though he genuinely wants to learn
• Ren has a lot of insecurities, but Stimpy makes him feel loved and safe. That poor chihuahua couldn't live without Stimpy~
• They enjoy doing chores together, but Ren is rather inefficient, it probably takes Stimpy longer to clean the house when Ren helps him
• Ren's life improved after he started his relationship with Stimpy
• Ren loves holding Stimpy's hands
• Both of them adore physical contact. They love cuddling and kissing! but Ren prefers not to show affection in public
• I absolutely love the idea that Stimpy may identify as trans. Whether it's MTF, FTM, NB, or any other gender identity, it's a wonderful concept. While I don't usually draw Stimpy with this idea, I truly believe that Ren would wholeheartedly love and support Stimpy no matter how they identify ❤️❤️
• About little Ricky~ Ren would naturally be a somewhat absent father but he would try very hard to change that. Stimpy would be a little bit overprotective of their son. Ricky? Ricky is physically identical to Ren, but has the sweet personality of Stimpy
NSFW(?
• They had sex many times before confessing their feelings (and in Ren's case, before accepting that he was in love with Stimpy)
• Ren taught Stimpy a few spicy things
I KNOWW my headcanons are very simple, but I really adore them aaaaah 😭❤️❤️

Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog - The Pilot! (Screenshots & Review)
Tumblr media
They waste no time showing off how sadistic Sonic can be at times. Poor Robotnik! I was actually going to be wrapping up this review series today with "Sonically Ever After", but I recently got a request to review the Aosth pilot, so I'm giving it a go, first!
There isn't much of a cohesive story to this pilot, as it seems like it thrown together more to give a feel of the shows tone, character personalities, and segments such as “Sonic says”. Also, before I start, I should mention that there are several different uploads of the pilot on Youtube (as well a download on the internet archive), and I decided to go with the one that had the longest length. Part of that extra length turned out to be clips from an episode included in the main series, so I'll be leaving that segment out. And, I do apologize for the incredibly fuzzy screenshots, but sadly I could not find any high-quality recordings of this pilot. I really hope they still exist somewhere!
The first scene starts out with Sonic introducing himself (And Robotnik) in front of a funky looking black and white background.
We then jump to a zoom in of planet Mobius, with a narrator, no less! That's definitely different from the final show. The narrator Gary Owens is fun and over-the-top like something from an old radio drama, and he also guest-starred as the voice of Powdered Toast Man in a Ren & Stimpy cartoon. No wonder he sounded familiar!
We see Sonic vandalizing a wanted poster that Robotnik put up of him, and hot damn, I need to praise how smooth this animation is! As cute and fun as Aosth is, it does feel unfortunate that this level of fluidity couldn't have been present throughout the entire main series.Though, on the other hand, there are a couple of moments in the pilot where Robotnik feels “overly” animated to the point of being visually confusing. Think something like the weird animations in CDI Zelda, but sped up really fast.
Tumblr media
Blue arms?! Yup, despite some really nice and art and animation peppered throughout, there was a coloring error even in the pilot. Whoops!
Tumblr media
We then see Robotnik telling his badniks about Sonic, in a scene that should look very familiar to anyone who's played Dr. Robotnik's mean bean machine. He's also voiced by Jim Cummings at times, which is odd to hear when I'm so used to hearing him be played by Long John Baldry (which is an awesome name by the way, wish he was still around... ). Sonic enters the room to taunt Robotnik, and all the robots chase him out of the tent in Emerald Hill Zone - which looks really nice! Again, it's a damn shame they couldn't have had this level of quality in the whole series' backgrounds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love that pretty and highly accurate Emerald Hill Zone background!
Tumblr media
We get to occasionally see Scratch and Grounder in the pilot, but they don’t have any speaking scenes.
At this point, the "story" just kinda ends and the rest of the pilot is just a bunch of unconnected scenes - but they're still a treat to watch. We get to see Robotnik launch a cactus out of a cannon at Sonic. This part of the pilot was reused in the episode “ Untouchable Sonic “ (review here) , which is cool because at-least some of it was preserved in a higher quality this way.
