tell me about your defense contract pleage
Oh boy!
To be fair, it's nothing grandiose, like, it wasn't about "a new missile blueprint" or whatever, but, just thinking about what it could have become? yeesh.
So, let's go.
For context, this is taking place in the early 2010s, where I was working as a dev and manager for a company that mostly did space stuff, but they had some defence and security contracts too.
One day we got a new contract though, which was... a weird one. It was state-auctioned, meaning that this was basically a homeland contract, but the main sponsor was Philip Morris. Yeah. The American cigarette company.
Why? Because the contract was essentially a crackdown on "illegal cigarette sales", but it was sold as a more general "war on drugs" contract.
For those unaware (because chances are, like me, you are a non-smoker), cigarette contraband is very much a thing. At the time, ~15% of cigarettes were sold illegally here (read: they were smuggled in and sold on the street).
And Phillip Morris wanted to stop that. After all, they're only a small company worth uhhh... oh JFC. Just a paltry 150 billion dollars. They need those extra dollars, you understand?
Anyway. So they sponsored a contract to the state, promising that "the technology used for this can be used to stop drug deals too". Also that "the state would benefit from the cigarettes part as well because smaller black market means more official sales means a higher tax revenue" (that has actually been proven true during the 2020 quarantine).
Anyway, here was the plan:
Phase 1 was to train a neural network and plug it in directly to the city's video-surveillance system, in order to detect illegal transactions as soon as they occur. Big brother who?
Phase 2 was to then track the people involved in said transaction throughout the city, based on their appearance and gait. You ever seen the Plainsight sheep counting video? Imagine something like this but with people. That data would then be relayed to police officers in the area.
So yeah, an automated CCTV-based tracking system. Because that's not setting a scary precedent.
So what do you do when you're in that position? Let me tell you. If you're thrust unknowingly, or against your will, into a project like this,

Let me introduce you to the world of Corporate Sabotage! It's a funny form of striking, very effective in office environments.
Here's what I did:
First of all was the training data. We had extensive footage, but it needed to be marked manually for the training. Basically, just cropping the clips around the "transaction" and drawing some boxes on top of the "criminals". I was in charge of several batches of those. It helped that I was fast at it since I had video editing experience already. Well, let's just say that a good deal of those markings were... not very accurate.
Also, did you know that some video encodings are very slow to process by OpenCV, to the point of sometimes crashing? I'm sure the software is better at it nowadays though. So I did that to another portion of the data.
Unfortunately the training model itself was handled by a different company, so I couldn't do more about this.
Or could I?
I was the main person communicating with them, after all.
Enter: Miscommunication Master
In short (because this is already way too long), I became the most rigid person in the project. Like insisting on sharing the training data only on our own secure shared drive, which they didn't have access to yet. Or tracking down every single bug in the program and making weekly reports on those, which bogged down progress. Or asking for things to be done but without pointing at anyone in particular, so that no one actually did the thing. You know, classic manager incompetence. Except I couldn't be faulted, because after all, I was just "really serious about the security aspect of this project. And you don't want the state to learn that we've mishandled the data security of the project, do you, Jeff?"
A thousand little jabs like this, to slow down and delay the project.
At the end of it, after a full year on this project, we had.... a neural network full of false positives and a semi-working visualizer.
They said the project needed to be wrapped up in the next three months.
I said "damn, good luck with that! By the way my contract is up next month and I'm not renewing."
Last I heard, that city still doesn't have anything installed on their CCTV.
tl;dr: I used corporate sabotage to prevent automated surveillance to be implemented in a city--

