Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against the people who enjoy reading it or writing it, but that's all I see on tumblr letaly.

How did You come up with the names mihana and riki? Do they have any meaning
I usually pick names for fanon kids based off of what I think their parents might want to.
Mihana - depending of the kanji can mean a multitude of things. Her’s is 珠花 so roughly “pearl flower”. Yuuta thinks the Hyuga eyes look like pearls and also would want to continue the little flower naming thing.
Riki - power/force. Typically a masculine name, but very fitting for a first born and Katsura would love it as it would speak for her wish for Riki to grow up strong.

I'll always appreciate Rebecca sugar for writing genuinely flawed female (or female coded I guess) characters. Pearl, Spinel and Rose/Pink diamond are beautifully written, complicated people. Rose in particular did some genuinely fucked up shit and yet I can't bring myself to call her evil. I think that's one of the things that tripped people up about her, at least subconsciously. Now a character like her was always going to be controversial and it was very much intentional, but I do think there wouldn't have been so much vitriol towards her at the time if she was male.
Now obviously not every character was a hit and the show does have it's flaws, but it's a lot better than people gave it credit for back then. I've actually been planning a rewatch with my mom who never got past s3 but loved what she saw of the show

Agreed. Loved that Rebecca Sugar really went all out to show that Rose was an incredibly loving person, while at the same time showing that she was at the very least a selfish one in a lot of ways, and arguably a kind of terrible person.
SU had its flaws but it knocked it out of the park when it came to writing female characters. And fallible, human characters in general.

She hated talking about her past. But it was.. exceedingly difficult to brush Pearls off, considering what she had gone through as of late. Really, it was hard for Nimbra to lie to anyone her age-- remembering multiple times where she had brought up moments of her past to Kay in an attempt to soothe her during the worst of times.
.. she wouldn't do that for anyone else. Not that easily, at least.
".. my mother liked to tell stories through song. It's how we passed the time when we travelled." She could remember watching the clouds soar by as the caravan rolled along, the sound of her mother's voice, the gentle strings of her violin ringing clear as day in her ears. "A lot of them were retellings of her and my father's adventures before they had me. She thought for a moment, falling silent; as if chasing after a lingering feeling long forgotten in her mind.

Perhaps my faith lingers still, despite knowing that they exist now.. but the lessons my mother taught me still remain. To follow your own beliefs, take hold of them no matter what the world tells you; carve your fate in the way you want it to lead."

💛 What is the most impactful lesson you’ve learned about writing?
This is a cool question — let me think….
It’s a simple one, and I have to learn it over and over again, but I think the one with the biggest impact has probably been “shitty first drafts.” As I frequently have to remind myself, I can’t edit a blank page. Sometimes you just have to get it down, and you honestly might not use any of what you put in that first draft, but sometimes attempting to write it makes you realize what you really wanted to write, or gets it out so that you can find that pearl of a sentence in the middle or at the end of your draft, or so that you can write it, go away for a bit, and realize that your shitty first draft wasn’t actually as shitty as you thought it was. Like, “oh, I can do something with this.” Sometimes the shitty first draft IS shitty, and after you’ve realized that the first way you wrote it didn’t get you where you wanted to go, or it got you there but that wasn’t as satisfying as it could be, then you have a chance to consider how you could approach it in a different way that might actually be more satisfying. You don’t get to a good piece of writing without actually writing something. If you give yourself the freedom to write it as shitty as it turns out on the page, you have a starting place to make it good, even great.
💭 What inspires you and your writing?
Wow, all kinds of things — other writers, certainly, the Star Wars movies, obviously. I will say that I use music as inspiration for writing a lot, though. I make playlists, or I listen while doing other things — driving to work, taking a walk, cleaning the house, motion is generally good for inspiration — and a song will evoke a mood, or make me think about a relationship, or imagine a particular scene in my head, like a movie or a music video. If I’m lucky, I’ll recall enough of that to make it a story idea, or an idea for a scene in an existing WIP, or a different way of thinking about something a character might do or say or feel. Sometimes it’s song lyrics that inspire me, but often it’s the sound and the feeling that evokes in me.

💭: How do you come up with your story ideas? Do you like prompts? Do you like visual pictures for inspo or written dialogues?
Honestly I feel like I come up with stories in a variety of heinous ways. Like, reddit posts are a personal favorite lmao but I'll also randomly remember moments from my or my friends' lives that I'll spin into a prompt, or I'll come up with something and not write on it for enough months that I'm assuming people forgot I ever posted it in the first place. I do LOVE prompts, though, and I'm typically more inspired by dialogue than I am photos but anything that gets the mind churning is well-loved and thoroughly abused by me.
👽: What's the weirdest idea you've had for a story?
lmao define weird. Maybe I'm too desensitized by being in the reylo fandom for so long but I don't blink at things that would make a lesser person clutch their pearls these days. My unpublished Hill House AU was pretty weird, ig, bc Ben really thought for a while that Rey was a ghost and he was still dtf. A hellcheer AU I'm working on referred to simply as "the cuckolding AU" is pretty fucking weird. Anything a/b/o is probably weird to anyone else but it's my favorite trope (and the one I'm worst at writing). Give me EXAMPLES of weird lolol.

I feel like I'm always unintentionally cryptic about what I'm working on but if someone asked I'd be relatively open about it??? Idk I like to worm in surprises but if I got a message asking about, "What's the cuckolding AU?" "what's your a/b/o AU that you've teased so many times and never posted?" I wouldn't just ignore it, y'know?

Easy to become something else, to read something else into this, to craft stories and explanations that did not exist. It was easy, in that way. Let people believe something that was untrue, let them begin to doubt. That was the way out.
Her crown still sat upon her head. Gleaming in the low light, collecting wetly in the sheen of those four pearls inset upon it. Cold, and distant. Staring down at her company, watching them, keeping them in line. The Vanderbilts were not to be doubted, after all. What they said was final, it was the strict line upon which reality itself was imposed. It was so cold. How could gold and pearl seem so cold? Why were there marbled lines of a darker make running through her crown? Why were the edges along the tines serrated? Deep space is nothing at all like the deep ocean, though it has its similarities, and you would know that within the instant you had experienced either.
The ocean is alive, and it knows you are there, and you are a part of it. It loves you, in the way that oceans do, and it thinks fondly of you as its children, though it does not always show it in a way that is most beneficial to you, and not another of its children. It does not seek to harm you, and it will often help you, if you understand its ways. There is always risk, of course, but what is love without risk? You do not decree your love for a shark, and then be surprised and offended when it behaves as a shark.
Space is a different matter. Even the most hostile places within the ocean, upon this earth, is nothing at all compared to the hostility of deep space. The void feels no love. The void is not alive. There is nothing in it for you, and to be quite honest, it is rather boring for it. Things are conducted on a grand scale, of course, but there is nothing tying it all together. It is not a living thing, a whole organism, you are mere afterthought to it, and not a part of its greater whole.
Do not mistake me, I am not afraid of it. There are reasons you might be afraid of the ocean, even as it loves you. But space has no method of resistance in its uncaring nature. In being so separate from us, it cannot speak to us, and it cannot consider us in turn. It cannot even turn as much of an eye to you, to merely ponder you as something that might be afraid of it. It is better bent and broken, and not treated as an equal enough to fear it, to construct such a dialogue with it.