The next scene clip has Sonic rallying freedom fighters and vandalizing a Robotnik billboard (another clip that got included in "Untouchable Sonic”). We then also see the scene that ended up being used for the show's credit sequence, where Robotnik gets squished by his own trap while trying to kill Sonic. The mystery of how he recovers form this at the end of every credits sequence is revealed - Scratch and Grounder come to re-inflate him like an old timey cartoon.
Next, there's a scene where some ...frog?...guy asks Sonic for help with a pond that Robotnik seems to be polluting or sealing the water from. Sonic traps Robotnik in his pipe then goes to relax at the beach with Tails. This is yet another scene that fascinates me because there's an old Archie Sonic comic where a fan submitted pretty much the exact same drawing on Sonic on the beach...but this was an unaired pilot. Maybe the kid who sent the art had a parent who worked on this show's pilot? I’d link the art but I can’t find it online. Maybe later I can do some scans from the original comic...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wanting revenge for the pond incident, Robotnik attacks again using his little drilling vehicle from mystic cave zone in Sonic 2. He causes Sonic to fall into a hole in the beach, and we hear Tails' voice for the first time, too. It's definitely a different voice actor, whom is apparently rumored to have been a gal named  Russi Taylor, but no voice actor was officially credited. The voice for Tails wasn't bad, but I'm so used to kid who voiced him int he mains series that it sounds quite odd to hear, much like with Jim Cummings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sonic and Tails take out Robotnik’s drill vehicle, and there's a bunch more chaotic slapstick scenes between him and Sonic shown. We also see a clip of Sonic talking to a character called "King Leo" and eventually a glimpse of Sonic running through Hill Top Zone, too!
Tumblr media
I like this goofy screenshot I managed to capture of Tails. Looks like he’s having a sugar rush. :D
Tumblr media
I enjoy how Robotnik looks comically small in this shot, and the look on his face is fun, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sonic and Tails have the best little impish grins here. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hill Top Zone!
Lastly, we get to see the very first "Sonic Says!". Sonic saves Tails from being hit by a car, and feeling embarrassed, Tails acknowledges that he knows he was careless to just run out into the road. Like many characters in the pilot, Tails' animation is much more "wild" and exaggerated, but nod distractingly so like Robontik was at times. The scene is quite cute and gives a chance to hear much more of Russi's (?) Tails voice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I don’t want any of my pals gettin’ turned into road pizza!”
And, well, that's the pilot! Not much of a story of course, but what makes it such a  treat is seeing all the early ideas for elements in the final show, as well as all that great animation and art. I'm really glad this was preserved online by several folks, though I do still hope one day there will be a version with better visual quality and possibly more sound too. Oh right, the sound - another thing I forgot to mention was that some edits on YouTube add music and sounds to make things feel less awkward and empty in the audio department, as it seems the original video was quite lacking in music, sound effects and surprisingly, a lot of voices, too! Til next time, stay cool, and don’t become street pizza!

WoaH they're alreadydown I think you can stop now...
--
But tbh I think its sad to see all these people cling to this toxic ideology despite more and more of the "dirty laundry" and facts about the harsh, cruel and ice cold reality of it coming to light.
Seen several posts of people whining about the cold hard facts that came to light and try to disprove them because it just doesn't fit with their agenda...
Really hoping this is the beginning of the end of this ideology of hatred shaming and mutilation in the name of "health care" and the children slowly getting the mental health treatments they need instead of getting butchered up and shoved hormones into them.
Also the end of this bs being shoved into every part of everything, be it fandom or anything else...
They're fine. They did a response post (awww....they found my Ren and Stimpy post) and also pm-ed me this:
Tumblr media
I'm surprised they haven't blocked me with this account yet but it's probably a matter of time. It was surprising to find out it was Marchy because they were one of the artists I didn't suspect of having a blankshipping sock. Truth be told, I thought it might be Esprei because they blocked me around the same time I responded to questioninqthings' pinned post. They were one of the tolerant popular artists who ignored me, but they come across low-key monster fkr and are friends with a bunch of those people. It might have been because I said some not-nice things about the Covid scam, and they recently did a stupid Covid mask wearing Submas before blocking me.
