It’s cool seeing the way storytelling and exposition differs between cultures. So I’m in the middle of watching extraordinary attorney woo and I’m at the episode where the defendant is arrested for hijacking a school bus and taking the students to a mountain so they could play. Ironically, he is the son of the owner of the academy. Knowing this, my first instinct was to guess that there’d be a whole backstory about how he was burnt out because of rigorous schoolwork and the pressure from his mother, which is a storyline you’d expect from an American tv show. However, his character wasn’t that embellished. More attention was given to how his actions supported the overall theme of kids should be kids, and should have the time to enjoy life.

Concepts for an older Kay as a (relatively new) Private investigator! I love this concept so mUCH its fits her very well i think HGJKHLJ
thoughts below because man have I been THINKING about this
-She's basically a PI by day, the Yatagarasu by night (design pending possibly but I'd imagine in this hypothetically game you'd never actually SEE her in that outfit)
-For obvious reasons since shes ACTUALLY started stealing stuff she no longer goes around proclaiming that shes the new yatagarasu, instead the second she became a PI she started calling herself "the great detective" instead
-has yet to be caught, but is currently doing less risky thefts currently cause shes still learning
-She still uses Little Thief but its gotten a b u n c h of upgrades over the years ( im unsure *exactly* what those upgrades would be though, shes possibly using it as a secure storage device for information relating to her clients and to her thefts as a phone/physical documents would be much less secure)
-going off of that last point, while she graduated with a degree in criminal justice, shes pretty good at modifying and tinkering with technology, its a bit rough and shes very self taught but hey it *works* so thats all she really needs
-She is INCREDIBLY good at finding out information for her clients, shes building a pretty good rep for herself because of it, though she has yet to have REALLY big case under her belt
-(honestly probably should be wearing pants but im attached to the skirt so i just made it longer FDGHFGJKHLJ)
-I also like to think she bows only semi ironically HGJKHLJ making fun of edgeworth even when its just an inside joke with herself <33
-I am in fact spreading my trans lesbian kay propaganda here ok bye

incredible client in this episode. deeply well-meaning, deeply oblivious man whose mission in life is to expose how dangerous cram schools are for childrens' growth and emotional and mental health, but the way he goes about doing this is to. to kidnap the children
#its called the pied piper for obvious reasons and it's hysterical#on some level he KNOWS this is a bad idea too#but he's like so wrapped up in his own hype hes like. no i am still going to kidnap the children#he legally changed his name to mcfart because it's funnier . he would make a killing as a professional clown but he doesnt want to do that#he wants to take busfuls of eight year olds on unsanctioned field trips without their parents' consent#again. does not want to do ANYTHING dangerous or traumatizing to the children. deeply cares . not a perv or anything#just does not know what in the hell is so wrong about kidnapping a bus full of eight year olds#extraordinary attorney woo

Proof that I've internalized my role in the legal field: I'm playing a casual mobile game and keep wanting to object to the legal system's portrayal within the game
#personal#shitpost#the game in question is called love & pies#it's actually a good game! cute lil story would recommend#but. BUT.#it seems like with every new twist in the story i have to go#'wait that's not how alimony works'#'that's not how transfers of property work'#'that's not how... BEING A LAWYER works!'#admittedly i am only really familiar with family law and then only in two states in the usa#and the game is set in some ambiguous setting that can't be the usa#(since the town it's set in apparently got founded 1000 years ago)#(imagine a world where that was the usa. where we actually kept native towns intact and honored their existence)#(instead of committing genocide against the natives in both the mass racial murder and the cultural erasure senses)#(but i digress)#so like. the rules are presumably a little different in this fictional 'appleton' setting#but. some of this just... no.#no jurisdiction out there is gonna work like they show the legal system working#that's just not the way it all functions#also as someone in the field of family law and whose father is a family law attorney#i take almost personal offense to the suggestion in the game that all that matters in family law is $$$#and the side with the better lawyers can make blatantly unfair decisions without guidance#judges are there! and get involved in these cases! and for good reason! did they just forget judges exist?#and even then the whole '$$$ means good lawyers who can do anything' is... not entirely untrue but at least overblown#the story is good in other ways to be clear!#i doubt any of this would bug someone outside the legal field!#and in fact i really like that one of the characters is both a lawyer and a runner#because my dad is both of those things also hehe#but. ughhh. i needed to let this out

Life update: I’m concussed after a car accident and injured my back between my neck and right shoulder, couldn’t afford to get my teeth fixed right away, am going to PT for my back and a head injury doctor bc I’ve had near constant migraines all week but u know what???? Still a 10
