Synopsis:

Featured characters, aside from the popular main stars of Popeye, Bluto, Olive Oyl and Wimpy, were Swee'Pea, Poopdeck Pappy, Eugene the Jeep and Popeye's quadruplet nephews.

At the start, The All New Popeye Hour had three segments: "Popeye", "Popeye's Treasure Hunt" and "Dinky Dog".

Because of restrictions on violence on television cartoons for children at the time, Popeye did not throw punches in retaliation to Bluto; he often lifted him, with his own hands or with machinery, and hurled him away.

Each episode also contains a PSA interstitial called a Safety Tip or a Health Tip. Some Safety Tips feature an anthropomorphic wolf named Mr. No-No who would engage in dangerous or destructive activities like consuming toxic substances, drinking alcohol, and smoking. He would tend to get Pipeye, Peepeye, Poopeye, and Pupeye to do the same until he is either stopped in some way or turned away by Popeye.

The All New Popeye Hour ran on CBS until September 1981, when it was shortened to a half-hour show and retitled The Popeye and Olive Comedy Show. The show added two new segments. The first segment was "Prehistoric Popeye", which is similar to The Flintstones. The second segment was "Private Olive Oyl", where Olive and Alice the Goon join the Army, then proceed to drive their drill instructor, Sgt. Bertha Blast nuts, yet impress the base commander, Col. Crumb.

My Rating: 6/10

My Reasoning: I'm actually a really big fan of Popeye. I really enjoy the original. However, this rendition of it is a product of its time. Unfortunately, I feel like it was stripped of a lot of its charm by having to comply with certain standards. Also, the whole PSA part just seems so extra. I mean I get why it was added but it seems dramatic to me. Overall, not the best. I still like it though but just because I like Popeye.

Well, found out it ain't pink eye. Went to Urgent Care yesterday and got some drops. Had an appointment with the ophthalmologist this morning and he confirmed it's no pink eye nor contagious. They can't figure out what it is though. Still red an tearing with pain and blurry vision. Haven't even been able to drive the last 2 days nor go to work. Got some Ofloxacin and some Durezol drops to help. All they know is my eye is extremely inflamed but can't figure out how or why. Damn warehouse work I tell you. Going to cop some protective eye wear ASAP. Also make sure I fill out an accident report just to be on the safe side.