That's the thing....I say things about a lot of things. Even if a person says they are into blankshipping, there's still the stupid radical leftist criteria. Fandom basically becomes far leftist transtrender antis versus far leftist transtrender proshippers into stupid fetish bingo. There's no middle ground or dissenting opinions.
Since I talk about the Submas being thirsty for dog-ass too much, I'll go on a different sort of tangent. One of the newer arrivals on the blankshipping tag (who blocked me for not being into transtrender sheeit..) did a story where Ingo and Emmet were yote to Hisui, yet they were openly Jewish trans males. Fun fact: For most of history, people were afraid to openly tell people they were Jewish for fear of death, and transgenderism was such a huge no-no it wasn't even a thing. People have it extremely good now. Nobody has to live in constant fear with a constant sense of their own mortality. That's why I was joking that Ingo barely scrapped by in Hisui, but Emmet would have been burned as a witch because he was too weird. Even Emmet with his extremely poor social skills wouldn't be stupid enough to tell people he was a Jewish transexual during the Meiji Restoration Period.
The thing about having a constant sense of one's own mortality is that one would be really paranoid about making good decisions to stay healthy. They wouldn't go out of their way to be a fucking weirdo and engage in behaviors that have caused civilizational collapse. Since we live in a period of unprecedented fossil fuel glut, a lot of people have extremely cushy lifestyles that likely interfere with their ability to regulate dopamine. They are stuck having to seek out greater novelty to get that feeling of happiness. Because of that, they become constantly triggered narcissists who, instead of having their amygdalas triggered by actual problems that could kill or maim them, will project angst on people who disagree with their world views. How many times have you heard a trans person on Tumblr say something like, "THEY WANT ME DEAD!!1! THAT'S WHY I BULLY THEM!!"
Then they accuse dissenters of being 'NAZIs' and sheeit... Please...trans virtue signalers have nothing to fear in this cushy world. In fact, the leftist is the oppressor now, and they have been for decades. You are about a thousand times more likely to get your head stomped in by a whackadoodle antifa or BLM useful idiot than the almost nonexistent 'right wing extremist', and this is true to the point they cover for certain people in the media.
Thinking about what I've written in my latest fan fic, it makes me wonder...how many of these constantly triggered creampuffs been through it? How many times did they miss a meal or were in such constant pain they felt like they would throw up? How many wished they were dead from pain? (self-inflicted doesn't count. That's another symptom of poor dopamine regulation). How many had someone try to kill them or witnessed a family member die violently? How many have felt like they have no sense of privacy because they are always being watched? How many have seen the look of rage in a person's eyes who actually wants to kill them? I bring this up because such experiences will awaken that healthy sense of one's own mortality that would make it so small traumas -such as someone disagreeing with your leftwing death-cult bullshit- don't seem like that big a deal.

Movie Review | The Flash (Muschietti, 2023)
Tumblr media
This review contains spoilers for this movie and Wonder Woman 1984.
So, if I can point out the positives about this movie, it’s that the special effects, through their shortcomings, achieve a sense of accidental surrealism. I don’t just mean the scenes in the Speed Zone (or whatever, I’m not looking it up), where the effect is intentional, but even things that are supposed to be closer to a superpowered reality. There’s an early scene where the Flash has to save a bunch of babies and a dog and a nurse falling from a crumbling tower, and aside from some conceptual novelty, the monstrous computer-generated faces of the babies make you feel like you’re watching an episode of Ren & Stimpy. What should be cartoonish fun is instead rendered into a grotesque, Boschian hellscape. But the majority of the effects are astoundingly bad, with many of the CGI-rendered characters having that unsettling dead-eyed Polar Express look, , doubling effects (which were perfected decades before CGI) being botched, and many of the scenes of rubbery, weightless supposed spectacle looking about as good as a PS3 cutscene from a decade and a half ago. Never has so much money been spent on effects that look this poor. (One shot in particular brought back memories of watching my brother play RTSs when he hogged the computer growing up.)
