the next major antagonist or conflict is wrapped up in a single book and the story continues on and on to increasingly unrelated things ported in from the sister game until you're essentially just playing wizard102

Pirate101 is immediate trauma followed up by a gradual growing support system, so even when you are faced with a dangerous situation you are not alone with others willing to point out the whole situation is fucked up.
Wizard101 is gradual trauma followed up by no support system, so when you are faced with a dangerous situation you are alone with new unaddressed trauma and congratulated for it.

Can you imagine what it must be like to be the young wizard's classmate
Imagine one day you get a new student in your class, but they're not from around town. In fact, they're not even from this planet. They came from a distant planet called "Urth" you've never even heard of before.
They look like you, they sound like you, but there's something about the way they act that's undeniably alien. They sit next to you and study just like you would, but you just can't shake the weird feeling of sitting next to an alien in class.
What's even weirder is how freakishly good at magic they are. Within the first few weeks of their arrival, they've mastered magical techniques that have taken you a year to full get a grip on. Charms, wards, all of it. And they're even more surprised by this than you are, because the planet they're from doesn't even believe in magic.
You hear rumors about this new student across Ravenwood. Rumors about how planet Urth is super technologically advanced. They've got flying machines that can travel to the other side of the planet in mere hours. Rumors about how the people of Urth have concocted potions that make them immune to almost all disease. Rumors about how the people of Urth possess almost superhuman strength and speed to make up for their lack of magic.
You can't tell what's truth or fabrication when it comes to this alien student. You're honestly a little afraid of them, being an alien being that looks and acts almost exactly like you but has come from a distant planet to master the magical arts like no one else in the Spiral ever has before.
Who are they?
What are they?

The wizard and the pirate will never meet and can never meet.
Because for all that the wizard is selfless, the pirate is selfish, aching and greedy.
Because the pirate wouldn't let go of the wizard, like they don't let go of their crew. They would hold them like the stars, like they mean everything.
They would let the world burn to take some of that weight off the wizard.
The pirate has had everything taken from them, its only fair to take someone whose lost as much as them.
So the wizard and the pirate can never meet, soulmates never destined to meet or the spiral will die because of selfish love.

Been replaying Dragonspyre with my friend and one thing that I’ve always found fascinating about it is the way that it handles the ghosts.
All throughout the world, you see that every human has been killed. Dragonspyre is a ruined world, and the only people still around are the servants of the dragon titan. In place of everyone who’s been killed, a ghost stands where they once stood.
What I love about the ghosts is their various levels of comprehension of the state that they’re in. Some of the ghosts acknowledge what happened, that the dragon titan completely razed their world. However, many don’t. In fact, there’s a decent number of Dragonspyre ghosts who flat-out don’t even realize they’re dead. One that struck a cord with me in particular said something to the effect of “I’m no longer tangible”, seemingly understanding his state as “still alive but not able to touch things for some mysterious reason”. Many of the ghosts make excuses for the fact that they can’t do what they once did when they were alive. This is either because they don’t realize they are dead, or my interpretation, that they don’t want to acknowledge that their lives were cut short.
I also love that so many of the ghosts are very much stuck in their ways from when they were alive. It’s basically left up to interpretation whether that’s a symptom of them being a ghost, or if that militant adherence to order and rules is a symptom of growing up in Dragonspyre’s culture that’s impossible to shake. There’s an NPC, Belia Windgazer, who is still running paperwork for the vaults, even though that paperwork is coming from and going to no one, and is not useful for a single person. It’s running through the motions of the busywork that you did when you were alive, and that’s kind of nightmarish. Even in death, they don’t get any rest.
Another NPC, Zanna Fireflower, has made it her main priority to secure a tower that has visibly been toppled a long time ago, leaving only a single floor. She sees this as a necessary military accomplishment. However, in the present day, this is basically entirely meaningless from both an objective and political viewpoint. Gaining control of this tower does nothing for nobody, the tower doesn’t even stand there anymore. Is this fixation simply something that is static beyond the grave, or is it such a point of pride for her that she can’t let go of such a pointless task all these years later?
Playing through Pirate101 and getting to the point where you meet the four ghosts of Ratbeard’s crew adds a new layer to this situation as well. In that game, those ghosts cannot move on from the mortal realm and go to the next life because they still have unsettled business in this world. Does that imply that with such a massive tragedy on Dragonspyre, the dragon titan not only killed countless people, but doomed them to never rest in peace and move to the next world due to the fact that all of their lives had been cut tragically short, leaving every one of them with unfinished business? Absolutely horrifying stuff

Hello Young Wizards, it’s about time I make a new commission post! This time around I’m simplifying the price range, but I’m definitely negotiable if you’re just lookin for a sketch or something. I’ve plopped a bunch of my past wizard commissions here as reference for y’all as well, I’d love to draw your OC, or even design you as a wizard! There’s a mix of both in here :)

sometimes being a fan of both 101 games means you'll get the best news ever after receiving an absolutely devastating blow to the gut and boy do we have some high highs and some low lows but by god is it never ever boring. we are the first people to experience perpetual motion and that motion is violently swinging from cheering and screaming and exploding and cheering again ad infinitum

Been a while since I posted but I made an important discovery! Apparently there are gravestones in Skull Island that share the same writing system as the Krokotopian portion of the Rosetta Stone:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t think either are meant to be translated (trust me I tried), but it’s odd that KI recycled the writing system like this. I don’t even know what to think of the lore implications—did Krokotopians reach Skull Island? If so, why does the quest line imply that these gravestones have English pirate names (with terrible puns might I add)?
What’s also weird is that neither of these examples match up with the Krokotopian writing in Wizard101:
Tumblr media
This can be found in the Balance School, but it’s also indecipherable. None of the symbols match with the ones on the gravestone or Rosetta Stone, but it’s still heavily implied to be Krokotopian.
