Hello! I got a question
So when it comes to your CC hair downloads you post, is it okay if those hairs are retextured into a different texture.
For example the 3t2 Newsea Blossom Story hair, is it okay with your permission if someone retexture the hair into the pooklet texture or no?
Or like what is your rules when it comes to recolors/retextures on your CC, do you allow it?
Hi! Well, I also only recolored / retextured these hairs, so it's not like they belong to me in any way 🤷♀️ Please check out the original creators' tou in this case.
I do have a tou (which is linked in multiple places on my blog), which is basically you can do whatever you want if it's not under paywall.

Speaking of historical CC makers, the Plumbob Keep has some facial hair offerings. There are not always pictures but it's worth poking around.
And if you need a facial hair default, the Sims 2 Default Database has got you covered. You could even explore the original uploads that the defaults are based on, if you'd prefer a custom version.

Not an exhaustive list! I use @pooklet colors for facial hair, but please know that many of the ones I've linked usually have MM or Remi or Simagroop recolors too.

Your Sims look amazing! Can tou share some resources for skins, face masks, sliders, etc. you are using? Do you have any advice for making Sims?

Sliders: I download every single slider I see because I love messing around with them (even if it does the same thing as another one I already have, chances are it does that thing in a slightly different way that could be useful), so that’s basically everything from here or here
Skins: All the ones I currently use are in this reply here, though every sim I create gets a ton of face shaders, nosemasks and the like so half the time the skins end up looking notably different
Face masks: I've hoarded a ton of stuff over the years, so I'll only include stuff like face shaders here so I actually get to sleep tonight, but here's a few of my favourites (or at least, the ones which I can find, some are proving to be a bit illusive):

and as for advice? I’ve no idea what’s generally common knowledge when it comes to sim making, so hopefully something here will be actual advice and not blindingly obvious :D
Well, kinda obvious one first though: ingame CAS is... not great. Bodyshop is a million times easier to create in, especially once it's modded to brighten the lighting. Maxis why did you make it so gloomy by default :(
The default sims 2 face sculpt has some interesting anatomy, shall we say. It makes it a bit tricky to get proportions right, and if you're going for realistic faces, proportion is the most important thing. It can really help having a photo up on screen at the same time of someone who looks like what you're going for with the sim you're making (that might be obvious too though haha)
Saying that though, thanks to the strange mesh anatomy and the fact that the poor sims 2 sims have <1000 polygons to their faces, sticking 100% to a photo and trying to replicate it exactly never seems to work very well (in my experience anyway). If using a photo I usually get the basic proportions and general feature shapes looking good, so maybe about 60% of the sculpt? going on the photo, then freehand the last 40% or so just shunting around sliders until I'm happy with the sim
I usually try and get as much face sculpting done as possible with the sliders before adding any makeup or face effects. It tends to be a bit easier to see what bits are going to play nicely with the sim's face shape that way. (not a definite rule though, I have been known to completely re-do a nose because I wanted to use a particular nosemask haha)
Adding the makeup/shaders/etc is basically 70% a really long-winded game of trial and error, throwing a ton of things at a sim's face and seeing what metaphorically sticks until you stumble on something that looks good, 30% knowing what you have in your CC collection that might do the trick. It's also fun using things in unintended ways, like using a shader designed for pale skintones as highlights on a darker skintone, or layering nosemasks.
Wish I had some advice for speeding up making sims though, it can take me forever trying different stuff haha
I'll add more stuff if I think of it later since damn am I sleepy right now, but hopefully something was useful in all of this!

hi! sorry for the late reply (i'm slowly going through my requests-list). nightcrawler 'bunny' has been done before by @sunise, you can find it here (there are also unnatural colors available 😊)!
it's also listed in the database, but maybe you missed it. the hairs are color tagged as "NHS / Pooklet" (or there's a "NHS" tag in the notes if it's an older entry that hasn't been updated yet). you can just press CTRL + F on your computer and search for NHS and that way you should be able to see everything more easily.

Thank you for re-uploading! I re-uploaded the DragonBloodRei file here, your makeup and “Eir_EllieWinterSuit_TF” eir-files to my sfs folder here (I included previews for the wintersuit, and below.) the 4t2 parka from eir can be found in digi’s sfs folder here so I didn’t include that.
As for pooklet’s files, I didn’t re-upload them since the are included in their “ye olde pooklet files” (more specifically here) sfs folder and also here. I couldn’t find their “-Pooklet-The_Crime_Machine_Blush” makeup though? But perhaps @pooklet themselves know where those are hosted? :-D

I’ll try Google Photos since I’ve heard that links have more chance of being permanent (even though Drive seems easier to organize pictures). Too bad the links are very long and ugly looking, but hey... What can we do.
Edit: Whoops sorry @uglytownie I posted this right before I saw your reply! :P I was thinking about imgur since it seems to be a popular choice. I might give it a chance if I’m not satisfied with Google Photos! Thank you!

Old Hair Retextures
My terribly slow process of moving all of my downloads to tumblr continues!
Life and other distractions got in the way and moving my downloads has been a low priority tbh. But I just finished replaying Fallout: New Vegas and I am kind of in a gaming lull right now (waiting/hoping for the Skyrim modding community to update mods to work with the Anniversary Edition). Hi Midge! This isn't a request, just a question, because I'm not sure if it's possible or where to look in the code to find out. Do you know if it would be possible to mod a fix for the facial distortion that happens to sims born in game (or from rolling the pacifier in CAS), so that it doesn't happen in the first place? Pooklet talked about it in their tag "ts2-offspring-face-distortion-saga-of-doom". Thank you!
Hello! I don’t know anything beyond what @pooklet has already said and the existence of a single custom bodyshop slider someone made to perform pooklet’s anti-distortion face surgery fix (can't find the link but hopefully someone will post it in the replies). The actual occurrence of it at birth is, as far as I can tell, hard-coded.

hey i just wanted to say i love your work!!!! i only use your hairstyles and i'm obsessed!!!!!!!!!!! since you uploaded the billie eilish neon one recently have you thought about doing more fantasy colored hairstyles? it would be amazing!!! just saying hahaha have a nice year and thank you so much for your work!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Hi! First, sorry for a late reply 🙈 Second, yes, I have thought about it, but couldn't decide which color palette should I use. Pooklet’s unnaturals are a bit too neon-y but Poppet’s seemed too pale? Currently I’m considering Poppet’s unnaturals + Vixii’s mint + Pooklet’s white but I’m open for suggestion. Meanwhile, I’ve realized that all unnatural hair colors with Remi’s V2 textures, for example @simsllama’s are compatible with my setup!

Are all these hairs low or big poly? Unfortunately, I don't know when it starts to be considered big poly. Wonderful conversions as always
kinda depends on your computer, my computer can handle 30k poly hair, some people have a limit of 10k or 20k. but I like to reduce it as much as i can (without deforming the mesh) anyway because theres honestly no reason for a hair to have that high of a polycount lol. i think most s2 maxis-made hairs are under 3k.