And I’ll say that compared to the other actors in supporting roles, Sasha Calle as Supergirl gives the kind of performance that feels like it belongs in a well executed version of these things, in that she actually tries to evoke some kind of emotional reality for her character. (I don’t put much effort in anticipating these things, but it does seem a bit cruel that she’s probably been jettisoned from future entries.) In comparison, Michaels Keaton and Shannon seem to be in a competition to give the lowest energy line readings possible to still meet the contractual definition of a performance Keaton wins, as his eyebrow raising provides a level of charisma that can’t be quashed, while Shannon seems so affectless and so frequently depicted through special effects that I’m not convinced he ever actually stepped on set and didn’t just bark his lines over the phone one afternoon. And Gal Gadot in her cameo gives a line reading so bad that you wonder how she ever passed an audition or screen test.
So aside from that freaky ass baby scene and Sasha Calle, this is quite bad at being an effective superhero movie. At this point I must concede that I struggle to muster much enthusiasm for the majority of entries in the genre, and the fact that this is bad in ways that suggest autocritique makes it a more interesting than a lot of these things. In fact, like Wonder Woman 1984, its badness gave me a lot to chew over. That one, while pretty awful as spectacle, laid bare the implied contempt of the genre and maybe doubled as a commentary for our present political situation. That movie, which has a grifter promising people their wishes will come true only to complicate them with monkey’s paw twists, ended not with Wonder Woman actually doing anything useful to save the day, but with her browbeating everyone for wanting better lives for themselves and taking back their wishes. You see, you shouldn’t expect these things to actually be good (or for our leaders to do anything to improve our situation), and in fact you’re a bad person for wanting that, so fuck you, eat your scraps and be happy. (Perhaps I have some firsthand skin in the game, having been accosted years ago by some fucking weirdo acting like he wanted to start a fight after a screening of Guardians of the Galaxy when he overheard me complaining to my friends. I am a man of peace, but motherfucker was scrawny as a toothpick, I could probably have taken him.)
This one, where the plot is instigated by the hero traveling back in time to save his mother from being murdered and ends with him accepting her death but managing to at least clear his father of the crime, offers a somewhat more optimistic message. We can’t fundamentally change what’s wrong with the genre or the world, but can maybe make things a bit more bearable. That being said, this absolutely is not more bearable, given its total failure as spectacle. (And to be honest, I’m normally one who finds the thinkpiece-brained moralistic handwringing about blockbusters to be a bit obnoxious, between the Oedipal obsessiveness with which this movie ponders the mother’s death and the glee with which it repeatedly kills Supergirl, I found its treatment of women a bit unseemly.) The fact that much of the plot hinges on the Flash trying to go back in time to course correct future events plays like a commentary on its release, having been crapped out by Warner Brothers when it’s in the midst of course correcting its handling of the DCEU, and the flagrant disrespect it shows cultural history (exhuming George Reeves and Christopher Reeve to turn them into unsettling CGI puppets) matches the attitudes of a certain WB exec who’s been in the news more than anyone would like. And perhaps the ending lends a certain self-critical read to this element.
Like Wonder Woman 1984, this feels like the overarching corporate strategy being exposed, or more accurately, falling apart. There’s the awkward mix of irony-tinged Whedonian quipping and solemn Snyderian destruction, executed so as to lack any of the timing of the former or the weight of the latter. And in that sense, Ezra Miller’s twitchy performance feels like a glitch in the algorithm, refusing to work on either level the movie aims for. That they weren’t recast despite their offscreen criminal antics and that this movie was released, despite the abrupt change in corporate strategy and the aggressive PR management these things normally have, give this all a certain morbid interest. The near-empty theatre I watched this in gave this an ambience of archeological decay, like I was watching the detritus of a collapsed civilization.

which of the peter characters/peter parodies are most likeliest to fight? We know which ones would get along but I want to know which ones would hate each other with a burning passion.
