I made some new clowns this weekend, so say hello to Jumpy Jack (left), Pin Ball (middle), and Marbles (right)!

Here are some ideas I'm playing around with for them

Marbles is afraid of heights, and does ground work, juggling, gymnastics, hoops, and the like. They're the oldest of the three, and do their best to keep the other two out of trouble.

Pin Ball loves pretty much all aerial stunts, trapeze and the cannon being his favorites. He really wants Marbles to join him for aerial silks and hoops, but it's not gonna happen. A bit mischievous, but overall he's a people pleaser.

Jumpy Jack likes to be all over the place, and is tossed between Marbles and Pin Ball's acts quite literally. He's constantly getting into things he shouldn't, and loves giving Marbles the run around.

Marbles has a brother named Milk who he tries really hard not to thinks about. And Jumpy Jack has a twin that's off having his own adventures he's my bf'c oc uwu

NAME: Pin Ball

ALSO KNOWN AS: Snoofle

RARITY: ★★☆☆☆

THREAT LEVEL: ★★☆☆☆ | Not a threat unless frightened. But easily frightened. 

HABITAT: Found in mountainous regions such as Seven Peaks, or around hills with a steep enough slope for rolling. Their dens occasionally overlap with stretches of the mines.

DESCRIPTION: Pin balls are beasts that range from the size of a hedgehog to a porcupine, and are similarly covered in sharp quills and bristles that grow from their “plated” backs. However, unlike their perhaps distant relatives, pin balls can roll up like armadillos, launching themselves around their environment at high speeds. They live in large colonies with most of their den being underground, though their waking hours are spent on the surface foraging for grasses and bugs. They can often be seen rolled up in spiky balls, careening across their homes, and have little awareness of what they roll into when in this form. 

Pin balls are typically considered to be peaceful, and unfortunately, due to the harvesting of their quills for weapons, they’ve developed an instinctual fear of people. When they see or hear someone approaching they tuck themselves into a ball and roll in a random direction at startling speed – sometimes right into the person they’re trying to evade. Very remote pin ball colonies lack this reasonable fear and will approach people with timid curiosity.

ABILITIES: If a pin ball ends up launching itself into someone – most often by accident and chance – it can be deadly. They roll around blazingly fast, and their spikes are sharp enough to pierce even some armors. Further, because they roll when frightened, their movement can be highly unpredictable due to their panic. People who disturb colonies may find themselves in a game of sudden death dodgeball with dozens of pin balls moving in all directions around them. The pin balls can become so worked up they roll around for days, even in the absence of the threat that set them off. In addition to their quills, pin balls have front claws that make them suitable burrowers, and their eyesight and hearing are sharp enough that they’re difficult to sneak by. 

WEAKNESS: Their spikes and rolling speed can make them hard to catch, and their plated backsides are hard to pierce. However, beyond those defenses, pin balls don’t have other means of protecting themselves. They’re prey animals without supernatural defenses, so any typical weapon – striking them on the stomach or other un-plated part of the body – will be able to dispatch them. The durability of pin ball quills makes them handy for certain types of weapons, and hunters may harvest them for this purpose. While pin balls can’t feel when quills are pulled from them, they won’t regrow and the loss of the quills will lead to the pin ball being eaten by predators.

OTHER VARIANTS: 

Exploding snoofle: More solitary than their pin ball cousins, exploding snoofles simply walk around shaded areas sniffing through the leaves with their long, shrew-like snout. They’re peaceful and only have interest in getting their fill of bugs, but are incredibly skittish. Whenever they detect the approach of someone, the snoofle builds up enough internal pressure that all of its quills fire off in every direction, causing serious injury or death to those nearby. The quills of exploding snoofles will eventually regrow, but a bare snoofle will hide away underground until they’ve healed. Some hunters intentionally startle snoofles and then collect the quills. Small fae are also known to use them as swords.

Family Guy Pinball Machine thoughts

I don’t think about Jonas too much anymore, but the Family Guy Pinball Machine I had the pleasure of playing yesterday had me thinking “I wish he could have seen this.”. I did a little research and it came out in 2007, so we wouldn’t have been able to see it in person. Overall the Family Guy Pinball Machine was amazing though, and highly recommend it. It comes with Three levels of profanity, I asked the bartender if i could change them to hear all the voice lines but I just got a weird look and they told me maybe if i buy a drink so i didn’t. The art within the case is very clean, I hope I can come back and play again soon, I really wanted to put “LWD” as the leader board name, but I haven’t scored high enough yet.