I was rambling about what dogday would look in luminous au, while feathers slept.
And i thought, what if, the critters have like a human disguise, so they could hide in plainsight. And would sometimes lure people to their cabin to have their human feast :)
Most of the critters have different methods to hunt their prey like,
Hoopy likes to chase her prey in the woods. jumping from tree to tree or on the ground right behind her food. And in her human disguise, she is seen as a very hyper person, and very competitive when playing with some people(or the critters)how she hunts in her human form is pretty straight forward, she hunts the rumbustious people that come near the woods by acting as a lonely rabbit, practically luring her victim to their maze like forest. Where the fun begins.
Bubba is the one mostly using his human form, loves drinking coffee in some cafes and reading books. When he is on the hunt, he drugs his victims, and brings them to the basement in their cabin, at those times the critters leave to wander the woods, annoyed or scared by the loud screams and laughter coming from the basement.
Kicken being the cool dude, loves to get attentions, is mostly out impressing them girls(if ya know what i mean:)) in his human form. And when he hunts he mostly tags along with hoppy, being a watcher from the tress, if a prey ever escape, he's there to snatch them back.
Crafty barely uses her human form, as she is always at their cabin mostly painting or drawing. Bubba is the one buying her tools and paints when she runs out. But, there is a specific red that she always wants, human red. Sometimes bubba's victim's blood is used, or when she is outside the cabin, she search for poor souls, unfortunate enough to be in their woods.
Picky is always seen in food stands with multiple food in her hands, bubba is always there to stop her from going to get more even when she still has her hands full of foods. She is the butcher of the critters, and humans that is given to her is sliced and dice to look like normal meat, and is store in their cooler. For future use.
Bobby loves to make connection with people, she loves to get touchy with most people, and on midnight, where there is no people left, she hugs her victim one last time. To the point where their ribs break having an agonizing death. She remembers every victim she kills, and she always say she loved every, single, one of them.
Catnap doesn't like using his human form, but when his god orders him to kill some certain people, he will obey. He only comes out at night, mostly stalking his prey. He loves using his red gas to play with his victims, making them more terrified of him. He also love playing hide and seek with his victims.
Dogday is the only one who tries to help the victims escape(good or bad, he doesn't really know)because of this, his hands and legs are bound. Giving him less movements to guide the victims. But even he isn't safe, there are mini critters sleeping inside him. If the victim makes a bad move like, shouting at dogday, or shoving him, they will wake up. And they too are very hungry. So, sucks to be you then. Your gonna be eaten while your still alive.
The critters have a difficult relationships with each other, they love dogday, but him interfering in their hunts is irritating to them,(but they kinda got used to it. )
I got their design, but i wanna make the human design too. Here have dogday :))

Dramatic Essence & Makeup
Over the years, I have come to realise that those who have Dramatic essence kind of need to wear makeup to highlight or emphasize it. They look a bit plain or washed out when they don't try to emphasize their Dramatic essence. People who have Natural essence need to downplay their makeup so that their features aren't overpowered by it.
Angelina Jolie is an interesting example. I believe she has both Natural & Dramatic essences. A lot of people think Natural= plain, average looking or boring and Dramatic= exotic striking beauty but this isn't true
If you look at these pictures its obvious that Angelina looks best with minimal makeup as wearing bold makeup seems to exaggerate her already exaggerated features further. Natural essence manifests in many ways and this is one example.
Karina from aespa has Romantic, Dramatic, Ethereal essence and when she does not wear makeup to emphasize it (eyeliner, lipstick etc) she looks plain and washed out
this is one of my fav pictures of her. look at her striking her features are. compare them to pictures of her where she's wearing no makeup or little makeup. again im not implying that she's wearing "heavy makeup" here or that people with Dramatic essence need to. its not about heavy or light but about enhancing your features and making them stand out.
Karina's MUA probably only does these plain makeup looks on her to prevent her from standing out too much or stealing the spotlight from the other members. Jennie's MUA also did this.
just compare these lewks and see how differently her features come across
people with a Dramatic essence (and without any Natural essence especially) can come across as bold and intimidating which is probably why their MUAs try to downplay it with minimal makeup but this also means their striking features are hidden in plainsight (pun intended lmao)
the Dramatic challenge is choosing between being perceived as a cold intimidating person or looking kind of dull and washed out :/

All I have to say is that I choose to believe that he warned Jungkook that he was going to post that screenshot and that Jungkook had no problem with it because as you said, he didn't want to show us his shaved head. Not even in the last wlive he did alone. This reminded me a bit of when we saw Hobi with his shaved head.
I understand what you're saying. I don't know if this is the best time to have this conversation but I get what you're saying.
As for the subgroup, hopefully this will be enough for them to leave us alone tomorrow.

Let me make some things clear about my blog. I do love Tae, but I’ve decided that the Tae that I love is the Tae who is part of BTS aka interacting with them and part of them as a group entity. I don’t like BTS Chapter 2 Solo era Tae. I think I’ve said this on another post, but I think part of this era of Tae’s problem is that he goes completely unchecked. All of his weaknesses are exposed (anon you mentioned album charts not me 🤭) and while he might be one of the most popular members of BTS on the surface, solo era has shown that he doesn’t have that *it factor* on his own. So, we have seen him do questionable things to appease a very questionable group. And it’s simply a pattern at this point. I can no longer give him the benefit of the doubt. The massive eye roll that I did when I saw the picture of him with Bam could be seen all the way in Seoul. 🙄 However, all of this to say is that I’m not a Tae anti. I don’t hate him. I wish him safety and health in the military, and I think he’s an essential part of BTS the group but we can definitely leave Chapter 2 Era Tae behind. A couple posts ago I lamented how much I hate this “competition” between jkks and tkks and I think we know who really fuels that fire.