Knife fight in front of a grocery store in broad daylight type of hatred ya kno?
Hmm good question. Starting with characters:
•I've thought and mentioned before about Abbott and Cairo meeting and not liking eachother and I see Abbott especially as a very good contender for someone who'd throw knives at his adversaries
•I can see Dr Lorentz hating Polo for being stupid, hating Petes beggar character from Du haut en baus for being poor and hating Louie for being stupid and poor, although he probably wouldn't physically assault any them of them unless they got too close to him or hung around too often in places he liked to go, being an eyesore for him(although polo would get revenge by stealing pocket kitten from him and Louie would pull a pretty woman by showing up to a fancy rich person party in nicer clothes than him)
•the general and gimpy are probably the most likely characters to throw knives at someone infront of a grocery store in Broad daylight and I can kind of see them both hating the other for creeping them out. That said, I think they'd each be funnier having an inexplicable hatred for a character who's likely to be minding their own business, not bothering them at all and only running in fear from them when they start throwing knives. Gimpys enemy can be Herman(who obviously isn't exactly innocent, but Gimpy doesn't know that) and THMs can be Editer Stix
As for caricatures. Its kinda hard to say since I see most fighting between the parodies as either just them being creepy and it being nothing personal or like, a predator/pray thing where some of the characters are genuinely just food in the eyes of others(Maggot would live in fear of any of them that eat bugs):
•I see Ren as being among the most likely to hold an actual grudge. Hed definitely throw knives in Broad daylight, although you might have to rile him up a bit first. I can see him hating any and all of the caricatures, but if he had to hate one in particular I'd go with Slappy. He has some traits in common with Stimpy and Rens cousin Sven that would really get under his skin and since he's already dead, Ren would frustratingly be unable to kill him
•J.P ghastly is another one who I can see feeling some real contempt. He'd hate anyone who was poor like Arthur and I can see him hiring yetch and constantly throwing knives at him for fun. Really I can see most of the parodies throwing knives at yetch, but for most of them it would just be out of amusement at the fact that he won't die. For JP it would be more personal
•Booberry is the opposite where most violence towards him is out of the other parodies despising him with a passion for being too kind. The only exception is Duckman Joel, who wants to eat him and he'd tear him up with his bare hands anyway
•Dr lorre-specifically the version of him from Birth of a notion, would hire Hugo as a lab assistant just to abuse him when he was in a bad mood, much like how he used to treat Leapold

There’s a world of stuff out there...
Tumblr media
Lego is possibly the best toy for a lifetime. As a child, it gives you access to an entire world of your imagination. As an adult, it can still do that but it can also be an artistic dream or in my case a fun hobby to collect. And over the years, I have collected a ton of Lego Minifigures. Some are completely custom. Others are rare. Some I just made myself by putting random parts together.
Tumblr media
But over the years, I’ve learned to appreciate the Non-Lego competitors. Some are great, but some are definitely worse. So here are 10 minifigures I’ve owned, with 5 I would gladly say rivals that of Lego. And 5 that proves there’s a reason Lego is the leader of the brand.
Tumblr media
Best 1 - Bootleg Sonic Figures
Lego and Sega did finally team up to release a few Sonic sets. One small one from Lego Dimensions and one Larger one in Sonic the Hedgehog. But sadly, the only Minifigures to come from it are Sonic alone. But thanks to World Minifigs, we got a bunch of them. While some are questionable stuff here and there (you’ll see a Sonic from there later) other characters felt perfectly nailed on! Two examples here being Cream the Rabbit and Infinite. They look amazing. Even if the others aren’t up to snuff, I do recommend getting the collection if you can. Just avoid the ones with the skateboards.
Tumblr media
Worse 1 - Tyco Minifig
Tyco was a competing brand against Lego. They sell them for cheap and the minifigure shows. It looks like Morty. Besides that, when it comes to play features it's very limited. While it has arm, leg and neck articulation, the hands don’t move like Lego. And even worse, no holes in the back of the legs. So if you want this guy to sit down in a vehicle while playing you better make sure he is buckled up.
