*SPOILER ALERT S1E10 Finale 🚨
So I’ll admit, I did fan girl when I heard the names Aria and Ezra but it is strange that they would use that couple because it felt like the show was setting an example portraying Wes’s character as a creep.

Lindsey Shaw is reflecting on one of the most difficult times in her life, both personally and professionally.
In Wednesday’s episode of Ned’s Declassified Podcast Survival Guide (which you can watch in the video above), Shaw recalls the painful moment in 2014 when she learned that she was being let go from her role as Paige McCullers on then-ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars.
“I got called into [series creator Marlene King’s] office, and she was just like, ‘So, we’re gonna let you go,'” Shaw says, adding that she was told, “It’s not because of your acting.”
Shaw knew the real reason. In recent years, she has become comfortable speaking candidly about struggles with drugs and alcohol, as well as with her relationship to food and her body, and the toll they’ve all taken on her life and career.
“I just gave away everything I cared about,” she says. “I don’t know that I’ve ever gotten back to the point in my career that I was before that talk, that meeting, or that whole season of using. It’s a f–ing lot, dude. Caring about your body can make you go in all different directions, from plastic surgery to drugs to withholding to any kind of s–t.”
Still, Shaw remains grateful to the PLL team for handling her exit “with so much care,” both on and off screen. Not only did the writers craft a beautiful goodbye scene for her character midway through Season 5, but Shaw also recalls King asking if she had someone to talk to about what she was going through. When Shaw replied that she didn’t have anyone, King, replied, “We’ll find somebody.”
As for that beautiful scene, Shaw remembers that she and co-star Shay Mitchell “couldn’t even talk” between takes while filming Paige and Emily’s airport goodbye. “We just hugged each other and let it be what it was,” she says.
And Shaw, of course, will forever appreciate that the producers brought Paige back to wrap things up in the show’s seventh and final season.
“I used that show as a therapy session every time I went in,” Shaw says. “I cried harder there than I did in that whole six years by myself. Everything went into Paige. … It was a great and crazy and scary and sad and wonderful and tragic ride.”

I should have more deep thoughts about pll original sins finale but mostly I remain indignant that they didn't actually go there with tabitha/imogen - the other three's boyfriends are unobjectionable, but the show has less f/f than original pll, a show subject to abc family's shenanigans in an earlier decade
(I must give A style points for their finale setup, very well done)

"#i'm telling you i knew when he walked onto a silly little cw show years ago that he had whatever that it factor is #and i'm so happy he's getting to soar and prove that and wasn't relegated there" what was this?
so i reversed it in my head, the first thing i ever saw him in ages ago was switched at birth, which my mom and i watched (on freeform, formerly abc family, she remembers him specifically from that too. this predates even when i watched the incomparable mess that was pll on that network), and then i followed him over to the carrie diaries on the cw (despite never having watched satc?). i was technically older than the target audience for these, a fact which has always been irrelevant to me lol. and then he was the sole reason i watched the shannara chronicles, which i had fun with because i am a sucker for silly romantical fantasy. it's lowkey hilarious because, 1. as i've mentioned before, i'm not particularly an Actor Girl (excluding old hollywood faves), there are rare exceptions, but i tend to be a Character Girl first and foremost (and a Musician Girl), so the fact that i liked him enough to watch multiple things is significant, and 2. i never blogged about any of this since the fanbases for each of those shows was like thirteen people and a goldfish. there was something about his...aura? i can't explain, but i had this conviction that he had the potential for bigger things, i just had no idea what that would be. i knew about him doing the iceman cometh on broadway, and once upon a time in hollywood, so when he was cast in elvis, and quite a lot of the media was like, "who?" i immediately felt this surge of pride and interest. it's so good to see him breaking past those television parameters and doing projects he's passionate about. i was very consumed by other things last summer (fictional and then the really difficult rl stuff that was going on), otherwise i guarantee i'd have caught up faster. although, tbh, it was fated to turn out this way. i feel like i've been quietly rooting for him for a long time. :') it's curious too with my very strong feelings about e and the way he's glistened around the peripheral edges of my life since i was little. the universe knows things, and guides them directly to my heart when most needed.

My sister works in film/television and she has a couple friends who worked on PLL during various times and they have always said that one thing they wished people understood more was how controlling abc/freeform was at the time and was responsible for alot of darker storylines never taking place. A big thing is how Marlene always wanted the show to end on a more dark note of A to come out victorious in the end. They also say a big issue was writers would fight over who was A and that caused major heated arguments
The point about ABC Family is definitely true, and I think it used to be talked about quite a bit. It's pretty well known that Marlene wanted to make Spencer a real part of the A-team in season 4, but it was vetoed by the network because they didn't want the audience to "hate" Spencer.
I do blame the network's meddling for a lot of the show's issues, but I'm sorry I just don't believe for a minute that Marlene actually wanted the show to end with "A" coming out on top. She was so obsessed with the ships and giving a "love letter to the fans" in the last season.

Pretty Little Liars and Riverdale share the same universe!
Apparently, the upcoming show Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin will not only be the continuation of a previous TV franchise, but will also tie it with another one: the Riverdale universe.
In fact, one of the characters is said to have had a connection to Riverdale, meaning that the world in which Archie, Betty, Jughead and the others live has been on air, in some shape or form, for more than a decade.
I like this because both franchises started out as a "simple" murder mystery, but ended up with featuring the craziest ideas you could imagine (to the point of making you wondering what the heck is going on), and they also had two spin-offs, one being a supernatural show and another one being a short lived series set in the "future".
There are three things that make this connections amazing:
It retroactively establishes that the craziness of Riverdale's plots makes sense because this is just how their universe works, due to how equally crazy the PLL universe is;
Since Ravenswood was a failed spin-off, Pretty Little Liars barely acknowledged that the supernatural exists in its world. However, Riverdale took a deep dive in the fact that The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is set in the same universe, so it's not like they kept sweeping under the rug that the supernatural is real there;
This means that we have a TV franchise that extends through 4 different networks (ABC Family/Freeform, The CW, Netflix and HBO Max). Of the modern and current TV franchises, only the Arrowverse managed to tie more networks together;
So, which shows are set in this franchise? The following ones:
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS (2010-2017)
RAVENSWOOD (2013-2014)
RIVERDALE (2017- )
CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA (2018-2020)
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: THE PERFECTIONIST (2019)
KATY KEENE (2020)
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: ORIGINAL SIN (2022- )
JAKE CHANG (2023- )
8 Shows, all of them who made "Jumping the Shark" a form of art, since they just decided to screw it and do whatever they wanted. And they all share the same universe.
What do you think this universe should be called?

As many of you are probably aware, when abc family existed they really loved to cancel everything. Only a small percentage of the shows that aired on the network got complete endings and most shows never got to live up to their potential.
I am going to do a series of the worst cancellations the network did. Those cancellations that hit the hardest, the ones that left shows so open ended, with a thousand questions still unanswered.
Please select from this poll which show you wish had never been cancelled. You can select up to 2 and you can write in any you feel I left out.

True love is not only felt, it's visible to the naked eye. But if you are one of those people who look for proof in every situation and prefer facts to deductions, arm your eyes and pay attention to the following signs.
They share their food.
They leave you to voice messages.
They leave their phone unattended.
They leave you lovely notes and surprise gifts all around.
