remember when I announced a slumber party and then absolutely forgot about it? this is the latest anything's ever been ever in the history of the world

thank you for this question! I absolutely can share some changes and details I'm really excited about :-)

novel stuff under the cut!

it will not be called cruel summer because I think that title is kind of oversaturated in today's climate. bananarama, taylor swift, the tv show! I would hate for it to be lost! a working title for now is SKIN. but I call the trilogy NOW THAT YOU'RE GONE!

it's going to be a trilogy! I want to release them in a weird order, too. 1987 (which is the cruel summer rewrite), 1977 (a prequel), then 1987-88 which is the direct aftermath of 1987. in love with the idea of imperfect/unconventional victims and how our history shapes us and our decisions/choices.

1987 will be the most conventional horror story. 1977 is more of a thriller/drama. 1987-88 is more of a meditation on grief and trauma. like how we survive terrible things and why.

cannibalism is a big big big big big BIG theme. hunger, love, consumption.

it's definitely a character study! and you bet your bottom dollar that it is still a love triangle

I am 72k into the novel and none of it has been copied from the original work!

I think there are only going to be three survivors instead of four, but the jury is still out on this decision.