Tumblr media
Best 2 - Snoopy by Linoos
While it has the same problem as the Tyco Minifigure when it comes to sitting, it does have its advantages. The hands have the full rotation like a Lego Minifigure. The Arms are on a ball joint so it has more movement options than even a Lego. And more importantly, it's Snoopy. Just being able to play with Lego and Snoopy at the same time is a big plus for any Peanuts fan.
Tumblr media
Worst 2 - Pearl by McFarlane
I like Steven Universe. I enjoyed the brand’s Cuphead and FNAF figures. But if there is one flaw with those figures is that they have weak joints. The worst example being this Pearl figure. If the ankles don’t fall off, her leg will. And having her stand is extremely tricky. The South Park Minifigs don’t have this problem because they don’t have those connections like Pearl here does. In fact it only seems to be this Pearl Minifig that can’t keep her legs on.
Tumblr media
Best 3 - The Rugrats from Snap and Switch by Well Played
In 2018, Basic Fun showed us their future releases of Minifigures based on Nicktoons. We were going to get Aah! Real Monsters, Rocko, Hey Arnold, Ren and Stimpy, and of course Rugrats. They were the ones who did Bendy and the Ink Machine Minifigures and outside Alice their Version 1 figures were neat. While their Exploding Kittens set was released, Nickelodeon decided to go for a cheaper deal with Well Played. But surprisingly, they look incredibly good. Even the TMNT ones look like it could rival Lego's attempts. Shame it's just these two.
Tumblr media
Worst 3 - Family Guy from K’Nex
Remember when the Simpsons came out for Lego? Family Guy followed suit (or maybe came before?) via the K’Nex brand. And BOY were they ugly. Brian used the Yoshi body mold, Peter and Chris seem to be more wide than they’re supposed to be (probably used Bowser’s Mold), and poor Lois and Meg. They obviously used the Mario Molds and they look like they got stung by bees everywhere other than the arms. Stewie is passable, but that’s it.
Tumblr media
Best 4 - Power Rangers from Mega Bloks
Before they were called Mega Construx, they were Mega Bloks. While that name still exists, it's usually for the smaller age demographic. These did two and came in two variants. One is a six pack to celebrate the Power Rangers 20th Anniversary (that if I didn’t open could have made an easy grand) that had removable helmets (but they all share the same head underneath). The other no removal of helmets. Still with the articulation close to the Mega Construx figures while still being closer to size with Lego Minifigs, this is a great way to have Lego sized Power Ranger fun.
Tumblr media
Worst 4 - This Sonic Minifigure I got from E-Bay
Remember earlier when I said the Bootleg Sonic Minifigures are questionable, this Sonic is one of them. He looks more like Shadow than Sonic. But he’s still MILES better than the Sonic Minifigure I got from E-Bay before Lego released a real Sonic. I got him thinking two things: 1) Lego is never going to release a Sonic set. 2) The head is a custom piece. Well, it is custom but it’s more like putting a piece of plastic on a cylinder one by one piece. They don’t sell them like this anymore and thank goodness.
Tumblr media
Best 5 - Transformers from Kre-O
While their building sets weren’t as good as Lego’s their minifigures are on point. Ball jointed legs, arms, wrist swivel and size of a Lego Minifigure. They’re frikkin awesome. I even got a G.I. Joe one of equal quality. I do wish Hasbro kept going with the Kre-O line and released stuff with My Little Pony and the like. But alas, they’re out of the brick building game and decided to lend out their licenses to others. For good, it gave us a Lego Optimus Prime. For bad…
Tumblr media
Worst 5 - G. I. Joe from Forever Clever
Hasbro, instead of doing their own brick builds of G. I. Joe, gave the license to Forever Clever. While I found both these sets and the Rugrats sets from Five and Below, you can definitely tell which one is the more quality brand. You see that Gray Ninja? The packaging showed him white. So imagine thinking I got Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, I get a random Grey Ninja. Not to mention they look blocky compared to the others. Also the builds were pretty weak grip wise.
And that’s a small sampling of my collection. Want more?
